Since that time, Dr. Mosley has been instrumental in training ministers and laity to take authority over spiritual forces and walk freely from sin, sickness, poverty, and disease. For 12 years, Dr. Mosley was the Pastor of the Greater Bethlehem Healing Temple located in Newark, NJ. During the time that he was a pastor, Dr. Mosley initiated the concept of the School of the Prophets, which was held at Essex County College in New Jersey. TESTIMONY OF THE YEAR Brand New
ere I was in jail again for the ump-teenth time. There was nothing really different about this time except, if the cops hadn’t arrested me when they did, I’m certain I would be dead by now. It was always for the same old thing-prostitution. It all started with cocaine, the monster drug from the pits of hell. I started out using it recreationally, as a fun thing I did only at parties with “special” friends. However, soon it turned out I liked cocaine more than life itself because of the feelings of euphoria it gave me. That’s how I began to using it secretly and by myself. It got out of control quickly and I had to find ways and means to get more, so I turned to prostitution. At first it was not big deal if I slept with a guy to get high. It was a matter of supply and demand. They supplied me with what I wanted and I met their demands. In the beginning, I slept around on occasion, whenever and with whomever I chose. It was always my choice. It wasn’t long before that all changed. Because of the increase in my drug intake appetite, I was forced to sleep with guys I didn’t want to sleep with. I no longer had choices. I had a monster growing inside of me and whether I like it or not, I had to feed it. I began my career as a fullfledged street prostitute in 1985, upon the advice of a friend. I had been frequenting bars and local pubs for a while, making small time change until Ernestine pulled me aside one day and gave me some free advice. “Girl, let me show you how to make some real money.” Immediately I was interested, but a part of me was a bit fearful. I had read newspaper articles, obituaries and seen movies of what often happens to prostitutes, especially the small time ones. But that wasn’t enough to keep me from giving it a try. I lucked up on my first encounter I made $250.00. “Wow”, I thought, “This is good money.” I had stolen money from my trick’s roommate. We drank a few beers, smoked some weed and I pretended I was too drunk to engage in sex. Afterall, having 250 dollars, I didn’t see any point in having sex. I decided to take my winnings and leave before I got caught. That’s

I needed food and water in a bad way. I was completely dehydrated and mal-nourished. I am sure I was near death because my breathing was faint and shallow. I had become homeless and lived in abandoned houses, empty apartment hallways and/or even empty cars. Once I tried to find shelter in the dead of winter in the bed of empty 18-wheeler truck. It was icy cold and the wind chill factor made the temperature sub-zero. I was never able to fall asleep. I’m certain had I fallen asleep I would not be alive today. God kept me. It was while I was in jail that I got saved. I wasn’t even planning on it, but today I realize that I had had a divine appointment with the Lord Jesus. I was in the basement laundry room of the local jail folding sheets and towels when a song came on the radio that brought conviction to me. The words to the song were, “I’m sorry, forgive me, clean me up and give me another chance.” That song broke me and the floodgate of tears came through. I wept bitterly before the Lord, telling Him how sorry I was for the life I had lived. I continues on Page 12
6 On August 18, 2011, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced an agency-wide expansion of prosecutorial discretion guidelines that will hopefully allow immigration officials to focus their enforcement efforts on targeting dangerous criminals. DHS also announced the creation of a joint committee with the Department of Justice (DOJ) that will review nearly 300,000 immigration cases currently in removal proceedings to determine whether cases are low priority enough to be closed. The factors for determining low priority cases were outlined last June in a memo issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton. While many immigration groups applaud today’s announcement, many are still concerned about DHS’s ability to successfully implement these guidelines. In a letter to Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and 21 other senators, DHS announced that immigrants who are not high priority targets for removal will have the opportunity to request prosecutorial discretion on a case by case basis. Identified in a

