კეთილი იყოს თქვენი მობრძანება ჩვენი ავიაკომპანიის ბორტზე! „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისი“ იუბილარია _ 25 წე­­­­ლი შეუსრულდა. კომპანიამ 1993 წელს დაიწ­ყო ფრენა ჩარტერული რეისებით და პირველ წელს 25 ათასი მგზავრი გადა­ იყვანა, დღეისათვის კი წელიწადში უკვე 800 ათასამდე მგზავრი გადაჰყავს ორივე მიმართულებით და პირდაპირი რეისით ფრენას 25 ქვეყანაში ახორციელებს.

1999 წელს კომპანია „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისი“ საქართველოს ეროვნული ფლაგმანური ავიაგადამზიდავი გახდა და „ქართული ცის“ ლიდერობას დღემდე განუხრელად ინარჩუნებს უამრავი სუბიექტური თუ ობიექტური მიზეზით შექმნილი ბარიერის მიუხედავად, რომელთა გადალახვაც ამ რთული წლების განმავლობაში მოუხდა.

2000 წელს ჩვენი ავიაკომპანია პირველი იყო სამხრეთ კავკასიის რეგიონში, რო­ მელმაც Boeing-ის თვითმფრინავი შე­მო­იყვანა საქართველოში. იმ დღიდან მოყოლებული, სწორედ Boeing Corpo­ ration-თან ერთად მუდმივად ვმუშაობთ ჩვენი სერვისების დასახვეწად და ქარ­თული საავიაციო ინდუსტრიის განვითა­ რებისთვის. „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისი“ ღირსეულად პასუ­ხობს სწრაფად ცვალებადი ახალი დროების ყველა გამოწვევას, იქნება ეს

The company started charter flights in 1993 and provided service for 25 000 passengers in the first year; Now it transports around 800 000 passengers annually with round trips and has direct flights to 25 countries.

The company Georgian Airways became Georgia’s National Flag carrier in 1999 and continues to be a leader of „Georgian sky“, despite all objective and subjective obstacles, endured through difficult years.

In 2000, our aircompany was first in South Caucasian region to attain Boeing plane. Since then, we are continuing to work with Boeing Corporation to refine our service and continue expanding Georgian aviation industry.

Georgian Airways responds to ever-changing, modern challenges with honor – progressing number of passengers as a result of visa liberation and growing popularity of Georgia internationally, developing new technologies and diverse services, providing modern safety standards.

Last year, 11 new destinations were added to the company’s regular flight schedule. This created opportunities for providing new services. We established partnership with transport companies in different countries, hotel booking platforms, to offer various services to our passengers, making it possible for them to travel on favorable days with time and resource efficiency.

Providing secure flights for the passengers remains our main priority and we’re making our best efforts and expending resources, respectively. In 2017, the aircompany’s fleet was renewed and expanded. We’re constantly monitoring technical safety. სამშენებლო კომპანია ,,კომპანია ჯი დი ჯი“-ს მიმდინარე პროექტი ჭავჭავაძის #30 სრულდება 2018 წლის 30 დეკემბერს.

The current project of 30 Chavchavadze Ave. of the construction company GDG is coming to an end on December 30, 2018.

The story began 25 years ago, when a professional pilot Tamaz Gaiashvili decided to start unbelievably risky project – he intended to form a national aircompany… It’s easy to imagine the amount of hard work, strength, human and material resources needed to succeed in 90s Georgia, stricken by occupation of Georgian lands, economic crisis and corruption. Georgian Airways came to be a successful, trustworthy company, which was not encouraged by the government, even treated unfairly in contrast of its competing foreign companies.

Despite all, an idea became reality and the company created with Georgian capital, Georgian talent and Georgian courage proved viable – this courage, striving for progress and hard work made possible for Georgian Airways to endure all the hardships with minimal loss.

Georgian Airways is the oldest company in Georgia and whole post-soviet countries, and the most authoritative too, with its perfect work and professionalism. Consistently growing through years, the air carrier took a role of an ambassador of independent Georgia and promoted its country as an independent state in whole world.

ავიაკომპანია „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისმა“ პირველი რეისი 1993 წლის 25 სექტემბერს შეასრულა, თუმცა მაშინ სხვა სახელი ერქვა: „აირზენა _ საქართველოს ავიახაზები“ (ამ სახელით იარსება მან 2004 წლის პირველ ოქტომბრამდე). თავდაპირველად „აირზენა“ საბჭოური თვითმფრინავებით დაფრინავდა, თუმცა უკვე 2000 წლიდან დაიწყო ავიაპარკის განახლება და პირველად რეგიონში საქართველოში „ბოინგ 737“ მოდელის თვითმფრინავი შემოიყვანა. იმ პერიოდიდან დაიწყო „ბოინგთან“ თანამშრომლობა, რომელიც დღემდე წარმატებით გრძელდება. ამჟამად „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისის“ ავიაპარკშია სამი Boeing 737700/800, სამი Embraer 190 და ერთი Embraer 195, ორი CRJ. 2018 წლის ნოემბერში „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისის“ ავიაპარკი კიდევ სამი Boeing 737-800 თვითმფრინავით შეივსება.

At the present time, Georgian Airways has three Boeing 737700/800, three Embraer 190s, one Embraer 195 and two CRJs. The contract has been already signed and in 2020, the aircompany will attain five new Embraer E190-E2s; also, a contract has been signed with Boeing and in 2020-2024 five new Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes will be bought.

უკვე მოეწერა ხელი 2020 წლისათვის ხუთი ახალი Embraer E190-E2 ტიპის თვითმფრინავის შეძენის კონტრაქტს; ასევე, ხელმოწერილია ხელშეკრულება კომპანია „ბოინგთან“ 20232024 წლებში ახალი მოდიფიკაციის ხუთი Boeing: 737 MAX 8 თვითმფრინავის შეძენის თაობაზე. ისინი აღჭურვილია თანამედროვე სანავიგაციო სისტემებით და კომფორტული სალონებით, რაც მგზავრთა უსაფრთხო, შეუფერხებელი და კომფორტული ტრანსპორტირების გარან­ ტიაა. უსაფრთხოების მაღალი სტანდარტის უზრუნველსა­ყოფად „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისი“ თანამშრომლობს საავიაციო ინდუსტრიის საუკეთესო კომპანიებთან, როგორიცაა: Boeing, Hapag Lloyd, Lufthansa technic, Embraer და ა. შ.

Air carrier Georgian Airways had its first flight in September 25, 1993, the company was under a different name then: „Airzena – Georgian Airways“ (the company operated under this name until October 1, 2004). At first, Airzena fled soviet airplanes, but started enhancing the fleet in 2000 with first Boeing 737s in the region. That’s when the company started to cooperate with Boeing and the successful partnership continues to these days.

They have modern navigation systems and comfortable interior, which guarantee passengers’ safe, trouble-free and convenient transportation. To ensure high standard of safety, Georgian Airways cooperates with the best companies in aviation industry: Boeing, Hapag Lloyd, Lufthansa technic, Embraer, etc.

Georgian Airways planes are fled by experienced, qualified pilots.

Every crew-member is trained in theory and practice. They train on Boeing and CRJ planes repeatedly in every six months in Pan American Flight Academy (Miami, Florida), ICARE (France), UAB Cam & Cons (Vilnius, Lithuania), Malev (Hungary) training centers.

Georgian Airways pilots are certified in categories 2 and 3, which qualify them to operate in adverse weather conditions.

Georgian Airways became member of IATA (The International Air Transport Association) in 2010. The company underwent IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) that assessed operational safety of the flight. Since 2008, the company has successfully passed three IOSA audits; the last one took place in 2016 and is valid till March 2019.

2010 წელს „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისი“ IATA-ს (საერთაშორისო საჰაერო ტრანსპორტის ასოციაცია) წევრი გახდა. მანამდე ავიაკომპანიაში IATA-ს საექსპლუატაციო უსაფრთხოების აუდიტი (IOSA) ჩატარდა ფრენის უსაფრთხოების სტანდარტების დაცვის შესამოწმებლად. 2008 წლიდან ავიაკომპანიამ წარ­ მატებით გაიარა IOSA-ს სამი აუდიტი, აქედან ბოლო _ 2016 წლის ოქტომბერში, რომელიც ძალაშია 2019 წლის მარტამდე.

One of Georgian Airways’ main priorities is partnership with world leading air carriers – Georgian Airways has contracts with 18 large air companies. Such partnership makes the travel easier for air carrier’s passengers and helps them to safely travel to world’s any destination without delay. In 1993, the year air carrier was founded, Georgian Airways provided flights for 25 000 passengers, mainly, through charter flights, in 2017 the number was 800 000 (round trips), with direct flights to 25 countries among them. Since March 2018, 11 new destinations were added to the air carrier’s regular flights and the direct flight map was expanded. The new direct flight destinations are Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, Berlin, Koln, Bologna, Athens, Salonica, Bratislava, Kharkov and Kazan. With services provided by air carrier’s partner companies, Georgian Airways’ passengers continue their travel to any location in the world.

