Artist of the Month Fearless. That one word eloquently captures the creative spirit of groundbreaking duo Mary Mary. Ever since siblings Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell broke through in 2000 with the pioneering crossover hit “Shackles (Praise You),” the chart-topping sister act has never wavered from defying convention to fulfill its mission: sending uplifting messages through music and words that are relatable to everyone. An amazing ten years later, having
earned 3 Grammy Awards, 2 American Music Awards, an NAACP Image Award and a BET Award, the “Mary Mary way” sounds just as fresh and innovative on the duo's sixth album, the aptly titled SOMETHING BIG (My Block/Columbia/Sony Music; March 29, 2011). This vibrant outing, once again produced by longtime collaborator Warryn Campbell, picks up where the group's most recent mainstream success story, 2008's The Sound and its Grammy Award-winning smash hit
MAY/JUNE
MARY MARY
“God in Me,” left off. Paving the way for SOMETHING BIG is the lively lead single “Walking.” After only nine weeks at radio, the single has already marched its way into the top 10 at Urban AC and is steadily growing. In the vein of “God in Me,” Mary Mary's 2009 Auto-Tune-laden R&B/hip-hop crossover hit, “Walking” bounces along with synthesizer-accented, percolating rhythms while delivering its uplifting message. “Some say walking takes too long/I say with walking you can't go wrong/I rock with the greatest,” proclaim Tina and Erica. Like Mary Mary's previous albums, SOMETHING BIG resonates with a fusion of sound (R&B, hip-hop, dance, pop, gospel and jazz) and empowering messages. But unlike earlier efforts, this album also features more collaborations with several talented new writers. A case in point is Jazz Nixon, who crafted the title track. Interpolating the Jackson 5's 1971 hit “Mama's Pearl,” complemented by an edgy bass and drum mix and spirited hand claps, the track puts a contemporary spin on the traditional call and response song. “People ask us all the time whether we're gospel, inspirational or trying to go pop,” says Erica. “Tina and I are artists whose music fits in so many other places. That's always been the leading force behind each of our albums. Knowing who we are, we know each
album can be different from the next.” Born in Inglewood, CA to an evangelist/choir director mother and a youth minister father, sisters Erica and Tina Atkins-and their six other siblingsgrew up singing in church choirs. After a stint studying vocal performance at local El Camino College, Erica and Tina joined the lineup of traveling gospel shows and toured as backup singers for several R&B acts. Three years later, songwriter/producer Warryn Campbell played a pivotal role in the sisters' career, helping them secure a song publishing deal with EMI. Soon thereafter, the pair began accumulating writing and performance credits on soundtracks and through songs recorded by various recording artists. With their platinum-selling, Grammy-winning debut album, Thankful, Mary Mary hit a homerun, due in large part to the broad success of its first single, “Shackles (Praise You),” in 2000. Their sophomore follow-up, Incredible, was released in 2002 and was certified gold, before the group released such hits as “Heaven,” “The Real Party,” and “Yesterday” on their self-titled album, Mary Mary (2005), which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. Their success continued with the release of an acclaimed holiday project, A Mary Mary Christmas, in 2006.
It is Mary Mary's The Sound (2008), however, that sparked Mary Mary's best mainstream success to date, bowing at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the publication's R&B/hiphop chart, as well as garnering numerous awards for the album, and for its record-breaking single “God In Me.” Yet with their tremendous accomplishments, the sisters are quick to point out that they're driven by something far greater--“It's not just about musical achievements, awards, charts and sales,” says Erica. “That's not our guiding light. It's about connecting with people and offering them real hope… hope that, ultimately, changes lives.”
Zachery Tims Death: Fla. Church Denies Paula White Is Interim Pastor Despite recent reports that Paula White has been serving as the interim pastor of Zachery Tims' New Destiny Christian Center (NDCC), a representative at the Florida church denied on Tuesday that the Without Walls International Church pastor was serving in such a capacity. NDCC Minister Samuel Anderson told the Orlando Sentinel over the weekend that White was serving as interim pastor and providing the NDCC congregation advice and spiritual guidance. In an effort to confirm the news, The Christian Post contacted NDCC Tuesday afternoon and an unidentified representative at the church denied the report that Pastor White was the interim pastor of the Apopka megachurch. CP was unable to reach Anderson for a comment.
White is considered a natural choice for NDCC's interim pastor by some due to her close relationship with Tims. White preached at NDCC on Aug. 21, the day after Tims' was buried. "As many of you know, Pastor Zach was my spiritual son and I had known him since I was - I'm 45 years old - and I've known Pastor Zach since I was about 21, 22 years old," White told the NDCC congregation. "We have enjoyed a very fruitful relationship for many, many, many years," White said. The Without Walls International Church minister delivered an uplifting message tailored around Psalm 34:1-3 in her Aug. 21 sermon. NDCC released a video of the sermon on Sept. 11 on the

NDCC held a tribute celebration Sept. 18, where guest Evangelist Rita Womack preached about "Moving Forward" and told the congregation to "celebrate because God has been good to you, God has been merciful to you."

For a man who has declared that he may at any moment cease making music to concentrate fully on his passion for ministering, Donnie McClurkin has never stayed away from recording profoundly uplifting music for the soul for very long. Lynne is a devout Christian who has seen what Jesus can do in the life of a believer. When she was six, Lynne’s parents left everything behind and immigrated to the USA. They literally sacrificed all in this move to bring the family of seven from Venezuela to the USA. As the youngest of five, Lynne took stock of how her mother was able to go from being an elementary school teacher, to work as a maid in the US, raise five children while at the same time attend college to finally receive a degree as a top grade registered nurse. Lynne’s mom proved to be a powerful model of faith and perseverance and the wonderful things that one can do when one opens his or her heart to Jesus. Lynne Clarke is a Contemporary Christian Singer/Songwriter with a gift for verse and melody. She prefers to tell stories through her lyrics that show both practical examples of faith in action and convey the message of the gospel. Though
songwriting came later, music has always played a major role in her life. Lynne began singing in the fourth grade in her elementary school glee club. As an adult she sang in the church choir. She began writing Christian music as an outlet during a difficult period in her life. She initially performed for friends and family. She later played at church and larger community events. She now has a faithful following of supporters and believes that the Lord is calling her to share her music with the whole world. REVIEWS

At a glance … as with the best in folk music, Lynne Clarke's work benefits from simple songwriting that's personable and poignant. With vocals that sound like a cross between Natalie Merchant and Bob Dylan's early muse Joan Baez, Clarke's voice isn't what you typically associate with Christian music. That, along with her strong world-weary delivery, is just part of her charm.

