EDITOR’S WELCOME Good evening and welcome to tonight's live televised game. We always know what a tough challenge awaits when TNS come to town, but Andy and the lads should have nothing to fear - two victories over them last season, 2-2 until the fog descended and a deflected single goal is the reflection of the last few encounters at Deeside, so what's to say we can't stop the "unstoppable force" today... we did it last season! Today's programme features an indepth review of the Club's first Goal of the Month competition, the winners of which will be awarded here today. We also look at our previous encounters and have a quick chat with our stand in centre half, John Disney. Thanks for reading and enjoy the game. Come on The Nomads! Nik

MATCH PREVIEW
First meet second live on Sgorio This evening's live televised game sees the top two sides in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League as The Nomads host top of the table TNS. The game marks the third encounter in little over a month with the sides playing out two very even cup games in the Nathaniel MG Cup at Deeside in November - the first thwarted by fog while the second saw TNS progress thanks to a deflected Scott Quigley strike. Since the two sides last met, The New Saints have continued their outstanding form, picking up victories over Airbus and Cardiff Met, scoring seven and conceding just one in the process, while The Nomads ensured that they bounced back from the Cup Semi-Final defeat, going on to defeat Rhyl and Cefn Druids in the league as well as Goytre United in the JD Welsh Cup. While the sides have met more recently in cup competition, the last time that TNS visited Deeside Stadium in the league saw goals from Callum Morris and Les Davies give The Nomads a 2-1 victory following a first half penalty from Christian Seargeant. Undoubtedly, Andy Morrison will be looking to continue his fine home league form against TNS, and ahead of kick off, Morrison said ; "We head into the game having secured a top six finish after last weekend's fixtures - we cemented our position mid-week with a very professional performance against a strong Druids side. The 1-0 win was not reflective of the performance and the game should have been out of sight by half time. What we showed yet again is if we get in front, we are a very hard team to beat and that's exactly how we will have to be this evening. Craig's team have already rewritten the history books this season and look an unstoppable force. A question was put to me by a reporter earlier this week, "If you had Horan, Kearney, Pearson and Wilde in your team, would you beat TNS?" My reply was I've had my strongest possible team against TNS and lost comfortably and I've beaten them with a weakened team, so it all comes down to the day. We will have to be at our very best and every individual at the top of their game." Morrison concluded by saying "Everyone is looking forward to the game and the opportunity to test themselves against the league's best team - it's a challenge my players will embrace."

Short strike sees Nomads defeat Druids A Lewis Short goal was enough to give The Nomads a victory over Cefn Druids in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League on Tuesday evening. The Nomads enjoyed a dominant first half performance following Short’s early goal, but were forced into a scrappy second half in order to secure an important three points which sends them six points clear of second-placed Bala Town, and nine points ahead of fourth placed Bangor City.
Jon Rushton started the game in goal for The Nomads after being recalled from his loan at Holywell Town due John Danby sustaining an injury in the recent cup clash with Goytre United. The lineup also saw a start for Chris Rimmer, John Disney and Wes Baynes. Cefn Druids meanwhile started two former Nomads in Kyle Parle and Corey Roper, with Steve Blenkinsop placed up front in order to try and cause problems for the home side at Deeside. The game began and Nomads immediately took control, with Lewis Short, Wes Baynes and Les Davies all driving forward towards the Cefn Druids goal. It took just nine minutes for the Deeside crowd to see a goal, with Lewis Short sending a powerful 25 yard effort in to give The Nomads the lead with a potential goal of the month contender. Following the goal, The Nomads established themselves as the leading side with the majority