Life is becoming more and more fast-paced in third millennium and things are changing rapidly; this creates new challenges for companies in any field. Georgian Airways responds to these challenges with quality and is constantly oriented towards progress; adding new regular flights became an answer to new challenges.

According to 2018 statistics provided by Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Civil Aviation Agency, in six months period Georgian airports provided service to 2 103 149 passengers.

In comparison with last year’s six months period, passenger rate has increased by 30.79% and by 94.23% in comparison with similar period in 2016.

UNWTO 2018, after researching world tourism, ranked Georgia as 4th country with rapid growth in tourism (by 27.9%). Growth of passengers in Georgia is expected in the future and Georgian Airways is ready for this challenge. The facts back up this statement, as Georgian Airways provided regular flights for more passengers in first six months of 2018, than any other company – market share of 12% (more customers than Turkish Airlines and Wizz Air).

Demands are growing among Georgian citizens, not only for direct flights to Europe (after visa liberation) but for Tbilisi-Moscow flights.

The same applies to European locations: regular direct flights provide comfortable and fast travel for the aircompany’s passengers.

Georgian Airways schedule is planned in a manner, that makes it easier for passengers to travel to any European city and return from another one: for instance, if the passenger is traveling to Vienna on Sunday (the flight is scheduled twice a week – on Thursdays and Sundays) and is planning to return on Tuesday, they can travel to Bratislava by train (which takes less than an hour) and return to Tbilisi by Georgian Airways’ direct flight. The same goes for London and Brussels: if the passenger is planning to return on days without scheduled direct flights to Tbilisi, they can take one-hour trip to Paris and return home by Georgian Airways direct flight.

Last year, the aircompany chose Bologna Airport for direct flights to Italy, as Bologna is a center of Italy. It usually takes 2 hours to get to the Milan center from the Milan–Malpensa Airport because of heavy traffic; it takes only 50 min to travel from Bologna Airport to Milan center by train, 50 min to Florence, 1 h 30 min to Venice and 2 hours to Rome, from Bologna. Bologna Airport is less crowded than any other Italian airport, you get your luggage faster, leave the airport in 5 minutes and travel to any Italian city by train.

The company has covered whole Western Europe with its multimode flights. Georgian Airways provides new flights during daytime as it’s more comfortable and safer. Expanding the flight network, acquiring new airplanes, starting cargo flights, offering new services and partnership to different companies also meant hiring new staff and bringing new creative thinking into the company. Georgian Airways participated this year and will continue to do so in various Humanitarian, Arts and Sports Projects and worked closely together with the Georgian National Tourism Department and foreign Embassies to develop the touristic interest for Georgia abroad.

Kutaisi is a city of artistic, bohemian and joyful people. It has thousand-year-old history, bourgeoisie style from 19th century, intellectual spirit from the beginning of 20th century and Soviet industrial past.

ეს უძველესი ქალაქი, არქეოლოგიური წყაროების მიხედვით, 100 ათასი წლის წინათ ყოფილა დასახლებული. ძვ. წ. According to archaeological findings, this ancient city was populated 100 000 years ago. From 15-13th centuries BCE, the Colchi culture was spread here and it is proven by numerous artifacts. Kutaisi is mentioned in Greek antique literature. „Argonautica“ by Apollonius Rhodius (3rd century BCE) tells a story of Minos era (17-15th c.c. BCE), the mythical King Aeëtes palace was located here. Nearby, in Ares Meadow, was an oak tree with Golden Fleece on top, which was guarded by dragon.

In ancient era, early medieval centuries and even afterwards, Kutaisi was considered the main city of western Georgia (Colchi, Egrisi, Lazeti and Abkhazia). In historical sources it is mentioned as an important geopolitical destination. In 3-5th centuries Kutaisi is a capital of Egrisi-Lazika kingdom.

VIII საუკუნის ბოლოს კი _ ეგრისისა და აფხაზეთის ერთიანი სამეფოს ცენტრი. 978 წელს მეფე ბაგრატ III-მ გააერთიანა საქართველო, რომლის დედაქალაქიც ქუთაისი გახდა. ის 1122 წლამდე ქვეყნის სატახტო ქალაქია. სამეფო სასახლე და ციხე-გალავანი განახლდა, 1003 წელს კი აკურთხეს ღვთისმშობლის მიძინების ეკლესია, რომელსაც ბაგრატის ტაძარს უწოდებენ. 1089 წელს ქუთაისში მეფედ ეკურთხა საქართველოს დიდი მონარქი დავით აღმაშენებელი. მან გაათავისუფლა თბილისი არაბებისაგან და ტახტი ქუთაისიდან იქ გადაიტანა. ქუთაისის დღევანდელი ისტორიული ცენტრი, ძირითადად, XIX საუკუნეში ჩამოყალიბდა. სწორედ იმხანად გაშენდა არა მხოლოდ სხვადასხვა არქიტექტურული სტილის საცხოვრებელი 16 /

GEORGIA

In 4th century Kutaisi was capital of Egrisi kingdom. At the end of the 8th century, it was the centre of Egrisi and Abkhazia United Kingdom.

In 978 king Bagrat III united Georgia and Kutaisi became its capital city.

Kutaisi was capital city and a royal seat until 1122. The royal palace and castle was renewed, in 1003 the Cathedral of the Dormition was finished, which now is called Bagrati Cathedral. In 1089 the great Georgian monarch David the Builder became a king in Kutaisi. He freed Tbilisi from Arabs and moved the royal seat from Kutaisi to Tbilisi.

The historical centre of Kutaisi was formed in 19th century. Most of buildings with various styles of architecture were built (with classic features), also, numerous factories and ventures, highclass hotels, boulevard and the dance-floor. In 1868 the first metallic bridge in Caucasus – The Red Bridge was built in Kutaisi.

You should discover this part of the city too, along with ancient sites. Kutaisi Royal District is built around White Bridge. VII-XIX საუკუნეებიდან გვიანფეოდა­ლუ­რი ხანის ჩათვლით 150 000-ზე მეტი ექსპონატი ინახება. ქუთაისი თბილისიდან 231 კმ-ითაა (109 მილი) დაშორებული. აქვეა კოპიტნარის საერთაშორისო აეროპორტიც.

Make sure you visit Kutaisi State Historical Museum where more than 150 000 items from 9-7th c.c. BCE up to late medieval times are exhibited. Kutaisi is located in 231 km from Tbilisi. It also has Kutaisi International Airport.

BAGRATI CATHEDRAL The Cathedral of the Dormition, or Bagrati Cathedral was the main symbol of united Georgia in 11th century. It was built during the reign of king Bagrat III, in 1003. The magnificent ruins of the cathedral, which was in UNESCO World Heritage list, was restored in 2000s. After restoration the cathedral was removed from the list. It’s still worthy to see this landmark architecture, beautiful domed building. The proportions of its arches and columns, its ornamentations are breathtaking. The Bagrati Cathedral is often considered pre-European Roman style architecture.

GELATI MONASTERY

გელათის სამონასტრო კომპლექსი ქუთაისთან ახლოს მდებარე გელათამდე ავტომანქანით სულ რამდენიმე წუთის სავალია. აქ არა მარტო ქრისტიანული სავანე, არამედ უძველესი უნივერსიტეტი (შემორჩენილია ნანგრევები) – გელათის აკადემიაც მდებარეობდა, რომელიც 1106 წელს დავით აღმაშენებლის თაოსნობით დაარსდა. ის საქართველოს ოქროს ხანაში ევროპული ტიპის ერთ-ერთი უმთავრესი საგანმანათლებლო ცენტრი იყო. ამ უმაღლეს სასწავლებელს „მეორე იერუსალიმად“, „სხუად ათინად“ მოიხსენიებდნენ. გალავნით შემოზღუდული არქიტექტურული ანსამბლი (ძირითადად, XII-XIII სს.) იუნესკოს კულტურული მემკვიდრეობის ნუსხაშია. ულამაზესი ტაძრის ინტერიერში უნიკალური მოზაიკა და სხვადასხვა ეპოქის მხატვრობაა, მათ შორის, მეფეთა პორტრეტები, ასევე, დავით აღმაშენებლის ფრესკა. აქვეა ამ დიდი მეფის საფლავი უნიკალური ეპიტაფიით. გელათი უმდიდრესი სამონასტრო­ფეოდალური მამული და მეფეთა საძვალეც იყო.

