Post Malone Performs at Toyota Center March 9 with Special Guests, Swae Lee and Tyla Yaweh GRAMMY® Award-nominated diamond-certified Dallas, TX artist Post Malone extends the Runaway Tour, launching the second leg in 2020. “Sunflower” collaborators Post Malone and Swae Lee have announced 2020 tour dates together. They’ll be joined by Tyla Yaweh for the second leg of the “Runaway Tour.” Post Malone doesn’t stop making history. His latest album, Hollywood’s Bleeding [Republic Records], recently returned to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 for the fifth non-consecutive week, marking the longest run atop the chart this year. It stands out as the biggest album event of 2019 and will continue his reign into 2020. A diamond-certified GRAMMY® Award-nominated phenomenon, Dallas, TX artist Post Malone regularly rewrites history, blurs boundaries, and incites internet-breaking conversation with every move. Emerging in 2015 with a genre-less brew that inspired a movement, he delivered the diamond-selling “Congratulations” [feat. Quavo], achieved back-to-back #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, received countless multiplatinum certifications around the world, and smashed one record after another with his Hot 100-topping hits. His 2019 third full-length, Hollywood’s Bleeding [Republic Records], represented an audience and critical high watermark. Not only did it arrive at platinum status and earn high praise from the likes of Pitchfork, but it also
reigned at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 for four weeks and returned to the chart for a fifth week, making for the longest run atop the chart of 2019 and the first release to do so in over a year. It followed the immense success of the triple-platinum beerbongs & Bentleys, which also landed at #1 a year
prior. In the wake of beerbongs & Bentleys, Post crushed a record in place for 54 years. He charted nine songs in the Top 20 of the Hot 100, notching “the most songs in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 ever.” Moreover, he also trounced the record for most simultaneous Top 40 Hot 100 hits with 14. As of 2019, his catalog comprises the GRAMMY® Award-nominated “rockstar” [feat. 21 Savage” (8x-platinum), “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse)” [feat. Swae Lee] (8x-platinum), “I Fall Apart” (5xplatinum), “Psycho” [feat. Ty Dolla $ign] (5x-platinum), “White Iverson” (5x-platinum), “Better Now” (4x-platinum), and more. Not to mention, he sold out numerous arena tours and launched his own megapopular Posty Fest in its second successful year in 2019. It all started with his tripleplatinum influential 2016 debut, Stoney. With records under his belt that will likely never be surpassed and a generation of artists and audiences worldwide under his spell, Post Malone simply doesn’t stop.

Swae Lee has made a name for himself outside of Southern hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd, and is a force to be reckoned with both within and beyond the hip hop world. Tracks such as French Montana’s “Unforgettable” show off his singing chops and his impressive list of writing credits includes the hook to Beyoncé’s “Formation.” For Rae Sremmurd’s upcoming project, Swae and Jxmmi will present a 3 part album consisting of a duo side of the album and parts with each of the brothers exclusively and allowing for more Swae melodies to take shape. The first Swae track re-
leased off the album, “Hurt to Look”, continues the energetic production that Swae is known for, but shows off a tender, moodier side to Swae’s singing. The much more serious, emotional ballad has that characteristic Swae hook, but implements a more groovy and comparably chilled backdrop. It’s a song to “make you feel some kind of way,” as Swae describes it while explaining that each track is a whole feeling, often mellow and “easy on the ears.” Above all, however, Swae insists that the music is meant to be “feel good” and both embodies and advocates for a positive life outlook. Swae’s goals for his music as universal and far-reaching—with projected listeners ranging from doctors to lawyers to kids and “whatever lifestyle you live,” as Swae puts it—but entirely unique to what is popular and being produced today are not far off. The album proposes to position Swae as a heavy weight, unpredictable musician producing serious music that still has the enjoyable, turn up element that Rae Sremmurd is known for. And that is exactly what Swae’s music fulfills: a serendipitous unpredictability that is only predictable in the sense that Swae, with all his Geminicrooning selves, always delivers.