Judgement or Rivaval, Which will it Be
MAY/JUNE
The Judgments of the Lord
The path of the righteous is level; O upright One, you make the way of the righteous smooth. Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:7-9 Reading these verses while praying recently, I realized that they are directly connected to the theme of revival and to the opening of doors for which we have long prayed. We have been asking the Lord for revival in New York City, as well as in our nation. We are asking for revival, not just because it would be marvelous to see God move again with power from on high, but because we desperately need “times of refreshing… from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19) Our country is rapidly wandering away from its Judeo-Christian foundations, the chief source of the many blessings Americans have long enjoyed. Educators among others are rewriting American history as taught in schools and universities, and our children are deprived of a thorough and accurate knowledge of their roots. A nation in which most citizens were once familiar with the Bible is raising generations of children who are ignorant of the most influential book in the development of our society. From all too many professorial lecterns, the call goes out for freedom from religion in a land founded on freedom of religion. Evils of every variety, including perversions and violence that would have been unimaginable a few decades ago are flooding into the culture, the media, and the daily life of our people. Many of us are deeply concerned that judgment cannot be far behind, and may actually have already begun. As Charles H. Spurgeon pointed out, the most fearful judgment of all is not when God sends forceful, visible punishments, but when He quietly slips away and people do not even realize that He is gone! “Then the glory of the Lord departed from over the threshold of the temple…,” and who in Israel realized that the Spirit had left? (Ezekiel 10:18)
A Article in Three Parts by Christopher N. White We who belong to the Lord need to consider prayerfully these verses in Isaiah 26:7-9. We may think that, though our nation is slipping away, we believers are doing just fine. At least we will escape judgment! Like the survivors safely ensconced in the Titanic’s lifeboats, we are so happy to be dry and safe that we are unwilling to risk going back to rescue those who are still drowning in the icy Atlantic. Like godly King Hezekiah, we respond to God’s warning of coming judgment by consciously or unconsciously saying in our hearts, “The word of the Lord you have spoken is good…There will be peace and security in my lifetime.” (Isaiah 39:8) Meanwhile, we forget that judgment is a dreadful thing, not to be wished on anyone, no matter how evil they are. When judgment comes, multitudes of souls are swept away without remedy into dark eternity, souls who might have been rescued had we really cared. Oh, that we had a heart like the good shepherd whom Jesus spoke of in Matthew’s gospel! He willingly left the ninety-nine sheep that were safe, and traversed wilderness and desert to rescue one lost, bedraggled animal. “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.” (Matt 18:11, NKJV) Or as Peter said of our Lord, “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
The Righteousness of the Saints
The path of the righteous is level; O upright One, you make the way of the righteous smooth. Isaiah 26:7 Please note that, as this passage declares, it is God who makes the way of righteous level and smooth. None of us will ever stand before a holy God by our own efforts or religious merit. Let us not boast therefore about how much better we are than those poor, lost sinners all around us. Are we any more deserving of the grace of God than they are? We stand in right relationship with God only by the continual working of the grace of God—as we die daily to our old selves and our old lives. No human righteousness will stand in the judgment day, only the righteousness
we receive from Jesus Christ. In Spurgeon’s words, “All true religion is the work of God…It is a sin of the greatest magnitude to suppose that there is aught in the heart which can be acceptable unto God, save that which God himself has first created there.” (Spurgeon, Spiritual Revival the Want of the Church) The New King James Version translates verse 7 with a fascinating difference: “The way of the just is uprightness; O Most Upright, You weigh the path of the just.” In this translation, verse 7 seems to contradict itself because it states that the way of the just is upright, but then declares, “You weigh the path of the just.” The righteous may think that they are fine, that there is nothing more that needs to be done in their lives. It is those sinners out there in the world who need to change! But the Bible reveals that revival begins in the house of God, and that judgment begins in the house of God, also. The righteous are the very ones whose ways God weighs! God looks at the paths of His people, and searches out what is in their hearts. Remember that the Father is seeking a Bride for His Son who will be a “radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” (Ephesians 5:27-28) That is a high calling indeed! God was searching the heart of King Hezekiah when the Babylonian emissaries came to view all his treasures, and this godly man failed the test. How tragic were the consequences for his descendants, in whose time all those treasures that Hezekiah was so proud of were carried off to Babylon! In one way or another, he failed to fully appreciate the greatest treasure of all—his relationship with the Living God. He also failed to pass on that treasure to his children, to their fearful loss. His son, Manasseh, was the most wicked king Judah ever had, committing more sins and atrocities than the Canaanites whom Israel had replaced. (2 Kings 21:11) Yes, we are our brother’s and our children’s keepers! We will either leave a heritage that blesses or deprives those who come after us. Many of us in this nation are deeply concerned about the heritage being left for our descendants. We are genuinely
seeking God for revival in this generation, realizing the great need of our own hearts and of those all around us. Like Isaiah, we plead with the Lord, “Awake, awake! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old.” (Isaiah 51:9) We are standing and waiting in front of a door, knocking and asking God to open it, pleading with Him to show His power in our time. We pray as Habakkuk did, “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.” (Habakkuk 3:2) But here comes the hard part! While we are knocking, God is searching our hearts.
The Necessity of Waiting
When God has given us a promise, a desire, or a burden, and we are not seeing it fulfilled, we are tempted to stop standing in front of that door. It is all too simple to say, “This is silly! I am going to try to find my own way here,” and some believers do. But if a door truly is of God, it is critical that we wait. It is imperative that we persist, so that God can work in our hearts to make us ready in His good time to go through that door. Where is it that we are not yet ready? God wants to move, but can He move in us? Let us look at the second part of this passage: Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. Isaiah 26:8 Please note that, when believers live as they should, “Yes, LORD, walk-

