Our father which art in heaven , Hollowed be thy name. Thy Kingdon come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdon and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Matthew Ch:6 v 9.

Byron cage
"I look at myself as just a vessel that I pray God is going to use to get His music to many, many of His people and draw them closer to Him. To everyone who will listen to this recording, my prayer is that it will bring you closer to His presence, and be the Balm of Gilead in times of uncertainty. Be encouraged and stay in His presence." - Byron Cage Byron Cage spent his childhood, growing up in a small town in Michigan, where his exceptional musical gifts appeared to those around him very early in deed. His mother noticed that Byron, who seldom cried, preferred to hum some unknown melodies to himself as a baby, to amuse himself. His mom would say, "Listen to him! He's just singin' away!" So, it's not surprising to find out that his first solo in church happened when he was only 4 years old. Besides singing, Cage played the sax throughout his teenage years. In his later teen years, he self-taught himself to play the keyboard, becoming pretty proficient. At the age of 13, Byron and his family moved to Detroit, where he became a member of Greater Grace Temple which was a great place to not only spiritually grow in the Lord, but also proved to be a nurturing environment for developing musical gifts of their members. Besides Byron Cage, Fred Hammond and several other young
men who later wound up forming the Gospel group, COMMISSIONED, all attended and were involved in the music ministry at Greater Grace Temple. Byron Cage became a vocal soloist and the church's youth choir director. It was clear that the Lord was calling him into a music ministry, and a series of opportunities to grow his musical gifts began to enter his life. The Gospel group, COMMISSIONED, introduced Byron Cage to the greater Gospel music community when they asked him to be a guest artist on their third album. Another opportunity to expand his musical gifts was presented to him, when he became involved in and starred in early productions by gospel playwright, Michael Matthew.

The opportunities continued. In the mid-'80's, Byron Cage found a mentor and a very good friend, in the Gospel great, Thomas Whitfield. Cage toured and performed with Whitfield, further preparing for his music ministry. (The last song on Byron's debut CD, called "JUST SAY YES", was composed by Whitfield himself). Byron Cage left this touring and performing experience, when he was offered a full music scholarship to Morehouse College in Atlanta. This opportunity to be educated with the techniques, mechanics, and theory of music making, further strengthened his considerable musical gifts, which he put into practice when yet another opportunity to become a music director
opened to him. While in Atlanta, Byron Cage became the music director of a small, but vibrant church, New Birth. While Cage was musical director, the church grew from 700 members to 16,000! In 1998, Byron Cage moved to Fort Washington, to become the Senior Minister of Church Worship and Music at the Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides serving at this large A.M.E. Church, Cage also serves as the international minister of music for Bishop Paul Morton's full Gospel Baptist Fellowship, a major organization of Baptist churches. The Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship made two albums, on the GOSPO Centric label. Cage, encouraged by Vicki Lataillade of GOSPO Centric, composed a song of his own and performed another song on each album, which became hits. His performance of Tobias Fox's "SHABACH" and his own composition, "YET PRAISE HIM" inspired Vicki Lataillade of GOSPO Centric to invite Byron Cage to do a solo CD on her label. In February, 2003, Byron Cage's solo CD of contemporary Gospel Worship and Praise songs, entitled BYRON CAGE, which was recorded in a live performance at his old church home in Atlanta, Georgia, New Birth Cathedral, was released into the Christian music market.

You can apply for deferred action whether or not you are in (IMMIGRATION COURT) removal proceedings, granted voluntary departure, under a deportation order or (NOT IN IMMIGRATION COURT) if not detained, you are out of status. Out of status means that either you entered the county illegally (eg on someone else’s paper or by crossing the border) or if you ONCE had lawful status, your status has expired before June 15, 2012 or you violated your current status. An example of violating your status is where having entered on a visitor’s visa, eventhough not expired , you went ahead and worked without immigrations permission. If you are married, your spouse and children will not be able to benefit from your application for deferred action. If they are illegal, they will continue to be so, unless they can apply for legalization through another means. In making your application for deferred action,

Are You a Winner
Veronica Thawney.
I must congratulate all the winners of the Olympic Games 2012. and especially give some kudos to all the American Teams, Usain Bolt and all the others from Jamaica W.I, Grenada the Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands. To all the Continents ,you have done well. But who is a winner ? . A winner is some one who make a choice, follow rules, practise and dedicate him self and stay focus. As we can see, many were sent out from all around the world to earn themselves , their team and their Nation a prize. Just as the word of God says "many are called but few are chosen", we can clearly see it manifested here. The winners here did not just win because they were lucky, they were chosen because of the choice they made, and It all began with a mind set. They had to have courage to go forth with the desire of their heart and make a decision to be obedient and detective. So it is in the world , So it is also in the Kingdom of God. It is by our choice that we are chosen to become winners. It is by obedience and dedication and practice that we become Good Christians and good examples to others You may ask what does this mean?. It means that you should obey the words of God, practise what the bible says and dedicate your self to his work. Paul an exemplary man of God, in leading his team of Christians said: .Philippians 3:16. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17: Brethren be followers together with me and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. Just like Colby Brian in the American Basket Ball Team, "his team, i believe', listen to him and follow directions and work together as one . When we disobey God, and fail to be dedicated to his work, we are failing the team of the righteous and failing ourselves. There are principles and a law for everything and for everyone. There is a result for all that we do. 1 Timothy 5; 18. Thou shall not muzzle the ox that treadeth the corn, and the Labourer is worthy of his reward. May be it is time for you to take one more look at your self. Tell yourself that you can be a winner; take one step of faith with one stock courage and say like Paul: people I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of
the higher calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3: 13-14. There is a higher calling on your life. Its never too late for a shower of rain, Its never too late for a blessing, Its never too late to win.You have to make the decision , you have to dedicate yourself. As it is on earth so it is in Heaven. You need to achieve in this life and also inherit Eternal Life. You can be an example by holding your trophies high. You need be make a decision today. Tell yourself you wont be a looser. Take a bold step into your destiny, and make sure that God is always in you plan. Keep on praying for those who made us proud, and may God perfect the desire of your of your hearts. Stay focus. God bless.