of the possession, playing some good passing football in the Druids half. Nathan Woolfe gave Nick Rushton a goalscoring opportunity in the 19th minute, when his low cross just evaded Rushton in the centre of the Druids area. Druids looked to create chances but they were few and far between in the first half, with Stuart Cook seeing a strong 25 yard effort met by Jon Rushton in the centre of his goal. In the 25th minute, Les Davies made a run down the left wing and cut into the Druids area, only to have his low effort saved by goalkeeper Michael Jones. The Nomads continued to attack the Druids end, but went in at the interval with Short’s goal separating the two sides. In the second half, The Nomads were forced to defend well at various intervals as Druids looked for an equaliser. Blenkinsop went on a run towards goal, but his header went wide of goal before Lewis Short had another long range effort which went wide in the 51st minute. As the hour mark approached, The Nomads made a change, bringing on Declan Poole in place of Nick Rushton. Cefn Druids looked to threaten The Nomads' goal and gradually became more of a threat, with John Rushton saving a 20 yard effort from Fisnik Hajdari. The Nomads then replaced Nathan Woolfe with Sean Smith, a substitution which came just before Jay Owen sent a low cross towards Davies in the Druids area who missed out on a clinical finish. With The Nomads leading by just one goal, the last quarter of play saw Druids force a number of deep throw-in’s and corner balls to put pressure on The Nomads. Their final change of the evening saw Callum Morris go off for Ashley Ruane. With the likes of Les Davies and Chris Rimmer making big clearances, The Nomads succeeded in defending their lead to the 90th minute, but faced an additional four minutes of play through injury time. With 92 minutes played Naim Arsan sent a powerful effort towards the bottom left corner of The Nomads' net with Jon Rushton making a fine save to deny him. The resulting corner ball was then cleared, ending the last real action of the game. Referee Mark Petch blew his whistle to conclude the game, which will not be remembered as a classic but another vital win for The Nomads on their quest for automatic European qualification.

A VIEW FROM THE STAND
BY WILL CATTERALL Hello and welcome to Deeside where it’s great to be hosting a huge fixture in the run up to Christmas. Just a few seasons ago this game would barely generate interest from the most ardent of fans, but now it’s one of the biggest in Welsh Football. Thanks to some fog this game is our fourth meeting with The New Saints already this season, but that won’t make it any less of a clash of Welsh Premier League giants here this evening. The past season saw a new rivalry between ourselves and TNS unfold, and another chapter will be added in front of live Sgorio cameras this evening. Just under a year ago we were beaten 3-2 by Airbus on New Years Day 2016. With one game to play in phase one, against The New Saints, our hopes of a top six finish looked slim at best. But these were the early days of Andy Morrison’s reign, and we hadn’t yet seen his side face up to the Champions. Against the odds, we beat them 2-0 to secure top six football at the death, and then took two points off them at Park Hall, and then came from 1-0 behind at Deeside to once again get a home victory against the Saints. The times have changed, and we’re one of, if not the biggest threat to The New Saints’ incredible run so far this season. With a squad still struggling with injury it will be tough, but a good atmosphere at Deeside could help us create more great memories tonight. The past few weeks have been tough, but three consecutive wins over Rhyl, Goytre United and Cefn Druids have shown we get through rocky fixtures to take victories. With top six qualification now sealed, we must focus on getting a win tonight to consolidate our all important position of second. Tonight is our fourth last game of phase one, with our traditional Christmas double over Airbus on the 26th away and the 30th at home. A break follows before another massive game away to Bala on the 14th January. Enjoy the game tonight and have a great Christmas. Nomads Ultras Prediction: The Nomads 2-1 The New Saints Nomads Ultras' Player of the Week: Lewis Short His goal last week was just one element of Short’s game, which has been pivotal for us this season so far. His strength and pace make him a handful for any team, and his performances against Stabaek and Vojvodina helped make our European adventure a massive success. We’re sure we’ll see more quality from Lewis tonight.