uring the Billy Graham Crusade in Madison Square in 1957 they sang a famous song called “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” The first stanza of this sang went like this: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace. -That is the best definition of revival that I know. Heaven with its glory and grace invades our human condition, and in the light of God’s Glory the allure of the world with its pleasures and material possessions loses its hold on us while our hearts are truly satisfied with the presence of God. As we draw closer to God, the sin in our lives, which we first accepted as normal, becomes distasteful, and
then loathsome. In revival, God first refines and purifies His people, then He fills them with his power, then he places in their hearts, His love and compassion, for those who are lost without God and without hope in the world. In revival, Christian people are not trying to work up courage to testify about a historical figure they learned from the Bible, they radiate the knowledge of the one whose power is continually filling their lives. Revival normally begins among God’s people, but soon it spreads and affects society. The power of God is so strong that prostitutes, drug addicts, alcoholics and those addicted to gambling, pornography and lust are set free and gloriously converted. In China during the Boxer Rebellion, missionaries huddled together to pray for God’s intervention before an angry mob rushed their
building to kill them. Later, when they inquire why the mob had suddenly slunk away in fear, they were told. “Your building was surrounded by flaming warriors with raised swords.” Yes, in true revivals angels visit, young men see visions, and old men dream dreams. In true revivals. God’s people are equipped with gifts of the Holy Spirit and witness boldly about the wonderful works of the Lord Jesus. During the past century in the United States, the term “revival” has normally menat a church-sponsored evangelistic meeting during which a visiting pastor or traveling evangelist will speak at special services for a week or two, and those in attendance are asked either to make a first-time decision for Christ or to rededicate their lives to Him. Although this type of meeting can indeed bring once true Holy Spirit revival that can serve to transform society, usually its measure is very simply the number of people whose lives are changed by responding to the evangelists’ appeals. The Revival that America is crying for does not consist of good or even inspired evangelism. The revival we pray for transforms lives, em-

3 Money Tips for Every Income
Financial advice should be tailored to income level, from families below the poverty line to earners in the upper 20%. These tips offer a good place to start for any household. Low income: Below $20,000 The official poverty line for a family of four is just under $22,000. Even if you don't consider yourself poor, you don't have a lot of financial wiggle room at the bottom of the income ladder. So here's what's most important: o Save $500. Forget, for now, all the advice about saving three to six months' worth of expenses. That's a worthy "someday" goal, but you just need to save a few hundred bucks to start getting ahead. Having $500 set aside can help you cover minor emergencies and avoid payday lenders and bounced-transaction fees. (Consider a credit union instead of a bank. The fees tend to be less, which is important when every dollar counts.) o Get a break. If you earn income from a job or business, make sure you file a tax return and claim the earned income tax credit. This refundable credit, which is designed to help lowto moderate-income individuals and families, can put hundreds or even thousands of dollars in your pocket. Yet the Internal Revenue Service estimates one-fifth of taxpayers who qualify for this credit don't claim it. Another overlooked credit is the Savers Credit for low- to moderate-income workers. If you can put even a few bucks a year into a retirement account, you can get a tax credit for those contributions on top of being able to deduct them from your taxable income. o Avoid businesses that will rip you off. Some types of businesses will charge you outrageous amounts of money because you're poor and may not have access to mainstream credit. These include payday lenders, rent-toown outfits and buy-here-pay-here car lots. If you want to hang on to the little money you have, you need to steer clear. Lower middle income: $20,000 to $40,000 Review the tips for those earning under $20,000, since they probably apply to you as well. Then consider the following advice to help you get by: Limit your overhead. If you want to have money enough to pay off debt, save for the future and still have a little fun today, it's important to limit your overhead. Keeping your "must-have" expenses -- the costs for shelter, transportation, food, insurance and minimum loan payments -- to 50% of your
after-tax income isn't easy, but doing so can ensure you have money left over for other goals. Save for retirement. Social Security may not be available by the time most people retire due funding issues for Baby Boomers retirements. You'll want to put something aside to prevent a big drop in income once you quit work. Take advantage of any available workplace retirement plans. If you don't have a plan at work, open an individual retirement account at a discount brokerage or mutual fund, and set up automatic transfers to fund it. o Set up savings buckets. Consider setting up separate savings accounts for irregular and nonmonthly expenses -- car repairs, holidays, vacations, property taxes, insurance payments. Online banks make this easy, since they typically don't have account minimums or monthly fees. You can set up automatic transfers so money is funneled into each account every payday. That way, the cash to cover bigger and unexpected expenses is there when you need it. Middle income: $40,000 to $60,000 You're smack in the middle of U.S. incomes, but the tips that apply to the folks in the $20,000 to $40,000 bracket also apply to you. Here are the additional steps you need to take: - Nuke your credit card debt. The percentage of households with credit card debt really starts to climb as income rises. More than half (54.9%) of middle-income households had credit card debt, according to the Federal Reserve's latest Survey of Consumer Finances, compared with 25.7% in the lowest quintile of income and 39.4% of those in the second-lowest quintile. Use cash to purchase items of little or no current value, get in the habit of paying off your credit cards in full every month to l save yourself a ton of money and help you reduce your risk of bankruptcy. - Step up your retirement savings. You should be getting your full company 401k match, if a match is offered. Keep boosting your retirement contributions by 1% a year until you're saving at least 10% of your income (15% is even better). The more you save, the more options you'll have. - Boost your emergency fund. Once you're on track for retirement and your credit card debt is paid off, start funneling the money
you once dedicated to debt into your emergency savings account. Accumulating an emergency fund equal to three months' worth of expenses could take you a few years, but that cash can help you sleep better at night. Upper middle income: $60,000 to $100,000 In high-cost areas, your income may not feel lavish, but you're now earning more than 60% of your fellow Americans. With higher incomes come new challenges, so follow the tips for middle-income earners and consider the following new ones: Add a Roth IRA. Most people will be in a lower tax bracket in retirement, so it makes sense for them to grab tax breaks now by making deductible contributions to 401k's and other retirement plans. If you have a decent income and are a good saver, though, when you retire you could be in the same or even a higher tax bracket. In that case, it may make sense to contribute to a Roth independent retirement account in addition to funding a 401k. Contributions to Roth IRAs aren't deductible, but withdrawals in retirement are tax-free. Your future tax bracket is tough to predict, but if you're young and earning a good income or you expect higher tax rates down the road, contributing to a Roth now can pay off. If it turns out you don't need the extra money for retirement -- a big if -- you could use it to pay your kids' college expenses or leave tax-free money for your heirs. Pay cash for luxuries. Your access to credit usually expands as your income rises, which means it's easier to overdose on debt. Try not to borrow money for anything that will decline in value, and save up to pay cash for luxuries such as vacations, new cars and home improvements. Save for college. A college education will be increasingly important if you want your kids to succeed financially. You may qualify for some financial aid, but don't expect much in the way of "free" money; you're more likely to get loans than grants. Every dollar you can save for their future education can spare them a dollar or more in debt." Also utilize a 529 saving plan Upper income: Above $100,000 Boost your liability coverage. A sixfigure income can make you more of a lawsuit target, so max out your liability coverage on your auto and homeowners or renters policies. If your net worth exceeds those liability limits, consider adding an umbrella or personal liability policy that can offer even more protection. A $1 million policy typically