Hollywood the Hypnotizes! The word hypnotize is described in the Oxford American College dictionary as follows: exerting compelling, fascinating, or soporific effect, sleep inducing, produce a state of hypnosis in someone, fascinate. In this special article we are going to study what and why the Batman massacre happened in Aurora Colorado. Why did James Holmes do it: He said one sentence that gave the answer. I will bring this sentence later in this article. Almost everybody missed this sentence I’m sure 90% of all readers, doctors, psychiatrists, and police missed it! Our scripture for this article is: “AND GOD SAW THAT THE WICKEDNESS OF MAN WAS GREAT IN THE EARTH, AND THAT EVERY IMAGINATION OF THE THOUGHTS OF HIS HEART WAS ONLY EVIL CONTINUALLY” We are approaching the days of NOAH (KJV) The two movies that will give us the answers how Hollywood Hypnotized us are; The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. These two movies were made by
WARNER BROTHERS PICTURES IN HOLLYWOOD. They are wealthy beyond our imagination making $162 millions in 2 days in America. Are we hypnotized? We are hypnotized by them, by Hollywood to give them our hand earned money!! Christopher Nolan was the man director and producer of these movies where does Christopher Nolan come from? These movies are the following to Batman Begins. Three movies that have changed the minds of millions of Americans. From GOOD TO EVIL. The old saying; “monkey see monkey do!” It’s a battle for your Soul, a battle for your Mind. (Maxine Duncan, Jamaican singer) The enemy will try to confuse you! “DEPART FROM EVIL, AND DO GOOD; SEEK PEACE, AND PURSUE IT, THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST EVIL DOERS, TO CUT OFF THE REMEMBRANCE OF THEM FROM THE EARTH” PSALM 34;14,16) The second movie of teenage destruction is The Hunger Games, Sold out movie theaters all over America
Long lines of young people writing to get into movie theaters to see how young teenagers fight and kill each other off. The Hunger Games; were have we sunken to as a Christian nation? No church, no group protests against it! Suzanne Collins wrote this book, where does she come from? She makes millions while our young people become mentally sick. Their only way out is to start talking drugs to blot out their minds from the movie horrors. Why do South American drug dealers say about American, that it is the worlds best drug market. American want drugs because to them it has become FOOD! Drug good to help them forget Hollywood terror attack on their young minds. The third Hollywood terror attack on our children 2 years ago came with all the VAMPIRE MOVIES. Went to Barnes and Nobel Book Store. The older woman in customer care very wise, told me that, the Vampire Diaries, was their best seller. Listed under teenage Paranormal Romance, was a big section of these books. Blue Moon The 7 evilight Saga, Breaking Danon and other books filled the shelves. Suzanne Collins, the author of these books, can really be proud of destroying another young generation. Who is Suzanne Collins? google it, and call me at: telephone number 212-470-2602. I need your help in these matters. I research on these topics now because our churches are asleep. Hollywood has hypnotized them also, remember well the words of
Rev. David Wilpenson saying that he had to get up and leave some Christian church concerts because they were full of Hollywood evil and rythems. One of the true prophets among American ministers has left us and gone to HeavContinues on Page 27

Richard Smallwood is a legend in his own time. After four decades as one of the most popular inspirational artists in the music business, with classic tunes such as “Total Praise;” “Center of My Joy;” and “I Love the Lord” to his credit, the Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and pianist continues to enjoy widespread popularity and influence. His songs have been recorded by Whitney Houston, Destiny’s Child, Kelly Price, Gerald Levert, American Idol’s Ruben Studdard, and a who’s who of the gospel world. Even the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, has recently recorded a Richard Smallwood tune, “Faithful,” on her latest CD. Recently, while standing before a recording studio full of hand-picked friends and music industry colleagues, gathered for an intimate live recording session of Smallwood’s new CD, PROMISES (Verity Gospel Music Group), he made a startling confession. “I had not written a song since my mom died in 2005,” he told the stunned audience. “I thought the gift I had dried up. I would try to write and nothing would come. I’d sit at the piano, I’d pray and there was nothing.” “Then, in 2009, I was watching CNN and was overwhelmed by the negativity I saw,” Smallwood recalls as his breakthrough. “I began to think that, regardless of what the media says, we as God’s children are heirs to the Kingdom and He has made us certain promises. He promised that He’d take care of us, and that He’d provide for us. If God says it, that settles it. I wanted to write a complete project with songs that dealt with the promises found in His Word so that I could encourage and remind us that God is still in control. Soon after, I began dreaming songs. I have dreamed a few songs before, but I can count the times on one hand that I remembered what I had dreamed after I had awaken. But this time, not only could I remember what I had dreamed but sometimes more than one song would come at the same time and I could barely keep up with them. I knew that God was saying something that we all needed to hear.”

Richard Smallwood
We can now hear what is arguably Smallwood’s most personal and intimate album yet. It features a tribute to his musical mentor, Walter Hawkins, who died of pancreatic cancer this past July; a collaboration with his protégé, Donald Lawrence; a cameo by jazzsoul artist Lalah Hathaway (daughter of his `60s Howard University classmate, Donny Hathaway); his trusty ensemble of singers known as Vision; and yet another collaboration with his co-producer Steven Ford who first collaborated with Smallwood on his 1987 CD Textures, which included the popular “Center of My Joy.” With Smallwood’s vast accomplishments, it could be easy to rest on his laurels, but that’s not his style. Since childhood, the Atlanta, GA native has been driven. His father, former pastor of the historic Union Temple in Washington, D.C., was a tough taskmaster, and his mother encouraged his early love of music. The two extremes fueled his passion. He began to play piano by ear by the age of five. By seven, he was taking formal lessons and by eleven, had formed his own gospel group. In junior high school, future pop star Roberta Flack was one of his teachers and musical mentors. He later graduated from Howard University cum laude with a degree in music. He was very active on campus as a member of Howard’s first gospel group, the Celestials, and a founding member of the re-
nowned Howard Gospel Choir. Along the way, he also developed lifelong relationships with fellow classmates such as Donny Hathaway, Debbie Allen, and Phylicia Rashad who would all make names for themselves in show business. After college, Smallwood taught music at the University of Maryland before founding the Richard Smallwood Singers in 1977. Their progressive, contemporary sound earned them a record deal with Benson Records in 1981. Their debut LP, The Richard Smallwood Singers, spent 87 weeks on Billboard magazine’s Spiritual chart and cultivated a fresh, young sophisticated audience for the ensemble. Their next LP, Psalms, hit #1 and they were on a roll. They, then moved over to Word Records in 1987 where they recorded gospel standards such as “Center of My Joy,” “Calvary,” and “Holy Holy.” The group’s popularity led to an invita-
tion to perform in the Soviet Union – reportedly the first gospel group to do a concert tour of the country at the time. After a couple of albums with Sparrow Records in the early `90s, Smallwood retired the Smallwood Singers and birthed the choir, Vision. Their debut CD, Adoration: Live in Atlanta, appeared on Verity Records in spring 1996. It featured the smash radio singles “Total Praise” and “Angels.” In the years since, Smallwood and Vision have released radio blockbusters such as “Healing,” “Anthem of Praise” and “Bless The Lord.” It’s been over four years since Smallwood’s last project, Journey: Live In New York, which debuted at #1 in fall 2006 and spawned the radio hit, “I’ll Trust You.” With co-producer Steven Ford (who has collaborated with artists ranging from Vickie Winans to Tye Tribbett) at the helm, Smallwood offers the same sophisticated symphony of praise that established his name over 30 years ago. “Not too many people understand my musical insanity,” he joked at the live session. “And Steven Ford has been working with me since the Middle Ages.” The two veterans pulled their best resources to spotlight a collection that spotlights not only the promises of God but also further solidifies Smallwood’s stature as one of gospel music’s greatest tunesmiths. Like Donald Lawrence said on that cool December evening, “Richard writes like Rogers & Hammerstein. His songs are ageless and they never go away.” That’s a promise that Richard Smallwood is sure to keep.