Tyla Yaweh A new kind of Rockstar, Tyla Yaweh defies everything, even genre. He seamlessly merges R&B, hip-hop, and pop without apology. As a result, he has quietly become a phenomenon. Beyond racking up over 100 million-plus cumulative streams globally and landing on the cover of coveted Spotify playlists like Signed XOXO, the Orlando-born and Los Angeles-based 24 year old disruptor has performed alongside everyone from Post Malone to Jaden Smith and Saint JHN and collaborated with the likes of French Montana, Ski Mask The Slump God, Juice WRLD, and more. Not to mention, he received acclaim from Complex, Hypebeast, Billboard, Pigeons and Planes, Wonderland, HotNewHipHop, and more. He continues to make a name for himself on the road, having recently given rousing performances at the likes of Governor’s Ball, Firefly, Bonnaroo and more, with Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, Life is Beautiful and more set for later this summer. Breaking rules and boundaries all at once, he’s primed to explode in 2019 with the aptly titled project, Heart Full Of Rage.

The Lords Of Acid Perform At The Scout Bar Sextreme Disco band Lords of Acid has announced that they will be returning stateside with their “Make Acid Great Again Tour.” Aesthetic Perfection, Praga Khan, and MXMS will join the legendary act. They will be performing in Houston at the Scout Bar on March 21st. From his first single, “I Sit On Acid”; released in 1988, to the present, Belgium’s Praga Khan remains one of the most innovative acid house musicians in circulation. Thanks to extensive experimentation with drugs, Crowley-ian sex magic, and esoteric paths of self-deprivation and mutilation known only to himself, this orgiastic orchestrator created the LORDS OF ACID to further encapsulate the seductive messages and raw sex of his ever-evolving musical vision. From the raw carnality of their 1991 release Lust to the electro-thrash of 2012’s Deep Chills, Lords of Acid has re-defined the pure pleasures of drugs, hedonism, and deviant sex for thirty years. Now, despite numerous lineup changes, world tours, over 2.5 million album sales, and every possible point of crisis and conflict a band can face, Lords of Acid is returning to the unsuspecting again, this time with a new crew of deviants, dilettantes, and sonically transmitted diseases. Belgian techno outfit Lords of Acid first gained notoriety in the ’90s with the sexually explicit acid house dance music of Lust and Our Little Secret, which established a dedicated cult following that extended into the 2000s, even as lineups shifted and their sound incorporated more mainstream pop and electronic elements. Their throbbing 1991 debut album, Lust, spawned a pair of club hits, “Rough Sex” and “I Must Increase My Bust,” and featured Lords of Acid’s trademark malefemale vocal interplay between Praga Khan and Jade 4 U. Between their debut and their second album, 1994’s Voodoo-U, Lords of Acid added industrial elements to their sound and became a more straightforward, band-oriented group. Over the years, multiple lineup changes would add dozens of players to the Lords of Acid roster, with founder Praga Khan at the center. Their third effort, 1997’s Our Little Secret, spawned the singles “Rubber Doll” and “Pussy” and became the band’s first entry on the Billboard 200. The B-side compilation Heaven Is an Orgasm followed in 1998. The next year, they issued Expand Your Head, another compilation that bundled remixes with a trio of new tracks. Fourth set Farstucker followed in early 2001. The release cemented the group as an industrial outfit on abrasive songs that were fronted by new vocalist Deborah Ostrega. That year, Lords of Acid also issued a series of “stript” re-releases that cut the vocals from the original albums, as well as two additional hits collections. A third, 2005’s Greatest T*ts, offered a couple songs previously unreleased in the U.S. The group went on hiatus and would not return until 2011 when the Little Mighty Rabbit EP arrived, their first set of
new material in a decade. The EP’s title track would be featured on the album Deep Chills, which followed in 2012. Their fifth album, Deep Chills featured an entirely revamped lineup and guest vocalists like adult actress Alana Evans and television personality Zak Bagans. Following 2016’s Smoking Hot, Khan and the group began a crowdfunding campaign for their sixth full-length, 2018’s Pretty in Kink.

Contack Mel at 832-567-6349 Jay Hooks Performs at Katie’s Bar in Bacliff We try to catch Jay Hooks performances whenever we get a chance. Jay has been performing around this area for years. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Jay, he’s one of the hottest Texas Blues guitarists around. He’s got several albums to his credit and he used to perform in Lavelle White’s band before striking out on his own many years ago. His performances are electrifying, and he’s always trying out new material, which makes every show different and definitely well worth the trip. His show tonight at Katie’s Bar was exactly as we expected, fantastic. We definitely had a great time, and you would have too if you had been there. Accomanying Jay was Katie’s Bar’s owner Bob Emmons on bass and drummer extraordinaire, Joe Campise. You need to put Jay on your list as someone to see, he’s always a lot of fun.

