Convulsions came; and, where the field Long slept in pastoral green, A goblin-mountain was upheaved (Sure the scared sense was all deceived), Marl-glen and slag-ravine.

Vennero gli spasmi; e dove riposava da tempo il campo nel verde pastorale, una montagna stregata si sollevava (certo i sensi spauriti ingannava) forra di marna e gola di scoria minerale.

Là era la chiarezza del Male, le pomici nella nicchia più fonda; ma anzi che l'occhio potesse assorbire, o la mente potesse capire, crolla ai nostri piedi, sprofonda.

Perciò, allora, la Solidità è una crosta; il nocciolo di fuoco è celato; se anche va tutto bene per anni come si può pensare senza affanni a un orrore così inaspettato?