memo by ICE Director John Morton last June 17, low priority cases include persons who: are not criminals and have been in the country since childhood (DREAM Act students) have strong community ties are veterans or relatives of persons in the armed services are caregivers have serious health issues are victims of crime or otherwise have a strong basis for remaining in the United States. On a conference call, the White House clarified that within a few months, ICE attorneys will review every case scheduled for a hearing in order to identify cases which meet the above criteria. Additionally, the new guidelines will be issued to ICE, USCIS, and CBP officers to ensure that they appropriately exercise discretion when determining whether a low priority case should be referred to immigration court.
JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2012 does not address all of my concerns, but it is the start of a process that will save many American families and individuals who deserve to live long and productive lives in this country. The announcement was indeed a positive step forward for DHS and the Administration, especially on the heels of the hotly contest Secure Communities program. Immigration groups are understandably weary of whether DHS will hold itself accountable to today’s announcements. But as groups monitor the implementation of these guidelines in the weeks and months ahead, let’s hope DHS provides enough transparency and infrastructure to make these guidelines a reality.
The White House also announced that a new joint committee made up of government officials will review the nearly 300,000 cases currently in removal proceedings, which may take several months. Once an immigration case is closed, the individual is eligible to apply for work authorization. Although some groups were quick to criticize the announcement as political pandering, others, like one of the President’s most vocal critics, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (DIL), applauded the effort as a good FREE CONSULTATIONS ON PROSstart: ECUTORIAL DISCRETION GUIDELINES. The true story of a Prophet
W
ho would have ever thought that a young boy, Tyric Vessel, born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 2, 1980 would have encountered tragedy at such a young age, due to the sudden, unexpected violent murder of both his parents. He was now forced to enter into the dreaded world of foster care, thrown from home to home with no love nor stability for several years, and then to be adopted into a foster home from hell. His life had now become one filled with rejection, neglect, starvation, deep hurt, child abuse, and pain. This dysfunctional abusive family life led Tyric to a life of rebellion and crime. He was incarcerated at the age of fourteen and once released went home only to be kicked out by his foster parents at the age of 16. Now being homeless with nothing and no one but himself against the cold, cruel world, he began his life on the streets. He started to hangout with the wrong crowds, looking for a sense of belonging and attention. He was not aware at first that this path would lead to the wicked world of destruction, drugs, guns, violence and suicide attempts. However, he found a sense of hope when the opportunity came to do shows for a friend, who was a local artist, to generate a little money, to make ends meet. This made him realize his dream of one day becoming a successful singer. However, tragedy struck again, when Tyric’s only friend and life line was sentenced to 14 years in prison. This forced Tyric back on the streets relocating to Ohio and from Ohio to Washington DC having no support and nowhere else to turn. Tyric saw his life spiraling out of control. He began to live the life of a gangster and saw a lot of his friends getting killed. Then suddenly when everything was going downhill fast, a man appeared at his door. The man’s name was Tyran, a close friend of Tyric’s imprisoned brother, sent to keep him out of trouble. Tyran was well connected in the music industry having a cousin who managed Biggie Small and Jay-Z, two famous artists. Thinking back I can remember the day so vividly when Tyran persuaded me to go to New York to pursue a career in music. I went to NY with him but, unfortunately it didn’t workout as expected and I ended up back in DC. This episode had to be God’s will since this proved to be the first chapter of a miraculous new beginning. I eventually ended up in Louisiana wherein
God divinely connected me with my biological aunt, who is also a pastor, one who preached and lived the word of God. I will never forget when I got to her house and she said “son when you leave this house you will never be the same.’’ That was indeed the pivotal turning point of my life. She took me in and training me in the things of God hence beginning my intimate relationship with Him. At the time my aunt had a revival going on at her church in Baton Rouge where she had a guest speaker, Prophet Herbert Tate from New Orleans. That night I didn’t want to go, but as soon as I hit the church ground I heard and felt the power of God. That night words were spoken about my life and the prophet called me out and told me I too was a prophet. He told me God shall raise me up to do a quick work in my life. I remember it like it was yesterday. That night my life was changed forever. I spoke to the prophet and he told me that I was assigned to his life. I begin to be his armor bearer since at the time he was a pastor of one church but pastor at 2 locations, so it was a lot of services. God began to raise me up to this calling. I will never forget 1 night when I was at my aunt’s house and I was not filled with the Holy Ghost. I was still praying for deliverance after bible study. I was outside and my spirit was feeling funny. I remember that when I walked outside I ask him to pray for me and that night on my auntie’s porch I was delivered from unclean spirits. Fourteen (14) days later I was filled with the Holy Ghost. Jesus did some major work in a short time and that’s what I called true deliverance. I will never forget that night since I felt so much peace as I went to sleep. After that the mantle of intercession was passed to me through the prophet. I started seeking God’s face for directions. I remember the day my aunt’s prophecy to me said “God says it’s time to relocate.” At first I resisted, but then New York City popped into my spirit. I only knew one (1) person in New York, my ex-manager’s brother. Two (2) months later I got a $86.00 ticket to NY. I will never forget getting to the greyhound station with only $50.00 in my pocket and the Holy Ghost. I moved by faith with the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately my manager and I had a falling out because the music and business wasn’t going right. Luckily I had a wide network with many people because I was still writing and selling songs in the industry. My brother in the Holy Ghost invited me to the Juanita
Bynum 5 am prayer in 2002 at New Greater Bethel under the Apostle John H. Boyd Senior. It was there that I begin to grow higher in my calling. I felt the gifts starting to kick, and I started understanding the voice of God. I knew my office was the office of the prophetic. God started leading me to the subways in New York to start preaching his word and salvation. It was there that I delivered the good news of God to the nations and to all type of people. The door soon opened to evangelize from Florida to Louisiana and in Washington, DC and South Carolina. I recently went home for a home going funeral for my best friend, and I was called upon to minister at the funeral. It seems like every time I go home I get a promotion. This time I got a phone call at my bishop house from my Archbishop Williams who told me that she had to consecrate me before I could go back to New York as an Apostle. So I was licensed and ordained as an Apostle. I didn’t ask for this office, but God anointed and appointed me for this mission in my mother’s womb. I believe God is raising up a new group of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastors and teachers who can go outside four walls and reach the lost people, I don’t care about a title. I’m a servant of the Lord at the end of the day. At the present time I’m working on my nonprofit organization and the first project will be my prayer CD. I am also working on a fund raiser for the organization and I will be working on an anti-violence program to help gang members and youths by being a mentor to them. I believe God took me through the hard times to raise me up for the life I lead now. As I sit back and reflect on my old life I realize I would probably be dead
or in jail by now. However, God had a purpose for me so I can speak life into a Joshua Generation. My passion is for the lost and non believers. The word of the Lord won me over, and I would like to pass that word on to others. Many thanks to my Aunt; Bishop Thelma Pearl from Baton Rouge, Prophet Herbert Tate from New Orleans, Archbishop Williams, Pastor Sheriama Latham, John H Boyd, Prophetess Juanita Bynum, Pastor and Micheal E. Turplin. Special thanks to Apostle, Dr. Aretha Wilson at Kingdom Ambassadors Global Ministries, in Lynbrook wherein I currently attend services. You are truly a blessing in my life, thank you for keeping me planted in the word of God. Thank God for all the people who entered and enriched my life spiritually. I also thank God for good news chronicles and for giving me an opportunity to testify my testimony to the world. Is the door of your life
open to Satan?
T
he kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan generally operate by legal rights or open doorways. Unless we open the door of our lives to God, He can’t come in to our lives to be our personal Savior, healer and deliverer. That is why Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” If you don’t allow Him in, He won’t come in. Have you invited Jesus to be your Savior, healer and deliverer? If you haven’t, please open the door of your life to Him now. In the same way, the Devil generally can’t come into your life except the door is open to him. Unlike God, who only comes in by your personal prayer of invitation, there are many ways the door can be opened to Satan. Some of those ways are through thoughts and actions most people think are harmless. Some of the problems and demonic attacks we experience are as a direct re-
Third Article in this Special Series Revival is coming to New York City! Are you ready ? Most churches do not want any revival distraction in their church . There are too many fancy dinners to be planned . There are too many super singers coming to entertain everybody . The pastors have become great at becoming the best master of ceremonies!! The famous pastor from South Korea, Rev. David Cho, pastor of the largest church in the world, does not like to come to America to preach because he has to sit and wait for 2 hours in the pulpit for all the singing and dancing and announcements to be done before he can start preaching the holy word of God. So what am I supposed to do ? Check your battery ! Get your faith going. How am I going to do that ? Today I am going to teach you about the power of love. Everything in the kingdom of god operates by faith. This includes healing, deliverance, and prosperity. The bible refers to faith as the key to unlocking whatever resources we need or desire. It brings them from the spiritual realm to the natural realm. Faith coupled with the word of god
sult of doors that have been opened to Satan unknowingly. Unless you close those doors, the devil has a legal right to operate in your life and to steal, kill and destroy any blessing that is in your life. The first step to take in receiving deliverance from all demonic attacks and problems is making sure all doors are closed to Satan. How can you close doors unless you know what has open the door to the enemy in your life? Here is a list of things that opens the door to the devil. 1. A family background in the occult or false religions. See Exodus 20:1-5 Examples of cults and false religions include: Rosicrucian, Masons, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness, Palm Reading, Psychics, Tarot Card Reading, Bush Bath, etc. Whenever you visit the psychic, root workers or spiritual readers, you open the door of your life to their God, Satan. Many people are deceived because the things these psychics or “readers” tell them about them-
can produce awesome results. By faith we believe, act on, and consistently speak the word over our circumstances. By faith we also believe we are who the bible says we are and can do what it says we can do. Through faith we make the word our final authority by speaking it hearing it, meditating on it, and acting on it. Faith works by love. Have you ever wondered why your prayers were unanswered ? Or why you did not receive a breakthrough after applying the principles you learned in church ? I certainly have. So I began to search the scriptures for the answer and made an awesome discovery ! “For we through the spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision ; but faith which ___--worketh by love. “ (Galatians 5 : 5,6) Faith works by love 1 Even though faith is activated by our confessions, it only actually works when we apply love. And yet, many people have neither seen nor experienced the manifestation of their faith. You see, you can have a flashlight, but until you put batteries in it, that flashlight will not work. Love is like that battery. Everything in the kingdom of

