This is not only a form of self-cultivation, but will also keep us from hurting or offending other people. We must respect the freedoms and rights of others, and not let ourselves be swayed by personal feelings; this is the very basic attitude we must adopt when dealing with other people. In addition, speaking gently, behaving modestly and courteously, forgiving others’ mistakes, and accepting constructive criticism are also very effective methods of self-cultivation. Scholarship: IES Date: July 2010 – June 2011 Name of School: Felicity Franklin High School Destination: Ohio, USA Hi Ratchaborikanukroh English Programm students my name is Supavadee Chotongdee. MMy friends in Thailand call me “Mameaw,” but my American friends call c me “Mable.” When I was in M.5 in the English Program, I got an IIES scholarship to study in American in grade 11 (junior class) at Felicity Franklin High in Ohio. I was so impressed with my year in the States that I decided to return to America where I am currently studying at Edmonds Community College in Washington State. It usually takes between 1 a 3 months for non-native speakers to adapt because Americans and sspeak peeak so quickly and use a lot of slang, but it took me only two weeks! Studying abroad has been such a great experience that I would like to say to anyone who gets the chance to be a foreign exchange student - go for it!!! Don’t be afraid of the unknown. Studying in another country is such an exciting and beautiful experience you can’t find anywhere else. As a foreign exchange student, you will experience other cultures, see and learn things that you would never have the opportunity to see and learn in Thailand and you will return home with wonderful life skills that will y for the rest helpp you of your life. Juust do do it!!! itt!!!! Just

A Message from the EP Body President Well, it’s finally here – the moment I have both looked forward to and dreaded – the end of my time in the English Program. I have been looking forward to it because it marks the beginning of the next phase of my life – the phase where I begin working towards becoming a productive part of Thai society as well as the global society in which we now all live. I’ve been dreading it because it means leaving this cocoon of warmth and safety which marks the English Program. It means stepping out and standing on my own for the first time. We, the M.6 class would like to express to Ajarn Kalayanee, her Thai staff and our foreign teachers our sincere thanks for making our time in the English Program so fulfilling and one we will remember for the rest of our lives. Without the support of everyone here, we would not be prepared to face the brave new world we are now entering for the first time as young adults. To those students who follow in our footsteps, I say pay attention to what your teachers tell you, not just about the subjects they teach, but also about the life lessons they share with you – they are valuable beyond money. Remember, never be afraid of making mistakes, for it is through those mistakes that we learn and grow. I am so proud to say I have graduated from the Ratchaborikanukroh English Program – a program that I will always call home.
