CAROLINE’S DÓTERRA ESSENTIAL OILS

CAROLINE’S POD OF POSITIVITY

Welcome to my weekly column. My name is Caroline and as a certified DóTERRA essential oil specialist I have been delighted to help, guide and support so many people along with their friends and families on their essential oil journey throughout North Kerry and West Limerick. I know how these oils can support the Body, the Mind and the Mood and each week I’ll be sharing lots of tips and information on Self-Care, Wellness, Love and Gratitude when using DóTERRA’S essential oils as part of your every day routine.

LOVE YOURSELF FIRST BEFORE YOU LOVE ANYONE ELSE!

This weekend is associated with Love and the Valentine in one’s life. However I like to think of this time as a time for Self-Love and the Love that we need to have for ourselves. Self-Love is the foundation of all success and it can bring so much good into your life. You need to love yourself first before you love anyone else whether that is your children, your partner, your friends, whoever it may be in your quality world, you need to show yourself some Self-Love and Self-Care first.

Grapefruit and Frankincense are two of dóTERRAS essential oils that I like to use this time of year as they can support us in our Self-Care routine. Grapefruit is referred to as the forbidden fruit and one of the Seven Wonders of Barbados. It is known for its energising, invigorating and uplifting aroma and is an excellent pick-me-up to our emotions. Diffuse this oil in your coldwater diffuser and add a drop or two to your daily drinking water to give you an uplifting and happy feeling. In the evening or before you go to bed have a relaxing bath, light a candle, and add three to four drops of Grapefruit and Frankincense to the bath water for pure tranquillity.

Both of these oils are very beneficial to the skin and it is recommended to add one to two drops of each to your face cream. As Frankincense is the most scared of all oils, it is a very fitting one for this month and is at the top of the list in the Wellness Pyramid. Known as the King of essential oils a nice practice is to use topically over your heart and crown chakra before meditation or yoga. I like to take a drop under my tongue especially before I write my gratitude list in my Journal.

All of DóTerras essential oils and products can be purchased from Caroline’s Pod of Positivity on their own or as part of a Kit to support you and your family. These oils are a natural solution to care for our needs and our family’s health needs and they can support us in many of the following areas: Anxiety Issues, Digestive Support, Sleep Assist, Muscle Care, Stress Buster, Depression, Grief, Energy Boost, Skin Support, Immunity, Allergy Assist and so much more.

DóTERRA knows that essential oils must be pure and potent in order to best fulfill the needs of those that use them. Too often, essential oils available for purchase contain contaminants and filler substances that weaken the essential oil’s effectiveness. With the sole purpose to provide pure and potent essential oils, doTERRA ensures that their oils are free of harmful contaminants and fillers through the CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade™ protocol and how lucky are we that DōTerra now have their own manufacturing plant in Blarney Business Park in Cork.

Using DóTERRA’S Essential Oils: Topically: Apply the oils onto your skin particularly on the pulse points and soles of the feet. Aromatically: Place two to three drops into a cold-water diffuser and diffuse the oils in your home, classroom, office space, salons or other places of work and business. Internally: Add the oils to your favourite food, waters and drinks, or simply by taking one drop daily under the tongue to support your body and mind.

You can check out my Facebook page Caroline’s Pod of Positivity where I have information and videos on all of the essential oils. To book your consultation or oil experience appointment you can reach me on the number below and together we will start you on your journey of health and wellness using DóTERRA’S essential oils along with my full support and guidance.

I leave you with a thought for the week: Self-Love is the source of all our other Loves

Well done to the Causeway Comprehensive U16 Boys Basketball team who were beaten by 9 points today 59-50 by an excellent St Finnian’s Mullingar side in the All Ireland Quarter finals in Dublin.

The boys had a difficult start and were down by 10 after 3 minutes with the rings proving tricky. The Causeway boys rose to the challenge to reel Mullingar into 26-22 just before half time. The game ebbed and flowed with Causeway playing superb defence and stopping Mullingar getting into any rhythm. With 1 minute 30 left on the clock Causeway threw everything at them and went close with two 3 pointers, which would have set up for an interesting finale. However it wasn’t to be with the clock ticking out and their opponents finishing stronger. The Causeway boys can hold their heads high on a superb performance against a school who recently won the All Ireland Cup by 30 Points.