What they don’t know is that the devil too has the ability to see. These psychics work hand in hand with familiar or demonic spirit and get information about people from the spirits. Just because someone is able to perform signs and wonders does not mean they are doing it through the power of God. In Exodus 7:11, we see that Pharaoh’s wise men, sorcerers and magicians did some of the miracles that Moses, a servant of God, did with their demonic enchantments. They even operate out of churches. There are many spiritual or “white garment” churches around the City. Some of

god operates by faith, but faith will not work without love ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Think about some of the things you have been believing god for. It may be getting out of debt, getting a promotion, or receiving your healing. You may have been praying about those things foe weeks, months, or even years …… and still no answer from god. Well, that is not the kind of god we serve. In john 3:2, god reveals his desire for us: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thoumayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth I do not have to struggle anymore with the question, “oh God, why are you not answering my prayers ? “ I know if my faith is not working, it is because my love is not working Faith is active. It will change things. But faith that is not backed up by love is powerless because faith works by love. Love is the force behind faith. It
is explosive and active; it causes great things to happen. So if your faith runs out of gas and stops moving, go fill up your tank with premium love and watch your faith work as never before. continued from Page 5 cried out to God telling Him I knew I had wasted most of my life, but I asked Him not to let me die and go to hell. I asked God to give me one more chance and I vowed that if He saved me, I would serve Him till the day I die. There were five other women working with me in that laundry room that day. When I came to myself I was no longer folding sheets and towels. I had walked over to that radio and the reset of the room became oblivious to me. It was just me and Jesus. He visited me right there in that jail. After a few hours working, we returned to our cell blocks. The other women working with me went back and told the others what had happened to me. They began to bet against me. They said, “We give her two weeks and she’ll be back on drugs. We give her two weeks and she’ll be prostituting again. We give her two weeks and she’ll be back in jail.” They underestimate the power of God. It has been 17 years and God has kept me.
After being saved for two years, I enrolled in college fulltime and four years later I graduated Cum Laude from Winston-Salem State University with a degree in English. Two weeks later I got hired as a high school English teacher. After I was hired the school system checked my police record and learned that I had a criminal record as long as my arm. They called me in and told me to write a written explanation, which I did. I simply told the truth and concluded that I was not longer that person. Then I had to go to Raleigh to appear before the Ethics Committee. I did and when they discussed my case, the committee decided to grant me my teaching license, saying “Janet we knew you weren’t the same person; we just wanted to meet you. Best wishes on your teaching career.” I taught for 5 and one-half years before the Lord moved me along. In 2005, The Lord told me to write a deliverance book called Sleeping With The Enemy. This book is filed with stories of people from all over the world, who have encountered sexual immorality and perversion demons. This is a book on how to get and stay delivered
from sexual promiscuity because the Lord wants His bride to be pure. This book was not written for sinners, but for the saints. The book has been on demand everywhere. I used to be homeless when I was using drugs. Then the Lord blessed me to buy a brand new home which I lived comfortably in for four years. Everything was going well and I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and comfort of my home. Then God upset my apple cart by telling me to quit my job, sell my house and move to Raleigh. Although I didn’t know what God was up to, I obeyed. I quit my job and put my house up for sale right in the middle of the recession and moved to Raleigh. I immediately began applying for new teaching positions, but found none. There was a state hiring freeze. I was there for five months before I learned why God had brought me there. The Lord told me to enroll in graduate school to become a principal. I applied for a scholarship and it was granted. I enrolled in North Carolina Central University in August 2009. I am currently in my second year of grad school, completing my internship as an as-
sistant principal at an elementary school. I will be graduating with a principal’s license in May 2011. The Lord has blessed me to write Sleeping With The Enemy 2 and 3. I am also in the process of recording my first CD. My testimony has taken me all over the world. God has opened countless doors for me, that have taken me to many different countries. As an ordained Spirit-filled evangelist, I travel throughout the U.S. and abroad, preaching the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I never tire of telling people about Jesus, my Savior because He’s been so good to me. I’m on the winning team now. When I look back over my life, I often weep because of the great work God has done in my life. All the glory belongs to God. My life is nothing short of a living miracle. God has done so many great things for me. I was a crack addicted street prostitute who is now becoming a principal. Like Joseph, God has brought me from the pit to the palace. Is there anything too hard for the Lord? To God be the glory!!!

