NO EARLY ELECTION Premier Robinson says she will call it when it’s time

remier Hon. Sharlene Robinson said she has no intentions of calling early elections in the Turks and Caicos Islands. General elections are due in December 2020 and the opposition Progressive National Party (PNP) has been urging the Premier to call it early. However, when she appeared on RTC Radio Show, ‘First Edition’ on Monday January 13th, the Premier stated that there is lots of work left to get done. “Election is no time soon. The government is working, election ain’t no time soon. Some people are going to be exhausted on the trail by the time election is called. Regrettably, some people are going to be off the trail by the time election is called. Let’s be real; we have a government that is working. We missed months after the storms (Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2007) and I don’t believe in campaigning to people about things that you don’t intend to deliver. If you see one or two promises that we didn’t deliver on, when we come to you, we’re going to say if this is where we are.” The Premier said she refuses to call elections because people want it to be called. “You call election when it’s time.