A massive thank you to all the parents who have helped out over the season, and with a regional title and an All-Ireland Cup medal in the bag it has been a hugely successful year. Special thanks to our Coach Mr Stephen O’Connor assisted by Billy McGaley”

SAN RITA WELLNESS

Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column…We hope you are safe and well

Welcome to San Rita Wellness weekly column

Love is in the air and as it’s Valentines Day next Tuesday it might be worth asking ourselves...

What is Love?

Someone once said “ Love is an understanding or a misunderstanding between two fools “ Love comes in many ways, shapes and forms. This week, we are looking at three different kinds of love.

The foods we LOVE, the people we LOVE and the different ways we can LOVE ourselves.

Foods we LOVE ♥️

At San Rita Wellness we believe that it is important to find a way to still have the foods you love without feeling guilty, and that’s why our plan works so well for our members. We all know that if you have to deprive yourself of something it only makes you want it all the more. So, with consideration everything in moderation. It is important to us all to be able to still have the foods we love and still feel in control of our weight.

Tips:

* Look on them as a treat rather than a threat.

* Quality over Quantity, ie. go for a good quality chocolate rather than a cheaper brand.

* Choosing lower calorie meals during the day allows you to have a more indulgent evening meal.

* Keep active and burn calories to allow you to indulge a little at this time special time.

People we LOVE ♥️

Having the love and support from the people around you is a very important part of a person’s wellness journey. We all love some time on our own but there are other times when we need the company of others. We all love for example catching up with our friends either in person or over the phone. So lets look at how the people you love can help you on your Weight loss and Wellness journey.

Tips:

* Go for a walk together as a family.

* Play cards or a board game in the evening time as very often this can be a danger time for snacking.

* Ask them to keep their treats out of sight from you as they may tempt you.

* Get everyone involved with you on a fun workout on You Tube etc.

Self Care and LOVE ♥️

Loving yourself is not selfish. Make yourself a priority. Schedule in some “ME” Time. Don’t wait for the time to just magically appear. It won’t. If you don’t show love to yourself , you can’t expect anyone else to show love to you. It is also important to keep in mind how you speak to yourself. When you look in the mirror every morning start your day by giving yourself a compliment.

Tips:

* Dress up every morning and put on make up.

* Have a pamper night, a relaxing bath, apply a face mask and paint your nails.

* Every day set 10 or 15 mins aside without any distractions just for yourself.

* A walk in the beautiful town park or the beach can be beneficial to both your mindset and your body.

So to finish up a little Valentines thought,

Don’t shower me with flowers

Don’t dance with me for hours

Don’t take me out to dinner

Just say “ I’m looking slimmer “

Listowel’s

SOMEONE ELSE’S SHOES

Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else’s shoes?

MEET SAM

She’s not got much, but she’s grateful for what she has: a job she’s just about clinging on to and a family who depend on her for everything. She knows she’s one bad day away from losing it all - and just hopes today isn’t it . . .

MEET NISHA

She’s got everything she always dreamed of - and more: a phenomenally rich husband; an international lifestyle; and . . . she’s just been locked out of all of it after her husband initiates divorce proceedings . . . Sam and Nisha should never have crossed paths. But after a bag mix-up at the gym, their lives become intertwined - even as they spiral out of control. Each blames the other as they feel increasingly invisible, forgotten, lost - and desperately alone.

But they’re not. No woman is an island. Look around. Family. Friends. Strangers. Even the woman you believe just ruined your life might turn out to be your best friend.

Because together you can do anything - like take back what is yours . . .

ST. BLAISE

Friday 3 February was the Feast of St. Blaise and Fr Hussey blessed the throats at Mass in St Mary’s Church on Friday last. Who was St Blaise?, Blaise was the Bishop of Sabaste in what is now Turkey. He had a great love of animals. While he was in prison awaiting execution, during a period of anti- Christian persecution, a Christian woman brought him two tall candles to light up his cell. The next day another woman visited him carrying her little boy who was choking on a piece of fish bone that was stuck in his throat. Blaise made a cross from the two candles, laid it against the child’s throat and blessed him. Immediately the bone was dislodged and the child was saved. St. Blaise died c. 316 and on his Feast Day or the Sunday closest to it, Catholics have their throats blessed in Church.

BEALE GAA

Beale seniors secured our opening points in the North Kerry League, Division 1A, with victory over near neighbours, Ballybonohue, on Bank Holiday Monday in Páirc de Staic. It was tit for tat at this local derby on the scoreboard and the field of play The teams were level at the short whistle and exchanged points early in the second half.