R
13 why this was so, as I feel many of you reading this have also done. It has taken a long time for me to come to a place of peace about it, and I feel led to share it with you so that those of you who may be in that place can ponder what I say. We are not alone because we are unlovable or undeserving of someone in our lives to love us. We are not so dysfunctional that we are incapable of a relationship, nor so fearful of commitment that we avoid one at all costs. It is not fate that has destined us to be alone or, as some might think, bad luck. I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed God who has called us to be apart to serve Him better. When we were young, we would never have considered going into a convent or becoming a priest, but perhaps, as we have lived out our lives, we have come to recognize that God has uniquely prepared us to do now that which earlier in our lives we were not yet ready or willing to do. We now have the time, energy and resources to do it. Age is never a barrier for God, for those of you who may be saying that you are too old to be starting something new. You are a vital resource that God can use to accomplish His purposes. Your duties as a mother or wife may be complete, and you may have retired from work. You are exactly the person that God can use. Perhaps you have gifts that God gave you that you have never been able to develop. It is not too late. It was only after I retired that I began to do a radio show and write for this newspaper. My second challenge to you in this article, is for you to ask God what He has set you apart to do, and when you get an answer, do it. Ask the people around you how they think God can use you, if you don’t get your own answer. Being alone can be another way that you are free to do what God wants you to do and can be a great blessing.

AWARDED FOR RESEARCH IN CANCER CURE Health Disparities Researcher Wins $10,000 Rogers Award
L
orna McNeill, Ph.D., assistant professor in Health Disparities Research, is the recipient of the 2011 Julie and Ben Rogers Award for Excellence in Prevention. The $10,000 award, which rotates annually among the areas of patient care, research, education, prevention and administration, recognizes employees who consistently demonstrate excellence in their work and dedication to our mission to eliminate cancer. McNeill will formally receive the award at a presentation ceremony on Thursday, Sept.. 29, at 2:00 p.m., in the Duncan Building, Floor 8, Rooms 3-6. McNeill co-directs the Center for Community-Engaged Translational
Research. Her research seeks to eliminate cancer-related health disparities by increasing rates of physical activity in racial, ethnic and underserved communities. Those efforts include her work as lead investigator on a cohort study, Project CHURCH, designed to research and learn about cancer risk in African-Americans to improve cancerrelated outcomes in this population. This collaborative effort between MD Anderson and the local community involves the largest United Methodist church in the nation. “The significant gains in cancer outcomes are not equally seen in all
communities and subgroups,” says McNeill. “In particular, AfricanAmericans continue to have the highest incidence and death rates, and the shortest survival rate of any racial group for most cancers.” McNeill, an African-American, says her research comes full circle as she notices the effects of health disparities on minority communities. “When you look at the high rates of late-stage breast cancer, the high number of black men with prostate cancer, the high rates of diabetes and heart disease, and the list goes on, you realize that there’s work to do,” she says. McNeill considers her work both her career and her calling. “I firmly believe that I’m here, working on cancer-related research, as my ministry or calling in life,” she says. “I’m motivated every day by God to work harder, do more, experience more and feel more so that I can be of help to others.” McNeill received a bachelor of arts in Afro-American Studies and Industrial Relations, as well as a masters of public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her Ph.D. in Public Health Studies from Saint Louis University and went on to do her postdoctoral training at Harvard University. She belongs to the American Public Health Association, the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the American Society of Preventive Oncology. Her commitment to prevention and health disparities is inspired in
part by the encouragement and guidance of her parents, as well as a grandmother who died of breast cancer before she was born. Her goal is to ensure that generations to come have opportunities not previously available. “They found out very late that my Jamaican grandmother had cancer, and during those days you were sent home to die. How often I wish she were here, and if she had to be diagnosed with cancer that it could be during these exciting times of new cancer treatments and discoveries,” she says. “I’m a researcher because I want to learn what I can do to keep more grandchildren with their grandmothers.” McNeill credits her team for much of her own success. She considers her work place one where hard work is an outward manifestation of commitment to eliminating health disparities. “Some say that community-based research is messy or unscientific. I say that it’s neither of those,” says McNeill. “Rather, it’s the pathway toward truly eliminating health disparities in cancer risk and outcomes.” Regina Rogers, a senior member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, established the
Lorna McNeill Rogers Award in 1987 in honor of her parents, the late Julie and Ben Rogers, and in appreciation of the treatment her brother and her mother received at the institution for thyroid cancer and breast cancer, respectively. Ben Rogers served on the Board of Visitors from 1978 until his death in 1994, when his daughter and wife established the Julie & Ben Rogers Breast Diagnostic Clinic in his memory. Julie Rogers died in 1998. “I’m thrilled to be celebrating the 25th year of presenting this award at an institution that I hold so dear to my heart,” says Rogers. “MD Anderson continues to make such amazing strides in the area of prevention, education and