costs between $300 and $400 a year. Hire a tax pro. Getting tax help can make sense at any income level if you own a business or have a lot of investments outside of retirement accounts. Once you're in a higher tax bracket, it can make sense to have someone who can not only file your returns but also help you plan to reduce your taxes and answer any taxrelated questions you might have. Talk to a fee-only financial planner. A session with a financial planner (one who is compensated only by the fees you pay, rather than by commissions on financial investments he or she sells) can be a good idea for anyone. But good advice doesn't come cheap, which is why many lower-income folks opt for a do-it-yourself approach. At this income level, you should make the investment in someone who can help you make sure you're on track for retirement, college savings and other goals. Expect to pay a few hundred bucks for a portfolio review and $2,000 or more for a complete financial plan.

art of the beauty of nearby New England is the many old stone walls that grace the land. I don’t know what it is that makes them so lovely and charming, for they are made up of just rocks, really. But, they’re often rocks that have been weathered and smoothed by time and covered with moss and lichen. Some are uniform in their structure; others uneven, almost haphazardly thrown together. All of them were originally built, I imagine, as boundaries which delineated one person’s land from another or one field from another, or as some kind of protection depending on their height. Today, people often try to replicate an old stone wall as enhancement for their gardens because of the beauty of texture and color found in, particularly, river stones. Stone walls then can be good and useful structures. But they also can be unwanted roadblocks, literally and figuratively, to where we need to go. Sometimes the building of that wall of protection or

Know Who You Are And Whose You Are
When Daniel and his friends were taken captives in Babylon, they survived the hardship and persecution because they knew who they were and whose they were. For this reason, when the King assigned them daily amount of food and wine from his table, they refused to partake so as not to defile themselves or bring dishonor to God. As a result, at the end of the ten days of eating vegetable and water –a request made by Daniel who seemed to have a clear understanding of who he was and whose he was- appeared healthier and better nourished than the young men who ate from the Kings table. But not only were they healthier and better nourished, God gave them increased knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. Knowing who you are and whose you are will determine to a large extent the choices you make in life. Your choices will not be determined by the under-nourished environment that you may be a part of, but rather with a clear understand-
ing of your special abilities and talents. This knowledge will propel you to make choices that are aimed at success rather than failure. And although failure may come it will not be blamed on anyone or anything but will be used as a stepping stone to greater achievements. You will succeed at what you set out to achieve. Only with an understanding of your uniqueness, that is, knowing who you are and whose you are, will you be able to accept others for who they are. You will know that others are just as important to society as you are. You will know
that it is a waste of time trying to be who you are not. You will know that others will be better at some things than you are because of their uniqueness. How you feel about yourself is a result of how you perceive yourself and will determine the people you associate with. Somebody says, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.” If you associate with people who see themselves as losers then eventually you will think yourself a loser and “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Since you are your thoughts you cannot go beyond the level of your thoughts. Research shows that women who were abused as children will most times end up with abusive hus-
bands as a result of their thought process. Knowing who you are and whose you are will signal you when enough is enough. You are God’s creation and he took pleasure in creating you the way you are. Therefore, love yourself for all the good you see and accept that you are imperfect. Trust in your ability to make things happen; forgive yourself as your father in heaven has forgiven you. Embrace yourself, love your God and continue to work at being the best you can ever be.

