Prior to that, the branch clinic in New Aruna Nagar Colony (Majnu-katila), Delhi visited Meerut once a month on medical tour. Gradually, the number of people who came for treatment increased, hence Mr. P.K. Bakshi, member of Tibet support group requested to open a clinic in Meerut City.

Over the years, the branch clinic faced difficulties in sustaining its staff due to the location of clinic, repeated transfer of staff, lack of patients and high cost of rent. The institute has been finding solutions for a few years to maintain and support its staff working there. Besides, the clinic had to be shifted from its previous location resulting in the inconveniences for the patients. Buying land was also expensive considering the situation of the place and the clinic. Hence, The Administration and the Personal Management and Selection Committee, after reviewing the case decided to discontinue the branch clinic in Meerut with effect from 31 Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mr. Mukul Sangma, December, 2010. Appeal

December 2010

APPEAL Donations are welcome for the following projects of Men-Tsee-Khang 1. Establishment of a New branch Clinic of Men-Tsee-Khang at Bodh Gaya Bodh Gaya is one of the greatest Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India. Buddhist followers from different parts of the world frequently pay visit to the holy site of Bodh Gaya. The site was known as Vajrasana in Sanskrit term. It is the holiest of all the Buddhist sites in the world as this is the place where the lord Buddha Shakyamuni attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Followers around the world visit solely on pilgrimage every year and followers from different countries built temples of their own styles in and around the holy site. The great Monlam festivals and teachings of the different sects of Mahayana school of Tibetan Buddhism follow continuously one after another which holds mass gathering of the Buddhist followers from all over the world and add more attraction of tourists to the site. For the past 20 years, during the winter season Men-Tsee-Khang has been sending a team of physician & staff to provide traditional Tibetan system of health care. Since 1998, Dalhousie branch clinic has been visiting Bodh Gaya from November to February every year for medical camps. Besides, MenTsee-Khang also holds medical camps in the name of the Charitable Trust of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the nearby place of Kushinagar. The facilities attached for medical camps are provided by the temporary branch clinic of Men-Tsee-Khang located at Namgyal Monastery Bodh Gaya, Bihar. To fulfill the request of local patients and tourist who are continuing with the medication, Men-Tsee-Khang wants to set up a full fledged branch clinic at Bodh-Gaya in the future. Approximate Budget for the clinic in Bodh Gaya is : Rs. 15,75,000.00 (Rs. fifteen lakhs and seventy five thousand only) Facility in the Clinic - Five rooms Two consutation rooms, dispensary, store, cashier 2. Establishment of Branch Clinic and Mild Therapy Center of Men-Tsee-Khang at Bylakupee Tibetan Settlement The branch clinic of Men-Tsee-Khang at Bylakupee Tibetan settlement was established on 19th Dec 1977 and the construction of the project was fully completed on 26th-Feb-1986. As per the goal and mission of Men-Tsee-Khang, it had benefitted and improved the health care system of the general public at the locality. The positive impact of the Tibetan medication and the rampant increase in the number of patients had widened our scopes for further use of our other traditional techniques of mild therapies and physic-therapies. As in the mission and goal of our institute, its time for more expansion and to provide more medical facilities to all the people irrespective of color, caste and creed. The application of the mild therapy means of treatment had extensively benefitted on a large scale in the past and it will continue to benefit in the future also if we are able to set up a separate traditional mild & physic therapy centre. In this manner it will help us in the promotion and the preservation of the traditional Tibetan physiotherapy methods of treatment in the needs of the patients and to provide a working platform for the Tibetan doctors. Approximate Budget for clinic and Mild Therapy Center: Rs. 66,666,000.00 (Rs. six crores, sixty six lakhs, sixty six thousand only) Men-Tsee-Khang

The present Quality Assurance Laboratory was mainly established with the goal to control the quality of Tibetan medicine and healthcare products produced from this institute. It has microbiology unit to carry out the microbiological testing of crude drugs prior passing it in the production unit and after production, finished products are tested for microbial load, and step wise vigilance of process for the microbial contaminant as per the protocol of World Health Organization (WHO) limit, chemical lab to perform the phyto-chemical testing of crude drugs and other chemical testing of skin care products. Instrumentation unit with one instrument called UV Spectometer. The current facility in the laboratory is inadequate for further scientific research of Tibetan medicine. Thus, to engage in further scientific research of Tibetan medicine, some more advanced instruments are prerequisite. Besides, routine quality control testing, various research work on the Tibetan medicine and its medicinal herbs are carried out with whatever facilities available in hand, but still due to lack of infrastructure especially availability of sophisticated instruments like High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer etc the research on the Tibetan medicine is very limited. Thus we are planning to purchase (HPTLC) for Quality Assurance Laboratory to make sure that research on Tibetan medicine more efficient and effective.
