Welcome to our digital programme for those of you watching tonight’s live streamed match at home, and a warm welcome to Caernarfon Town FC’s players, staff and management at Deeside this evening. If we were basing the right to be televised on performances so far this season, I think the cameras being here is justified by both our and Caernarfon’s start to the 2020/21 campaign. We’re still unbeaten after five games, on a run of four consecutive wins, and the Cofis sit fourth having just beaten Cardiff Met 3-0 on Saturday. We’ll also be going down to Cardiff this weekend, before making the trip to The New Saints next Tuesday in what is probably the biggest game of the season so far. Thankfully, that game is again being streamed online by Sgorio – we’re really grateful for the coverage to keep our fantastic fanbase connected with us during this unprecedented season. In an ideal world, the fans would be here with us for what is always a good midweek atmosphere at Deeside, but the reality is our games will remain behind closed doors for now – as soon as there’s an update, we’ll be letting you know on our website and socials asap.

Connah's Quay Nomads vs Caernarfon Town
FINAL HOME FIXTURE BEFORE AWAY TRIPLEHEADER Tuesday night will see The Nomads host Caernarfon Town in the JD Cymru Premier before heading on a trio of away matches. The match at Deeside Stadium will see The Nomads welcome fourth-placed Caernarfon Town, managed by exCefn Druids man, Huw Griffiths. Cofi’s Form Griffiths has guided his new side into fourth position in the early standings having won three and drawn one of their opening six fixtures in the league campaign with their most recent victory a televised 3-0 win away at Cardiff Met last Saturday evening. Prior to that, they had beaten Flint Town United 2-1 having lost out to both TNS and Barry the week before. Their first victory of the season came away at Newtown having drawn 1-1 with Penybont on the opening day. Previous Encounters The last time that Caernarfon came to Deeside was back in February - a night which saw a comfortable win for The Nomads thanks to a George Horan brace, with Craig Curran and Michael Bakare also getting on the scoresheet. The result was a significant one as the victory took The Nomads to the top of the table - a position we would not give up until the season was ended prematurely. The February before marked another encounter at Deeside Stadium, and it featured a high-scoring game as The Nomads came out 6-2 victors. As was the case on the weekend just gone, Callum Morris netted a hat-trick with goals from Michael Wilde, Michael Bakare and Adam Barton secured the three points for The Nomads.

From the gaffer Ahead of the game, Andy Morrison commented; ”We have set really high standards recently and all of the qualities that we have shown in recent games will have to be there against a very good Caernarfon side who have started the season really well. We will have a full squad to choose from except for George Horan and Jamie Insall who are both still missing through injury.” Connah's Quay Nomads vs Caernarfon Town 5
NOMADS DRAW WITH LAKESIDERS IN CLASH AT BALA
0-5
JD Cymru Premier Saturday 3rd October 2020 The Rock, Cefn Mawr, Wrexham, Wales
Wilde (21’, 85’) Morris (54’, 57’, 77’)
FIVE STAR NOMADS DEFEAT DRUIDS AT THE ROCK A second half hat trick from Callum Morris separated a brace from Michael Wilde in a dominant display from Andy Morrison’s side. • Nomads came into game as league leaders after three consecutive wins • Wilde goal opened scoring in the 20th minute • Callum Morris scores two inside five minutes before sealing hat trick with penalty • Wilde secures late brace to keep Nomads top The Nomads arrived in Cefn Mawr with confidence having won each of their past three games, with the most recent a 2-0 win over Aberystwyth on Tuesday evening. Andy Morrison made only two changes to his line up from that game, with Wilde and Morris replacing Declan Poole and Priestley Farquharson, who both went on to feature from the bench. Recently appointed Cefn Druids manager Bruno Lopes was meanwhile looking for his first win at the club, who sat bottom of the league with just 1 point on the board. His selection included keeper and captain Michael Jones, as well as ex-Bangor men Alex Darlington and Jamie Reed. Connah’s Quay started the game well and were soon moving up into the Druids’ final third, seen in the fifth minute when Danny Davies found Sameron Dool upfront who went to shoot but was found offside. Although Nomads were building up play nicely, they were dealt a blow after 10 minutes when summer signing Aeron Edwards was forced off with injury, leaving them with 10 men on the field until Declan Poole could replace him in the 15th.