Kaaoke Contest Night at Loaded Barrels
Well, this was a new act for us to check out. It was The Lone Bellow from Brooklyn, New York. The band was on tour is support of their most recent album, Half Moon Light. The band put on a really good show and there certainly was a packed house with standing room only availability for watching them. Performing over 20 songs, the band certainly made the show well worth attending. The folks there loved the performance and really couldn’t get enough of the band, bringing the band for two encores. The Lone Bellow’s songs are definitely heartfelt songs with great melodies and inspirational lyrics. I’d reccomend them to anyone. Good show... Yeah, I’d go see them again. The show was a lot of fun.

Yeah, we saw a lot of Tribute bands lately, as they are all the rage now. This night at The Last Concert Cafe it was The Damn Torpedoes from Austin as they did a tribute to the late Tom Petty. As expected, the band put on a wonderful job and the show was for the most part, flawless. They performed all of Tom’s big hits, as well as some of the most obscure tunes that he recorded and the crowd there just loved them. It was a fine show and one not to be missed.

Kris Angelis and Jypsy Rose Perform at Leon’s Lounge Here’s a couple of the fine acts we saw this month at Leon’s Lounge. Pictured at the left is Kris Angelis. Her sultry voice and beautiful songs left us speechless. She was just the best. If you read last month’s issue of Music News, then you probably saw the story on her that we ran. She was really incredible... great songs, great melodies... and a great voice as well. Who could ask for more. On the right is Jypsy Rose and her band. She put on an equally fine performance the night we saw her. I was really pleasantly surprised with her varied repertoire, which she and the band performed wonderfully. From Sonny and Cher’s “Bang Bang’ to The Troggs “Wild Thing” to Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’,” she really performed some songs we don’t hear very often now. She even performed a rousing versio nof Poison’s “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.” Wow! Yeah folks, you should’ve been there. Leon’s is bringing in some really great entertainment. Check out their ad in this issue and make sure you get out to some of these shows. You just wouldn’t believe who all they have coming in. It’s really wonderful to have this fine club in Midtown bringing in all these great acts. Thanks Leon’s for all the great shows! Rickenbacker to acoustic guitars like Taylor, Martin and Waterloo! Fuller’s also carries amps, pro audio equipment, and effects, pedals and parts. Now, come to the next, Taylor “Find Your Fit” event Sat. March 7th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Come meet a Taylor factory expert, J.R. Robison, for a personal guitar consultation. You can test drive new Taylor models, ask questions, and even win some Taylor gear (while supplies last.) The Legendary Shack Shakers Perform at White Oak Music Hall
The Legendary Shack Shakers will be returning to Houston for a power-packed performance at White Oak Music Hall on April 2nd. The band’s most recent album is 2017s “After You’ve Gone.” Nearly twenty-five years into their worldwide crusade, Legendary Shack Shakers have become the leaders in the underground music scene’s “Southern Gothic” sound. Led by their charismatic front man, Col. JD Wilkes, the band continues to wow crowds with their explosive interpretations of swamp blues, rock n’ roll and hillbilly music, making fans, critics, and now, an entire new generation into true believers. Between intermittent hiatuses to work on other projects (including JD’s sideshow bannerstyle artwork for acts like The Squirrel Nut Zippers and Marty Stuart...plus his two published books The Vine That Ate the South and Barn Dances & Jamborees Across Kentucky), the band is constantly re-inventing and re-mobilizing, much to the excitement of many a Shack Shakers fanatic. Despite Wilkes’ extracurricular projects, the Shakers’ reputation for intense entertainment endures. On stage, JD has been compared to the likes of Iggy Pop, David Byrne, and Jerry Lee Lewis. The Nashville Scene named Wilkes “the best frontman in Nashville”, while former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra has called JD “the last great Rock and Roll frontman.” Guitar virtuoso, Gary Siperko (Pere Ubu, Rocket from the Tombs, Drivin’ and Cryin’) intones a variety of styles, from delta blues to gypsy jazz, while the rhythm section rounds out with drummer Preston Corn (The Dirt Daubers) and Fuller Condon (Two Man Gentlemen Band) thumping the upright bass. With nine critically acclaimed studio albums (and songs that have been featured on television shows such as HBO’s True Blood, CBS’s