There is such an assortment of food available on most cruises that you can pick virtually any diet you want. It will be very difficult passing up those exquisite desserts! I do not anticipate a problem other than your will power. You can eat almost any food. Some cruises cater to diabetics, but they don’t know your particular needs, and may just offer ‘diabetic’ foods (sugarless desserts, jelly or ice cream). There is no need to eat these if you want to really enjoy your vacation. In fact studies show that using artificial sweeteners tend to make you hungrier. No need to walk around with your written meal plan either. Just consider these: Breakfast: If you want to try most of the offerings, then: 1. Take very small portions of each.
2. Cut down on the syrup, jelly and butter. 3. Stay with low fat milk for your cereal 4. Make sure your cereal is whole grain (most hot cereal, high fiber cold cereals); avoid sugary cereals. Snack: No doubt you may be tempted to eat again: 1. Do plain yogurt with a fresh fruit, or a sandwich without the mayo. Mustard is safe. 2. Drink lots of water. As a diabetic you are at risk for dehydration. Lunch: 1. Again, you will have several choices. If you are tempted to have more than one meat or starch, take very small portions of each. My suggestion? Have the meat and fill up on vegetables (and I don’t mean potatoes and corn. These are starchy vegetables!) 2. Avoid the sauces, and gravies. 3. Take very small portions of dessert offerings. Snack: No doubt you may be tempted to eat again:
1. Keep some of those dessert offerings at lunch for snack. 2. Drink lots of water. As a diabetic you are at risk for dehydration. Dinner: See lunch. Cruises are a well-known challenge for people like you whose diabetes control is crucial During cruises the amount of foods provided is enormous - available all day from breakfast till midnight. Find the strength to guzzle sensibly, especially watching portion size just as you do at home. It may not natural, but it is important. Remember many of these exotic drinks can contain a lot of sugar. Sip, instead of guzzling. The clearer the drink, the less calories and sugar. Your first blood sugar assessment after the cruise will tell your doctor whether or not you did a good job. Be blessed, have fun, eat well, and stay healthy.

Gloria Stewberry, New Jersey, asked:
What is the process for getting funding? Response by Valerie Samuel
The process of obtaining grants requires a complete project management plan prior to starting your search. Your planning process should cover a broad scope of activities including preliminary planning and research, proposal development, and proposal follow-up. Through this process, two questions pop out that are commonly asked by grantseekers, “Where is the money available?” and “How do I get it?” The following highlights these questions and provides useful information for grantseekers like you in search of funding dollars.
Where Does the Money Come From? The two primary sources of grant money are public and private funds. Public funds are obtained from governmental units, such as federal, state, and local agencies. Private funds, on the other hand, come from organizations involved in charitable giving, such as foundations, direct giving programs, voluntary agencies, and community groups. The Federal government is the largest of all the grantmakers. However, much of the federal grant budget moves to the states through formula and block grants.
From there it is up to the states to decide how to use the money. The federal government administers several types of grants designed to accomplish different purposes, such as conducting scientific research, demonstrating a particular theory, or delivering services to a specific population. Examples of these grants include: • Research grants to support investigations aimed at the discovery of facts, revision of accepted theories, or application of new or revised theories. • Demonstration grants to demonstrate or establish the feasibility of a particular theory or approach. • Project grants to support individual projects in accordance with legislation that gives the funding agency discretion in selecting the project, grantees, and amount of award. • Block grants to provide states with funding for a particular purpose; and • Formula grants to provide funding to specified grantees on the basis of a specific formula, using indicators such as per capita income, mortality, or morbidity rates, outlined in legislation or regulations. All organizations applying for a federal grant or cooperative agreement must have a DUNS number. To request a DUNS Number by web http://fedgov.dnb.com/
webform, or toll free, 866.705.5711. In addition to federal funding, state and local agencies also administer grants. Monies used to support these programs are obtained primarily through state and local tax revenues and funds received from the federal government (ie: block and formula grants) Federal Application Forms. FedForms. gov provides “one-stop-shopping” for the federal forms most used by the public. FedForms contains many, but not all, of the forms issued by the federal agencies. If you can not find the forms you need in FedForms, try the Agency Forms Links at: http://www.forms.gov/bgfPortal/agencyDoes.do. Private Funding can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as foundations, corporations, voluntary agencies and community groups. For the most part, philanthropic organizations fund programs which either address their individual interests (e.g., domestic violence) or benefit a particular group (e.g., company employees and their dependents. Examples of major types of philanthropic organizations include: •Private foundations which receive income from an individual (e.g., Wyclef Jean, Steve Harvey, Bill and Malinda Gages) family or group of individuals. The funding priorities of private foundations are usually based on the personal philosophies of the founding members. • Corporate foundations which receive
contributions from a profit-making entity, such as a corporation like Target. • Community foundations involved in grant giving within a specific community or region. • Direct giving programs philanthropic arms of corporations which donate goods and services for charitable causes. • Voluntary agencies private organizations which support charitable programs that are consistent with their overall mission. The American Red Cross, for example, provides printed materials and staff consultation for health projects in various communities. • Community groups local organizations which focus on supporting projects within their communities. Examples of these organizations include churches, Junior Leagues, and civic organizations. How do I Obtain Funding? Regardless of the type of funding desired, the process involves there distinct phases: preliminary planning and research, effective proposal writing, and proposal follow-up. Our team www. valeriesamuelsnonprofitcenter.com specializes in the planning, executing and management of this overall process and is available to facilitate your process. To complete these phases successfully on your own, the grantseeker should consider the following steps:

acebook has taken the social life to the World Wide Web; no longer do we have to wait to see a close friend to know what the latest in his or her life is. From the comfort of our homes we relax and unwind with the click of a mouse. As the generation that is called to take back what is rightfully ours in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we must prepare ourselves for battle. As Esther prepared herself by praying and fasting for three day and night and removing herself from the luxury of royalty, we too as prince/princesses of God must prepare ourselves for spiritual warfare against the enemy of our souls. Esther didn’t stand before the great king of Persia as his wife but as a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. She was an ambassador of God to a great nation. We must follow in the example of our foreparents of faith, and know that the God of Esther is the same God of yesterday today and forever.