God is Speaking – Are You Listening? Everyday God is speaking to us, but we aren’t listening and often say that we can’t hear God. Take a look at your circumstances; how is your life working? If it is not, then you need to ask the question, “Is God trying to tell me something”? The answer to that question is probably, “Yes.” My experience has been that God will try to get me to hear what He is saying very gently by placing a thought in my mind over and over again until I really begin to think about it and then take action. Many years ago, I began to have the thought that I needed to save money but saw no way to do that on my salary. Shortly after that, I got that same message from another person to whom I replied that I didn’t see how I could do that. Several weeks after that while speaking to a colleague at work, he made the suggestion that when I got my next raise I should put it into savings. If God tries to speak to us, and we don’t listen after He has tried many times, He will do something to get our attention and not allow our lives to work smoothly. We can see from the history of Israel that God has no trouble letting us keep making the same mistakes over and over until we finally get so tired that we are ready to listen. What is God trying to tell us? Often it is that there is a better way to be doing things that will make our lives work better; after all, He is a very practical God. When we think of God, we tend to relegate Him to spiritual matters and life and death issues. He, on the other hand, wants to be part of every area of our lives. We, as His children, suffer and struggle so much more than we need to because we don’t ask God to help us and don’t seek His input on the issues of our lives. Is it that we think that He
is not interested or that we are too insignificant for Him to bother with us or our concerns? What a terrible mistake we are making. Perhaps we don’t ask for God’s input because we really want to do it our own way and don’t want to feel controlled. After all, we do have free will. How foolish we are. Our Creator wants to guide and direct our lives so that they can work better, and we can be happier, healthier and more at peace and we say, “No thank you.” For those of us living in America and enjoying its prosperity, we are often very independent and have a sense of superiority over the rest of the world. God’s chosen people, Israel, had the same idea back in 732 B.C. when God allowed its enemies to destroy it as we read in Isaiah 9. God was trying to get His people to repent so that He could help and bless them. God is doing the same thing to America, but we have refused to hear the warnings and so they will get louder and more severe. September 11 was a loud warning, The financial crisis of 2008 was a louder warning. Every seven years the warning gets louder and more severe. What will happen in 2015 if we still refuse to repent and turn back to God? What have been the seven-year cycles in your own life? What is God calling you to repent of or to just change so your life works better? He is speaking to you…are you listening? We tend to resist change and continue to do things the same way even when it is not working. Because God is all-knowing and willing to give us insights and wisdom, we are foolish not to seek Him for help in every area of our lives. He will lead us to the best place to live, the best car to buy, to the best doctor to go to, to the right foods to eat and, believe it or not, to the best place to shop
for a given item. Most of us have been raised to fear God and to know that He holds life and death in His hands and is the sovereign God of the universe. But most of us do not have as intimate a relationship with Him as He desires. Because we have a difficult time often having an intimate by Rev. Trudy Daley relationship with Tri Une Healing and Restoration other humans, it is Ministries, Inc. almost impossible for us to comprehend or want that with God. Most humans will give up on a relationship when the other person does not respond. God, however, is far more tenacious than we are and far more long-suffering, but if we continue to turn away He will allow circumstances to then get our attention. If we still refuse to listen and go our own way, He will allow us to do so. It is not too late for America, and it is not too late for us to turn to God and repent and ask for His help in our lives. God is still speaking--- are you listening?
"Jamaica and Trinidad Tobago: Celebrating the 50th Independence with God" The month of August 2012 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the independence of two of the most beautiful countries in the world, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. In 1962 after centuries of British rule the founding fathers decided to make the case for self rule which allowed the citizens of Jamaica and Trinidad to govern themselves, make their own laws and be directly responsible for the political and economic development of their respective islands. However, the leaders of both nations knew and recognized that such an important event could not be possible without the presence of the Almighty God and that the future of these newly-independent countries depended on the will of God. The psalmist David in Psalm 113 v.4 said ..."The Lord is high above all nations and his glory above the heavens " so both newly-sovereign Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago affirmed that there was no better way to honor and proclaim the glory of God than in their countries' national anthems so that each time it is sung or played, to God will be the glory. "Eternal Father, bless our land, guide us with thy mighty Hand" begins the Jamaican national anthem, this is a solemn cry to God for Him to have His way in the life of the country because
by Carl Johnson. He is the shepherd of this beautiful island that He himself created. Jamaica is one of the smallest countries in the world but with the blessing of God has achieved so much with its music, food and sports that there is no doubt that it is a blessed isle. Trinidad &Tobago also shows its reverence to the Lord Almighty in its national anthem with the line..."forged from the love of liberty in the fires of hope and prayer. Every creed and race find an equal place. And may God bless our nation". This highlights the importance of hope and prayer for the growth of the nation, for any nation without the presence of God is headed
down the path of destruction. Trinidad & Tobago too, in its beauty and splendor is a testimony to God's greatness. It is also renowned for its culture, food and natural resources all which are made possible through the Almighty. The founding fathers were very wise to pay tribute to God at the independence of these two nations, for again the psalmist David in Psalms 127 v.1-2 says.."Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." So without the Almighty God being the foundation for any nation then that nation will be bound to fail in whatever endeavors it partakes in. The principles of God must be an important part of the foundation which will ensure the continued favor of God. The Bible says the earth is the Lord's and its fullness thereof, everything on the earth was created and belongs to the Almighty God but He gave mankind dominion over it all and so it is the responsibility of these nations to maintain God's doctrines as they progress for another fifty years. Prayer Point: Let the glory of God, shine in this nation, in the Mighty name of Jesus.