GREEN'S PIECE
BY TREVOR GREEN Good Evening and welcome to the Deeside Stadium. Tonight we welcome the best team in the Welsh Premier League. Matches against TNS are always a challenge for the eleven semi-professional clubs who compete with the full timers from The Venue. Earlier in the season we played them at Park Hall and we played quite well from start to the 70th minute, but once they had scored the job became too difficult and they added two more. 3-0 was harsh but it’s what they do. However, here and on a grass surface we have done well against them. Last year we won both home games and became the first side to defeat them twice in a season in this decade. In the League cup semi final played here recently we went down 0-1 but deserved better, so there is hope of becoming the first team this season to take a point off them. If only we had the injured players back in action. We welcome everyone from Oswestry tonight, Craig and his players, Mike and his officers and their supporters. That we are playing them in the Saturday live game on S4C is not a surprise, top against second makes this a big game. On Tuesday night, once again we struggled to score against Druids, the Cefn Mawr outfit are becoming a bit of a bogey team for us. The performance was not the best, but the win was our first against them since the 7th April 2012. Lewis Short's 9th minute long range pile driver should have opened the floodgates but the fact it was the game's only goal was due to a good last minute save from a flying Jon Rushton. His period on loan at Holywell has done him no harm and he returned match fit and sharp. The goal unlike the game was well worth travelling out on a cold night to see, but how often does it need saying - a win is a win is a win. 10

Ray Brown informed me that it was our 300th win in the Welsh Premier League. Our overall record is Played 780, Won 300, Drawn 180 and Lost 300. Symmetrical or what, he rightly said! We are confirmed in the top six and one more point means the lowest we can turn round into phase two will be 4th. We want to hold onto second place over a Bala side that have come on like a train in recent weeks. They and ourselves are chased by Bangor City. Cardiff Met who look like securing fifth and the sixth place winners will not catch us. These are Bala, Bangor and our remaining games. Team

CLUB GOAL OF THE MONTH November has seen The Nomads launch our first ever Club Goal of the Month competition with First Team Manager, Andy Morrison picking the top three and commenting on each goal shortlisted. Check out Andy's comments below and watch the goals for yourself on The Nomads' YouTube page.
Under 8 - Alfie Griffiths vs Prestatyn Town (30/11/2016) AM: "The pleasing thing is that he gets his shot off early before the 'keeper can actually set himself - he gets the ball out of his feet and it's a great strike."
Under 9 - Luka Salvatore vs Chester FC (04/11/2016) AM: "It's one of my favourite goals from the collection - he actually shows great strength, but the pleasing thing is he moves the ball twice with his right foot across his body and on to his left and then hits a terrific shot which ends up in the top corner."
1st
Under 10 - Isaac Godwin vs Crewe Alexandra (18/11/2016) AM: "Isaac's is a terrific left foot shot - what you actually see is that the ball is still rising as it hits the back of the net. I would say that there's no wall in there which might have made it a little bit difficult but let's give Isaac the benefit of the doubt because he's actually seen the corner available and it's a fantastic strike."
Under 11 - Noah Sumner vs Airbus UK (05/11/2016) AM: "Noah takes the ball with his left thigh and then strikes a volley with his right - a terrific skill and great reading and awareness of the situation to see that the 'keeper's off his line and actually be able to chip it over him from probably 20-25 yards."
Under 12 - Matty Dewhurst vs Chester FC (04/11/2016) AM: "It's pleasing to see a young lad actually pull off on the shoulder and anticipate the pass - for me his run makes up the mind of the midfielder, he catches him out on the blind side of the second centre-half and then calmly puts the ball away - a terrific finish."
12
The Nomads vs The New Saints
3rd
Under 13 - Callum Tipper vs Chester FC (11/11/2016) AM: "Very similar to Isaac's goal - it's a left foot and it's still rising when it hits the net - terrific technique and a great strike."
Under 14 - Ben Thompson vs Bangor City (27/11/2016) AM: "Ben's actually looks a simple finish but sometimes they're the hardest things to do. To see the ball coming from as far as it did and then make the perfect contact and just slot it... what Ben's done is make it look very easy and it's never easy in front of goal to finish the chances off." Under 15 - James Worthington vs Flint Town United (20/11/2016) AM: "The positive thing from James is he's actually broke forward, whereas the two strikes earlier on from the left footers which hit the top corner, the 'keepers had no chance, but I do think the 'keeper could have done a bit better with this, although still it's great to give himself the opportunity to get his shot off and he finds the top corner." Under 16 - Junior Scott vs Flint Town United (13/11/2016) AM: "A terrific effort and the pleasing thing for me is, which I try and get my point across to the first team is to actually break through the lines when you actually catch a team on the counter and win the ball back early - Junior actually breaks through the lines and hits the ball very early, a fantastic strike."
2nd
Academy Scholars - Jay Coppack vs Coleg Meirion Dwyfor (29/11/2016) AM: "It's a cross come shot and I'll have to, when I see Jay next time, I'm going to have to ask him whether he actually meant to put it in the top corner or whether he tried to cost the ball - you have a look at it and I'll let you be the judge" First Team - Nathan Woolfe vs Llandudno (13/11/2016) AM: "If you have a look at the wall, I think the wall's probably too far away, the wall's not setup in the right position - the 'keeper's not moved his feet quick enough and the ball's gone literally in the middle of the goal so I can't give Woolfie a great deal of credit for the goal!"