For example, he’s either spiritually bankrupt, not goal oriented, or thinks there is nothing wrong with sex before the ring! “Waiter, check please!” While we may begin to get impatient in the love department, nothing is worth compromising. I have spent many years making excuses for the men in my life. “Maybe he’ll grow and change his mind....” was my favorite excuse, instead of taking them for what they were and
what they said. Of course no one is perfect and you’re going to run into some form of issue or baggage, but there should be at least five non-negotiable items that you require a mate to have that you just won’t compromise. It is always good to have people to keep you in line whenever they see you deviate from that list out of desperation! Best advice I ever got was “Shut up and wait!” Actively wait that is. Sometimes people can join the body of Christ and lose all common sense. It’s important to expand your horizons and meet new people, while staying in the Christian guidelines. Lines get blurry when we continue worldly habits and expect God’s blessing. It doesn’t work that way. Don’t waste time hoping people will change.
People will change when they want to, not when you want them to. If someone shows you who they are, believe them! Remember: And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9 (KJV) Take a few minutes and write down your non-negotiable items you require a suitable mate to have. It will help you in your future selections. Take a tip from Bishop TD Jakes and “Get Ready! Get Ready! Get Ready...!” He/She is coming! Love, Niya

by Rev. Linus Baptiste, Senior Pastor, Global Life Prayer Faith Healing Ministries

ather, Your word says that I am a partaker of the inheritance and treasures of Heaven. You have delivered me out of the authority of darkness and translate me into the Kingdom of Your dear Son. Father, where Your word is, there is light, and also understanding. Your word does not return to You void, but al-
ways accomplishes what it is sent to do. I am joint-heir with Jesus, the Anointed One, and as Your son/ daughter I accept that communication of my faith is effectual by the acknowledging of every good work that is in me in Christ Jesus. Father, I commit my works (the plans and cares of my ministry and business) to You, intrusting them wholly to You. Since You are effectually at work in me, You cause my thoughts to become agreeable with Your will so that my ministry and business will be established and succeed. In the name of Jesus, I submit to every kind of wisdom, practical insight, and prudence, which You have lavished upon me in accordance with the riches and generosity of Your gracious favor. Father I affirm that I obey Your word by making an honest living with my own hands so
that I may be able to give to those in need. In Your strength and accordance to Your grace, I provide for myself and my own family. Thank you Father, for making all grace, every favor and earthly blessing come to me in abundance that I, having all sufficiency, may abound to every good work. Father, thank you for the Ministering Spirit you have assigned to go forth and bring consumers. Jesus “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. In His name my light shall shine before all men that they may see my good works and glorify You. Thank you for the grace to remain diligent in seeking knowledge. I ask You for wisdom and the ability to understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealings in every area and relationship. I affirm that I am faith-
ful and committed to Your Word. My life, ministry and business are founded upon its principles. Father thank you for the success of my ministry and business, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Our soon coming king who died on the cross so that I can have life everlasting and abundantly. Amen. God created man first and then He created woman. I know and trust that God has a reason for creating man first. We were all created in the image and likeness of God., some men and some women. Men were created with a nature of strength, physically and mentally, while women were created with a nature of emotions, and nurturing abilities. Genesis 2:22-23 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. God intended it to be this way because women need the physical strength and mental strength of a man, while men need the understanding and caring attributes that a woman carry. Simply speaking, we need each other because we have what each other needs, to fulfill our purpose and destiny on this earth. No man or woman can totally complete his or her full purpose and calling on this earth without the partner God has ordained for them. One may be able to fulfill up to an acceptable level in their destiny and walk, but total completion of God’s will and purpose for a son or daughter on this earth requires that complete union of partnership from an ordained partner. When two people are joined together in Holy Marriage they shall become “One”, as God said in

by Betty Ann Berazzah Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. If you involve yourself with these people and their practices, you open your life to demonic attacks and need deliverance. Every time you go to the devil for protection or anything, he gives you his demonic spirits which manifest themselves in your life as bad luck, curses, night visitors etc. You must repent of your worship of false gods and renounce them. 2. Negative prenatal influences, such as visiting a witch doctor before or while pregnant or even the thought of having an abortion. 3. Pressures in early childhood such as sexual abuse and childhood rivalry. 4. Emotional shock or sustained emotional pressure. For examples witnessing a murder or being in a burning building. 5. Sinful acts or habits. Because of their sin, Ananias and Sapphira opened themselves to be filled with spirits of covetousness, lying and deceit. See Acts 5:3 and John 5:14. 6. Laying on of hands. Just as the Holy Spirit can be imparted through the laying on of hands (Acts 19:6), demonic spirits can be transferred through laying of hands (transference of spirits). You can’t allow just anybody to lay hands on you. It does not matter what their title or position is. You need to test all spirits and make sure they are of God before you allow them to lay hands on you. It is very dangerous going from church to church in search of help. Many people have become possessed and their problem gotten worse because they visit a pastor with “another spirit” not of God. Be careful. 7. Inheritance. Sometimes the source of your problem is not you. Sometimes it is your ancestors. They made a covenant with Satan years ago on your behalf and you are suffering from the result of the agreement. Just like a person can inherit diabetes because it is in their family or gene, a person can inherit curses, hindrances and blockages. There are many people who can’t make headway in life today because of the sins and covenants of their ancestors. The bible makes it clear that God visits the iniquities of the father upon the children to the third and fourth generation. (Exodus 20:5) That means you may be suffering from the sins and evil work that your ancestors have committed 160 years ago. They may have gone to these evil doers to help them conceive a child-you! These acts become destiny changers in your life; the devil does not give anything without demanding a great price in return. Do

