Welcome to HouseHunter, our local property & lifestyle magazine... Welcome to the latest edition of our HouseHunter magazine. You will find a selection of some of the properties available, both for sale and to let, across our network of local offices. Well, March brought the positive changes in the weather and now the clocks have changed it really does feel like Spring. I know I’m not the only one who enjoys travelling to and from work in the daylight. Inevitably these things have a positive impact on our business levels. However, the unique thing about March 2016 was the frantic push to see purchases through that were affected by the changes in Stamp Duty Land Tax before the deadline. I must say our teams did really well and worked to achieve this for our clients. The frantic activity could have easily taken our entire teams’ efforts but with careful planning and management, each office has performed really well. I am pleased to say we have delivered a significant number of new homes to the market, many of which are featured in here. Our lettings teams have followed the lead and had our best month of the year in terms of new properties to the market and lets. Exam Nerves Many households will be in the full throes of revision timetables and all the anxiety that goes with exams, whether GCSEs, A levels or university end of year. Achieving ones’s goals and ambitions is getting ever more demanding and top grades are not always in themselves enough. Cambridge Cookery School was certified as an Approved Activity Provider by the DofE organisation four years ago and our DofE courses, run in conjunction with our Cooking for Uni courses, have become a runaway success. We now offer almost wall to wall courses during the summer holidays as well as courses during Easter and Christmas. Students get a taste of being a Cambridge student by staying across the road from us at Homerton College and spend five full days cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our stunning teaching kitchen and experienced staff provide students with a wonderful environment in which to get to grips with knife skills, basic food hygiene, budgeting, nutrition and, above all, a life long joy of cooking. A typical day will start with students cooking a variety of breakfasts, ranging from porridge to omelette. Mid morning is our time for making cakes and preparing salads and desserts before embarking on cooking two or three different dishes for lunch. Afternoons are yet again dedicated to cake or biscuit making before starting on supper.
The Gold residential course requires students to take part in communal evening activities and we make the most of our central Cambridge setting to take students punting, picnicking in parks and walking around historical Cambridge.

The 1st of April marked the start of the new energy efficiency standards for housing in England and Wales – the first step in the government’s long term drive to improve energy efficiency in the private rental sector (PRS).
