PROJECT OVERVIEW
I wanted to design a vacation resort for all types people. I have come to realize that there are people that wish to travel with family members that can find it difficult to do so. Some people have physical disabilities which should be considered when designing, but what about the people that have mental or sensory disabilities? For some designs we think about acoustics, some we think about the use of color and pattern but that is not thinking of how a certain group of people would react to the space. This what I wanted to achieve with this project. I wanted to make inclusive design truly designing for everyone.

Acoustics: - Children with sensory issues can find sound to be quite challenging, and it can make them very distracted and find it hard to retain patience and concentration for what they are doing.
GOALS/ DESIGNING FOR DISABILITIES
Lighting: - You should always look to use indirect lighting, if you can, as it helps them to stay calm and feel more comfortable. Colors: - Matte colors tend to work best, with a more muted tone often helping your child to feel more comfortable and to ensure they can handle life a little easier. Space Planning: - Many children with sensory issues will find long corridors disconcerting. - Divide areas for certain activities, where possible, and segregate by color etc. (through use of floor finishes, different colored shelving, etc.). - If possible, create at least one area where children can explore on their own and parents can supervise safely from the sidelines. - Make sure to use good signage and labeling that incorporates recognizable pictures.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Like waves, our emotions can be calm one moment and rocky the next. We have highs and lows just like waves with happiness being a calm sea. This resort will have a calm and inviting space, so people won’t react with a high or low emotion. Waves have things that effect them like the moons gravitational pull and the sand underneath. People have these things too. We all have something affecting us that others can not see they can be big or small. That is why we have to be conscious of how we treat others and how we design for others. Some people can look at a ceiling and be neutral while someone with mental disabilities can become uneasy while being in the space.