Little separated the teams right through and we were on equal par going into the final quarter. A goal from the penalty spot followed by a quick point gave us a 4-point advantage but sharp shooting Ballybonohue punished us with frees and reduced our lead to just two points as the clock ticked. We held on and ran out victorious by 1-9 to 1-7.

We now look forward to meeting Duagh this weekend in round 3.

The Beale Social is on Saturday in the Golf Club. Dinner 7.00pm sharp, followed by music and dance. A few tickets still available. Contact John Hannan, Colm Kissane or The Railway. ASDEE GAA

North Kerry league Division 2. Round 2, Moyvane 6-15 Asdee 0-2 a seriously under strength Asdee team came up against Moyvane in Round 2 of the North Kerry League Division 2 at Jack Walsh Park on Sunday morning last. Moyvane had a 30-man squad to pick from, while Asdee were down 10 of their squad which proved a near impossibility against a near full strength and experienced visiting side. Moyvane were on the scoresheet as early as the first minute followed by goals from Donie Stack, Michael Fogarty and Rian Quinn and at half time led 3-7 to no reply. In fairness the game was long over as Moyvane continued to impress and a further 3 goals Donie Stacks second P J Mulvihill, (2). Asdee did get on the scoreboard with Patrick Mulvihill and Mike Brosnan points. Asdee have a couple weeks to go before they get their squad back close to near full strength but will be happy with their younger players fitting into the setup especially new to senior football, Patrick Mulvihill and John Daly.

DUAGH /LYRE COMM GAMES

U13 Futsal Girls

A welcome return to the Community Games indoor programme last weekend saw our u13 girls competing for the first time since 2020.

Congratulations to Duagh/Lyre u13 girls futsal team on Saturday coming away with bronze medals after a fantastic competition. The girls were unlucky in their first game losing 2-0 to Spa/Fenit/Barrow, in the second game winning 2-0 to Listowel, in the 3rd game a draw 0-0 with the eventual winners Castleisland and Duagh/Lyre unlucky not to score in the dying minute a deflection off the post by the keeper, the final game against Ballyduff 1-1, if Duagh/Lyre had won it would have been silver. A super competition with a fantastic atmosphere and the first indoor competition for Kerry Community Games after covid-19. Team: Sadie Duffy, Kate Sheridan, Caoimhe Fitzgerald, Chloe Danagher, Siún Kirby, Saidhbh Hanley, Olivia O’Brien and Lucy Hallissey. Manager Jason Harte, Assistant Aoibhínn Harte. Thanks to Neilus Collins for a well run competition and to all teams for a very sporting day and making fantastic memories.

U13 Indoor Soccer boys

Sunday was the turn of the Duagh/Lyre Community Games u13 boys indoor soccer team. 19 teams entered in total with two groups running in Duagh sports complex and two groups in Milltown. Our u13 team put up a great battle on the day playing Abbeydorney/Kilflynn in the first game going up 3-0 at half time and unfortunately going down 5-3. In the second game v Ardfert/ Kilmoyley going up 3-1 at half time and missing out 4-3 in the end. In the third game v Spa/Fenit/Barrow ending in a 3-3 draw, the final game winning against Castleisland 2-1. With only one team from the group going through to the semi finals the boys were close on the day. Great experience gained and plenty soccer played. Well done to all the boys. Team: Fionn Doorley, John Ryan, Jack Sheehy, Cian O’Connor, Adam Shanahan, Liam Dennehy, Liam Galvin, Charlie Watson. Managers Declan O’Connor and Jerry Shanahan. Castleisland Desmonds 2.05 v Brosna 2.05

Match Report: by Castleisland Desmonds GAA

Desmonds and Brosna share the spoils in North Kerry. Castleisland Desmonds shared the spoils with neighbours Brosna, in Round 2 of the North Kerry Senior Football league on Thursday night.

The Division 1A match was played under lights in Mountcollins, in front of a large attendance, in drizzley and blustery conditions.