ვანის არქეოლოგიური მუზეუმი ძველი კოლხეთის სურათები თქვენ თვალწინ გადაიშლება, როცა იმერეთის პატარა ქალაქის, ვანის განაპირას, ბუნებრივ ბორცვზე აღმოჩნდებით. მდინარე რიონის მარცხენა სანაპიროზე არქეოლოგიური მუზეუმ-ნაკრძალი მდებარეობს. როგორც ისტორიკოსები ამბობენ, პონტოს (შავი) ზღვა ანტიკურამდელ ხანაში ამ ქალაქამდე უწევდა და მერე თანდათანობით უკან დაიხია. მის უკუსვლას გაჰყვა ოქრომრავალი კოლხეთის დიდებაც და მითიური მედეას გრძნეული ცოდნაც. მუზეუმ-ნაკრძალში შეგიძლიათ დაათვალიეროთ ვანის ნაქალაქარი, ექსპედიციის ბაზა და მუზეუმი, რომელშიც არქეოლოგიური მასალის დიდი ნაწილი ინახება (მოიცავს პერიოდს ძვ. წ. You can get to Gelati in just few minutes by car from Kutaisi. It’s not simply a Christian monastery but is an ancient university too (ruins are preserved) – Gelati Academy was founded in 1106 by David the Builder. It was one of the main educational centers in Golden Age Georgia. This academy was even called a „second Jerusalem“. The architectural assemble surrounded by an ancient fence (12-13th c.c.) is in UNESCO World Heritage list.

Beautiful church’s interior includes unique mosaic and paintings from different eras, king portraits and fresco of David the Builder among them. King David the Builder’s tomb with unique epitaph is also here. Gelati was one of the richest monastery and feudal land with tombs of monarchs.

VANI ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM The visions of ancient Colchi will come alive before your eyes if you visit small town Vani in Imereti and climb on a hill. On the left shore of river Rioni, you’ll find Vani Archeological Museum and protected site. As historians claim, the Black Sea shores were expanded to this place in pre-antique age and then it eventually moved to its present location. The glory of golden Colchis and Medea’s knowledge of magic faded away. You can discover ancient traces of Vani, base of the expedition and a museum at Vani Archeological Museum and protected site. The museum exhibits archaeological findings from 8th-1st centuries BCE. You’ll find exposition representing Vani in antique times. Architecture, goldsmith’s work, bronze statues and their fragments are unique artefacts of ancient Black Sea culture. Some of the golden objects discovered in this area are also exhibited in Georgian National Museum. Vani antique ruins on the pilot list of UNESCO World Heritage, since 2007. Vani is located 41 km from Kutaisi and you’ll get there in 20-25 min by car.

ანტიკური შავიზღვისპირეთის კულტურის უნიკალური ატრეფაქტებია. ვანი პრეისტორიული და ანტიკური ხანის ექსპონატების ნამდვილი „საბადოა“. აქ მოპოვებული ოქროს ნივთების ნაწილი საქართველოს ეროვნული მუზეუმის ოქროს ფონდშიც ინახება. ვანის ანტიკური ნაქალაქარი 2007 წლიდან იუნეს­კოს მსოფლიო მემკვიდრეობის საცდელ ნუსხაშია შეტანილი. ქუთაისიდან 41 კმ-ით დაშორებულ ვანში ავტომობილით 20-25 წუთში ჩახვალთ.

სათაფლია დინოზავრების ხანაში მოგზაურობა ქუთაისიდან 8 კმ-ში მდებარე სათაფლიის ნაკრძალში თქვენთვის განუმეორებელი თავ­ გადასავალი იქნება. ამ ადგილებში კლდოვან ქანებზე 50-60 მლნ წლის წინათ დააბიჯებდნენ მტაცებელი და ბალახისმჭამელი დინოზავრები, რომელთა 200-მდე ნაკვალევი სათაფლიაში დღემდე შემორჩენილია. 350 ჰექტარ ტერიტორიაზე იშვიათი ჯიშის ხეები და უნიკალური კარსტული მღვიმეებია, სადაც ზამთარ-ზაფხულ ჰაერის ტემპერატურა +14 გრადუსია. ეს თვალწარმტაცი ქვაბულები მიწის სიღრმეში მილიონობით წლის განმავლობაში ნაჟური წყლით ყალიბდებოდა. საკვირველი, სხვადასხვაფრად განათებული სტალაქტიტებისა და სტა­ლაგმიტების ფანტასტიკური სამყარო საუკეთესო ადგილია, რათა ყოველდღიურ ხმაურს გაერიდოთ და თავი ბუნებისა თუ ისტორიის ნაწილად იგრძნოთ. ქუთაისიდან ავტომანქანით სათაფლიამდე მისასვლელად დაახლოებით 10-15 წუთი დაგჭირდებათ.

პრომეთეს მღვიმე ქუთაისიდან 40 კმ-ის დაშორებით, წყალტუბოს მუნიციპალიტეტში მდებარე პრომეთეს (ყუმისთავის) მღვიმე ბუნების უნიკალური ძეგლია, სადაც ქვედაცარცული კირქვების მარადიულ საუფლოში აღმოჩნდებით. აქ შეგიძლიათ ფეხითაც იაროთ და ნავითაც გაისეირნოთ 16 უმშვენიერეს, ზღაპრულ დარბაზში, სადაც უხვადაა სტალაქტიტები, სტალაგმიტები, ჰელიქტიტები, ფარდები, გაქვავებული ჩანჩქერები, მღვიმური მარგალიტები, მიწისქვეშა მდინარეები, ტბები და სხვა. პრომეთეს მღვიმეში სპელეოლოგიურ „შედევრებს“ იხილავთ და ძალზე ამაღლებული შთაბეჭდილებები დაგეუფლებათ, მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ მიწისქვეშ იმყოფებით. ქუთაისიდან პრომეთეს მღვიმემდე მგზავრობას ავტომანქანით დაახლოებით 20-25 წთ სჭირდება.

PROMETHEUS CAVE Located 40 km from Kutaisi, in Tskaltubo, Prometheus Cave is unique landscape of limestone. You can walk here or take a boat into 16 picturesque, dreamlike halls with stalactites, stalagmites, helictites, drapes, waterfalls turned in stones, cave pearls, underground rivers, lakes, etc. You’ll come across speleological masterpieces in Prometheus Cave and will definitely be impressed. It takes 20-25 min to get to Prometheus Cave from Kutaisi by car.

XI საუკუნის სამონასტრო კომპლექსი ქართული რელიგიური არქიტექტურის მნიშვნელოვანი ძეგლია, რომლის ინტერიერშიც ხის ორ მოჩუქურთმებულ ლომზე დაბრძანებულ ლუსკუმაში ქრისტესთვის მოწამე ძმების, დავით და კონსტანტინე მხეიძეების (VIII ს.) წმინდა ნეშტები ინახება. მათ საუკუნეების განმავლობაში მაკურნებელ თვისებებს მიაწერდნენ. ინტერიერში შემორჩენილია XIX საუკუნის საკურთხეველი სახარების სიუჟეტებით. მოწამეთობის დღესასწაულზე, 15 ოქტომბერს მორწმუნეები აქ საქართველოს სხვადასხვა კუთხეებიდანაც ჩამოდიან. ტრადიციულად, სურვილის ჩაფიქრების შემდეგ, მომლოცველები საძვალის ქვეშ გაივლიან და წმინდანთა ნაწილებს პატივს მიაგებენ. მოწამეთა ქუთაისიდან 6 კმ-ის დაშორებით, ავტომანქანით 10 წუთის სავალზე, მდინარე წყალწითელას ხეობაში მდებარეობს.

კაცხის სვეტი ეს უნიკალური სვეტი საუკუნეების წინათ განდეგილ ბერთა სამყოფელი იყო. მეცნიერთა აზრით, 40 მეტრის სიმაღლის კირქვის დედუნაციური, ე. წ. შთენილი კლდე ქრისტიან მესვეტეთა მოღვაწეობას უკავშირდება, რომელიც VI საუკუნეში გავრცელებული იყო. სვეტის ზედა ბაქანზე V-VI საუკუნეების ორი მცირე ზომის ეკლესიის შემორჩენილი ნაშთები ბოლო წლებში აღადგინეს. აქ აღმოჩენილია კირქვის ქვათლილი XIII საუკუნის ასომთავრული წარწერით და სამარხებიანი კრიპტა. კაცხის სვეტზე ალპინისტური აღჭურვილობის გარეშე მოხვედრა შეუძლებელია. ამჟამად იქ მოღვაწე ბერი მაქსიმეს დამსახურებით, სვეტის ძირში და თავზე სამლოცველოები აღდგენილია. სვეტზე ასვლა აკრძალულია. ადგილობრივი ბერების კურთხევით, გამონაკლის შემთხვევაში მხოლოდ მამაკაცები დაიშვებიან, მაგრამ მთების სიმწვანეში ჩაფლული ამ უნიკალური ძეგლის ხილვა ნამდვილად ღირს. სოფელი კაცხი ქალაქ ჭიათურიდან 11 კილომეტრითაა დაშორებული.

MOTSAMETA MONASTERY Into green landscape, surrounded by beautiful sites, Motsameta Monastery will inspire you with its dome and four crosses, bell-tower and two towers. This monastery from 11th century is an important pillar of Georgian religious architecture. Inside you’ll discover the tomb of two saint brothers Davit and Konstantin Mkheidze set on two wooden lions. They’re considered to have healing powers.

There is an altar from 19th century with frescos. On the Motsameta celebration, October 15, people come from around Georgia. After making a wish, they crawl under the tomb and honour the saints.