One man's memories of the London 2012 Olympics
London - For the third time, the capital of Great Britain hosted the Olympics. In 1908, the modem Games were just starting out. In 1948, they were dubbed the "Austerity Games" since much of the world was recovering from a war.
This, then, was the chance for the city to show itself in full - a combination of a thriving metropolis that was deeply rooted in history. It's the kind of setting where you could tour a church built in 960, walk over to beach volleyball and then dine on authentic Indian food. It was also about the gathering of the world's best athletes and best story lines, everything from NBA multimillionaires to marathon refugees who didn't even have a country to represent. It was the London Olympics, and here is some of what stood out (American-biased version). Michael Phelps He arrived with 16 medals, including 14 golds, already in his possession. So Phelps said his sundae was complete; he was just here to see how many toppings he could pile on. It was an interesting statement, one designed to take the pressure off winning gold in all of his seven events. It also made it sound like he wasn't fully committed, and so when he finished fourth in his first event, the 4oo-meter individual medley, that was part of the narrative out of the Aquatics Centre. It was ridiculous, of course. "Crappy race," Phelps called it and it was more aberration than trend. If anything, he should've skipped the grueling 400 IM That he %vent for it said he was taking these Games very seriously. Four golds and two silvers later, and Phelps' sundae was buried in toppings.

The Royals
The queen was in a video for the Opening Ceremony. Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess Kate and the guy she married and his brother kept showing up at all sorts of events to root the Brits on with great glee - all with the cameras on them, of course. It was clear the royals were using these Olympics to up their popularity by selling themselves as just regular people. They even OK'ed all the events that took place near their palaces and residences. Maybe it worked. who knows? It's a puzzling group. Kate Middleton would be photographed wearing three and four different outfits in a single day. It seems like they exist to sell copies of the San and the Daily Mirror. So considering the state of the newspaper industry, maybe the royals could move to the United States.

Sewing and Gathering in His Garden I
n our gardens, our aim is to sow the best seed we can so that we may gather the most beautiful flowers to enjoy and an abundance of vegetables to feed our families. A secondary aim might be to share the bounty with others, when the garden has produced enough. Whatever our sowing goals are, it takes a lot of time, hard work, patience, money, and a bit of gardening knowledge to produce the results we’re hoping for…sturdy, healthy plants with the best “fruits.” But those sturdy plants are very dependent upon a good strong root system in healthy soil. If the bed has not been well prepared first, poor results will soon follow. It’s so like me, and perhaps many of you, to be thinking of the finished product that I want to quickly reap, and in my eagerness for the beauty and bounty of it all, I get impatient. I’m often cutting corners to get the job done fast rather than done properly. I half-heartedly garden, because I count the cost of all the items needed to begin with and to keep the garden going. There’s the hard work of preparing the soil: turning the dirt over, removing any rocks, and working in the food and fertilizer, before any planting can begin. And of course, a good plan has to first be in place as to where the seeds and plants will be put, and which ones need full sun or partial shade. Then, when the seedlings and plants are
growing, there’s the matter of weeding and watering, when I’d rather be doing other fun things in the summer. When I do set aside time to tend to those chores, pretty soon my back or knees start to complain, and the heat of the sun gets to me far too quickly now. Escaping to the cool of air-conditioning and a cold glass of water, I’m often distracted by something inside and never get back out to finish what I started. My flowers and vegetables, therefore, are not as abundant or lovely as I would like them to be. At summer’s end, the thought is usually that next year I’ll really put more thought and effort into the planning and production of the garden I always visualize. A half-hearted attempt….a half-hearted garden. Just so, a half-hearted attempt at prayer and real time spent with our Lord to build a close relationship with Him, learning His Way, will never produce the fruits of the Christian life. In His gardens though, full devotion was given. Right from the beginning in Genesis 2, we read that “the Lord God planted a garden in Eden…out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food…” “A river flows out of Eden to water the garden…” God planned and created a lush, full garden and created man and woman to walk its paths in blessing and to tend the garden in purity. His plan was not half-hearted…it
was good and purposeful. But man fell because of selfish desire, causing banishment from His perfect garden. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus went with His disciples – Peter, James and John – and He (our perfect Lord) threw Himself on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. But His roots were always in the Father. And He cried, “Abba, Father, for you all things are possible. Remove this cup from me; yet, not what I want, but what you want” (Matthew 26:39). Jesus then found the three disciples sleeping. “Could you not keep awake one hour? Keep awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:40- 41). Jesus Himself gave His all to the task at hand: obedience always to the Father and deep, soul- searching, trusting prayers of communication with the Father; sacrificial obedience to the Plan. He went to Calvary: bruised, beaten, torn and nailed to the Cross to make us…the imperfect…beautiful in Him and He never counted the cost. His broken body was laid to rest in a cold, dark tomb so that we might come out of the dark into the Light, because of His toil, His death, His glory and Resurrection. The Father sowed the best seeds in order to gather together the worst of the worst- --and transform the wilting, sin-eat-
Carol Ossenfort en, worm-infested, half-grown, half-hearted and scattered seeds to Himself; those seeds that struggle to survive, lifting hungry, thirsty limbs to Him. All the seeds that the Father knew before creation, which were sown for Him, He gathers into Himself for glory in His garden…now and in Heaven. Think now about the preparation and condition of your soil. How good are the seeds you are sowing; how firm is the root system you’re developing, and what are you gathering in your life’s garden…His garden… today?
Be A Water Walker Not A Reality Walker
After feeding the five thousand men besides women and children, Jesus sent his disciples ahead of him in a boat, and then went by himself to pray. The sea became rough and the disciples were fearful. Suddenly at the fourth hour, they saw someone walking on the water and thought it were a ghost. They were terrified. Jesus saw their fear and said to them, “Take courage! It is I, don’t be afraid”. Peter replied “Lord, if it is you tell me to come to you on the water. “Come” Jesus said. Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water, but when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink. Then he cried out “Lord save me.” Immediately Jesus caught him and said, “Oh ye of little faith.” If we don’t have faith we cannot be a water walker. Hebrews 11:1 ( NIV) says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Voltaire postulates “Faith consists in believing not what seems true, but what seems false to our understanding.” Faith takes us beyond the realms of reality. As a matter of fact, if it can be seen as reality, then faith is
Maisy Vassell not involved. Faith walks hand in hand with impossibilities, and is totally the opposite of reality. Let’s take some lessons from Peter walking on the water: Firstly, faith needs a strong foundation on which to stand, and this foundation is Jesus Christ. We must know God for who He is. We must be able to recognize him, and this is only possible when we develop a close relationship with Him. Peter recognized Jesus after Jesus made himself known to him and
what a difference it made! Secondly, we must know the power of God. We must know that there is absolutely nothing that God can’t do. We must know that He can change any situation that we may be in. After Jesus identified Himself, Peter says,” Lord if it is you, bid me walk on the water.” Peter would not have made that request if he never believed in the power of God. Thirdly, we must trust God’s character. Would we trust someone who frequently lied to us? I’m sure we wouldn’t. Therefore, the fact that we know that God is faithful to His words, means that we can trust him to do exactly what He promises to do. No matter how impossible it seems God is able to work it out. Peter knows this fact and
that’s why he obeyed without hesitation. Fourthly, whenever we are instructed by God to do something, do it. Don’t ask why, when or how. We will not get much detail anyhow. All that is required a simple child-like faith. Lastly, no matter what is happening around us, let’s not be afraid. Let’s rest comfortably in the presence of the Lord. The sea may be rough, but God is able to calm it. Let’s continue to walk by faith, not by sight.

