PREVUE: MINT STUDENT DESIGN ANNUAL 2019
3
Foreword We take pride in being a non-traditional educational institution. Our approach is to provide a learning environment that allows students to exercise their talent, imagination and advocacies, leading them to produce tangible outputs with exceptional creative and commercial value. Once again, we showcase outstanding output from our Multimedia Arts, Music Business Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurial Management, and Theater Arts students. Their quality clearly proves that once more, MINT’s curricula from senior high school through college is effective in building a creative and critical mindset. Their skillsets are developed to produce outstanding works attested to by victories that they have won in interschool competitions in the past three years —over students from older, bigger and well-established institutions. In both 2017 and 2018, our achievements were properly acknowledged in our annual Prevue publications. This year, we proudly share with you our students’ milestones: Our Multimedia Arts Senior High and College students received eight out of the thirteen nominations in the Student Category of adobo Design Awards Asia 2019, which is the most revered design competition in the country. This is the third year in a row that MINT students have been nominated and the second time in three years that MINT received the most nominations out of any school. Of the eight nominees, three won: Nikki Albert (CollegeMMA) and Andy Dimagmaliw (SHS-MMA) got Bronze plaques for their works, “Pattern of Inclusivity” and “Alamat Book Series”, respectively. Gaby Salgado (CollegeMMA) bagged Silver for her work, “Engkanto” (Philippine Mythology Game).
Our MINT Senior High students, coming from Entrepreneurial Management and Music Business Management, were declared champions at the Start-Up Weekend Manila 2019, where they slugged it out with industry professionals. Their winning business pitch is an app called SWAGE that would help connect people with diet restrictions to restaurants and markets that could cater to their special food needs. Our MINT Junior Marketing Association bagged the main prize for De LaSalle University’s Marketing competition, DeMAND 2018. Their winning campaign pitch for the Philippine couture brand, BAYO, was for the brand to work with local craft stores that would provide raw materials which they’ll use for their products. Our Fashion program is finally in full swing this school year. Our mentors include esteemed fashion designers, makeup artists, photographers, runway show producers, and fashion journalists. Our Multimedia Arts students also got tapped to design and paint two huge murals inside the Venice Grand Canal Mall here at McKinley Hill, by Megaworld Lifestyle Malls: • Life After Coffee”, located beside Fully Booked • Food Is The Ingredient That Binds Us Together,” located by the entrance of the mall’s foodcourt. This year’s Prevue: MINT Student Design Manual 2019 is tangible proof of our commitment to develop, nurture, and promote creativity and innovation in all forms. It is our pleasure to share with you the product of our efforts.