Motsameta is situated in 6 km from Kutaisi, into river Tskaltsitela valley. You can get there in 10 min by car.

KATSKHI PILLAR This unique pillar, centuries ago has been home for monks.

According to scientists, this limestone which is 40 m in height, is closely linked to early Christians in 4th century. There are ruins of two small churches from 5-6th centuries on top of the pillar which have been recently restored. Limestone with majuscule inscriptions from 13th century and tombs were also discovered here. You can’t climb the Katskhi Pillar without mountaineer equipment. The monk Maxime restored chapels on top and foot of the pillar. Climbing on the pillar is forbidden and some monks may give permission to men. It’s still worth to see this unique landmark hidden into mountains.

Katskhi is located in 11 km from town Chiatura.

ოკაცეს კანიონი თუ სიარული თქვენი სტიქიაა, მაშინ ოკაცეს კანიონის დათვალიე­რებით ნამდვილად ისიამოვნებთ. ეს რთული პალეოგრაფიული და გეომორფოლოგიური აგებულებით გამორჩეული, თვალწარმტაცი კომპლექსია. ის ხონის მუნიციპალიტეტის სოფელ ზედა გორდის მიდამოებში მდებარეობს; მდინარე ოკაცე 14 კილომეტრზეა გადაჭიმული და ამ ხეობაში იშვიათი მცენარეული საფარი, განსაკუთრებით, ასწლოვანი ბზები მოგხიბლავთ. კანიონამდე მისასვლელი გზა ულამაზეს ტყე-პარკზე გადის. გაითვალისწინეთ, რომ საფეხმავლო ბილიკი საკმაოდ გრძელია, ხოლო ტყე-პარკის გარეთ მდებარე საავტომობილო გზა მხოლოდ მაღალძარიანი მანქანებისთვისაა. როცა ოკაცეს კანიონში შეხვალთ, უზარმაზარი კლდეები, მღვიმეები, ბუნებრივი ქვახიდები, ქვემოთ, შორს მიმავალი ლურჯი მდინარე და ჩანჩქერები დაგავიწყებთ, რომ უსასრულო ლითონის კიბეები და ხიდებია გასავლელი. კანიონის სიღრმე 35-50 მ-ია. კვლევის შედეგად გაირკვა, რომ ტბიური ნალექების ქვედა ნაწილში დაცულია ფლორის არქაული, გადაშენების პირას მყოფი სახეობები. კანიონი ქალაქ ხონიდან 21 კმ-ის დაშორებით მდებარეობს; წყალტუბოდან ან ქუთაისიდან იქ საგანგებო ტურითაც შეგიძლიათ გაემგზავროთ.

OKATSE CANYON If you’re into walking, then discovering Okatse Canyon will be rewarding. It is a complex paleographic and geomorphologic, picturesque place.

The canyon is located in Khoni municipality, in village Upper Gorda. River Okatse is stretched across 14 km and its valley will enchant you with its rare fauna, especially violet willows that are hundreds of years of age. You’ll get to the canyon through beautiful forest or by road which is only intended for Jeeps.

When you walk through Okatse Canyon, you’ll soon will be distracted from endless metal stairs you have to endure, by huge rocks, caves, stone bridges, blue river and waterfalls. The canyon is 35-50 km in depth.

Rarest, almost extinct flora was discovered on the bottom of the lake.

The canyon is located in 21 km from Khoni; you can also travel there from Kutaisi or Tskaltubo with special tours.

UNIQUE ARCHIVE OF ZUBALASHVILI BROTHERS IS IN GEORGIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM ცნობილი მრეწველებისა და ქველმოქმედების, ძმები ზუბა­ ლაშვილების უნიკალური არქივი თიბისის მხარდაჭერით საქართ­ველოს კუთვნილება გახდა და საქართველოს ეროვნულ მუზეუმს გადაეცა. საქართველოში დაბრუნებული არქივი ისევე ვრცელია, როგორც თავად ზუბალაშვილების მიერ სამშობლოსთვის გაწეული ქველმოქმედება. როგორც ირკვევა, ძმებმა ქვეყანას არა მხოლოდ მატერიალური და არქიტექტურული სიმდიდრე, არამედ ინტელექტუალური მემკვიდრეობაც დაუტოვეს. არქივი უხვი და ჟანრულად მრავალფეროვანია. მოიცავს როგორც წიგნებსა და ფოტოალბომებს, ისე თავად ზუბალაშვილების გვარის ისტორიას, პირად ნივთებს, ბიოგრაფიებსა და გაწეული თუ დაგეგმილი ქველმოქმედების დეტალებს. ეროვნული მუზეუმისთვის უსათუოდ დიდი შენაძენია ცნობილი ფოტოგრაფის, დიმიტრი ერმაკოვის ნამუშევრების რამ­დენიმე კრებული, რომელიც თბილისის, საქართველოს სხვადასხვა რეგიონისა და მთელი კავკასიის ბუნებისა და ადამი­ანების ყოფას ასახავს: ლანდშაფტები, მთარგრეხილები, ცხენებშებმუ­ლი ეტლები, თავადიშვილებისა და გლეხების პორტრეტები. აქვეა ფოტომასალა, რომელიც თბილსის სახალხო სახლისა და უნივერსიტეტის ისტორიული შენობის მშენებლობას აღწერს, რაც უნივერსიტეტისთვის, რომელიც წელს დაარსებიდან ასი წლის იუბილეს აღნიშნავს, განსაკუთრებული საჩუ­ქარი იქნება.

Unique archive of renowned businessmen and humanitarians, Zubalashvili brothers now belongs to Georgia, with support of TBC and is transfered to Georgian National Museum.

An archive that arrived in Georgia is as vast, as the philanthropy work done by Zubalashvili brothers for their homeland.

It turns out, the brothers’ legacy for the country is not only material and architectural, but intellectual as well. An archive is rich and diverse. It assembles books and photograph albums, history of Zubalashvili family, personal belongings, biographical works and details of planned or fulfilled charities.

ზუბალაშვილების ნაანდერძევი არქივი იმასაც შეგვახსენებს, თუ რამდენის გაკეთება შეძლო ამ ერთმა ოჯახმა მთელი ქვეყნისთვის. არქივის მოცულობისა და სიძველის გათვალის­ წინებით, მისი საქართველოში ჩამოტანის პროცესიც ხანგრძ­ ლივი იყო. როგორც პროექტის ავტორი ეკა ენუქიძე იხსენებს, ყველაფერი რამდენიმე წლის წინ პარიზში, პეტრე ზუბალაშვილის შვილთაშვილის, ვირჟინი ანლარის გაცნობიდან დაიწყო, რომელმაც სურვილი გამოთქვა, მის ოჯახში დაცული ზუბალაშვილი-ანლარის შტოს არქივი სამშობლოსთვის ეჩუქებინა. არქივი საქართველოში თიბისის ხელშეწყობით, საქართველოს საგარეო საქმეთა სამინისტროსა და ავიაკომპანია „ჯორჯიან ეარვეისის“ თანამონაწილეობით ჩამოვიდა.

collections of renowned photographer, Dmitri Yermakov. These are the photographs of Tbilisi, Georgia’s different regions, Caucasian nature and people; landscapes, mountain chains, horse-ridden carriages, portraits of noblemen and farmers.

There’s also the collection of photographs that illustrate building process of Tbilisi Community House and historical university building, which is a special gift for Tbilisi State University celebrating a 100-year anniversary.

The Zubalashvili archive serves as e reminder of how much one family was able do for its country. Taking into account the volume and antiquity of the archive, its transportation to Georgia took long. As Eka Enukidze, an author of the project recalls, it all started couple of years ago, in Paris, when she met great grandchild of Peter Zubalashvili, Virginie Enlart.

She expressed desire to give Georgia the Zubalashvili-Enlart family archive as a gift. The archive was transported to Georgia with support of TBC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and air carrier Georgian Airways.

History of Zubalashvili dynasty, as a family of businessmen started from Jacob Zubalashvili – a merchant and industrialist at the beginning of 19th century. He had already gained a great fortune at 30s, in 1837 he established the first Georgian trade association. In 1838, based on the association’s request to the government, the first sugar refinery in Caucasus was built, the produce was called „Georgian Sugar“ and the factory gave jobs 27

ზუბალაშვილების, როგორც საქმიანი გვარის ისტორია, მეცხრამეტე საუკუნის პირველ ნახევარში მოღვაწე ვაჭრისა და მრეწველის, იაკობ ზუბალაშვილისგან იწყება. უკვე ოცდაათიან წლებში მან დიდძალი ქონების დაგროვება შეძლო, 1837 წელს კი პირველი ქართული სავაჭრო ამხანაგობა ჩამოაყალიბა.