Diet In the Key of Cee - Eating Well Serves Living Well YOUR DIET CAN HELP CONTROL DIABETES Diabetes mellitus is a condition that results in the inability of the body to control and maintain normal blood glucose (or sugar) levels. Carbohydrate foods are broken down into glucose, which is then carried around in the blood stream. Insulin (a hormone produced in the pancreas) is required for the absorption of glucose by the body’s cells for energy. THERE ARE TWO MAIN TYPES OF DIABETES: TYPE 1 (Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or Juvenile Onset) - The pancreas of people with Type 1 diabetes produces no insulin, so they must obtain insulin through regular injections. TYPE 2 (Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus or Adult Onset) - The pancreas of people with Type 2 diabetes produces insufficient or ineffective insulin due to insulin resistance. This means that the body is unable to maintain normal blood glucose levels. A balanced diet, regular exercise, weight control & a healthy lifestyle are vital to help manage both these types of diabetes. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Base your meals on: Wholegrain breads, cereals & grain foods, vegetables, legumes & fruits. Include a Moderate Intake of: Reduced/ low fat dairy products, eggs, lean meat, chicken with the fat or skin removed and fish. Limit your intake of: > Added fats, butter, margarine & cooking oil > Fatty snacks
Diabetes
& crisps > Biscuits & pastries Deep fried foods > Pies, Pasties > Chocolate Reducing fat, especially saturated fat, in your diet is important for managing weight, cholesterol levels and your diabetes .Use small quantities of the healthier fats - polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats such as sunflower, canola, macadamia nut, grape seed or olive spreads and oils and avocado. Spread Carbohydrates throughout the Day: All carbohydrates found in foods are broken down in the body to their simplest form, glucose. For this reason, intake of carbohydrate-rich foods should be spread evenly throughout the day to provide a steady supply of glucose to the body. Try to select carbohydrate rich foods that are also high in fiber and low in fat such as: >Wholegrain breads > Wholemeal pasta & brown rice > Legumes e.g. lentils, soy beans > Wholegrain cereals > Fruits e.g. fresh, dried, canned > Vegetables (potato, corn) What is the Glycemic Index of Foods? Glycemic Index (GI) is the rate at which carbohydrate is broken down to provide glucose to the body. The lower the GI, the slower the release of glucose and this is beneficial for people with diabetes. Q&A "Ask" VAlerie Q A
Beatrice Xavier, Brooklyn, NY asked: Can I decrease my individual tax bill by donating to charitable organizations? Response by Valerie Samuel
Yes. In fact, many individuals, and companies plan, budget and give for that very reason. Here are a few facts to think about when planning to make your contribution. • Individuals, and businesses can reduce their tax bill by donating to charitable organizations • Individual donations are generally limited to 50% of your adjusted tax income • To keep track of your deductions,
individuals should write a check and obtain the end of year statement from the organization [required by the IRS] • Types of charitable donations 1. Tithes paid to churches 2. Donations to ministries and outreach organizations beyond the church: i.e., The Good News Chronicles (thegoodnewschronicles@yahoo.com) Moms for Profit (info@momsforprofit.org).
3. Gifts of property: Clothing, Appliances, Buildings Ms. Xavier, you should also keep in mind that once you do de-
cide to take advantage of the deductions for gifts, it is the perfect way to direct your money to causes that are keeping with your own world view, and ethical outlook, all while being rewarded with a reduced tax bill. Today's Word with Joel & Victoria Don’t Delay
Make the Lord Your Trust
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “I made haste, and did not delay to keep Your commandments.” (Psalm 119:60, NKJV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Isn’t it interesting how easy it is to put things off? We plan on doing something. We have good intentions. We just plan to do it later. “One day I’m going to start exercising. One day I’m going to get my finances in order. One day I’m going to forgive that person who hurt me.” The problem with this kind of thinking is that “one day” never comes. There will always be some reason to keep delaying it. Is there something in your heart that you know you need to do? Maybe God has been dealing with you, and you keep putting it off. You think, “As soon as I get through this busy season, then
I’ll spend more time with my family. As soon as the price of gas goes down, then I’ll start tithing my income. As soon as my child gets out of diapers, then I’m going to get my family back in church.” But friend, good intentions don’t equal obedience. The quicker you do what you feel down in your spirit, the happier you’re going to be. Don’t let unfinished business keep you from God’s best. Step out. Obey His voice and walk in the blessing He has for you! A PRAYER FOR TODAY Father, thank You for Your patience and grace toward me. Search my heart. Show me the way to go. I choose to obey Your voice quickly and honor You in all that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen
Something Out of Nothing TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “The earth was formless and empty... and God said, ‘Let there be light’ ” (Genesis 1:2–3, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Are you believing God for something today that seems impossible? We serve a great and mighty God, and He can create something out of nothing! He can make a way where there seems to be no way! He can create whatever is needed in your life. Genesis tells us that in the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. But before He spoke the world into existence, it was formless and empty. If God can make the world out of nothing, He can take the empty places in your life and create something beautiful, too! He can speak light into your darkest hour. He can take your formless dreams and give them shape. He can resurrect your dormant gifts and talents! He can make your crooked
places straight! Remember, you are created in the image of Almighty God. There’s power in your words and power when you’re in agreement with Him. Only say what God says about your situation. Speak life to your broken dreams today. Stay in an attitude of faith and expectancy, and as you do, God will take you places that you’ve never dreamed. He’ll make something beautiful out of every broken place in your life! A PRAYER FOR TODAY Father in heaven, I trust that You are willing and able to make a way where there seems to be no way in my life. Fill me with Your peace and faith and give me a vision for all You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust...” (Psalm 40:4, NKJV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Did you know that trusting in the Lord is a decision we make just like we choose anything else in life? You chose what you are wearing today, you probably chose what you would have for breakfast, and you can choose to trust God every day, too! When you choose to trust God, there is peace that settles in your heart. There is joy because you know the outcome, and there is blessing in store for you because your hope is sure. No matter what you are facing in life today, trust that Almighty God will come through for you. Trust that His Word is always true. In Psalm 32, David calls God his “hiding place.” In other words, when you place your trust
in God, you can find refuge in Him. You are actually hidden from the enemy when you choose to trust. Always remember, when circumstances seem overwhelming, don’t look at what’s happening around you; look to God. He is the author and finisher of your faith. Choose to trust that He is the one who is ordering your steps. Find security in knowing that He is making your crooked places straight and your rough places smooth. Trust in Him and live in the blessing and everlasting life He has prepared for you! A PRAYER FOR TODAY Father in heaven, today I choose to put my trust in You. I know You are a good and faithful God, and I trust that You have my best interest at heart. Help me stay focused on Your goodness today in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen
The God of Comfort TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you...” (Isaiah 66:13, NIV) TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria Oftentimes, when people face challenges, they seek comfort by surrounding themselves with things that are familiar. It may be work, a sport or hobby; it may be relationships; or of course, we all know about comfort food. But those things are only temporary, and they can only bring temporary comfort. True, lasting comfort is available, and it’s only found in a personal relationship with God, the Father through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. According to Webster’s diction-
ary, comfort means to give strength and hope; to ease grief or trouble. No matter what difficulty you may be facing today, God wants to bring you comfort. Like a mother cares for her child, He longs to give you strength, hope and confidence. Make the decision to put Him first in every area of your life. Let go of those things you know are holding you back. Let Him be Lord over all! As you surrender to His grace, you will be filled with His peace and joy. You’ll be empowered to overcome every obstacle, and you will live in victory all the days of your life. A PRAYER FOR TODAY Father in heaven, I come to You today and invite You to fill my whole being. Give me Your lasting comfort and strength. Empower me by Your Holy Spirit to live in the victory You have established for me in Jesus’ name. Amen. — Joel & Victoria Osteen