Poole’s introduction proved key in the breakthrough, as after just five minutes on the pitch he assisted Wilde’s opener with a low cross converted at close range by the Nomads’ number nine. Buoyed by the goal, Nomads attacked the Druids’ end at regular intervals, going close in the 24th when Dool got a shot away at the edge of a busy area to have his effort blocked. Just before the half hour mark, Michael Wilde tried to double Nomads’ lead in spectacular fashion with a high bicycle kick from around eight yards out, but the effort went wide. Danny Davies then had a great chance to score in the 30th, seeing a low shot from 12 yards pushed out for a corner by the fingertips of keeper Jones who collected the resulting corner. Michael Wilde threatened constantly in the first half, seeing two close opportunities go amiss before half time when he tried to convert a low Davies’ cross in the 38th before firing just wide of the Druids goal after a Poole cross on 44 minutes. As the first half ended, the Nomads were in control having dominated the possession, and came out for the second still in search of more goals. Wilde again went close on 47 minutes, but keeper Jones continued his fine individual performance with a low save to deny the Nomads’ striker. But on 52 minutes, he was beaten by a great strike into the bottom left corner from 12 yards out by Callum Morris, who secured a brace within five minutes when he was able to edge the ball across the line in a goalmouth scramble in the 57th. Trailing by three goals and in urgent need of a way back into the game, Cefn Druids did go on a rare break upfront in the 59th, only to see Reed shoot wide from eight yards. It would prove to be the last chance for the hosts, as Nomads went on to again dominate the remaining half an hour of play. They made their second substitution on 67 minutes, introducing Farquharson in place of Dool to ensure the defence kept its discipline. After 70 minutes, the third substitution was made seeing Craig Curran depart for Aron Williams, who had work to do yet as part of a still-attacking Nomads strike force. In the 75th, they made it four and Callum Morris sealed his hat trick from the penalty spot after a handball was awarded by referee Dean John. Michael Wilde then topped off an excellent afternoon for Nomads with their fifth, and his much sought after brace, in the 83rd slotting in from a Davies cross. After two minutes of additional time, the Nomads’ five-goal victory was confirmed.

NOMADS DRAW WITH LAKESIDERS IN CLASH AT BALA
2-0
Disney (9’) Edwards (27’)
JD Cymru Premier Wednesday 30th September 2020 Deeside Stadium, Connah’s Quay, Wales
DOMINANT NOMADS AT THE DOUBLE AGAINST ABER Connah’s Quay Nomads defeated Aberystwyth Town by two goals to nil on Wednesday evening in the JD Cymru Premier at Deeside. A John Disney penalty sent Nomads ahead in the 9th minute, with an Aeron Edwards goal in the 27th enough to see Connah’s Quay take all three points. • Early Disney penalty gives Nomads advantage • Aeron Edwards slots in to secure two goal lead before the break • Nomads dominate amid flurry of chances • Andy Morrison’s side undefeated so far The game was Nomads’ fourth fixture of the JD Cymru Premier season, and they came into unbeaten after taking seven points from their first three matches. The latest of those was an emphatic 4-1 win over Haverfordwest County on Sunday, in which a brace from Craig Curran, plus goals from Declan Poole and Aeron Edwards overcame the Bluebirds. Andy Morrison made only one change from his previous line up, with Danny Holmes replacing Callum Roberts and Michael Wilde featuring on the bench alongside U19s Sam Williams and Harry Owen. Aberystwyth, who had so far taken five points from four games, started captain Marc Williams, Rhys Davies and a signing they had secured from Penrhyncoch just 24 hours before their trip to Deeside, defender Jonathan Foligno. The game started and much of it was played out in the midfield as Nomads sought to take control of possession, but the first chance went to Aberystwyth when Jamie Veale hit the crossbar with a chip shot over keeper Lewis Brass on five minutes. Nomads responded instantly, with Poole crossing well to Curran in the Aber area who headed high and up onto the roof of the net. 8
Connah's Quay Nomads vs Caernarfon Town