1838 წელს თბილისში სწორედ ამ ამხანაგობის მთავრობისადმი თხოვნის საფუძველზე გაიხსნა ამიერკავკასიაში პირველი შაქრის ქარხანა, რომლის პროდუქციასაც „ქართული შაქარი“ ეწოდებოდა, საწარმო კი უამრავ ადამიანს ასაქმებდა. მართალია, მას დიდხანს არ უარსებია, მაგრამ თავად იაკობ ზუბალაშვილისა და ამხანაგობის საქმე სულ უფრო წინ მიდიოდა: მალე მან იმერეთში პირველი არყის ქარხანა გახსნა, 1842 წელს კი თბილისში ქარვასლა ააგო, რომელიც სავაჭროებს, საწყობებს, ღვინის სარდაფებსა და სასტუმროს აერთიანებდა. მეცხრამტე საუკუნის მეორე ნახევარში ზუბალაშვილების გვარის სახელი იაკობის ვაჟმა, კონსტანტინემ გააგრძელა, რომელმაც სამხედრო სამსახურს ჯანმრთელობის გამო თავი ანება და ხელი, მამის მგავსად, წარმოებას მიჰყო. პირველ ქველმოქმედ ზუბალაშვილად შეიძლება სწორედ ის დავასახელოთ _ კონსტანტინე ზუბალაშვილი ფინანსურ დახმარებას უწევდა კათოლიკურ და ქართულ სკოლებსა და გაზეთებს. სწორედ მისი ვაჟიშვილები იყვნენ ყველაზე ცნობილი ზუბალაშვილები, ძმები სტეფანე, პეტრე და იაკობი, რომელთა სახელებსაც უკავშირდება თბილისის ყველაზე ცნობილი შენობების ისტორია: თბილისის მომავალი სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტის, „სახალხო სახლისა“ და ბიბლიოთეკა-სამკითხველოს, სადაც ამჟამად მარჯანიშვილის თეატრია განთავსებული, თბილისის მუსიკალური სკოლის (ამჟამად ნიჭიერ ბავშვთა სამუსიკო გიმნაზია), უპოვართა სახლისა მოხუცთათვის (ახლანდელი ბავშვთა პირველი მუნიციპალური საავადმყოფო) და უამრავი სხვა. რწმენით კათოლიკე ძმების შემწეობით აშენდა არაერთი კათოლიკური ეკლესია და გაიხსნა ქართული სკოლები. ასევე უდიდესია მათი წვლილი ქართველთა შორის წერა-კითხვის გამავრცელებელი საზოგადოების წინაშე. ლუვრის დიდებული მუზეუმის ერთ-ერთი დარბაზის კედელზე განთავსებულ მარმარილოს დაფაზე ამოტვიფრულია ექსპოზიციის შემომწირველთა სახელები, რომელთა შორის იაკობ ზუბალაშვილსაც ამოიკითხავთ. მადლიერმა სამშობლომ კი თბილისის ერთ-ერთ ცენტრალურ ქუჩას, სადაც ოდესღაც ძმების დაფინანსებით უპოვართა სახლი და უფასო სასადილო აიგო, მათი სახელი - ძმები ზუბალაშვილების ქუჩა უწოდა.

to many people. Although, the factory didn’t last long, Jacob Zubalashvili and trade association progressed further: soon the first Vodka plant was established in Imereti, in 1842 an Arcade was built in Tbilisi, which combined trade spots, warehouses, wine cellars and a hotel.

In the second half of 19th century, the legacy of Zubalashvili family was continued by Jacob’s son, Constantine, who had retired from military service due to his health issues and, like his father, became an industrialist. He can be named as the first Zubalashvili who did humanitarian work – Constantine Zubalashvili financially supported catholic and Georgian schools and newspapers. His sons were well-known Zubalashvili brothers - Stephan, Peter, and Jacob, whose names are associated with history of Tbilisi’s most recognized buildings: Tbilisi State University, public library - currently Marjanishvili Theater, Tbilisi music school (currently Music Gymnasium for Talented Children), a shelter for elderly (currently Municipal Pediatric Clinic N1), etc. The catholic brothers built number of catholic churches and Georgian schools. They also provided Society for the Advancements of Learning among the Georgians.

„There has always been something special about Georgian-Jewish relationships. Jews never had different language other than religious one, didn’t dress differently and didn’t live in ghettos.

Despite practicing other religion, they followed local traditions and didn’t dismiss Jewish customs at the same time. While Jews were pursued in numerous countries in the world, such process never took place in Georgia“. – says Lela Tsitsuashvili, art expert and researcher of Jewish culture in Georgia. She led the scientific project in National Museum of Georgia: „Jewish Cultural Heritage in National Museum of Georgia’s Collections“. The collections were researched, attributed, dated, exhibits were restored and conserved, data-base was created. According to Georgian manus0cripts from 9-11th c.c. Jews first appeared in Kartli after Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar (586 BCE) demolished Solomon’s first temple and exiled Jews from Jerusalem.

Despite the fact, that Jewish community lived in Georgia for many centuries, no scientific, historical or cultural research has taken place before the 20th century. „Everything started from Shalom Koboshvili.

After seeing his work, I felt something special through this primitive style: refreshing directness, unique, intriguing and attractive energy.

Back then, I was working in different field and my postgraduate thesis covered other subject, but I dropped the thesis and turned to something I had always longed for“, – says Lela Tsitsuashvili as she remembers the decision she made in 1995, when she was the only Jewish art expert in the country.

Shalom Koboshvili is the first Jewish painter in Georgia and his almost-fairy-taly story makes us motivated to learn more about Jewish culture. Following the Jewish custom, parents prohibited Koboshvili from taking painting classes and his wish came true at age 61. After founding Jewish Historical Museum in 1933, it turned out there was no Jewish painter or Jewish-themed paintings in Georgia. To collect museum exhibits, they invited Georgian artists, David Gvelesiani among them, to participate in regional expeditions and create paintings. At the same time, Koboshvili started working at the museum as a watchman and inspired by artistic process, he began painting in secret at night.

His paintings reflected his childhood spent in Akhaltsikhe, Jewish routine and religious traditions. Koboshvili’s work lasted for only three years before his death, but he had been able to create documentary-narrative style collection about Jewish life. Shalom Koboshvili is often compared to Pirosmani and he had even met him at the barrelhouse. Koboshvili claimed, that Pirosmani had promised to meet him again and even teach him how to paint.

Koboshvili’s personal exhibition was held in Jewish Museum in 1940 and had remained as a permanent exhibition before the museum was shut down. In 1951 the museum was shut down on the premise of it being Zionist institution and the collections were redistributed in other museums.

პროცესით შთაგონებულმა, ღამღამობით ჩუმად დაიწყო ხატვა. მან სახატავ ფურცელზე გადაიტანა ახალციხეში გატარებული ბავშვობა, ებრაული ყოფის ყოველდღიურობა და რელიგიურრიტუალური ტრადიციები. კობოშვილის შემოქმედება მხოლოდ 3 წელს გაგრძელდა (გარდაცვალებამდე), მაგრამ მან მოახერხა ქართველ ებრაელთა ცხოვრების მნიშვნელოვანი დოკუმენტურნარატიული კოლექციის შექმნა. შალომ კობოშვილს ხატვის მანერით ფიროსმანსაც ადარებენ და, როგორც თავად ყვებოდა, ერთხელ დუქანში პირადადაც კი შეხვედრია მას. ფიროსმანი კობოშვილთან მისულა და შეჰპირებია, რომ კიდევ ნახავდა და ხატვასაც ასწავლიდა. ამ ამბის შესახებ მეტი არაფერია ცნობილი.

1940 წელს ებრაულ მუზეუმში კობოშვილის პერსონალური გამოფენა გაიმართა, რომელიც მუზეუმის დახურვამდე მუდმივ ექსპოზიციაში დარჩა. 1951 წელს ებრაული მუზეუმი დახურეს, როგორც სიონიზმის კერა, ხოლო კოლექციები სხვადასხვა მუზეუმში გადანაწილდა. გარდა ფერწერული და გრაფიკული ნამუშევრებისა, საქართველოში ებრაული კულტურული მემკვიდრეობა მოიცავს ეთნოგრაფიულ, რელიგიურ თუ რიტუალური და საკულტო დანიშნულე­ბის ნივთებს, ხელნაწერებს, სამოსს, ქსოვილებს, აქსესუარებს და, რასაკვირველია, იმ ადგილებს სადაც ებრაული დიასპორა ცხოვრობდა და დღემდეა სინაგოგები და საფლავები. ამჟამად ეროვნული მუზეუმის ებრაული კოლექციების ნაწილი წარმოდგენილია დავით ბააზოვის საქართველოს ებრაელთა ისტორიის მუზეუმის ექსპოზიციაში. მარშრუტები საქართველოში ებრაული დასახლებები 20-ზე მეტ სხვადასხვა ქალაქსა თუ სოფელშია. გთავაზობთ 5 ყველაზე გამორჩეულ ადგილს ებრაული კულტურული მემკვიდრეობის მოსანახულებლად.

Apart from paintings, Jewish cultural heritage in Georgia contains ethnographic, religious, ritual and cult objects, dresses, textile, accessories and, certainly, the places where Jewish community had lived, with preserved synagogues and tombs. Nowadays, Jewish collections from National Museum are partially presented in David Baazovs’s Georgian Museum of Jewish History.