NOMADS' ARCHIVE
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE 2007/08 BY DAVID RAPSON Wholesale changes at the Club followed Neville Powell’s departure to Bangor City during the early weeks of the close season. Many established players moved on, seven of them following Powell to Farrar Road. Former Head of Youth Development at Chester City, Jim Hackett was appointed to the managerial post at the Deeside Stadium with ex-Congleton Town boss Andy Lee as his assistant and the pair set about building a new squad few of whom had experience of the Welsh Premier League. Only six players from the previous campaign (Stuart Cook, Adam Dickinson, Chris Melia, Gary Pinch, Phil McDiarmid and Chris Williams) remained loyal to The Nomads while there was a considerable influx of players from Andy Lee’s former club. Our first two league games were against the two newly-promoted clubs; Llangefni Town and Neath Athletic. Then, on the eve of the season, we learned of the death of Club President Ron Morris J.P. at the early age of 66. The Nomads owed a huge debt of gratitude to Ron for his input over many years during which time he had been team manager and chairman. A huge number of friends and relatives attended his funeral on the day before the new season kicked-off. The 2007/08 campaign started well with a 2-1 win at Llangefni where the home side took the lead before John McAllister headed an equaliser on 40 minutes. After the break, Stuart Cook struck a post before Chris Williams’ 78th minute penalty earned us the three points. As if the summer had not been traumatic enough, just two days before the Neath game another Nomads stalwart, Geoff Thelwell, passed away. Geoff began as a player back in 1946, the year the club was formed, and remained loyal forevermore be it as player, secretary or scout along with a myriad of other jobs. Against Neath, we started on the back foot but took the lead against the run of play on 15 minutes when Adam Dickinson (back from Australia) unleashed a volley from 20 yards out. The only luck the Club seemed to be having that year was bad luck for within minutes Dickinson had to be stretchered off with ligament damage - his season over already. Moments later, Neath were awarded a penalty but Paul Pritchard made a superb stop as he had at Llangefni and Chris Williams sealed the points with his second penalty of the season. A well-earned 1-1 draw at Caernarfon Town followed leaving us just two points off the top of the table. Neville Powell made a quick return to the Stadium bringing his Bangor City outfit for a League Cup game which the visitors won 0-3 and this result seemed to undermine our bright start. A 1-1 draw at home to Newtown followed but the ‘wheels came off’ at Haverfordwest a week later. For the second time in three seasons the long trip south was bedevilled by traffic problems and our coach arrived only minutes ahead of the kick-off. Nevertheless, when Chris Melia scored just after the break to make it 2-3, we were still in the game but in a surreal ending County struck three more goals inside ten minutes to 18