In the ninth minute, their pressure paid dividends as a handball was awarded seeing the referee point to the spot. With some of Nomads’ more recognised penalty takers unavailable, John Disney stepped up and made no mistake slotting into the left hand side of the net to make it 1-0. Having taken the lead, they were controlling possession well and causing problems in the final third for Aberystwyth, with centre half and acting captain Priestley Farquharson taking up a role upfront and linking up well with Declan Poole. Poole also helped Nomads win two corners as the game approached the 20th minute, and although they weren’t converted, they were utilised well to keep the ball in the visitor’s half thanks to some composed passing and good movement from Connah’s Quay. In the 27th, this possession again converted successfully when after a run from Poole saw Danny Davies receive the ball and run into the area before cutting it back to Aeron Edwards who slotted in on the edge of the box. Aeron Edwards led Nomads’ push for a third before the interval, and he nearly succeeded in the 37th minute when his low driving shot from 20 yards was pushed away by TNS loanee Connor Roberts in goal for Aberystwyth. Despite this, they went in at half time with the score remaining at 2-0 knowing they were fully in control of the proceedings so far at Deeside. After the restart, Aberystwyth looked won a free kick on 47 minutes, but Nomads dealt with this quickly before again taking up the majority of the possession. Nomads won a series of corner balls in the second half, seen in the 53rd when they won two consecutively before keeping the ball deep in the final third with long throw ins. On 58 minutes, Poole went close to making it three with a low effort from the edge of the area which went just wide. This was a chance which reflected the half with Connah’s Quay almost constantly creating chances on goal whilst Lewis Brass went untested in the Nomads’ goal. After the hour mark, Michael Wilde was introduced in place of Priestley Farquharson, and got involved up top straight away as a flurry of corner balls continued. On 69 minutes, Danny Davies, who was making good runs down the left wing for Nomads, scooped a ball up for Wilde who was at the Aberystwyth goalmouth, but the ball just evaded him as their search for a third went on. Jay Owen also nearly got himself on the team sheet when he shot at goal with a low effort from 22 yards, but saw it go just wide of the left post. Callum Morris then came on in place of Declan Poole and played a leading role in the final stage of the game, seeing multiple efforts stopped thanks to some brave defending from Aberystwyth and keeper Roberts. The attacking went on as the game entered its final 10 minutes, in which Andy Morrison made his final substitution replacing Aron Williams with Craig Curran. In the 90th minute Nomads still hadn’t given up, seeing Callum Morris shoot wide from 18 yards before Edwards had a certain goal cleared just a couple of yards from the goal line. A VIEW FROM THE STAND By Will Catterall
After so much time without football this year, the games are once again coming thick and fast in the JD Cymru Premier with our second midweek game in a row. Tonight is already our second game of seven this month, but we couldn’t have better form for this packed period of fixtures. After the 2-0 win over Aberystwyth last Wednesday, Saturday was another composed and professional performance at Druids to run out well deserved 5-0 victors. Who else but Callum Morris with a hat trick on the day, and Michael Wilde with a brace, to seal the win as we approach five years under Andy Morrison. They’ve both been massive players for us over these last five, history making seasons, and it’s always worth remembering what they and others have done for us over the years. From starting out in the relegation zone to winning the play-offs, beating Stabaek, and eventually lifting all three domestic trophies in Wales, it’s great to see them still performing at the top level for us. Speaking of playing at the top, there’s few who know how to survive and thrive more than tonight’s visitors, Caernarfon Town. They’ve been a breath of fresh for air for the league since promotion, and even without the Cofi Army travelling with them for now, they’ve started very well. Huw Griffith’s team come into tonight’s game sitting fourth in the league and off the back of a 3-0 win against Cardiff Met on the weekend, they’ll be right up for tonight’s game. Games against Caernarfon, and any Huw Griffiths-led team is always tough, and we’re going to be in for another battle tonight streamed live on Sgorio’s Facebook and YouTube channels – make sure you tune in! Score prediction: Nomads 2-1 Caernarfon Town Player of the week: Callum Morris There were plenty of excellent displays on Saturday, but it has to be Callum this week after his hat trick at The Rock. At 1-0 the game was still a battle, but his quickfire brace and subsequent penalty diffused it to put us in total control. Having scored our first ever European goal he’s currently scored 65 goals in 197 appearances – here’s hoping he adds even more to that tally this evening!