DESTINATIONS Jewish communities live in more than 20 different towns and villages in Georgia. We recommend 5 most prominent locations to discover Jewish cultural heritage.

TBILISI There are four synagogues in Tbilisi. Still working synagogue located on Kote Apkhazi Street was built by Jews who came from Akhaltsikhe in 1904. Huge, brick building is hidden on the street and creates unique spirit of city’s diversity: there are Jewish synagogue, Georgian orthodox cathedral and Armenian church almost next to each other in this district. There is another working synagogue near the big one, located on the side-street, which was also built by Jews who came from Akhaltsikhe. The third synagogue in this district is located on Anton Catholicos Street. The Jewish Museum was opened in this domed building, now it’s a home to David Baazovs’s Georgian Museum of Jewish History. The fourth former synagogue is now the Royal District Theatre. There are three Jewish cemeteries in Tbilisi: the oldest one is located in Navtlughi, second one is in Krtsanisi and the third cemetery is in the Varketili district.

KUTAISI There are three synagogues in this ancient city. Jewish population in Kutaisi had been constantly growing in 19th century. From 1820s to 1840s the number of families went from 57 to 840, in 1852

XIX საუკუნეში ქუთაისის ებრაული მოსახლეობა გამუდმებით იზრდებოდა. 1820-იანი წლებიდან 1940-იან წლებამდე მათი რიცხვი 57 ოჯახიდან 840 ოჯახამდე გაიზარდა, 1852 წელს კი 1105 ოჯახს მიაღწია. როგორც ამბობენ, ქალაქის სამი სინაგოგა ძლივს აუდიოდა მლოცვე­ ლებს. დღეს არცერთი მათგანი აღარ ფუნქციონირებს სრულყოფილად ხალხის სიმცირის გამო. რაბინი თბილისიდან მხოლოდ დღესასწაულების დროს ჩადის. გაპონოვის ქუჩაზე, სადაც სინაგოგა დგას, ყოველთვის არიან ტურისტები. ქუთა­ისში ებრაული უბნის რეაბილიტაცია და მისთვის პირვანდელი იერის დაბრუნება იგეგმება. ებრაელების სასაფლაო სამების ქუჩაზე მდებარეობს. ონი მაღალი მთებით გარშემორტყმული ონის სინაგოგა ქუთაისისა და თბილისის სინაგოგების შემდეგ სიდიდით მესამეა საქართველოში. თეთრი კირქვით ნაგები, გუმბათიანი სახურავითა და დავითის ვარსკვლავით შემკული შენობა ვარშავის დიდი სინაგოგის მიხედვით დააპროექტეს და 5-წლიანი მშენებლობის შემდეგ _ 1985 წელს დაასრულეს. ამბობენ, რომ სინაგოგის აგებაში საკუთარი წვლილი როტშილდებმა და ნობელებმაც შეიტანეს. 1970-იან წლებამდე ონში მრავალი ებრაული ოჯახი ცხოვრობდა. დღეს სინაგოგაში წირვა მხოლოდ მაშინ სრულდება, როცა იქ 10 ებრაელზე მეტი მოიყრის თავს. ეს კი იშვიათად ხდება. აქვეა ებრაელების სასაფლაო, სადაც როგორც ძველ, ისე საბჭოთა პერიოდის საფლავებს ნახავთ.

there were 1105 Jewish families in Kutaisi. Allegedly, city’s three synagogues almost couldn’t contain worshippers. Nowadays, none of them work because of lack of church-goers. Rabbi from Tbilisi only visits the synagogues on holidays. The Gaponovi Street, where the synagogue is located, is always buzzy with tourists. Restoration of Jewish district in Kutaisi is planned. Jewish cemetery is located on Sameba Street.

ONI Oni synagogue is surrounded by high mountains and is third biggest synagogue in Georgia after Kutaisi and Tbilisi ones. Built with white limestone, this domed synagogue decorated with the Star of David was planned alike the Warszawa Synagogue and was finished after five years, in 1985. Rothschild and Nobel families contributed to this project. There were number of Jewish families in Oni, before 1970s. Nowadays, the service is only held in this synagogue, if at least 10 Jews are present and this is hardly a case. There’s also the Jewish cemetery nearby, where you can find ancient or Soviet period tombs.

LAILASHI It’s not easy to reach Lechkhumi’s historic village but it’s worth trying. Lailashi is mentioned in historical sources from 18th century, although, archaeological material from 14-13th c.c. BCE was found there. Lailashi was populated with Georgians, Greeks, Jews and Armenians and they all had their own churches.

There are three main locations in the village: boulevard, Golden Springs with famous pool and the Bazaar, which once was packed with barrelhouses and workshops. One of the oldest synagogues in Georgia is located in the bazaar. It was built in 18th century and the famous Lailashian Bible was kept here. There are two Jewish cemeteries in the village. According to historical sources, over 1200 Jews lived in Lailashi and every one of them left.

The locals can still point out the lime-tree Akaki Tsereteli had danced under for the movie depicting his journey in Racha-Lechkhumi.

Several scenes from Georgian film „Me, Grandma, Iliko and Ilarioni“ were also shot in the village. After exhausting day, you can feel free to lie down in the grass of Lailashi Boulevard and no one will bother you.

AKHALTSIKHE According to historical sources, Jews first came to Akhaltsikhe from Byzantium. In ancient times, Akhaltsikhe was trading and craftsmanship center. Supposedly, this is why Jews chose to move here. The first synagogue was built with donations in 1863 (they have had the worshipping building before), the second one was built nearby, in Rabati district, in 1902. „Rabati – a Symbol of Tolerance“ is an epigraphy for the Jewish district in Akhaltsikhe. The ancient fortified city of Rabati is also located in this district and lots of tourists visit the place every day. There’s also a modern museum located in the fortress where you can also discover Jewish exhibition.

Fantasy and inventiveness, unique style and characteristic tasting palette give Imeretian cuisine a special spot in Georgian culinary. Imeretians are really boastful people and their dishes represent the same trait.

Imeretian variations of Georgian cuisine are never similar to the dishes made in Georgia’s other regions. Although, Imeretian lands give thin crops and there are less pastures than in eastern Georgia, Imeretians use their wit, thrift and creativity in cooking process.

You’ll discover centuries-old cooking traditions, variety of spices that gives Imeretian gourmet scene a unique twist.

The traditional kitchen-like building which is separated from the main house in Imeretian countryside is called a cookhouse (there is also tradition of summer cookhouse built with three spikes). The culinary masterpieces were made in huge cauldrons or pottery hung in fireplace or above open hearth. The best pottery was made in Imereti, so clay pots and pans are inherent part of its cuisine.

იმერული ხაჭაპური დასავლეთ საქართველოს კულინარიის „დედოფლად“ მიიჩნევა. მისი მთავარი საიდუმლო განსაკუთრებული გემოს მქონე ყველია, რომელსაც აფუებულ ცომში ათავსებენ, აბრტყელებენ და კეცზე აცხობენ. დავარგებული ყველი და სულგუნი იმერული ტრადიცია არ გახლავთ. ხაჭაპურში იმერლები უმთავრესად ჭყინტ, უმარილო ყველს იყენებენ; ხანგრძლივად შესანახად ყველს მარილწყალში ათავსებენ. მას იმერლები დერგის ყველს უწოდებენ. სახაჭაპურედ ისიც ვარგისია, ამისთვის წინასწარ, რამდენიმე საათის განმავლობაში წყალში ალბობენ. ცომის მოსაზელად წყალს (ან რძეს) და საფუარს იყენებენ, თუმცა ძველად დიასახლისები სახაჭაპურე ცომს უსაფუვროდ, ძალიან დიდხანს ზელდნენ. ამგვარი, ზელაში ამოყვანილი ცომი გამორჩეულად ფაფუკია. დღეისათვის ცომში კარაქსა და კვერცხსაც უმატებენ. კეცზე გამომცხვარი უგემრიელესი იმერული ხაჭაპური მაწიერია სადილობისასაც, საუზმეზეც და ვახშმადაც. იმერლები ამბობენ, რომ კუჭში ხაჭაპურისათვის ადგილი ყოველთვის მოიძებნება. მჭადისა და ღომის (სიმინდის ერთგვარი ფაფის) ტრადიცია დასავლეთ საქართველოს კუთხეების, სამეგრელოსა და გურიისათვისაც ორგანულია, მაგრამ იმერული სუფრა მჭადის გარეშე წარმოუდგენელია. იმერეთში მოყვანილ სიმინდს მეტად სახასიათო გემო აქვს. კეცზე, ბუხარში გამომცხვარი მჭადი, რომელსაც ცხობისას თავზე თუთის ფოთლებს აფენენ, და შუაცეცხლზე, კარდალაში მსხვილად დაღერღილი სიმინდისაგან მოხარშული ღომი იმერულ ყველთან ერთად – ჭეშმარიტი კულინარიული სიამოვნებაა. ორივე მათგანი იმერულ ნიგვზიან კერძებსა და მხალეულს ძალიან უხდება.