I have begun to exercise in earnest, and, of course my appetite has increased with this activity. What does this means for me? Sweets have become more tempting. I am eating between meals, and I stay up later because I am eating late – all the habits I discourage in my clients (I am now a traitor who just had a pizza!). Yes, my taste buds have taken over. Truth is, I am struggling - no I am not – am I? - to find a good balance. I know I can get back on track, but because I know this, I am taking my sweet time to stop eating what and how I do not normally eat. I also know that if I do not nip it in the bud (pardon the pun), I may not stop. Can you feel the distress I am going through? The sweet agony? Oh my brain! But while allowing our taste to overwhelm our better judgment to eat better, our physical brain also, can take a hit. I am going to give you some scientific facts, but will keep it simple for you to make the connection – the ultimate goal for you to change your eating behavior, hence improve your health. Glucose is the form of sugar that travels in your bloodstream to fuel your brain. It is the only fuel normally used by brain cells. These cells cannot store glucose, so they depend on the bloodstream to deliver a constant supply of this (glucose) fuel to
the brain. This blood sugar is obtained from carbohydrates: the starches and sugars you eat in the form of grains and legumes, fruits and vegetables. (Meat has no carbohydrate). Too Much Blood Sugar – Too Little Brain Sugar Too much sugar or refined, simple carbohydrates (white rice, potato without the skin, white flour or pasta products, sugary foods) at one time, however, can actually deprive your brain of glucose – depleting its energy supply and compromising your brain's power to concentrate, remember and learn. A sugary snack or soft drink quickly raises your blood sugar level, and your pancreas starts to secrete insulin. Insulin triggers cells throughout your body to pull the excess glucose out of your bloodstream and store it for later use. Soon, the glucose available to your brain drops. Hours later, you feel spaced-out, weak, confused, and/ or nervous. Your ability to focus and think suffers. Repeatedly overloading the bloodstream with sugar can diminish the body's ability to respond to insulin, and type 2 diabetes may develop. Studies show that people with type 2 diabetes are more likely to suffer a decline in mental ability as they age, due to a narrowing of the arteries that can lead to tiny strokes and gradual brain damage.
Complex carbohydrates (whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, vegetables) are like time-release capsules of sugar. They have long chains of sugar molecules that the liver gradually breaks down into the shorter glucose molecules the brain uses for fuel. In natural foods, the cell walls are made of cellulose fiber that resists digestion, slowing the breakdown and the subsequent release of sugars into the bloodstream. These are the foods you want to eat more of. Several studies show that healthier diets, such as those that include whole grains, seeds, fish, berries, leafy green vegetables, olive oil, avocados, and nuts, are associated with reduced mental health symptoms, and unhealthy diets (processed foods, high-fat dairy foods and fried, refined, and sugary foods) with increased mental health symptoms over time. Eat with your brain. Be cool.

Are you tech savvy? Is someone within your organization tech savvy? Have you noticed how social media is becoming more and more the norm for communicating? Did you know that digital campaigns are increasingly becoming more popular? One way to get noticed is by us-
ing email. Email is working well for fundraising and advocacy campaigns and might be worth your effort if the campaign is well thought out. Another option is to learn from the experiences, both good and bad, of your peers working on social media projects in the non-profit space. Thirdly, you should consider linking your social media projects directly

Family of Christ Church of God Spring Revival T
Bishop Michael A. Frith
he 2012 Spring Revival Conference entitled Revive my Spirit has no doubtedly revived the spirit of those who attended. The conference took place at the Family of Christ Church of God headquarters located at 1448 Ferris Place in the Bronx NY, where Bishop Dr Michael A. Frith is pastor, founder and overseer. Being persuaded to this cause the devoted Bishop in Excellency of the gospel invited the spiritual warrior international Evangelist Bishop Dr Orville Smith, from Jamaica, for this occasion. It was two full weeks of Holy Ghost fire inside the territorial grounds of the sanctuary where the saved and unsaved encamped night after night to hear the word. Many souls were saved, spiritual fervour was revived and lives were blessed as Dr. Orville pulled down strong-holds of the devil through the Word of God. Even though Bishop Orville Smith AKA Manadust is famously known for bringing across his sermon with jokes and laughter, this Evangelist is a well-packed Holy-Ghost-filled-messenger-ona-mission-to-save souls who does not take his task lightly. On entering the podium on the twelve night of the conference Dr Orville took his sermon from the book of the Bible Matthew chapter: 6 v 9. The title of his message was The Greatest Weapon of the Righteous. His message was very clear, simple and straight to the point as he particularly emphasized the power of prayer as the weapon of believers, he said prayer is one aspect of the christian lives that has suffered neglect in the body of Christ.
He pointed out that many are asking where are the miracle but refuse to acknowledge that prayer is missing, not miracles. Many Christians have become too commercialized he said, spending more time on developing issues and less time praying. He went on to encourage the church to get back to prayer and expounded on the story of the Bible where the church was praying while Peter was in prison and the victory prayer brought them. Bishop told the people that a child of God doesn't have to beg from God, all they need to do he said is ask God. A praying child of God cannot be stopped, he added. Prayer can shut the mouth of lions and stop demons in mid-air. Prayer changes all things; we must pray without ceasing; “It worked yesterday, it is working today. It will work tomorrow- what we need is prayer. By the end of the sermon hands were already lifted to receive Christ. But Dr. Orville Smith-Manadust never left without telling his own story jokingly of what prayer has done for him. He testified of a woman crippled for two years being healed through him even though she was possessed with many demons, so many that his deacon ran leaving him. Yet his prayer prevailed. In closing Bishop Michael A Frith was called upon along with his team of ministers to pray for those who came forward for prayer while minister Judith Gayle, Gospel performing artist from Jamaica, was called back to minister in song. by: Veronica Thawney

A PRAYER FOR MINISTERING SERVANTS
by Rev. Linus Baptiste,
F
ather, How we praise you and thank you for your word, knowing that you watch over your word to perform it, and no word of yours returns void, but accomplishes that which you please and it prospers in the thing for which you sent it. Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray and believe that those in your Body who have sown the seed of spiritual good among the people reap form the people's material benefits,
for you directed that those who publish the good news of The Gospel should live and get their maintenance by The Gospel. The people's gifts are the fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which you, Father, welcome and in which you delight. You will liberally supply fill to the fall, the people's every need according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Father it is your will that those who receive instruction in the Word of God share all good things with their teachers contributing to their support. We confess that your will not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, For in due time and at the appointed season they shall reap, if they do not loosen and relax their courage and faint.
So then, as occasion and opportunity are open to the people they do good to all people not only being useful and profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage. We pray that your people will be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith - those who belong to God's Family. Help us to remember that whoever sows generously will also reap generously. God, You are then able to make all grace, every favor and earthly blessing, come to your people in abundance, so that they are always and under all circumstances possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation. As your people give, their deeds of justice and goodness and kindness
and benevolence go on and endure forever. God, You provide the seed for the sower and bread for the eating , so You also will provide and multiply the people's resources for sowing and increasing the fruits of their righteousness. Thus, your people are enriched in all things and in every way do that they can be generous, and their generosity as it is administered by your teachers, will bring Thanksgiving to God. As it is written, "Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken togther and running over, shall men give into your bosom." (Luke 6:38) Praise the Lord, The Lord's blessings is everlasting forever. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

