ritish Prime Minister Boris Johnson has appointed 42-year-old Baroness Elizabeth Sugg as the new Minister for Turks and Caicos Islands and other Overseas Territories, replacing Lord Tariq Ahmad. Baroness Sugg’s appointment, which was announced during the prime minister’s Cabinet reshuffle last week Thursday, February 13th, perhaps explains why Lord Ahmad abruptly cancelled his widely-publicised visit to the Turks and Caicos Islands last week. Lord Tariq Ahmad will remain in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, but he will now be the minister for South Asia and the Commonwealth.

His Excellency Governor Nigel Dakin announced that Madame Justice Mabel Agyemang (pronounced Ajiman’) will be the new Chief Justice, while Mrs. Tanya Lobban-Jackson has been promoted from Chief Magistrate to Supreme Court judge, and Jolyon Hatmin promoted to Chief Magistrate. Madame Justice Agyemang, who is from Ghana, was the first Chief Justice of The Gambia. At present she is a Justice of the Court of Appeal in Ghana. She is a product of the University of Ghana and the Ghana School of Law, she was in private legal practice from 1987 to 1991 when she joined the Judiciary of Ghana. In