BIBLE STUDY
The Armor of God Rev. Douglas Palms
Dear Friends, I am encouraged by your great response to this series. If you follow it through, I guarantee that you will be a more powerful Christian. These studies are studies with a difference concerning the armor of God. I will be giving you a few questions to answer as a means of reinforcement. Please treat them as a fun exercise. It is my delight to share with you God’s Word. For those of you who want to drop me a note, you may reach me at ng.cm@hotmail.com. We are soldiers! It is not a choice. The moment you accept Jesus as Lord of your life you are conscripted into his army. You have an enemy who is relentless and very dangerous! His plan is to destroy you and those around you (John 10:10). He wants you to join him in his punishment which is to be cast down into hell As Christian soldiers, we have some general orders much like the secular army. Let us take a look at these general orders. Army’s General Orders 1. I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved. 2. I will obey my special orders and perform all of my duties in a military manner. 3. I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instructions to the commander of the relief. The first order instructs you to watch, stand guard, keep watch… But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. Be on guard in the way you live and the way you minister. This is the heights of responsibility! We have a responsibility to each other. We are to love others (particularly the weaker
Christians) and watch what we do for their sakes! (read 1 Corinthians 8:9-18) 17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Some people have the responsibility of watching over your soul. They are usually called pastors or in general, ministers. The apostle commands that we show them obedience, because they must give an account to God of you. Your spiritual leaders have an awesome responsibility before God to let God know what is happening with you on a daily or weekly basis. As soldiers, they must keep to that post as long as they are commissioned to that post (such as pastor of the church). Jesus gave us one command. He said My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. (John 15:12-NIV). How many of you can sincerely say you love your brother and sister in the wider Church and in the local church? Obedience is a must for the winning Christian. In the third order, we are fortunate that God will already know when there is a violation and will therefore deal with it. What is important is that we should be aware of these violations and avoid them! We will get into the meat of this study in the next issue. I Thessalonians 5:6 says: Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. Refresher: Describe the struggle we are involved in as Christians and where is it (the description) found? 2.What group of Christians should we look out for most? 3. Why are we targets for attack? 4. Repeat Jesus’ order(s)