The Unit , Swamp Loggers, and movies like Julia Roberts’ Duplicity), the band shows no sign of stopping. Past tour mates and fans include Sturgill Simpson, Reverend Horton Heat, Rancid, The Black Keys, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, and Hank Williams III. Robert Plant is also a noted Legendary Shack Shakers fan, and picked the band to open for him on his “Strange Sensation” tour of Europe. Plant named the band’s third album Believe as one of his favorite records, and the list of esteemed admirers goes on to include horror novelist Stephen King. King listed “CB Song” as among his iPod’s Top Five in an Entertainment Weekly article. Such a wealth of devoted, cult-like fans has only added to the mystique that the Legendary Shack Shakers possess, carrying them down the road toward new creative pursuits and intense new music and ideas. A roots rock juggernaut from Nashville, Tennessee, the Legendary Shack Shakers are a hot-rodded combo combining blues, rockabilly, country, and rock & roll into one manic assemblage boasting all the gloriously explosive instability of an M-80. Originally comprised of Colonel J.D. Wilkes on lead vocals and harmonica, Joe Buck on guitar, Mark “The Duke” Robertson on upright bass, and Pauly Simmonz behind the drums, the Legendary Shack Shakers were all members of various renegade country acts playing in Nashville’s notorious “Lower Broadway” district, and Buck and Wilkes spent time playing on the road as part of Hank Williams III’s band. Assuming the Shack Shakers moniker in 2001, the band quickly developed a potent reputation for its raucous live show, in which the manic tempo of the music was matched by Wilkes’ over the top stage performance, which earned him a citation as Nashville’s Best Frontman in the Music City entertainment maga-
zine Scene. After extensive touring with Hank Williams III and Southern Culture on the Skids, the Legendary Shack Shakers self-released their first CD, Cockadoodledon’t, in early 2003; shortly afterward, the band signed with Chicagobased “insurgent country” label Bloodshot Records, which reissued Cockadoodledon’t in the spring of that same year. In 2003, Buck left the Shack Shakers to play with Hank III full-time, and the heavily tattooed David Lee took over on guitar; the new lineup of the band moved from Bloodshot to Yep Roc Records for the release of the (somewhat) more polished sophomore album, 2004’s Believe. In 2005, Simmonz left the band and was replaced by Brett Whitacre. Their third record, Pandelerium, arrived in January 2006. The live Lower Broad Lo-Fi was released in 2007, followed later that same year by Swampblood. Agridustrial appeared in 2010, which featured guitarist Duane Denison, formerly of the Jesus Liz-
ard and Hank III’s road band. After a five-year layoff, the Legendary Shack Shakers returned in 2015 with a lineup featuring Wilkes on vocals, blues harp, and banjo, Robertson on bass, Rod Hamdallah on guitar, and Brett Whitacre on drums. The band signed a deal with Alternative Tentacles Records, which released the album The Southern Surreal in time for the Shack Shakers’ 20th anniversary. In 2017, the Shack Shakers released the album After You’ve Gone, a song cycle inspired by Wilkes’ divorce. The disc also introduced a new edition of the band, with Wilkes and Hamdallah joined by a new rhythm section, bassist Fuller Condon and drummer Preston Corn. When not busy with his musical career, Wilkes is also known as a visual artist, publishing comic books and creating elaborate “carnival art” murals on discarded roll-up projection screens. In 2017, he published his first novel, The Vine That Ate the South.

By Jay Lambs Remy This month Icons At Badassery would like to honor Lisa Lemon Born on November 18 in Buffalo New York. She took an interest in music at an early age, her mom gave Lisa her first 45 record player. She played that Queen record over and over. She started writing poetry when she was 14. Lisa played the flute in band and also loved being in drama, where she played in Romeo and Juliet and The Scarlet Letter. She went to her first concert at age 12 to see KISS and fell in love with Live Music instantly. She taught herself to play keyboards and a few years ago she started learning to play bass. Lisa has been in love with music her whole life, She started writing Album Reviews for Houston Rock TV and doing band Interviews for Mighty Fish Entertainment & Divine Right Live. About the same time, she started doing band interviews for Soundchecked Podcast aka Metal Moose Radio who introduced her to several public relations companies, who started sending her emails to interview bands and cover shows (interview the band before they play and capturing their performance on stage with camera and photography). This led her to write band interviews for Death by Metal and I Am The Industry. Lisa started her own podcast, the Mistress of Metal Hour with Metalisa. About a year ago she began working for the Outlaw Dave Show and started booking bands for House of Blues, which led her to book bands at Wildcatter saloon and judging the Battle of the Bands there. Most Recently, Lisa started working with Paul Shadle of Divine Right Live, promoting shows such as Powerman 5000.
