PROGRAM NOTES

Sweet Tooth is an energetic, fast-paced, groove-oriented snare drum duet. This duet showcases the many sound possibilities from the snare drum and what only two snare drums can accomplish in a piece of music. Players must be locked into one another, sounding like one player.

The title comes from a challenge I gave myself. I have a terrible sweet tooth, so for one month, whenever I had the urge to eat a sweet, I sat down to write this piece instead.

INSTRUMENTATION & NOTATION KEY

Sweet Tooth requires two snare drums, both with snares turned off throughout. The drums should be different in pitch to highlight the rhythmic interplay between players. Each player holds a stick in one hand and a brush in the other.
