about the bobcat club

The Bobcat Club is an organization of alumni, fans, former studentathletes, coaches and friends joined together to support the more than 400 Texas State University student-athletes by contributing to the annual scholarship fund. Our athletes are students first. Helping support a scholarship mission allows these student-athletes to receive a first-class education while representing the university on the playing field. Due to the rising cost of higher education, supporting student-athlete scholarships is more important than ever. Your support increases the overall strength of our athletic department and assists all 16 varsity sports programs. When you support the Bobcat Club, you are ensuring our student-athletes a chance to excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. By making a gift and supporting the Bobcat Club, you: • receive a tax-deductible donation credit • provide scholarship support to more than 400 student-athletes • e njoy exclusive benefits including parking and season ticket discounts • o ffer a one-of-a-kind academic and athletic experience for our student-athletes

the cost of excellence

Boosting financial support is absolutely critical as we move to Division I FBS in 2012. We need to close the gap in both the number of donors and the amount of money raised if we are to rise to the top of our new Division I FBS conference and regional rivals. Your support of the Bobcat Club can help us achieve greatness.

academics in mind

Since the opening of the $9 million baseball and softball complex in 2009, the Texas State baseball program has had 18 all-conference selections, seven conference specialty award winners, four academic all-district honorees, two academic all-Americans and 12 all-American award selections. The team has been the conference regular season champs each of the past three seasons, and has gone on to play in the NCAA Championships two of the last three years.

Scholarship Support — Student-Athletes in the Classroom According to the Texas State Athletic Academic Center 2009-2010 End-of-Year Report, our student-athletes are succeeding in the classroom. • The Texas State NCAA student-athlete graduation rate is 69 percent, compared to 54 percent for the general student population. • The average cumulative GPA for Texas State student-athletes is 2.82. • For two years in a row, Texas State women’s tennis has received the NCAA Division I Academic Performance program Public Recognition Award. • The Texas State softball team was recognized by the NCAA Division I Academic Performance program for their score of 994 to rank among the top 10 percent in their sport during the four-year period of 2006-07 through 2009-10. • In 2009-10, 25 student-athletes were named to Southland Conference All-Academic Teams, maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher.

“At Texas State we are extremely proud of our student-athletes for what they accomplish on the field, but most importantly, in the classroom. We have been fortunate to acquire many conference championship trophies recently, but it is the academic success of our student-athletes that is the most impressive stat of all.”

Director of Athletics, Dr. Larry Teis

Endowments

Gifts-In-Kind*

An endowment is a transfer of money or property donated to Texas State with the stipulation that it be invested and the principal remain intact in perpetuity, which allows the gift to have a much greater impact over a longer period of time. This provides an annual spendable income that becomes a permanent resource in future years for student-athletes.

A Gift-In-Kind (GIK) is viewed as a type of charitable giving in which goods and services are donated in lieu of cash. The Bobcat Club’s GIK program affords the contributor a donation level in the Bobcat Club for the value of GIK provided. *Subject to Bobcat Club approval

By creating an endowment, you are establishing an enduring legacy that will carry on for future generations. An endowment can be created with an initial investment of $25,000.

110% Program We ask our athletes to give 110 percent in the classroom and on the field. We ask donors to match our athletes’ effort by giving 110 percent of their previous annual gift when renewing their Bobcat Club donation.

BOBCAT CLUB YOUNG ALUMNI Stay involved with Texas State after graduation by participating in the Bobcat Club Young Alumni program. Donors who give an annual gift of at least $100 and graduated within the last five years from Texas State are considered Bobcat Club Young Alumni. Young Alumni enjoy standard Bobcat Club benefits in addition to receiving invitations for special Young Alumni events. Past events include a football tailgate at one Texas State home game, a basketball pregame reception, and an in-game reception tent event during a home baseball game.