GOSPEL CELEBRATION 1240 AM WGBB CONCERT On March 31st, 2012, one of the most popular gospel music programs on Long Island’s radio station 1240 AM WGBB celebrated their 11th year anniversary. WGBB has been serving the community since 1924 and has multicultural programming broadcast throughout the week. “Gospel Celebration: Your Life Changing Gospel Radio Ministry & Your One Stop” is hosted by both A.C.E. & Preacherman. They have been bringing the vast listening audience the very best in gospel music and highlight independent and local artists on their program which can be heard five days a week at various times. Their program is also simulcast on the internet on www.gospelcelebration1240.com This celebration was held at One Way Church of Christ in Queens, New York, where Bishop Gregory Tucker is the pastor and host of GT Ministries every Saturday morning at 7:30am. Dr. Manuel Demetrius, host of Word of Light, which can be heard every Monday morning at 12:15am also attended. There were artists from near and far that came to minister in song and dance on that night. Nu Purpose, winners of the 2011 Gospel Choice Awards, traveled from Morrow, Georgia to be a part of the celebration. They brought their passion for ministry and declared that no matter what you go through, you must “Bring it” to the Lord because he can keep you from “Fallin”. Brooklyn’s popular group Laos in Harmony gave a grand “Introduction” for those who did not know a man named Jesus. They encouraged everyone to say “Hello”. Rell Holland and Experience
brought the great expectation of a “Miracle” and a great move of God. That expectation was far exceeded by the power of the Lord that saturated the packed church of approximately 200 supporters. B. Renee brought the audience to their feet as she ushered them “In his Presence” and reminded them “He’ll Make It Alright”. Bishop J.D. Burrus, Pastor of Hightime Temple of Praise Church in Staten Island, gave a soul-stirring testimony about being in prison that touched the lives of all who heard. Voices of Joy, KG Mime, Crystal Graham, D.R.C. Praise Dancers, Ladies of Zion, The Faith Place Praise Singers, One Way Dancers and One Way Praise Singers all gave glory to God. Each ministry honored God with their gifts to the fullest. Both A.C.E. & Preacherman have a genuine love for ministry. Preacherman, whose name is Trevor Vassell, founded the program in 2001. He was originally the sole host of Gospel Celebration, and started with only one hour of programming on Saturdays. His faithfulness paved the way to an expansion of his hours to a full night of gospel music. He has been broadcasting every Friday night from 12 midnight to 9 am for about 9 years. His dedication to excellence and his willingness to learn more, as he hosted under James Hodge of “Gospel All Night Thru the Morning”, gave him an opportunity to become the assistant program director and assistant station manager of WGBB under the leadership of Jeff Lo. He is currently engineering various programs on WGBB, in addition to co-hosting his own pro-

gram with A.C.E. every week. Two years ago, as Preacherman continued to spread the word of God, he invited A.C.E. to co-host with him. After reluctantly accepting the invitation, she began to make changes, which quickly promoted her to program and music director. As a result, Gospel Celebration has grown and expanded tremendously. There is an interactive website: www.gospelcelebration1240.com. There is a presence on Facebook: gospelcelebration1240, on Twitter: gospel1240, on Youtube: gospelcelebrationtv and on Livestream: gospelcelebration1240, just to name a few of the things that A.C.E. has done to help make this one of the fastest growing gospel radio programs in NY. The annual concert, which started last year, has been a blessing to both the listeners and artists. “We try to
bring the new music first “says Preacherman. “Gospel Celebration wants to encourage, inspire, and uplift all listeners so they can be a living testimony for the Lord. Reminding them of his promises and giving an opportunity for those who do not know the Lord as their personal Savior to surrender their life to him and receive salvation. We want you to make this your one stop because it is your life changing gospel radio ministry”, says A.C.E. To show his deep appreciation for all the hard work & effort she has diligently brought to the table to enhance the program’s visibility, Preacherman, along with Elder Richard Merrion, who comes on every Monday morning at 1 am, surprised A.C.E. with a plaque on that night as well. Be sure to check the website for all the latest happenings with A.C.E. & Preacherman on www.gospelcelebration1240.com.

David stopped Goliath of Gath You can too Every man there is has got at least a goliath to confront in life, however, the goliath that David stopped in the bible was in a human form, he was a strongman, just as the pharaoh that Moses delivered the children of Israel from was also human and even these days we still have the spirit of pharaoh very present with us. The goliath is still very much around with us today but spiritually and in the form of stubborn problems that defies solutions, problems that people have to learn to manage rather than casting it away just like Goliath ignored King Saul and would not even regard his position in Israel until David came up on the scene I read a book several years ago titled “pray more and talk less”, the author of the book who also is an intercessor, said a pastor came to him and asked him to lay his hands upon him for an impartation of anointing, then he invited the pastor to pray with him on days when he stays alone in God’s presence, according to him, by the time the pastor came and they began to pray, they were still thanking God and not even doing any serious prayers yet when the pastor began to yawn and before you know it he was snoring. No man defeats goliath that way, If don’t stop your goliath he is definitely going to stop you because somebody must be stopped The goliaths of our contemporary times are the problems that have defied solution, they are problems that won’t go away on their own except somebody gets up and says enough is enough, they are problems that run through the blood line from generations to generations, and they are problems that have no regard for your title or position, they are problems that shaped history in the family They are problems that some people don’t want to talk about, they are problems that make people out there believers or unbelievers to begin to doubt if you truly are a child of God, they are problems that make people think you must have committed a sin and that’s why your own case is so complicated like the man the bible tells us was born blind and the disciples asked Jesus who