Famous Musicians she has met: Dave Ellefsen, Lita Ford, Y&T, Queensryche, Goeff Tate, The Dead Daisies, Metal Church, Hookers and Blow, Steve Harris, Ace Frehley, Doug Aldrich, Zakk Wylde, Hinder, Rob De Luca, Enuff Z’ Nuff, Audiotopsy, Anvil, Otep, Saliva, Chicago, Scott Stapp, Jackyl, Vinnie Moore, Fates Warning, Joe Lynn Turner, Stephen Pearcy, Michael Sweet, Jack Russell, Jizzy Pearl, Frankie Banali, Chuck Wright, Tony Macalpine, Jay Lambs Remy, Skid Row, Trixter, BadLands House Band,Lynch Mob, Sepultura, Sebastian Bach. Powerman 5000 Perform at BFE Rock Club March 20 Powerman 5000 is a Boston-based industrial metal/nu metal band formed in 1989. Frontman Spider One (Michael Cummings) is the younger brother of Rob Zombie (Robert Cummings). Working under the title “MC Spider”, he recorded “Much Evil” with producer Lamar Lowder. Building on local success, he built a band under the name Powerman 5000. Their style was in the nature of rap/metal that had yet to gain popularity. In 1991, longtime guitarist Adam 12 (Adam Williams) joined the band. Helmed by vocalist Spider (aka Michael Cummings, also known as Spider One or MC Spider, the younger brother of Rob Zombie), the Boston-based underground electro-metal band Powerman 5000 earned a popular cult following along the East Coast with the release of their 1994 indie debut EP, True Force, and 1995’s LP The

Blood Splat Rating System, the latter of which appeared on Conscience Records. Two years later, the band moved to Dreamworks (and relocated to Los Angeles), where they released a revamped version of their debut as Mega!! Kung Fu Radio. Touring with the likes of Marilyn Manson and Korn, as well as a stint on Ozzfest, expanded their fan base and led up to Powerman 5000’s 1997 science fiction-esque follow-up Tonight the Stars Revolt! During shows and promos for the album, the band was often found sporting spacesuits and other sci-fi paraphernalia. The record went platinum, helped in part by the success of singles “When Worlds Collide” and “Nobody’s Real” on MTV. The halted release of a since-aborted album entitled Anyone for Doomsday? signaled the departure of longtime bassist Dorian Heartsong (aka Dorian 27) and drummer Al Pahanish (aka Al 3) in early November of 2001. A year later, drummer Adrian Ost (aka Ad7) was added to the group; bassist Siggy Sjursen joined 40 auditions later before 2002 came to a close. Powerman 5000, including Spider and longtime guitarists Adam Williams (aka Adam 12) and Mike Tempesta (aka M.33), was then back in full effect. Transform, their fourth album, marked the band’s new more punk-inspired, less industrial sound and new lineup when it was released in spring 2003. It debuted at number 25 on the Billboard charts and produced a hit in the song “Free,” though Dreamworks dissolved in the middle of the album’s promotion. A rarities collection appeared in 2004 on Spider’s own Megatronic label; more lineup changes would occur before the eventual release of the band’s fifth full-length. Williams and Tempesta exited to be replaced on guitar by Johnny Heatley and ex-Alien Ant Farm’s Terry Corso. Powerman 5000 inked a deal with DRT Entertainment in spring 2006, and Destroy What You Enjoy surfaced that August, with subsequent touring. After returning with an all-new lineup featuring Spider One, guitarists Dave Piro (Velkro) and Evan Rodaniche (Evan 9), bassist Gustavo Aued (X51), and drummer Gordon Heckaman (GFlash), the band went back to their industrial metal ways, releasing their sixth album, Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere, in 2009. A covers album, Copies, Clones & Replicants, arrived in 2011, and was followed by another lineup change, with Piro, Rodaniche, and Heckaman, leaving the band. Stepping in to fill the vacancies would be guitarists Richard Jazmin (Zer0) and Nick Quijano (Sci55ors), and drummer DJ Rattan (Rattan), who would all appear on the band’s seventh studio album, Builders of the Future, in 2014. In September 2017, the band released “Sid Vicious in a Dress,” the first single from New Wave, which arrived later that October. Spider One often uses spoken word or chanting in his vocalization. AllMusic’s Chris Slawecki said that “Spider doesn’t sing one single lyric, instead barking out the lyrics in a hard staccato delivery.” The band’s lyrics are often campy and make reference to pulp science fiction. These themes include gods and monsters, global annihilation and robot violence, as well as anti-consumerism. Powerman 5000’s music is driven by staccato guitar playing and electronic samples. This style has been compared to the music of Rob Zombie, Spider One’s older brother. This style has primarily been described as industrial metal. The band’s early album Mega!! Kung Fu Radio featured a different style from the one which the band is generally known for; this album incorporated elements of heavy metal, hard rock and funk. Transform featured more emphasis on melody and humandriven sounds, shifting away from the computerized sounds of the band’s earlier albums. Destroy What You Enjoy featured a punk-driven sound.