The game got off to a lightning start with Brosna taking an early lead through midfielder Timmy Finnegan, Graham O’Connor quickly responded for Desmonds, before Tom Fitzgearld put Brosna ahead on 5 minutes. Brosna had a goal chance on 6 minutes, but Desmonds goalie Steven Bartlett closed down the angle and the Brosna forward found the side netting. The game continued from end to end, with the Brosna keeper making a point blank save from a Ruairí Burke effort. Kieran O’Donnell and Maurice Hickey traded points, before Adam O’Donoghue levelled proceedings from a 40 yard free on the quarter mark. A long range Luka Brosnan effort raised a white flag on 16 minutes, but referee Ger O’Carroll overruled the call, judging it to have sailed to the left of the post. The game ebbed and flowed, before Steven Bartlett made a stunning save on the 20 minute mark. Both sides traded wides before we had the games first goal, an unstoppable effort from Jack O’Sullivan; this was followed up four minutes later with Jamie O’Sullivan netting, leaving Brosna 2.3 to 3 points to the good on 28 minutes. Adam O’Donoghue pointed from a free in injury time to leave Brosna five ahead at the interval. Half time score: Brosna 2.03 – Desmonds 0.04.

The second half started with a Maurice Hickey run through the heart of the Brosna defence, leading to an Adam O’Donoghue point. The game ran from end with both sides missing opportunities over the minutes that followed. Desmonds introduced Pat Fitzgerald and Dominic Finnegan for Seán Prendeville and Ryan Maguire respectively. Both teams created chances before the game was delayed due to an injury to Dominic Finnegan. Tadgh O’Shea replaced Dominic on the resumption of play.

On 45 minutes Thomas Conway and Adam Donoghue combined for Desmonds to work through the Brosna lines, before Denis O’Connor finished off the move, with a fisted effort to the net, for Desmonds first goal; leaving the minimum between the sides – Brosna 2.3 – Desmonds 1.5. Two long range Tom McGoldrick frees put a goal between the sides again. Before a well worked Desmonds attack ended up with Denis O’Connor finding the bottom left corner of the net, for his second goal of the game. Colm Roche replaced Thomas Conway on the Desmonds side for a cagey final 8 minutes. Both sides had chances to clinch the victory in the closing minutes of the game, but ultimately couldn’t find the winner. Leaving the scores deadlocked and the points shared at referee Ger O’Carroll’s final whistle.

Full time score: Desmonds 2.05 (11) – Brosna 2.05 (11)

Huge credit and thanks to Mountcollins GAA club for the use of their fantastic facilities and ground for the game, and to the referee Ger O’Carroll for a free flowing game of football. OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

Oh, most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven.

Blessed Mother of the Son of God; Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me you are my Mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succour me in my necessity

(Mention your request here)

There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3 times). Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3 times). Amen

This prayer is never known to fail. It is to be said for 3 consecutive days. Publication on granting of the favour must be promised and done. T.C.

MEANING OF LIFE

“Oh l just don’t know where to start, we’ve so much stuff to pack!!”

I don’t envy my friend moving house. It’s a daunting task.

Her words got me thinking. I often say that l am so glad we don’t have to pack for our final journey to eternity. I mean, wouldn’t it just be your worst nightmare? You’d be packing, changing your mind, unpacking, changing your mind again and you’d have years, decades to do it!!!

I read about China’s first Emperor who spent 38 years building his 76 meter high tomb, because he wanted to spend his afterlife in a palatial tomb surrounded by all his worldly treasures. And he had over 8000 terracotta life sized soldiers to guard his tomb!

So, how do we pack for eternity?

I read in 1John 5:11 “And this is the testimony that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son does not have life.”

And John 14:6 is crystal clear. Jesus says, “l am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Roman’s 10:9 is also clear. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in

THE MIRACLE PRAYER

Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked many favours.

This time I ask you this special one, (mention favour). Take it dear heart of Jesus and place it within your heart where your father sees it. Then in his merciful eyes it will become your own favour not mine. Amen.

Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never been known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. M.K.

PRECIOUS MOTHER OF JESUS

M.K.

Say 6 times a day for 3 days.

your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved. “

So scripture tells us that believing what God says is the key. That’s Faith.

Don’t we just lug around so much useless junk like fear, worry, anger, self-righteousness and negativity? It drags us down and makes life so burdensome. But God tells us in His Word to travel light. How? By believing what He tells us in His Word. He wants us to know His incredible love, His light, His truth, His grace, mercy, healing, His freedom, His peace, joy and hope.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden and l will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for l am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I’m learning to travel light, with luggage that lasts into eternity.
