IN AN UNPRECEDENTED move that will provide financial relief to hundreds of businesses and thousands of individuals in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the National Insurance Board (NIB) has announced a two-month amnesty on the payment of interest on contributions and a reduction in the rate of penalties from 10 percent to 3 percent. The new measures were announced by His Excellency Governor Ric Todd, in his capacity as Minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands National Insurance Board (NIB), on December 22, 2011. Todd said the two-month amnesty period on NIB surcharges will commence on January 2, 2012 and end on February 29, 2012. During this amnesty period persons can bring their National Insurance contributions up to date without incurring any surcharges.

LIME AND SANTA BRING CHRISTMAS CHEER TO OSETA JOLLY

On Thursday, December 8, telecoms company LIME visited its adopted school – the Oseta Jolly Primary - located in Blue Hills, to carry out its Annual Christmas Treat exercise, where dozens of gifts were presented to the children. LIME also brought Santa Claus to assist with the doling out of the gifts. Here, smiling students with their gifts, are captured with Santa, who seemed only too happy to be sharing in the joyous occasion.
