In April we had the pleasure of partnering with Lloyd’s Register and ABIMAQ for the Lloyd’s Register Brazil Inspection Forum, which discussed the topic: Boilers and Pressure Clariss e Roch a Vessels: Understanding ASME Code and PED requirements.
We thank attendees for participating actively in the Q&A session at the end, and would like to remind our EIC members that the webinar recording is available to those that were not able to attend this event but would like to access the information.
Almost 500 people registered to attend the technical forum proving the importance of this discussion, which was addressed by Mr Alberto Machado, Oil & Gas Executive Director for ABIMAQ (The Brazilian Machinery Builders’ Association), who opened the event.

Celso Raposo, Lloyd’s Register Operations Manager for South America, and Mauro Borges, ASME Authorized Inspector & Supervisor for Lloyd’s Register then explained what both the ASME Code and the PED requirements are, their scope, norms and categorisations for both, as well as many other in-depth details. Finally, Mr Edevlado Campregher, Quality Manager at Hergen, a manufacturer, gave his insight on his experience of going through the certification and pros and cons for their business.

Argentina sees disruption to O&G production at Vaca Muerta
Argentina’s oil and gas output experienced a decline between March and April following disruption to production sites in Neuquén. They were caused by protests by health workers and truck drivers, who demanded pay increases amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Demonstrations have blocked roads to fields at the Vaca Muerta formation, paralysing 45 rigs.
Brazil’s 17th bidding round in October
The National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has released the bidding rules for the upcoming 17th round for O&G concessions in Brazil. Scheduled to take place on 7 October, the bidding round will offer 92 offshore exploration blocks across the Campos, Pelotas, Santos and Potiguar basins.
