The guests of honour were Mrs. Mamata Majumdar, Councillor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Mrs. Santasree Chaudhuri, award winning Social Entrepreneur, women’s rights activist Poet and Writer, and friend of Men-Tsee-Khang. The team conducted two lectures, 316 health consultations and 33 oral-astro consultations. 103RD ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS Dharamsala Men-Tsee-Khang (Sowa-Rigpa) celebrated its 103rd Anniversary on 29 March 2019, graced by the Health Kalon Mr. Choekyong Wangchuk, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) as the Chief Guest along with Special Guest, Dr. Gurdarshan Gupta, Chief Medical Officer of Kangra, H.P. Other guests included officials from various CTA departments, Head of various Tibetan NGOs, the Media, Men-Tsee-Khang staff and students.

He further encouraged graduating doctors and Astro-Science Practitioners to learn the western medical approach and different astrological practices to deepen their knowledge. Dr. Gurdarshan Gupta stated that the holistic approach to health is now gaining popularity in the global community. The government of India established a separate Ministry of AYUSH for traditional systems to enhance and encourage these systems to grow. Education Programme. He announced the incorporation of Late Dr. Tenzin Jangchup clinic in Warsaw, Poland under Men-Tsee-Khang, and a new degree course of Men-Pa Duera-Wa degree for non-Tibetans. He thanked the Government of India, AYUSH Ministry and the Government of Karnataka for its financial contribution to assist in the establishment of a new Men-Tsee-Khang College in Bengaluru.

At the event, the Chief Guest launched 13 new books of Men-Tsee-Khang and felicitated the staff who have dedicated 20 and 30 years of services in the institute. Dr. Gurdarshan Gupta awarded certificates to the graduate and post graduate doctors and Astro-Science Practitioners.

MEDICAL CAMP/AWARENESS PROGRAMME Dharamsala A 2-day medical camp was organized at the courtyard of Tsuglagkhang, Dharamsala on 28 February and 1 March 2019. The medical camp was carried out under the supervision of the Special Task Department of Men-TseeKhang. A team of three doctors, a Tibetan Astro-Science Practitioner (TASP) and six administrative staff rendered 164 health consultations, 24 Kam-Khab (acupuncture), and 14 oral-astro consultations. Books by and about H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama and herbal products were displayed to the audience. Charity medicines amounting to Rs. 12,335.78 were dispensed to the poor and needy. Ladakh Dr. Thinlay Namgyal was invited to TCV School Ladakh to give a health talk on the effects of substance abuse and addictions on 4 April 2019. Dr. Thinlay Namgyal gave a detailed presentation, introducing the types of substances such as cigarettes, cannabis, syringes, alcohol, drugs and tobaccos which affect people’s social life, and the economy. He then moved on to describe the drawbacks of consuming these substances and suggested ways of how to overcome addictions. There were around 300 students, teachers, Director and Assistant Headmaster of TCV. The awareness programme was telecast on the cable networks in the afternoon. INAUGURATION OF NEW CLINIC IN JAIGAON Men-Tsee-Khang (Sowa-Rigpa) inaugurated a new branch clinic in Jaigaon on 1 April 2019, opposite Believer’s Church, Raigaon, Manglabari Haat. The opening ceremony was held at the Choelsum Buddhist Community Hall. Shri. Bishnu Lama, (Pradhan of Gram Panchayat I)

Tsewang Paljor, Representative of Choelsum Buddhist Community and media persons from Janta TV, Voice TV, and Hamro Prajashakti TV, were invited to the ceremony. Sorig products were displayed and Men-Tsee-Khang brochures were distributed to the audience. Men-Tsee-Khang would like to thank Choelsum Buddhist Committee for providing the venue for the function.

HEALTHY BODY HEALTHY MIND: CELEBRATING 103 YEARS OF MEN-TSEE-KHANG’S PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES Our Centenary outreach tours to USA East Coast/ Canada, Europe, USA West Coast and South America conducted between April 2018 to March 2019 had been a great success due to the efforts of various support groups. Above all, the encouragements we received and the experiences we gained, contributed to our initiating more world tours. Our subsequent tours to various places had also been a great success. We plan to conduct more outreach tours (health consultations, oral-astro consultations, lectures/ workshops on Tibetan Medicine & Tibetan AstroScience, exhibition, sale of health products) every year.


FRIENDS OF MEN-TSEE-KHANG (FOM) Paying an Annual Membership of Rupees 1,000.00, Well Wishers and Patients can sign up for FRIENDS OF MEN-TSEE-KHANG (FOM). Presently, there are 57 members in Delhi and 37 members in Mumbai. Broadly, there will be three areas of collaborations between Men-Tsee-Khang and the concerned FOM, namely, Events jointly promoted by Men-Tsee-Khang and the concerned FOM; Events primarily promoted by Men-Tsee-Khang and the concerned FOM giving support, and Events primarily promoted by the concerned FOM and Men-Tsee-Khang giving support in terms of human resources. Presently, one Bank Account is maintained. The membership Account is maintained by city and the concerned FOM may use the funds received from its members. MEN-PA DUERA-WA DEGREE COURSE FOR NON-TIBETANS Men-Tsee-Khang is happy to announce the Men-Pa Duera-Wa Degree Course for 2021 in Dharamsala, India. A 5-year degree will be given to the interested candidates from Himalayan Indian States (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh) Nepal, Bhutan, Russia, Mongolia, Kalmykia, Buriyat and Tuva.