had sinned that this man was born blind? his father or the mother? The goliaths that some people have to confront are so huge like a mountain and bigger than the goliath David killed, some people their own goliath has boomeranged for centuries not just 40days that we read in the bible, somebody that is on the Lord’s side needs to rise up and say enough is enough. Let me ask you a question. That situation in your family that has wreaked havoc through the centuries when are you going to say to it enough is enough like David? What makes you feel you can’t conquer the goliath? Oh! May be they have even told you to find a way to manage it because it runs in the family, I need to tell you this; history is subject to change, there’s what we call acidic poverty it was in the DNA of everyone in Jabez family and it throve for generations until he got up and said enough is enough. Yes you can change your family history too; you can stop that negative trend whenever you are ready. Early this year in Jan 21st I read an unfortunate story of a man and his two kids, a 1o yrs. old daughter and a boy, they were searching for turtles near a river in Indonesia when suddenly a crocodile came out of the deep murky water and grabbed the little girl and pulled her in. The man watched this predator
back and forth in Israel and nobody could stop him until David showed up and even then King Saul whose duty it was to stop goliath was trying to discourage him, He said to him you are a little boy you can’t fight goliath, for he has been a warrior from his youth. What negative history is running in your family? You can stop it whatever it is Do people die young in your family? It is stoppable; do you have a history that every male child in your family goes to jail in their teens? Is it possible to stop it? Yes whenever you’re ready. Even in your own personal life if you find out that you struggle too hard but don’t have nothing to show for it you can stop it if you want, Isaac said to his son Esau when you decide to be free you will break his yoke off your neck Psalm 8 v 2 says “Out of the mouth of babes and Suckling hath thou ordained strength because of thine enemies that thou mightiest still the enemy and the avenger. If you find out that a particular curse is running in your family you can break it and set a new platform for yourself and the next generation all you have to do first and foremost is repent of your sins, seek forgiveness and be serious with God and live right and ask for the anointing that breaks every yoke and the curse will be broken, sins and unbelief are things that keep people bound in
drag his own daughter into the water helplessly; the only thing that was left of this girl by the time help came was some torn pieces of her dresses The devil that sneaks into your home and is looking to pull your kids away to ruin their life, won’t you just rise in the power of the might of God and stop him? There is no better time to stop him than now Some of these kids out there in the grip of the enemies you can still redeem them, David had to go after the bear and rescued the sheep from his jaw. The enemy came and deceived the prodigal son and took him away for a while but the father would not give up on him but prayed for him to return, I could imagine the father saying my prodigal son return in the name of Jesus! And you know what? The bible says “And when he came to himself he said how many servants of my father had more than enough and I am here suffering I will arise and I will return to my father”. Remember his father had prayed saying my son return. And the prodigal son says “And I will return to my father” Luke 15 v 17-18 Every negative family history that sometimes we are not ashamed to tell people, oh! you know what? It runs in my family. You can stop it, continues on Page 35 for forty days goliath was boasting

evival isn’t just for church. It is for every area of our lives; your drive for your career occasionally needs a revival. So does your relationship with your spouse, your marriage. It is time for a Revival Of Love in your Marriage and your home. Where does a Revival begin? A revival begins from within the man and woman.
A Revival In Your Marriage
Men need to take some time to find the place of his woman’s passion, and she needs to find his place of passion. Every woman has a place that when found, guarantees her passion and fulfillment. A woman’s special place is in her heart. It is there her every spark to life flashes like a light bulb. If you really want to make your wife sing, reach her heart. Likewise a man needs to be stroked from within. Unfortunately he does not know how to ask to be loved and understood. Sometimes he doesn’t even know what is missing, so instead of communicating his needs, he medicates the problem rather than healing the cause. What he really needs is to relax in her arms; a wife needs to allow her husband to rest, and make him feel comfortable doing
continued from Page 29 fear and make them unable to confront their goliaths, as a matter of fact sin or ungodly lifestyles could be your own goliath that must fall Stop believing every lies that Satan tells you in the name of prophecies especially if it is evil instead rebel against it. A woman called me 1st Jan last year and said a seer had told her husband would kick her out in the month of March the same year. When I asked and you believed it? She said yes Pastor because the man is very powerful I said to her if you believe it then expect it to happen but if you ‘ll reject and cancel it on your knees, it won’t happen. What makes their prophecies to come to pass is when you embrace it, I said to her from that same month of March your husband will begin to love and treat you like a wife. A month after when the false prophecy was supposed to have manifested in April I called her and asked has your husband thrown you out? She smiled and said no pastor. Has the enemy or a false prophet said to you that you will never marry or get a job or have a child? And

