MURDER MYSTERY by Hayden Boyce Publisher & Editor-in-Chief

A

cloud of mystery is hanging over the murder of Marie Kuhnla, a female lawyer from New York, USA, who was killed while vacationing with friends at Club Med hotel in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. What was initially thought to be a suicide when the body was found on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018, was classified as a murder six days later by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. While police have been extremely tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding murder, investigations by The SUN revealed that Kunla, a 61-year-old public prosecutor, died from strangulation. “All I can say to you is that this one is very suspicious, but you have to be very careful,” a trusted law enforcement source told The SUN. There are also conflicting reports about where exactly where the body was found and by whom. Several media reports have stated that the body was found on a

Marie Kuhnla playing field or in bushes near Club Med, but this newspaper was reliably informed that the lawyer’s remains were actually found on the sprawling Club Med hotel property, which is located in the upscale Grace Bay area. Kuhnla, who was reported missing the day before her body was found, worked at the Suffolk County

Legal Aid Society, was on vacation with her two good friends, Helma Hermans and Kim Nohilly. The two friends reported her missing and after claiming they did not get much help from authorities they started searching for their friend themselves. Nohilly’s daughter, who accompanied the women on the trip,

discovered Kuhnla’s body. Other reports have stated that she was last seen going to her room the night before her body was discovered. Club Med is also very guarded about the murder, issuing a short statement saying: “The entire Club Med family is saddened by the death of this guest and sends its deepest condolences to the guest’s friends and family. The safety, security and wellbeing of all of our guests remains our highest priority.” Her son, Rick Kuhnla Jr., told ABC News in a statement: “While I understand the focus of this story is on the circumstances surrounding my mother’s death, I would like to take a moment to focus on her life. She was a loving, caring, compassionate woman who I was lucky to have for a mom. If she saw someone who needed help she would help them. “She may be gone, but the impact she had on the world and inspiration she provided most certainly is not,” he continued. “Please note I do not have any comment on the events or circumstances surrounding her death.”
