HUNTING

MOVEMENT AND POSITIONING SIMILAR TO CYCLING

NORFOLK JACKET In 1860 the Norfolk jacket was introduced as a shooting jacket. It later became modified and known for being especially suited for bicycling, business, fishing and pleasuring.

SHOULDER PLEAT allows for the person to stretch forward without restriction

PLEAT IN SHOULDER - INCREASED MOVEMENT - REDUCES PULL IN SLEEVE

CUSTOMER PROFILE London youth, who use cycling as an everyday mode of transport. Often wearing

puffa jackets And large jackets. These garments are inappropriate to wear when

cycling. They restrict movement and cause the wearer to overheat. However, London youth will still choose to wear these types of garments, to look fashionable and fit in with their peers. The direction of my projects proposes is to give the youth alternative garments which stick to their preference of puffa jackets but offer fit for purpose and will be appropriate for cycling.

CONSUMER

This is BIKESTORMZ: a free ride-out drawing nearly 3,000 cyclists in their teens and early twenties from across the country. The crew’s energy is wild, captivating passers–by, but it’s just a brief glimpse of the Bikelife movement that’s blowing up from South London estates to the Welsh

London projects itself as a prosperous, progressive city but beneath that facade it’s riven with inequality and

violence. Nearly 40 per cent of young people grow up in poverty here – the highest level in the country, a figure that

doubles if you’re not white. Knife crime has climbed to a four-year high and youth services have been slashed by local authority cuts, leaving few opportunities for kids without wealthy parents.

COMMUNITY PASSION EXPERIENCE INSPIRE

PURPOSE

RAPHA’S VISION IS TO MAKE ROAD CYCLING THE MOST POPULAR SPORT IN THE WORLD.TO MAKE THE VISION A REALITY RAPHA NEED TO TARGET A YOUNGER DEMOGRAPHIC OF CYCLISTS TO RETAIN THEIR INTRESTS IN THE SPORT.

My garments will be made for the purpose of lifestyle, everyday wear that is MULTI-FUCTIONAL. Through the use of ZIPS the garments will transform to become appropriate to cycle in. I will design to appeal to youth (Bikestormz) while respecting Raphas values, style and identity.

GARMENT ANALYSIS Large jackets / Insulated jackets Puffer coats / gilets Loose fitting, multiple layers Hoodies worn with hood up Side bags = need for pockets Caps, woolen hats Tracksuits