it. He needs to feel he can trust her and let down his guard. Love is not a monologue, it is a dialogue between two people who do not know what the response of the other will be. Marriage is not for heaven, it was created for earth. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer”. PS 19:14 Your mouth is designed to speak blessings, peace to storms and life to dead things that arise against you. When you are in love, you speak words filled with honey of your thoughts and the wine of your affections. When you speak , the sound of your voice should stir passion in your mate and not be associated with pain and chaos. A woman voice should be a familiar sound that brings life and light, not darkness. When she speaks, she should call her husband back from a state of depression or despair. You have the power; use it for good…. Men appreciate a woman who is full of kind words.
David stopped Goliath of Gath what is your response? Have they said you will die in your poverty or repeated disappointment? Then what are you doing to break the jinx? Or you want God to come down and kill the enemies for you? Isaac said to Esau when you decide to be free you’ll break his yoke off your neck he didn’t say he will kill Jacob, you may not be able to kill your enemies but you can break their yokes of your neck. Ask for the anointing that breaks every yoke, have faith in God, A faith of just the size of a mustard seed is enough, change your confessions, stop speaking negative words upon your own life and rebel against every evil words that men speak into your life. Command them to go back to sender. When you stop the Goliath in your life people everywhere will celebrate you, when David killed Goliath the women rejoiced and celebrated him all over the country, when you succeed in stopping what has hindered others for decades from moving forward, even your enemies will congratulate you. The day Mr. Barak Obama was installed
as the first black President of United States people everywhere from Africa to Europe and from Asia to Middle East all rejoiced with him. Beloved the world is waiting for your earnest manifestation stop whining and complaining and get to work, Prayer is a serious work, it has no alternative, you can’t go around it, Jabez languished for years doing something else when he should be praying; his life remained miserable until he began to pray ”oh that thou bless me indeed…” I want you to simply pray with aggression the following prayers 1. I cross every ancestral boundary that has stopped many in my family from reaching their goals in the name of Jesus 2. I defeat with the help of the Holy Spirit every goliath standing in the way of my Destiny in the name of Jesus 3. Every negative word spoken into my life out of envy and jealousy by any man or woman backfire in the name of Jesus 4. Any power keeping me at the back of the line lose your hold upon
my life in the name of Jesus 5. Anointing that excels where others fail fall upon me now in the name of Jesus 6. Anointing that attracts the right people fall upon me in the name of Jesus. God bless you if you have prayed those prayers You can always join our YOKE breaking conference prayer line every Saturday from 8:00am -10:00am where the Lord is setting the captives free and restoring destinies. Continued from Page 8 ing in the way of your laws,” the result is not a flurry of activity, but a waiting on God. Every season of revival in history began with, “we wait for you.” Every major revival has been preceded by prayer, intercession, and waiting on God until He comes in convicting power! Many of us are asking the Lord to open a door for revival in the city of New York, and in this nation. We stand waiting in front of that door, knocking and asking God to open it—and there discover an inconvenient truth about ourselves. Our fallen human nature does not like to wait! In this, we are very much like the Lord’s disciple, Peter. He had been with Jesus and had seen the miracles, the crowds, and saw God move in power. He also saw Jesus die, and even rise from the dead! The period after the resurrection must have seemed like an anti-climax, nothing is happening! He may have felt that the best was past, it
Judgement or Revival was all just history. So what does this impatient fisherman do? He says to his fellow disciples, “I go a-fishing!” Oh, how tempted we are to go and do the familiar things. Our flesh is willing to do anything, but wait on God. At the risk of repeating myself, if a door is of God, it is important that we wait! We must persist in faith because, while we are waiting, God is working in our lives to make us ready to go through the door. Consider if He were to open the door earlier, but we were not ready to enter? What then? What was Peter’s great need? He had repented after his betrayal of the Lord, and had been restored to his place
as a disciple. Yet Jesus said to His disciples in Luke 24:49 (NKJV) “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” Peter needed to be filled with the Spirit of God before he could become the apostle that God intended him to be. We too need the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, if we are to see revival in our day. When Jesus spoke of the work of the Holy Spirit, He said, And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Fa-

ther and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. (John 16:8-11, NKJV) When the Holy Spirit moves in reviving power, the people of God’s house are the first to come under deep conviction of sin. Layers of pride, self-righteousness, and deception are stripped away, and the souls of men and women are laid bare before Almighty God. In Spurgeon’s words, “We too often flog the church, when the whip should be laid on our own shoulders… Let us, therefore, commence with ourselves, remembering that we are part of the church, and that our own want of revival is in some measure the cause of that want in the church at large.” In our next issue: Part 2 "The Holiness of God’s Name"

Firefighters responded to a four-alarm blaze on Tuesday night at Tyler Perry’s Atlanta studio. The cause of the fire is not currently known. our editor recommends Tyler Perry's Racial Profiling Claim Being Investigated By Atlanta Police The Atlanta Police Department tells The Hollywood Reporter that there are no reported injuries or deaths at this time. According to the local Fox News affiliate, fire officials say that there was a partial collapse to one or two buildings. It is not yet known which area the fire is located. Perry was reportedly on the scene looking at the damage done to the studio. Eyewitnesses said that they could see the fire from a distance, with some indicating that they thought it was part of a film production. According to the studio's website, the 200,000 squarefoot facility includes five sound stages and a 400-seat theater. It is located in southwest Atlanta. A representative for Perry did not immediately return THR’s request for comment.

7 Ways to Revival in New York City Continued from Page 11 entire population. What then are the seven steps to revival? God gave the formula to Solomon, King of Israel, about 960 B.C. God said, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV). The First Step to Revival is Humility. The first sin ever recorded was pride. Satan declared, “I will exalt my throne above the stars of God” (Isaiah 14:13b, KJV). Humility is the reverse of pride. The focus of pride is what “I will” do, my way, my will, my plan, my concept of God, my concept of righteousness. Just like Satan at the beginning, we want to exalt our throne. God says a certain action; we disagree.
We justify ourselves. We point to our friends who do it. Everyone in society accepts this conduct-how unfair of God to criticize it. A line in a popular song goes “How could a love be wrong that feels so right?” Why could something that we enjoy so much be wrong? “If she is unhappy with her husband, what is wrong about breaking up her marriage so she can be happy with someone else?” My neighbor tries to hurt my dog. What is wrong with putting a few dents in his car in return? Then there is pride of family, pride of finance and accomplishment, pride of nationality, pride of religious affiliation, and pride of knowledge and education. Before God, we are all alike, weak sinners. We must realize that our pride before God is like pus filled sores on our body. We begin to smell. We must ask God to forgive us of the pride in our lives in what-
ever form it has taken. We start revival prayer by humbling ourselves, then throwing ourselves on the mercy of God, asking for His forgiveness. Never should we resist God or insist that He is wrong and our concept of righteousness is correct. In the New Testament, we read that John the Baptist, speaking in God’s name, called the people to repeat and be baptized as a cleansing from sin. The Bible gives this amazing assessment of what the people did in response, they “justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John” (Luke 7:29b, KJV). We can either justify God or justify ourselves. One attitude leads to revival, the other to spiritual darkness. …To be continued in the next edition