NOTICE OF SOLICITATION – REQUEST FOR LISTING (RFL) Expanded Success Initiative RFL Round 2 Release Date: August 13, 2012
Background The Expanded Success Initiative (ESI) is a key educational component of New York City’s Young Men’s Initiative. The Young Men's Initiative, the nation's most comprehensive effort to tackle the broad disparities slowing the advancement of Black and Latino young men, was announced in August 2011. Through broad policy changes and agency reforms, a publicprivate partnership will invest in programs that will connect young men to educational, employment, and mentoring opportunities across more than a dozen city agencies. Support for the initiative is being provided by the Open Society Foundations and Bloomberg Philanthropies through grants to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City and The Fund for Public Schools. ESI sets a higher bar for the long-term educational outcomes of New York’s Black and Latino male students, namely by ensuring they graduate from high school prepared for success in college or a career pathway. To achieve this outcome, ESI will provide incoming Black and Latino 9th graders at 40 selected public high schools with programs and supports that increase their readiness and access to college and careers as they progress through high school. The initiative will promote college success through improved school operations in key areas:
Proven experience working in a high school setting; Prior success in providing technical assistance services; and Self-reported or externally validated outcome data related to college readiness for Black and Latino young men. Deadline for Applications: September 14, 2012 Time: 5:00 PM Location: No paper applications will be accepted. You must apply online. EASY WAY TO SUBDUE THE ENEMIES
29
AND RECOVER YOUR STOLEN VIRTUES
Satan is an unrelenting enemy of man, Accuser of brethren. The heavenly hosts had to cast him down here when they couldn’t put up with him anymore. 1 Peter 5:8 gives us an idea what satan is up to when it says be sober and vigilant for your adversary the devil lurks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. His main agenda is to wreak havoc, destroy man and frustrate God’s plan. He has his human agents in every set up including families we call them household enemies, a minister may become one unconsciously. Prophet Balaam was a good example; he decamped from the Lord’s Army for financial gains to curse the people whom God has blessed. Any minister who likes to run down or destroy fellow ministers or to sow seeds of discord among brethren with the aim of frustrating God’s work is an enemy and could be hit by the Lord’s arrow of deliverance if he/she will not repent. There’s no man without an enemy, not any that I know, not even Jesus, Sickness and diseases are enemies. Thieves that come to steal, to kill and to destroy are another good example of the enemy; some enemies are selfmade while some people are their own enemies, some enemies are very stubborn and will not stop bothering us until we too stop being disobedient and rebellious to God. There are secret enemies just as sometimes we have some secret admirers. Some enemies are diehard and unrepentant; they have made up their minds like Haman and King Herod and the host of pharaoh of Egypt who perished in the red sea. Such enemies it’s only death that can free us from them. Some have graduated from being just ordinary enemies they have parleyed with Satan; they are people Paul described in 2 Corinthians 10:4 as principalities and powers. They have the anointing; Satan has recruited and licensed them to destroy man and God’s purpose just as the Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit is recruiting people into His Army to fight the devil and spoil his camp. The bible says right from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of God has suffered violence and only the violent seize it by force. Mathew 11:12. 2 Corinthians 10:6 says and being ready to punish to all disobedience when your own obedience is fully fulfilled. What is disobedience? It is rebel-
ling against divine order, Adam and his Madam disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit, anything a man does that is capable of frustrating God’s purpose and agenda is deemed an act of disobedience. When Jonah rebelled against God he couldn’t rebuked the storm anymore, it rebelled against his authority. The people also touched the anointed of God, they bundled him into the sea and even the fish that should be meat for him was going to eat him up. God appeared to Abram and said to him quit your father’s house, your family and your country and follow me to a place where I will show unto you and I will make you a father of many nations and I will bless thee and you’ll be a blessing to all the families of the earth and he obeyed. Again God told him to walk before Him and be perfect in other words God told him to straighten up and be more focused. The bible says hope delayed makes the heart sick. When the promised son delayed in coming and Sarah his wife now was too old they applied the saying “heaven helps those who help themselves” and ended up with Ismail but God insisted the son He promised must come through Sarah and not one Haggai. When they were about to enter Egypt Abraham was afraid they might kill him because of his wife whom God now had given a new look, so he lied she was his sister and the King decided to marry the beautiful young girl who God has said will bear Abraham a child. Beloveth what is that thing God has given you to take you to the next level that the enemies including sin have captured from you? Sometimes you don’t have to weep all night till day break. Abraham wept to the Lord that night, and the same night God troubled king Abimelech, he began having problem, what he had thought was a blessing suddenly became a problem to him and his entire household. God warned him in the
dream to give Abraham back his wife else he and his entire household will perish. The King immediately released Sarah, he didn’t have to go and fast or pray. A lot of people fast and pray today yet the problem refuse to go away; they need to ask God why? Prayer and fasting is not a remedy or an alternative to Obedience. The bible says “And being ready to punish all disobedience when your own obedience is fully fulfilled.” Don’t expect the enemies to fall down and die where it is you that simply needs to repent, the problems of some people have been recurrent and stubborn and won’t go away unless they too stop backbiting and sowing seeds of discord among brethren. When a man’s way pleases God He will make even his enemies to be at peace with him if they refuse they will have problem and if they already have one it will escalate like the Egyptian plagues. Joseph has not even revealed himself yet to his brothers when they began to bow down to him because he pleased God. These were people who had previously said “and let us see how his dream will come to pass” The people hated Isaac and chased him away like Jephtah but they had to go and look for him again and make a covenant of peace with him else they would start having problem. He didn’t have to lift up a sword against them. When the comforting hand of God is upon a man things including people that have been previously against him will become food and raw materials for his success. The philistines captured the Ark of God’s covenant and killed about 30,000 soldiers just because the people rebelled but when they repented and cried to God, the enemies began having problem, they soon found out the Ark of God’s covenant was the problem and they returned it with trespass offering. Abraham couldn’t sleep that night because he had lost his wife; Abi-

He didn’t fast or pray all he did was restore Abraham his wife immediately with trespass offering in sheep, oxen, goats, camels and even slaves to till the ground for him. This is just what God will do when you begin to please Him He will cause the enemies to lose their pride and their arrogance and command them to return what they have stolen. You may need to pray these simple but acidic prayers 1. Anything stolen from me by the enemies I command you in Jesus name begin to trouble them. 2. Every stolen virtues that I need to go the next level I recover you in the name of Jesus 3. You my enemies you will have no peace in Jesus name until you’ve retuned all my blessings. 4. Any curse issued by any man or woman to destabilize my destiny backfire in Jesus name.

phesians 5:25-33 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”[e This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband”. Married couples who know how to communicate, how to keep their romance alive, how to laugh together, and how to love, respect and forgive one another are proof that lifelong marriages are not obsolete. When you were married, you and your spouse both promised to care for each other, and you expected that care from each other. You were in love, and you were highly motivated to make each other happy. But it might not have occurred to you at the time that if you didn't care for each other the right way, you might lose your love for each other. And along with your loss of love, you might lose your willingness to care for each other. At the time, you probably did not know what caring for each other the right way meant. You thought that your commitment to care for each other would

be sufficient to sustain your love. Even today, you may still be in the dark as to what it takes to care for each other the right way. To care the right way, you must make large Love Bank deposits. And I've found that the best way to make those deposits is to meet each other's most important emotional needs. What is an emotional need? It is a craving that, when satisfied, leaves you with a feeling of happiness and contentment, and, when unsatisfied, leaves you with a feeling of unhappiness and frustration. There are probably thousands of emotional needs. A need for birthday parties, peanut butter sandwiches,
35
Monday Night Football, I could go on and on. Some people have some of those needs while others have different needs. If you feel good doing something, or if someone does something for you that makes you feel good, an emotional need has been met. But not all emotional needs are created equally. When some are met, you may only feel comfortable-they make small Love Bank deposits. There are others, however, that can make you feel downright euphoric. In fact they make you so happy that you're likely to fall in love with the person that meets them. I call those our most important emotional needs because they make the largest Love Bank deposits of all. And those are the very same emotional needs that a husband and wife expect each other to meet in marriage Here are some of the more common important needs: Affection; Conversation; Recreational; Companionship. Honesty and Openness; Physical Attractiveness; Financial Support; Domestic Support; Family Commitment; Admiration; Sexual Fulfillment. I want you to understand how important it is for you to schedule enough time to meet each other's most important emotional needs. You simply will not do a very good job making each other happy while doing something else or in your spare time--you need to schedule quality time each week to give each other your undivided attention. I make this crucial point in the Policy of Undivided Attention. 2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Riva Tims Speaks on Life Without Zachery as His Death's Anniversary Approaches
August 12th will mark the first year anniversary of the unexpected death of frequent TBN TV host and mega church pastor, Zachary Tims, who was found dead in a New York City hotel room under suspicious circumstances. His former wife and mother of his four children, Riva Tims, pastor of the Majestic Life Church in Orlando, FL, continues to rebuild her life and create a new one for her children without their father. Their story reads like a movie. She was raised in an upper middle class home, was active in church and was a virgin when they met at a Bible school where they were both students. He was a former drug dealer who had cleaned his life up and pursued the ministry with passion. They married and moved to Orlando with no money and started a fellowship. Their first service had
six attendees in 1996 and the church became very connected with the local community, boasting job fairs for the unemployed, aiding the congregants in purchasing homes and feeding the hungry. The fellowship struck a nerve in Orlando and membership swelled to 8,000 worshippers over the next decade. Just before Tims’ died, Riva Tims had finished writing a book entitled, When It All Falls Apart: Finding Healing, Joy and Victory Through Pain (Charisma House), which was revised after his death and released this past spring. The book details the miraculous journey that she and her husband made together for the sake of ministry, how her marriage fell apart because of his year-long dalliance with a Paris woman, the other extramarital affairs that led to their divorce, the mysterious circum-
stances surrounding his sudden death and how she triumphed over the emotional depression this whole episode brought upon her. As this tragedy has unfolded, Riva has leaned on God and forgiven all of those who played a role in this tragedy. She now feels especially equipped to minister to others who have gone through similar situations and the church she founded, Majestic Life Church, has become a social shelter for hurting and ever-healing people. “Riva Tims has walked through the valley of pain and lived to tell about it,” says J. Lee
Grady, Contributing Editor, Charisma Magazine. “She has walked through the fire‚Ķbut she‚Äôs not bitter, sarcastic or discouraged. I know her story will restore hope to many who are ready to give up.” Visit www.rivatimsbook.com <http://www.rivatimsbook.com> for more information.