send us packing. Being involved in three cup competitions meant the autumn fixture list was rather congested with the team having to fulfil 15 fixtures in September and October and 27 different players featured in the first dozen games of the campaign. Results were haphazard too. A 2-5 loss away to NEWI Cefn Druids was unexpected coming just six days after we had put The New Saints out of the Welsh Cup on penalties. Caersws were despatched by the odd goal in seven before our Welsh Cup hopes took a dive when we lost at home to Guilsfield – a mid-table Cymru Alliance side. In his programme notes for the WPL visit of Bangor City on Friday 9th November, Jim Hackett wrote; “Both of our clubs stand together on 15 points in the middle group of teams in the WPL. Thus, tonight’s match looks a pretty even affair and I’m hoping that the spectators will see a well-contested match.” It is worth noting that our two League Cup games earlier in the season against The Citizens had witnessed us losing 0-3 and 0-4, so maybe Jim was being rather too optimistic. In fact this was the game that turned our season sour. Bangor romped away with it as poor Paul Forester had the collect the ball from the back of his net on seven occasions, Sion Edwards notching a hat-trick as the night went from bad to worse. A terrible run of results saw The Nomads slump as nine successive league games brought us three points (from a 2-0 home win over Llangefni Town) and eight losses during which we scored four goals and conceded 35! It was nine years ago this month that we travelled to Carmarthen Town and found ourselves 6-0 down after 24 minutes, that man Tim Hicks netting four of them and adding another a bit later as The Old Gold ran out 8-0 victors. If that was the nadir, a 0-5 loss at home to Rhyl on Boxing Day was just as hard to swallow. A single goal was enough for Rhyl to complete a league double on New Year’s Day but thankfully 2008 brought us a little respite. Tom Rowlands scored in a 1-0 home win over Caernarfon Town and after a 1-1 draw at Welshpool, NEWI Cefn Druids were defeated 2-1 a week later thanks to a Chris Herbert penalty and a late winner from McAllister. Herbert scored again from the spot in each of the next two games as well although the first, in a 1-6 defeat at Aberystwyth, was of little consolation. His penalty ‘hat-trick’ did at least gain a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Haverfordwest County and the following weekend Sam McNutt scored his first goal for The Nomads which was enough to secure a double over Caersws. Away draws at Airbus UK Broughton (0-0) and Porthmadog (3-3 – with all the goals in the first 50 minutes) virtually sealed our league safety before we opposed the top two sides Llanelli and TNS. Free of relegation worries, the players were able to enjoy those games despite narrow defeats and approached the last game of the campaign, at home to Carmarthen Town, with their eyes on avenging that 0-8 defeat at Richmond Park. This time it was Connah’s Quay who started on fire. Two goals in the first nine minutes set the tone and McNutt added a third before the interval. The Old Gold came back strongly and when Sacha Walters scored his second of the game with just 13 minutes remaining it was all square at 3-3. Then, as in the first game back in August, Chris Williams scored the decisive goal with ten minutes left making our centre-back equal top scorer for the club with five goals, the same as strikers Herbert and McAllister. All told, 34 different players featured in The Nomads’ 34 League fixtures but safety was achieved and a demanding season had a happy ending. The Nomads vs The New Saints

TNS' HISTORY
The New Saints of Oswestry Town play in the Welsh Premier League, the national football league of Wales. The club is the product of a merger between Llansantffraid and Oswestry Town football clubs and immortalised on Sky TV, when presenter Jeff Stelling commented: “They’ll be dancing in the streets of Total Network Solutions tonight!” About Oswestry Town Founded in 1860, making them one of the world’s oldest football clubs, Oswestry Town FC were also founder members of the Football Association of Wales in 1876 – a rare achievement for an English club. In their long history, they’ve competed in the Northern Premier League, Cheshire League and Cymru Alliance. Despite several successes including reaching the FA Cup first round and winning the Cheshire League, the club went into financial decline. In the late 1980s, Oswestry Town were forced to sell their Victoria Road ground to pay mounting debts and the club folded completely. The re-formed club opted for Welsh football and played in the Cymru Alliance/Welsh Premier from 1995/6 to 2003. After being initially refused entry to the League of Wales on ground criteria, Oswestry moved to the Park Hall athletics stadium and considerable improvements were carried out to reach Welsh Premier standards, although the ground was still a long way from meeting the modern standards of the Welsh Premier.

