THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATION and Prosecution Team (SIPT) suffered some major setbacks on the first day of its highly-publicised corruption trial when it failed in its bid to have three former Government ministers, a lawyer and two other citizens on a million dollars bail each in the magistrate’s court. And the SIPT also was unsuccessful in its request to have an English developer returned to his homeland with his passport, while putting up shares in land in the Turks and Caicos Islands as security. These were the highlights of a lengthy court hearing on Tuesday December 6th, which saw four former government ministers among nine persons who appeared before the Magistrate Clifton Warner on allegations ranging from bribery, conspiracy to defraud and money laundering. The accused were former deputy premier and minister of finance Floyd Hall; another former deputy premier and minister of education, and health and human services Lillian Boyce, former minister of immigration and labour Jeffrey Hall and former minister of Public Works, Samuel ‘Sammy’ Been. The other persons who appeared in court were Lisa Hall – Floyd Hall’s wife and his brother Quintin Hall; Earlson Robinson – brother of Lillian Boyce; attorney Melbourne Wilson and UK developer Richard Padgett. PRECIOUS TREASURES BROWNIES DELIVER CHRISTMAS COOKIES

On Wednesday, December 7, Brownies from the Precious Treasures Pre and Primary School in Providenciales, kick-started the true spirit of Christmas by visiting a number of establishments including, offices, supermarkets and the airport to dole out cookies to locals and visitors alike. The school said the gesture by the school’s Brownies coincided with the season, and the children were happy to have participated in the exercise. The SUN’s camera caught the Brownies on their mission on a number of the places visited. Here they are seen presenting cookies to a tourist at the Providenciales International Airport.