Use Those Who Do Not Understand You
To Fuel Your Passion For Greatness
Sometimes people enter our lives because they have ulterior motives; they want to align themselves with you because of the positive or the negative things that you do in your lives, and they want a part of it. That is when you really have to search your soul and listen to that still small voice within and be obedient to it. We all want to be accepted...this is just a part of human nature, but some people go about it the wrong way and also at the expense of others even if it means destroying other people to achieve their goals and aspirations. I thank God that He's given me a discerning spirit because some people can be very persuasive, manipulative and deceptive. Knowing these things, I tend to hold on to my dreams, ideas and aspirations to myself until I am comfortable enough to share them with others. I have been blessed to have a few people in my life that wish me well; let me know when I'm right or wrong, agree and disagree with me. Those are the relationships that I cherish and will always hold dear because I know without a doubt that they love and want the best for me. It is also very hurtful when people say things about me because I did not let them into my space. I have to gather up the courage to push through all of the negativity and focus intensely and use that which is inside of me to combat the innuendo and degradation. Just before I began making plans for the 2012 En Sound Music Awards, I had to call some people and make them aware of my decision to change course by not including them this time around. None of my decisions was personal, it was just a business decision that I had to make for the sake of what I envisioned and to avoid excessive discourse. I thought that my decision would be taken with grace, instead it caused some falling out to the point where some of them unsubscribed themselves from my mailing list, removed me from their Facebook pages as their friends and started saying nasty things about me. That experience fueled me to execute one of my best events to date because I refused to let people block the vision and blessing that God had in store me. Ok, so the En Sound Music Awards took place and some were not very happy either because they were not included, or they nor their artist did not win. Others thought that more artists from a specific area should have been included, not understanding that the ESMA is an International event and must be reflective of that. To take it even farther, some were displeased with the outcome of certain categories not understanding fully that these artists were rewarded not only on the public votes but on a number of things: their promotional and marketing efforts, the quality of their work, and the efforts thry invested in
by Delroy Soudèn
their work, etc. Some did not read the requirements and so they totally missed those points. The En Sound Music Awards being an International event, does not mean that an artists has to be popular in America in order to win, there's a world that exists outside of America where artists are valued much more for their craft, and that artists can be popular in any country and on any continent and works hard wherever he or she is located, and deservingly win a trophy. When an artist or representative showed dishonesty in the voting process by casting close to a thousand individual votes in his favor and very little people voted for that artist, it shows dishonesty on the part that artist or representative, and that the artist does not have a fan base but was willing to do whatever it took to win a trophy. On the other hand, artists did not win specific category either because they did not have a full album that would have justified them winning that category, or they did not garner enough votes to justify a win. having a great voice alone just doesn't cut it! Here's what I really want to stick. As president and founder of the En Sound Music Awards, God gave me a clear vision of what this event should be and shouldn't be. 1. It cannot be just another sloppy mess of an award show. 2. I will not allow artists who are signed to major labels to perform at this event. 3. It will allow major artists to be involved as presenters and honorees only, if they want to. 4. The level, integrity and quality of artists nominated in the final round will always be maintained. 5. I will not be influenced by people who do not support but always have something to say. One disgruntled artist, rep or friend of an artist wrote, "I learned a lesson from this fiasco". making reference to the En Sound Music Awards. That's probably coming from someone who has never supported or spent $50 and felt entitled. Other award shows have academies and only those who are members that pay dues are allowed to vote and be nominated. Record labels pay big bucks to have their artists win specific categories. We're in an industry where money talks and BS walks... like it or not, and if you never supported financially or otherwise, you should never have been a part in the first place! Now I ask the question...why should the En Sound Music Awards be any different, why shouldn't it be structured and be supported by the indie artists that it serves, and why do some indie artists want everything for free when everything comes at a cost to us
who are in real business? I am saying this with major concerns, but the mainstream gospel music industry is what it is today because those who have made millions from it do not see the importance of giving back to it. They also do not see the importance of mentoring and nurturing fresh, new talents that will continue the vision, legacy and message of those who have gone on before like Mahalia Jackson, Thomas Dorsey, James Cleveland, Margaret Allison, Timothy Wright, Albertina Walker and others. The industry continues to operate like a secret society of sorts that is controlled by secular record companies that water down the gospel and creativity for the sake of the no-longer almighty dollars and a few big name artists who sing on stage and then go get their earthly fix immediately after a performance... let's be real about it! Some sit aside and criticize the young up and coming artists and their music ministries. They said that some of it is "devil" music, and yet the same ones who are saying these things are the ones who support secular artists and their music the most, and can be found up in the clubs on the weekends bumpin' and grindin', and in the pews on Saturday or Sunday mornings. When an artists sell out to secular labels, you tell me, what is holy and godly about that, and what makes you any better than the indie artists who sacrifice all that they've got to make music that relate to them and those who have struggled way too long, strung out on drugs, alcohol and other from of diseases and addictions who need to hear something that they can relate to? With all due respect, "Amazing Grace" was amazing back in the day and still is today, but just as those people back then wrote about their experience, artists in this generation are doing the very same thing but from different perspectives...DO NOT CRUSH THE VISION BECAUSE YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND IT! Please allow young people who have a passion for God and music to express themselves in the way they know how; elderly, step up and be mentors instead of haters, support the dream even if at first it seem difficult for you to understand. Just as traditional gospel music has a place in society back in the day and still is today, urban gospel music does have a place in society even though it may not be speaking or ministering to you in your language. Stop the hating and segregating and embrace change and new ideas. Not everything is of the devil, and if they were we all would be in hell already! © 2012 Writefully Said Publishing, a division of En Sound Entertainment