Imeretian khachapuri is considered a queen of western Georgian culinary. Its main secret lies in cheese with special taste, which is placed in risen dough, rolled out and cooked in a clay pan. Ripened cheese and sulguni is not exclusively Imeretian tradition. Imeretians make their khachapuri with young, unsalted cheese. They store the cheese in salted water and call this kind of cheese a „jar cheese“.

This kind of cheese is also fit for khachapuri and Imeretians store the cheese in salted water for few hours before cooking khachapuri.

They use water or milk and yeast for the dough, although, traditionally, the dough was being kneaded for long periods of time without using any yeast. This kind of dough is especially soft.

Nowadays, butter and eggs are also added to the dough. Delicious khachapuri cooked in clay pan is nutritious as a breakfast, dinner and supper too. As Imeretians claim, you can always find a place in your stomach for khachapuri.

ხორცეული და უნიკალური საწებელ-სოუსები ფრინველის, უფრო მეტად კი ქათმის ხორცს საქართველოში არსად ამზადებენ ისე გემრიელად, როგორც იმერეთში. ქათამი, ძირითადად კი _ ვარია, აქაურ ხორციან კერძებში უპირატესია. მას სხვადასხვა მეთოდითა და სხვადასხვა საწებლით მიირთმევენ. იმერული სამზარეულო ამ უგემრიელესი საწებელ-სოუსების გარეშე წარმოუდგენელია. მოხარშულ ვარიას იმერლები ნიორწყალში (ნივრის სოუსში) ათავსებენ. ამ წვენით გაჟღენთილი ახალდაკლული, მრგვლად მოხარშული ქათამი გამორჩეულად გემრიელია. მოხარშულ ან შემწვარ ვარიას ასევე ათავსებენ შეკმაზულ ბროწეულის წვენში. ეს კერძი იმერული სამზარეულოს ნამდვილი „ჰიტია“. ასეთივე პოპულარულია ე. წ.

Tradition of mchadi and ghomi (kind of corn porridge) is common in western Georgian regions – Samegrelo and Guria, but Imeretian table is unimaginable without mchadi. The corn harvested in Imereti has characteristic taste. Mchadi is topped with mulberry leaves while cooked in the fireplace, ghomi is made with coarsely ground corn in cauldron hung above open hearth and then matched with Imeretian cheese – this is true gourmet delight. Both these dishes go really well with Imeretian walnut-seasoned delicacies and pkhalis.

ტაბაკა, კეცზე შეპიწკინებული მთლიანი წიწილა ხრაშუნა კანით. საქართველოს ვერც ერთ კუთხეში ვერ შეჭამთ ასე ოსტატურად შემწვარ ტაბაკას, რომელსაც ძალიან უხდება ტყემლის საწებელი – უნიკალური, ქართული ენდემური მცენარის, ტყემლის (ქლიავის ნაირსახეობა) ნაყოფისაგან მომზადებული სოუსი სწორედ იმერეთში დაიბადა (მოხარშული, გახეხილი, სხვადასხვა სანელებლით, ქინძით, მწვანილების თესლითა და ომბალოთი შეზავებული ტყემლის საწებლის გარეშე ქართული საუფრა არასოდეს იშლება). ტაბაკასა და სხვა ხორციან კერძებთან მიირთმევენ იმერული სოუსების მეფეს – ბაჟეს. ეს დანაყილი ან გატარებული (ან დაბლენდერებული) ნიგვზის, მრავალფეროვანი სუნელებისა და ნივრისაგან შეკმაზული თხევადი საწებელი საუკუნეების განმავლობაში ქართული სუფრის მშვენებად იქცა. ის თევზეულის კერძებსაც ძალიან უხდება.

MEAT DISHES AND UNIQUE SAUCES Bird meats, especially, chicken is the most delicious in Imereti.

Young chicken dishes are the best in Imeretian meat culinary. It is cooked by various methods and is accompanied with different sauces. Imeretian cuisine is unimaginable without these delicious sauces. Boiled chicken is placed in garlic sauce. This juicy, wholly boiled chicken is especially delicious. Stewed or fried chicken is also placed in spicy pomegranate sauce. This dish is the real highlight of Imeretian cuisine.

Tabaka, or crispy chicken fried on clay pan is also very popular dish. You won’t taste more delicious chicken in any other Georgian region and it’s paired up with tkemali – unique sauce made of exclusively Georgian plum sort. This sauce was born in Imereti (Georgian feast is unimaginable without it: boiled, scrubbed Georgian plum seasoned with different spices, coriander, seeds of green herbs and penny-royal). Tabaka and other meat dishes are paired up with a monarch of Imeretian sauces – bajhe. This sauce made of pounded or crushed walnut, various spices and garlic has been a part of Georgian feast for centuries. It matches up with fish delicacies too.

On New Year’s Eve, likewise Georgia’s other regions, Imeretians make satsivi too – stewed turkey put in walnut sauce. Also, traditionally they fry whole piglet or a lamb in clay oven – the meat is marinated in spices and garlic beforehand. We recommend you to definitely give the piglet fried in a clay oven a try.

There are two highlights in Imeretian pork dishes – kuchmachi and kupati. Both these delicacies are made of chopped pig intestines and innards (there’s a chicken variation of kuchmachi too). Kupati is type of sausage which is fried before serving to table; kuchmachi is kind of hot pork salad, which is seasoned with unique Georgian spices, mainly with savory.

CHURCHKHELA AND SWEET ROLL Imeretians make this traditional Georgian churchkhela with nuts and mixture of boiled grape juice and corn porridge, a.k.a. felamushi. Churchkhela is basically nuts strung on 40 cm thread and dipped into hot porridge. It is stored for months and eaten in winter.

Imeretians also make sweet rolls with this sweet porridge – it’s dried out felamushi cut into thin pieces. They eat sweet rolls separately or wrap it around churchkhela. Churchlhela stored in this manner preserves its flavor and elasticity for longer periods of time.

IMERETIAN WINE Wine-making method of storing wine in qvevri is on UNESCO World Heritage list and it has been practiced in Imereti for thousands of years. Over hundred sorts of vine were harvested here, but only several sorts are present nowadays. Traditionally, wine pressed in grape-crushing tub was poured into qvevri – clay vessel partially buried in ground and clear, filtered grappa was added to speed up the fermentation process. Qvevri was then covered with cap and sealed with clay but small hole was left for air. They still make wine with this method in Imereti.

We recommend you to taste several special wine sorts: Krakhuna – white, strong (Madeira and port wines are also made with this vine sort), aged, diverse taste palette, harmonious wine. It’s paired up with meat dishes; Tsitska – soft, white (transparent beige) made of vine from carbonate containing soil, with fruity flavor; Tsolikauri – white and naturally semi-sweet, dessert wine with high alcohol content with sour notes; Otskhanian Saperavi (Sapere) – made of late-harvested vine, red, prominently aromatic wine; Aladasturi – red wine with strong bouquet and forest scent.

It is still possible, at an affordable price, to have a bath in the mosaic pool and relax tired muscles in the bathrooms of the XVII-XVIII centuries constructed under the influence of Iranian architecture, which was once a place of gathering and solving great and small cases.

Narikala is one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia that is very popular among the guests of Tbilisi. The fortresses that have survived to present day are dated back to the XVI-XVII centuries, while the construction of the castle began in the IV century. You can get there by ropeway in a few minutes from the centre of Tbilisi and from the top you can also take photos of those narrow streets, you have just walked. The ropeway runs from 9 am to 9 pm.

The first building of the Metekhi Church was built in the VI century, according to historical sources. At different times, it was a residence of Tbilisi Amir and host to the chambers of the Georgian kings, as well as the place where Turkish and then the Persian soldiers were garrisoned.

The church was damaged by thunderstorm. The current shape of the church dates back to 1289.

A historical Sioni Cathedral is the Cathedral of Tbilisi from the 5th century to the present day, and since 1920 it is a Patriarchal Cathedral as well.

According to historical sources, the building was originally built based on the plan of the church erected in the Garden of Gethsemane. The church was destroyed and robbed by Jalal Eddin, Timur Lang, Shah-Ismail, Shah Abbaz, Agha Mohammad Khan. Sioni Cathedral houses the cross of St. Nino, the woman who converted the Georgian people to Christianity.

„XVIII-XX საუკუნეების ქართული კოსტიუმი და იარაღი“

Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia presents exhibition „Georgian Attire and Weapons From 18th-20th Centuries“, where old era comes alive – men’s and women’s costumes from all regions of the country reflect the diversity of Georgian attire in terms of fabric, color, embroidery and ornaments. Royal dress of Teimuraz II, Nino Gurieli’s Georgian dress, Caucasian vice-regent Alexander Baryatinsky’s gown, attire from all regions of Georgia, with Abkhazian and Ingiloian women’s dresses offers the visitor a glimpse into fashion trends of that era.

