WHY BOBCAT CLUB? Competing at the top level of college athletics takes commitment and focus. The same is true in the classroom. To excel at both, it takes a full team effort. And you are a vital member of every Bobcat team. The Bobcat Club is the fundraising arm of Texas State Athletics and the link between our athletes and you, our most dedicated fans. It is how you can help provide scholarships for our incredible student-athletes and help them realize their dreams on and off the field. Covering the cost of attendance for each athlete takes a team effort. The opportunities we create with each scholarship are more valuable, more lasting, than any victory on

University Events Center

the field. For most of our scholar-athletes, a scholarship is a life-changing event they have worked for all their young lives. Thanks to loyal fans like you, we are seeing incredible energy and momentum in each of our sports. And Bobcat athletes take time to give back to the university and our local community. Whether in the weight room, a science lab or in charitable service, excellence is not just a goal at Texas State — it is our expectation, every day. When every member of our team — athletes, coaches, students, alumni, parents and fans — comes together, no goal is out of reach.

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS Dear Bobcats, 2019 has been and will continue to be a great year for the Bobcats! From the classroom to the arena our Bobcat student-athletes have continued to proudly display the comprehensive excellence that they came to Texas State University to embody. Much of this success, including the first ever Sun Belt Commissioners Cup, is thanks to you, the faithful Bobcat Club donor. As a collective, you have gone above and beyond in order to ensure that our student-athletes have every opportunity to compete at a high level both on the field and in the classroom. Your generosity and dedication has led to Sun Belt Conference Championships in volleyball, softball, soccer, baseball and track & field and produced 48 proud graduates this season alone. Each of these graduates will continue

to carry on the legacy of Texas State Athletics. We ask for your continued support of the Bobcat Club and Texas State Athletics so that we may continue to provide our studentathletes with the resources that they need to become successful representatives of this distinguished institution. We have made great strides as an athletic department and will continue to grow as we move forward. From the recently unveiled University Events Center to the continued progress being made towards student-athlete health and wellness resources, we strive to provide Bobcat student-athletes with the best possible facilities to ensure a successful experience at Texas State University. Please continue to do your part in supporting our incredible student-athletes by joining the Bobcat Club and supporting Texas State this season and beyond.

Dr. Larry Teis Director of Athletics

RECENT SUCCESS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH Excitement is at an all-time high in San Marcos for the upcoming football season as the Bobcats enter fall camp. New Head Football Coach Jake Spavital brings his renowned offensive pedigree to Bobcat Stadium this fall as the team will look to build on the momentum created by a solid defensive effort in 2018. Don’t miss your chance to support Texas State Football this fall!

BASEBALL Texas State Baseball had a great run in 2019, culminating in the first regular season championship since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2013. In addition to the conference championship, the Bobcats made a strong case for the best team in Texas with non-conference wins against Rice, Houston, Texas and Texas A&M this spring. With the retirement of longtime head coach Ty Harrington and promotion of Assistant Coach Steven Trout as new Head Coach, the Bobcats will look to keep the momentum rolling into a strong 2020 campaign.

VOLLEYBALL 2018 was arguably the best year in the history of the Texas State Women’s Volleyball program. Coach Chisum’s squad won both the regular season and Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championships on the way to their first NCAA Regional victory. Individual accolades were prevalent as well with four Bobcats receiving First Team All-Sun Belt honors including Freshman and Setter of the year Emily DeWalt and the sixth Coach of the Year Award for Head Coach Karen Chisum.

MEN'S BASKETBALL The Texas State Men’s Basketball Team and Head Coach Danny Kaspar were firing on all cylinders during the 2018-2019 season. The team recorded 24 wins, the most since the 1994 Southwest Texas team that lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Many milestones were accomplished during this exciting ride in 2019 as Bobcats set the home attendance record with 6,581 on February 2 in a clash with UT-Arlington, Nijal Pearson was named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference, and the team achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.91.

Bobcat student-athletes Tramesha Hardy and T’Mond Johnson were named as the Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year respectively, while Leslie Romero took home the Sun Belt Individual Cross Country Title. In addition to this great success in competition, the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams boasted 14 members of the Honor Roll (3.00 - 3.49 GPA) and 18 members of the Sun Belt Commissioner’s List (3.50 - 4.00 GPA).

COACH KAREN A. CHISUM

“ Our student-athletes are some of the luckiest in the world!

And what they give to us … and to Texas State and to you, as fans and boosters … is indescribable. The dedication and loyalty, and the hours and hard work that is put in by these student-athletes daily, is admirable. AND the Bobcat Club makes this possible for so many of them. To each of you, thank you! You really do not realize how important you are to every Bobcat coach and every Bobcat student-athlete. I personally cannot say thank you enough, or give you a big enough hug! We could not do this without your support! I am blessed to have been here at Texas State for soon to be 40 years, and each of you have been a big part of this blessing. You’re the best! I love Bobcat Nation! And as always, it’s a great day to be a Bobcat!