Your enemies may visit voodoo or obeah man and they receive some charms or potion and bury them somewhere like inside a tree, in the ground, under the bed, etc . As long as those things remain buried, they will be working against you. You can send the fire of God to locate every evil power working against you to burn and destroy them in Jesus name. 6. Commanding Satan to release all he has stolen. 7. Releasing yourself from acquired and inherited bondages. You may think that you have no control over inherited bondages and curses. After all you did not do anything to cause this upon yourself. Not true; warfare prayer can remove all inherited bondages and curses not just from your life but to the third and fourth generation. 8. Destruction of evil communication. Through warfare prayer you can break every evil communication system the devil uses to communicate with you. 9. Arresting and binding territorial spirits. You can arrest and bind the evil spirits controlling the community where you live, work or do business. Prayer of Forgiveness and Renunciation If you see that you have opened the door one way or the other in the past to the devil, there is a need to repent, renounce and close all doors to Satan in your life. Please read the following scriptures. They are God’s words that promise deliverance. After that, pray the following prayers by faith and trust God to forgive you and remove all demonic spirits and attacks from your life. Scriptures— 2 Timothy 2:18; Jeremiah 15:21; Psalm 91:3 Prayer For Forgiveness Father, I confess that in the past I have held unforgiveness, sometimes bitterness and resentment in my heart against certain people who have hurt or disappointed me. I now recognize this as sin and confess it as sin, for you have said in your Word that if we confess our sin, you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness (1John 1:9) I do now forgive the following people I can remember, who have hurt or disappointed me. {Insert here the names of all who come to mind } Confessions of Contact with the Occult Father, I confess to You, that in the past, through ignorance, curiosity or willfulness, I have come into contact with certain occult things. Moses and the Children of Israel were led by the Lord through the wilderness by pillar of fire at night and by the cloud during the day so they would not miss their way in the wilderness and they lacked nothing but unfortunately the people said among themselves “let us choose us a captain to lead us back to Egypt, many believers right now are in their spiritual Egypt, God help them. Specifically I do confess as sin and I reject, revoke and renounce all contacts and membership with the following occult things and associations: {name all that come to mind} I also renounce, revoke and confess as sin any false oaths, which I may have made to any false god and any idolatry in which I have been involved in Jesus name. I break any covenant binding me with any of these evil associations, in name of Jesus. I bind the demons attached to these covenants and cast them into the deep, in the name of Jesus. I break and cancel every evil mark,

I break and dismantle every hindrance, obstacle or blockage put in my way of progress by my involvement in these evil associations, in the name of Jesus. I reject all the evil works I have done to innocent people through my membership with these evil association and ask the Almighty God to forgive me and wash me clean with the blood of Jesus. Closing the doors to Satan Satan, I rebuke you Jesus’ Name and
I am closing any doors, which my ancestors or I may have opened to you and your demons. I renounce Satan and all his demons; I declare them to be my enemies and I want them out of my life completely. In the name of Jesus Christ I now claim deliverance from any and all evil spirits, which may be in me. Once and for all I close the door in my life to all occult practices and command all connected and related spirits to leave me now. Prayer of Surrender to Jesus I come to you Lord Jesus, as my Deliverer. You know all my problems, all things that drive, torment, defile, and harass me. I now loose myself from
every dark spirit, from every evil influence, from all satanic bondage and from every spirit in me, which is not a spirit of God. I command all such spirits to leave me now in the Name of Jesus Christ. I confess that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed and sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore, Satan has no more place in me, no more power over me because of the blood of Jesus. Steve Harvey on the Move While Steve didn't reveal much about the upcoming book, he did offer some insight into his new show. "It's going to be a combination of things. I want to do a daytime show that is inspirational, uplifting and insightful. Then, the twist I'm going to put on it is that, in the middle of the day, it's going to be funny. I think I can deliver that," said Steve, who will be bringing some of the knowledge he shared in his books, to his show. "I'm going to be a guy on daytime television who is like a teammate for women. I'm championing their cause. I'm not telling secrets on guys. I'm giving the male perspective," said Steve, who has been criticized by some men for revealing too much about what guys think; but that isn't stopping him. "When [men] are talking to women, they have an ulterior motive. I don't have that right now because I'm really into one woman. I couldn't have said that 10 years ago. Now that I am, I can unveil a man's perspective to women. I think that gives me an edge in daytime television," he said. Along with his honest and unique perspective, Steve said he'll also be bringing the comedy. Though he said he is retiring from stand-up, the genre
that first put him on the map, he does plan to take the stage during each show to talk to the audience and bring the funny. "I think we will open the show in the 'Carol Burnett Show' style. I'm a huge Carol Burnett fan. I'm going to talk to people. I'm going to take questions. That's my forte. That will be the comedic moment in the beginning," he said.

