Market View In 2013, 61% of Cambridge property sales took place in the second half of the year, with 23.2% taking place in just two months.

The story was similar in Ely, with 62% of 2013 sales taking place in the second half of the year, 21.4% in the months of August and September.

Featured cheeses and special promotions ensure that there is always something different to try. Tracy advises on the best cheeses and meats to suit each palate and offers tasters: “Customer service is vitally important to us – we’re always happy for people to try before they buy and we love to hear people’s comments and feedback.”

Tracy also designs and supplies bespoke cheese towers for weddings and other special events.

Many of the delicatessens products are sourced within 50 miles of Ely, and cakes, macarons and gin are sourced from within the city itself. As Tracy explains: “East Anglia has a great food heritage. With Great Taste Award winning food produced on our doorstep, from ice cream, jams, chutneys, sauces, and even chilli sauces, we have a wealth of good quality local food to choose from.

We obviously do go further afield when we have to but it is important to us to source local, great tasting foods whenever we can.”

Tracy, a former chemical scientist, holds diplomas in Charcuterie and Cheese from the Guild of Fine Food and was delighted to be invited to judge the Great Taste Awards this year.

“Over 10,000 foods enter the Great Taste Awards each year.

Many were awarded one or two stars but only 153 of these were awarded three stars, the highest rating, this year so the judging is really tough. It was a great experience for me - to see what new products are coming up, to meet suppliers and other deli owners and to understand what it takes to get a Great Taste Award, especially as we sell quite a few!”

The recent addition of an outside seating area has also added another dimension to the delicatessen. The menu reflects the delicatessen itself and contains favourites such as Deli Platters – a choice of cheese, olives, meats and bread; Bread and Oils; Cream Teas and cakes. The deli is also fully licensed so you can enjoy a glass of wine, beer or cider whilst people watching on the Market Square.
