Welcome to HouseHunter, our local property & lifestyle magazine... Welcome to the latest edition of our HouseHunter magazine. You will find a selection of some of the properties available, both for sale and to let, across our network of local offices. 2015 was certainly a good year for TuckerGardner. The sales and lettings market was reassuringly strong and we continued to perform well across all segments of the market. It wasn’t without its challenges though. There were very few people who predicted or foresaw the problems we have faced with a shortage of stock - this has undoubtedly been a significant force behind the well documented increases we have seen in sale and rental prices. The General Election was billed as being the closest in years, the result proved something different but it certainly had an impact on the Spring/Summer market last year. The subsequent budget and the changes to property taxation, including Stamp Duty, Capital Gains Tax and Buy-to-Let income tax are sure to present challenges this year. With such strong performance we have chosen to invest heavily in our people and places. We are really proud of our 2 newly refurbished offices in Great Shelford, not to mention our new branches in Saffron Walden and Sawston. But perhaps the highlight is our new headquarters in Cambridge, No.51 Hills Road, arguably the greenest office building in the city with enough space for our ever growing team. 2016 looks set to present its own challenges, but we enter it in pretty fine shape and are excited by what is happening at TuckerGardner. Stock shortage may well still be our biggest challenge, however, you never know what’s around the corner. Alex

Danish Smørrebrød Denmark is known for its "Smørrebrød" - open sandwiches made from thin slices of buttered rye bread (Smørrebrød means "buttered bread") topped with what is more or less a whole meal. This is one of the classics - a piece of pan fried plaice fillet, served while still warm, topped with Remoulade, the Danish version of Tartar Sauce. Including curry and pickled gherkins, Remoulade is sweeter than Tartar Sauce and simply delicious with fried fish. (4 pieces) 4 slices of thin full-corn Rye Cold butter for the bread 1 egg 3 tablespoons of white bread crumbs Salt and pepper Butter for frying 1/2 double plaice fillet per person
Remoulade 1 tablespoon finely chopped pickled gherkins 1 tablespoon finely chopped silver skin onions 1 teaspoon finely chopped capers 1 teaspoon finely chopped parsley 1 teaspoon finely chopped tarragon 1 teaspoon mild curry powder 100ml good quality mayonnaise
Add all the Remoulade ingredients to the mayonnaise and let it stand while you fry the fish. Dip the single fillets in egg then bread crumbs. Season with salt and white pepper. Heat the butter but take care not to over heat and burn it. Fry the fish fillets until golden and crips - a couple of minutes on each side. Butter each slice of rye, top with a warm fish fillet and a generous mound of Remoulade. Eat with knife and fork!