Bishop Eddie Long’s wife decides again to seek divorce
The reconciliation of Vanessa and Eddie Long didn’t make it through the day, as the wife of the charismatic New Birth Missionary Baptist pastor has decided against withdrawing her petition for divorce filed late Thursday afternoon. “Mrs. Long continues to hope that this matter may be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously and fairly; however, she has determined that dismissal of her divorce petition is not appropriate at this time,” Kilpatrick Townsend partner Michael W. Tyler said in a prepared statement.
“To avoid any undue confusion, Mrs. Long’s future statements, if any, will be issued through her attorneys,” he said. A spokesman for Kilpatrick Townsend refused further comment. Three statements regarding the divorce were sent to media outlets Friday. In the first, Vanessa Long announced she was seeking to end her 21-year-marriage following “a great deal of deliberation and prayer.” Then, around lunchtime, in a statement sent through New Birth’s public relations firm, Vanessa Long was quoted as saying, upon further “prayerful reflection,” she was withdrawing the divorce petition. “I love my husband,” she was quoted in the second press release. “I believe in him and admire his strength and courage.” Long, a New Birth elder, said her decision to seek a divorce was driven by “years of attacks in the media that frustrated and overwhelmed me.” She and her husband “mutually agreed to find healing,” Vanessa Long is quoted in the release. Six hours later, her attorneys announced she was proceeding with the divorce “consistent with
her original [statement] made this morning.” In the divorce filing, Vanessa Long, 53, said her marriage to the New Birth pastor was “irretrievably broken” and there was “no hope of reconciliation.” The couple has been in a “state of separation,” according to the petition. “Vanessa is, and has always been, a loving, dedicated and committed wife and mother,” Bishop Long said in a statement Friday night. “My love for her is deep and unwavering. It remains our sincere desire to continue working together in seeking God’s will in these circumstances.” Vanessa Long has kept a low profile since the September 2010 lawsuit filed against her husband by former New Birth members Anthony Flagg, Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris and Maurice Robinson alleging the bishop used his influence, trips, gifts and jobs to coerce them into sexual relationships. Though she has never spoken publicly about the allegations, she provided her husband with a symbolic lift when she appeared by his side at New Birth the Sunday after the lawsuit was filed. The bishop,
who told his congregation that day he planned to “vigorously” fight the allegations against him, reached a settlement with his accusers in late May after months of mediation. A bio on New Birth’s website describes Vanessa Long as “the quiet strength in the Long family ... an awesome woman of God in her own right. She is an inspiration to many of the women at New Birth as they watch her lovingly and quietly support her husband in every sense of the word.” This would be Bishop Long’s second divorce. His first wife, Dabara S. Houston, alleged she was the victim of “cruel treatment” and claimed she was afraid of her husband’s “violent and vicious temper,” according to Fulton County Superior Court records. She and her son “had to flee [the couple’s Fairburn home] in order to ensure their safety,” the documents say. The couple was married in 1981 and separated after a couple years, according to the documents. Long’s first wife made the abuse allegation in a counterclaim after he petitioned for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
“Prospering During Hard Times”

ow does this sound to you? I desire and intend to be prosperous and to grow more prosperous every day in every way, now. If you feel comfortable with that thought it will open the door to experiencing that condition for you. We are continuously attracting to us what we are thinking and believing for ourselves. The problem is we switch back and forth from the positive to the negative too much, cancelling our good before it arrives.
Prosperity is the last frontier for many of us. It's an all inclusive word. It includes health, wealth, success and happiness all in one. Each of us can choose to be prosperous. No one can do it for you.

The Hope that Never Fails
ope
by Dr. Christopher White
“If I lift up my eyes to the hills, where shall I find help? Help comes only from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.” ( Psalm 121:1-2)
T
he American Heritage dictionary defines hope as “the feeling that what is desired is also possible, or that events may turn out for the best.” To “give up hope” is to reach the end. To “keep on hoping” means there may yet be a chance, however small, that what is desired will come to pass. How many great men and women heard, “It can’t be done,” and did it. Or, “It’s useless to try,” but tried and succeeded? If Abraham Lincoln had given up after his second business failure, we would have had no such president to guide this nation through a time of terrible tragedy. Or if the firefighters and police had decided that it was too dangerous to try to rescue people from the burning World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001, how many thousands more would have died? If any man in history needed hope, it was David of Israel—the young man who, more than three thousand years ago, wrote many Psalms like the one quoted above. God chose him to be king and sent the prophet Samuel to anoint him while another king, Saul, who had failed God, was still on the throne. David was greeted not by fanfare, but by hatred and intense persecution. He often had to flee for his life before Saul’s men. “My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, ‘Where is thy God?’” (Psalm 42:3) Yet this same man wrote, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The LORD is the refuge of my life; of whom should I go in dread?” (Psalm 27:1) David could rejoice even in terrible times, and he lived through many, because he knew that the One in whom he trusted would never fail. He was realistic and knew exactly what he was up against, but found in God a sufficiency far beyond his own to meet every circumstance. The Psalms were not academic ex-

was more to life than my own little world of experience. Most men and women become so absorbed in day to day affairs that they overlook more important, even eternal issues. If you do that, your world may one day collapse around you, and you will not know what to do. If we do not keep things in perspective, our eyes easily become focused only on the immediate affairs of self. “As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years, yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away.” (Psalm 90:10) Let your eyes be opened, beginning now, to the truths of the Scriptures, eternal truths which circumstances and the passage of time cannot change. “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the time of trouble comes.” (Ecclesiastes 12:1) As the years of your life go by, where will your help come from? Will what you put your trust in never let you down? Is your trust in your own resources and strength rather than in God? He has the answers to the needs and longings of every human heart. The answers are found in His Son, Jesus, who died so that we could live. As the disciple Peter said, “To whom can we go, Lord? You have the message that gives eternal life, and we have come to believe, yes more, we know by experience, that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68) Hope built on the God of Israel “never disappoints us.” (Romans 5:5) “I have been young, and now am old,” King David wrote near the end of his life, “yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25) Copyright © 2003 Christopher