The Hollywood Spotlight By Hollywood Steve Rangel
“Day After Yesterday” Deaton Lemay Project Attention all fans of world class progressive rock: your next obsession is here, and it’s called Deaton Lemay Project. DLP is a match made in musical heaven, a pairing of brilliant instrumentalists and songwriters Roby Deaton (keyboards, bass, acoustic and Portuguese guitars) and Craig Lemay (drums and percussion). This dynamic duo fearlessly step onto a path forged by titans such as Rush, Queensryche, and Dream Theater, while establishing a distinct sound and style of their own. Make no mistake about it, progressive rock is the high rent district of rock and roll, and DLP settle into the neighborhood quite nicely. The new CD is entitled “Day After Yesterday”. It’s an impressive collection of twelve original songs, combining instrumentals along with tracks featuring the outstanding lead vocals of Hadi Kiani. DLP also utilize the services of multiple guest guitar players (Josh Mark Raj, Ehsan Imani, and Joel Gregoire). It’s a risky approach in most cases, as it can result in a lack of both cohesiveness and sense of continuity. But the gamble pays off here, as these artists are perfectly in sync from the word “go”. There’s a lot going on musically, to be sure. But rather than sounding cluttered or frenzied, the finished product is beautifully layered. The lush production and sophisticated arrangements combine with the individual performances to make this effort exceptional in every way. In addition to the obvious progressive rock influences, DLP sports just enough of a 70’s arena rock feel (think Kansas or Styx) to make this product appealing to a broader audience. If your musical tastes tend to run to the adventurous side, you may find Deaton Lemay Project’s “Day After Yesterday” to be one of the most enjoyable listens of 2020. Deatonlemayproject.com
The Lovelace Brothers “First Album” In an era of over-produced studio efforts and albums that are created entirely on laptops, nothing is more refreshing than a good old fashioned rock and roll record. If you agree, not to worry. The Lovelace Brothers have got you covered. This new seven song release is entitled “First Album”. (I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume that this is their debut CD). It is enjoyable first and foremost because it is REAL. No glossy “final mix” bells and whistles, just guitar, drums, bass, and a lot of attitude. The scorching opener “Leaving” is drenched in Hendrix. The Brothers next deliver a juiced up and inspired version of Earl King’s “Come On”, followed by the frantic, 70’s infused “Running”. Showing their versatility, the band served up a gorgeous, guitar-driven smooth jazz number in the key of A entitled...wait for it...”Jazz In A”. “Whisper” is one of the more intriguing choices here. It has the undeniable feel of classic Black Sabbath, complete with nasty riffs and some brilliant Bill Ward-style drum work. The Lovelace Brothers stay on the heavy, psychedelic side of the tracks for the final two selections, “Ear To The Ground” and “Bad Ass Train”, the latter of which features some equally bad ass bass lines. The album as a whole is intense, moody, and fascinating, leaving the listener satisfied but eager for more. Joining guitarist/vocalist Billy Lovelace Jr. and drummer/vocals Paul E. Lovelace are bassists Sean Lewis and Mike Lee. All deliver impassioned performances on a finished product that is as consistent as it is invigorating. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long for “Second Album”. Lovelacebrothers.com