Weapons and equipment made by Georgian-Caucasian technology are presented in 150 exhibits (there are 3000 pieces overall in Simon Janashia’s weapon fund). These are attacking or defensing weapons of various types: swords, daggers, battle whips, maces, cataphracts, shields, guns, flint and piston pistols, Colt, Lefaucheux, Gasser, Smith & Wesson and Nagant system revolvers, that were popular at the time in Georgia.

Visitors’ attention is focused on mil cannons of Erekle II and Teimuraz II, one of them was 192 cm long mil cannon found in kvevri, in Tbilisi, 2014. Historical sources confirm that during Krtsanisi Battle, David Batonishvili hid the mil cannons to prevent the enemy obtaining them. Supposedly, this exact exhibit was hidden in kvevri during those events.

All exponents from 63 countries around the world, which is associated with silk and sericulture, are exhibited in the main halls as a permanent exposure. A separate exhibition is dedicated to the tree of Mulberry with its leaves, wood cutting, parasites, sprouting and rooting. Here you will always find impressive temporary exhibitions. The house for writers and literary amateurs was built in 1903-1905. The terrace of the mansion is designed by ceramic tiles of the famous “Villeroy and Boch”. You can see similar tiles in the Cologne Cathedral in Germany and the Abbey of Einsiedeln in Switzerland.

Today the Writers’ House is a place of lively relations, meetings, as well as discussions.

There is a cosy and pleasant restaurant Littera in the inner garden of the building. The exterior of the old house and the pine trees create a special environment. The city center has a lot to offer! A single walk through the center of Vienna, Stephansplatz, is enough to see one of Vienna’s most beautiful and old buildings. Starting with St. Stephan’s Cathedral, Albertina muse-um, Hofburg Palace, which was once home to the infamous Princess Sissi, and so forth. Tours are offered on the inside of all the historical buildings, at a price affordable for any crowd. You also have the option of visiting the house of Mozart, which is a three-minute walk from the center.

The well-known art history museum of Vienna resides in the city center and is one of the many old buildings that have been preserved for over a century now with the original art displayed inside still intact.

The museum displays various sorts of collections starting from armor and Greek and Roman antiquities all the way to paintings dated back through the 16th and 17th centuries by well-known artists such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Velázquez and Italian Baroque painters.

How to get there: Train lines U2 and U3 will take you to a station called “Volkstheather”, from which the walk would only take about 5 minutes into a great green park, where the museum is located. The prices of the tickets are affordable and cost around €14 for adults, and for youngsters under the age of 19 get free entry. Hours: Tue – Sun 10AM-6PM

A regular singles ticket for adults costs €15, but with a students card, you get a dis-count €12,50. Though a little more costly, it is a museum definitely worth seeing!

The Albertina museum is one of the most visited places by tourists in Vien-na. This particular museum features the paintings of Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, René Magritte and many more.

The museum also of-fers photography exhibition and contemporary art created from the second half of the 20th century from artists such as Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter and many more.

This autumn, from the 26th of October until January 27th of 2019, the Albertina Museum will be devoting a solo exhibition to our very own well-known Georgian artist, Niko Pirosmani (1862-1918). His art including paintings of animals and every-day life captured by the artist in his vi-sion is symbolic and includes a deeper meaning than that on the surface. He embodies the vision of an outsider looking in, and thus presents his art-works for the open-minded and an objective point of view.

The Mauthausen Concentration Camp operated between the years of 1938 until its liberation by the US army in 1945. It served first as a prison and labor camp for male political prisoners, and later on be-came a death camp for Polish Jews and Soviet soldiers. Both males and females were crammed into the barracks and tortured and ex-hausted until death.

Today, it is a memorial place for all that have died in the camp during the years of operation. It is located about 2 hours outside of Vienna.

Visting the memorial is charge-free, however there are additional charges for guided tours, which are no more than €7.

First opened in May of 1869, the Vienna State Opera is one of the worlds leading opera houses. There are about 350 performances each season with many different operas and ballet performances. It is considered as one of the most important opera houses in the entire world, as it is the house with the largest repertoire in particular. Each year, the Vienna State Opera turns into the worlds most elegant ball room for the Vienna Opera Ball, which is a gala of the unique splendor and allure.

The ball is attended by about 5000 visitors, among them famous international celebrities from the world of business, politics, academia, sports and so forth, thus making the ball a very high-key social event.

The Plachutta restaurant has many locations, one of which is very close to the city center! It is a smart and beautiful restaurant serving Tafelspitz boiled beef and many more classic Viennese dishes. The servings are quite big, so to economize on spending, you can order one plate for two people and split it. The Schnitzel, sometimes referred to as the Wiener­ schnitzel, is an Austrian dish made of thin, breaded and pan-fried veal cutlet. One of the best places to get Schnitzel is Figlmüller – The Home of Schnitzel. Back in 1905, Johann Figlmüller had opened a small wine tavern on the central street of Vienna, Wollzeile, located behind the famous St. Stephan’s Cathedral. From the very start it captured the Viennese way of life just right as a restaurant which offered a fine place to wine and dine and celebrate on many occasions, with various choices of local wine and the very famous Schnitzel. The ingredients that make up a schnitzel are veal and it comes with a lemon and a potato salad as an appetizer. The average schnitzel at the Figlmüller restaurant costs approximately €15, an affordable price for a little piece of heaven!

Another option for shopping could be the Flea market at Vienna’s Naschmarkt. Already an institution, every Saturday around 400 sellers present their goods from 6:30AM-6PM. Ranging from pri-vate sellers to professional dealers, there is a very wide range of items to be purchased from high-value antiques all the way to small, humorous household items. GEORGIAN AIRWAYS ORGANIZED THE FLIGHT DISPLAY OF THE EMBRAER’S NEWEST PLANE SHARK E190-E2 The presentation of Brazilian company Embraer’s Newest Plane Shark E190-E2 was held in Tbilisi International Airport and later, a display flight from Tbilisi to Batumi was demonstrated for media representatives. The airplane was flown by Georgian Airways pilots. The plane with passenger capacity of 104 seats was presented by Givi Davitashvili, General Director and CEO of the air carrier Georgian Airways and Martyn Holmes, Vice President Europe, Russia, Central Asia & Leasing, Embraer Commercial Aviation.

To be noted, E190-E2 has been active since April 2018 and at this point is running commercial operations with Norway’s Widerøe. The plane has already scored 2 000 flight hours, which is an indicator of 99% reliable schedule. The air carrier Georgian Airways is planning to buy Shark E190-E2 in 2019.

Georgian Airways’ passengers are already serviced with three Embraer planes, by 2019, the company plans to buy five more new aircrafts. „The company has three old Embraer planes and the fourth one will be here in few months. When it comes to differences between old and new models, the new plane needs less fuel and also has more seat capacity – these are two features that are commercially profitable for the air carrier. That’s the reason why we have been negotiating with the Embraer over a lengthy period of time. Our negotiations had started even before the display flights of this particular plane began worldwide and we assume, reaching positive agreement shall be essential, expanding our fleet with five Shark E190-E2s. It will be more comfortable for the passengers; there will be more flight directions, new opportunities to travel to different countries with regular and charter flights. As you may know, nowadays Georgian Airways have more than 20 regular flight directions and each new plane means a new direction and a fresh discovery for the passenger“, - says Givi Davitashvili, general director and CEO of the air carrier.

Vice President Europe, Russia, Central Asia & Leasing, Embraer Commercial Aviation, Martyn Holmes notes that the presentation of Brazilian company Embraer’s newest plane has been successful and he hopes that cooperating with Georgian Airways results in Shark E190E2s flying from Georgia too. „It’s a great pleasure to be here today, because I represent a plane, which is noiseless and economical in terms of fuel usage. It’s the first time we showcase the plane in Georgia and we’re pleased to hold the presentation together with such an honorable and trustworthy company, Georgian Airways. I hope, with this collaboration, the plane will make flights from Georgia too“, - says Martyn Holmes.

Embraer’s plane took-off Tbilisi and landed in Batumi in approximately 20 min. The passengers were pleased during flight, they pointed out, that compared to other planes, Embraer’s newest plane is much more comfortable and faster.

Q COMPANY HISTORY The airline was founded under the name “Airzena“ in September 1993 as a Charter Airline operating by TU-154 to UAE, China, Egypt and other destinations, gradually developing into scheduled airline.

In 1999 Airzena became the flag carrier of the Georgian aviation. In the beginning of 2000 Airzena leased first two BOEING 737-500 aircrafts from “Hapag-Lloyd”, and became the first Georgian carrier to introduce Western aircraft in its fleet. Live animals can be transported in the passenger cabin (up to 6kg including the weight of kennel) and in the aircraft hold. Georgian Airways will accept only dogs and cats for transportation. Pregnant animals are not accepted for the transportation . Animals should be booked in advance. Trasportation of animals is not included in free baggage allowance.

Domestic animals of unusual size and wild animals must be transported as cargo. Container requirements: rigid plastic kennel, clean, leak-proof, adequately ventilated on three sides.

Passenger must provide all necessary documents. Georgian Airways declines all responsibility for any deterioration in animal’s health, which may occur before, during or after flight.