The Nomads vs The New Saints
About Llansantffraid From the small Welsh village of Llansantffraid, and nicknamed the ‘Saints’, the unassuming team began life playing in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League in 1959. Here it achieved considerable success, winning numerous honours. The Montgomeryshire League Championship (1969, 1970, 1971, 1983, 1987) and the Montgomeryshire Cup competition six times between 1963 and 1976. In addition, Llansantffraid were Village Cup winners seven times, up to the nineties. In 1989/90 the club was saved from the brink of closure, with action which saw them climb through the Welsh pyramid system into the Mid-Wales League. In 1990/91 Llansantffraid were promoted to the Cymru Alliance, where they finished second and missed out on entry into the newly-formed League of Wales. Determined to progress, the club raced to the Championship just 12 months later and 1992/93 season saw Llansantffraid finish top and take their place in the League of Wales for the 1993/94 season. They were the first club to climb three rungs of the pyramid to reach the top division. Total Network Solutions In the 1997/98 season Llansanffraid changed their name to Total Network Solutions (TNS), following a lucrative sponsorship deal with an Oswestrybased computer networking specialist owned by entrepreneur Mike Harris. The partnership was working – in 1999/00 the club finally reached the pinnacle of Welsh Football when, in an exciting finale, TNS beat Barry Town to the league title and qualified for the European Cup.
More success followed, with qualification in European competition becoming an annual event, including glamour ties with Manchester City (2002/03) and Liverpool (2004/05). In 2003 the club’s phenomenal success meant the ground at Llansantffraid was no longer fit for purpose and there were no other suitable sites in the village that would sustain a full-time football club. The Chairman was forced to look for an alternative site to develop the club facilities. Merger On 7 June 2003, it was announced that Oswestry Town was to merge with Total Network Solutions, with the aim of playing at a new stadium in Oswestry from 2005/06. The troubled Oswestry Town was saved from Bankruptcy by Mike Harris, who cleared the debts of Oswestry Town, financed the merger and made both teams part of his plan for Welsh football domination. Both sides brought something unique to the newly formed club. Llansantffraid’s success in Wales and its reputation for playing in European competition and Oswestry Town’s rich history both in England and Wales. Oswestry’s Park Hall ground could be redeveloped into a facility was a recipe for further success for Chairman Mike Harris and his vision for the future of the united team. The newly-formed team continued to play in both the green of Llansantffraid and the blue of Oswestry Town and retain both club names on the shirt.
Saints FC. The new name captured the spirit of both clubs – including Saint Oswald and Saint Ffraid. The club’s new crest featured the Welsh dragon and English lion present in the clubs’ previous badges. A New Ground The dream was realised in 2007 when TNS played their first game at Park Hall Stadium, totally unrecognisable from the ground that Oswestry had used in their later years. Redeveloped at a cost of more than £3 million, Park Hall has a state-ofthe-art 3G pitch and planning permission for 3,000 seats. It also features a major leisure development known as The Venue, with changing rooms, match officials’ rooms, function rooms, a 10 pin bowling alley, bar and catering facilities, an indoor children’s soft play area and a gym. The facilities benefit the whole of the community in its wider context creating a family entertainment facility in the heart of Oswestry which caters for all ages and abilities.
A New Name Following the sale of Total Network Solutions to BT in 2006, the club changed its name to The New The Nomads vs The New Saints
