FALL 2020

GIVING BACK & STAYING POSITIVE

As we walked through the day to day processing of COVID-19,

one way we stayed positive was by giving back. Our girls received a care package from a generous supporter with some fun items like coloring books, crosswords, and craft items. The girls chose to pay it forward by coloring pictures to brighten residents' day at Benton House, an Assisted Living Facility in our community. We also took time to send some encouragement to our fire fighters on the front lines of the Covid-19 crisis. We appreciate you and recognize the risks you take and the burdens you bear in worrying about your health and the health of your families. Thank You for your sacrifice. During Teacher Appreciation Week we recognized all of our phenomenal teachers and amazing tutors. We couldn’t do what we do without you. As a thank you, each girl contributed to a beautiful chalk drawing in the driveway. An extra special thanks for all the hard work you have had to put in during the COVID-19 Pandemic. On another occasion we chose three important people in our lives to send an encouraging card. It was good for our souls to take our eyes off of ourselves and focus on someone else. Painting rocks and placing them throughout the community was another positive way for us to spread messages of joy. We are giving back, not giving up.

HOLIDAYS ANGEL'S HOUSE STYLE

Thank You to our amazing community for making days like this possible for our girls, especially when we aren’t able to go out for activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Easter Our joyful Easter included a prayer walk, egg hunt, low country boil, and messages by Abbey Bunch, LifePoint Church and Passion City.

Father's Day We took a moment to acknowledge Father’s Day and the emotions that come with it at Angel’s House. We put our messages to our fathers in a bottle and dropped them in the creek and left our burdens behind.

Thanksgiving Mother's Day A rose was given to each of our girls to reflect on what Mother’s Day means to them. A second rose was given to keep, representing the future moms our girls may become. The lessons they are learning and tools we have given them will break cycles and help them become strong, loving, independent, healthy, and financially stable women. 2

We celebrated an early Quarantine Thanksgiving with an amazing day of food, laughter, and traditions. We have so much to be thankful for.

4th of July We focused on being thankful for our country, our freedom, and all that we have been blessed with. We wrapped up the evening with bingo, 4th of July themed prizes, sparklers, and fun fireworks to end the night. ANGEL'S HOUSE NEWS FALL 2020

Christmas in July This is how we make lemonade out of lemons during a Pandemic at Angel's House. . . Christmas in July!!! The day was our Angels’ spring break and summer vacation all rolled into a fun Christmas in July celebration. We wanted the girls to have an exciting break from thinking about all that is going on in the world as we continued sheltering in place (since March). The girls happiness and thankfulness on this morning made every late night moment of preparation worth it. The love and goodness that are poured into these girls each and every day would not be possible without our amazing community support. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you and Merry Christmas....in July. It was a successful first day of school. The girls were virtually at school all day and were pretty exhausted by the end of the day. But, they were oh so thankful to get connected to their friends, teachers. They felt a sense of normalcy and, for the most part, the day went very smoothly with the Angel's House staff assisting with any technical glitches or Google Classroom errors. This day would not have been possible and our girls would not have felt so prepared without our amazing community support from Keller Williams and Abby's Angels Foundation. Thank you! 3

Wishes Filled Throughout the pandemic wonderful donors chose items from our Amazon wish list. The girls were beyond excited to see some of their favorite snacks and some fun craft items. It was such an encouragement to see the joy on their faces as we opened each of the boxes and it truly did us all a lot of good. Thank you all for your support during this time.

When you have been in quarantine for months, you have to wear the appropriate attire. Thank You Alexandra Hanne Adams for checking out our Amazon wish list and sending some of the most hilarious t-shirts to brighten our girls' day. We all needed the laugh and we can’t thank you enough.

Summer Party There is more than one way to play in the sand when you can’t go to the beach. We are so thankful for this sand art craft. So fun at our end of the school year summer party with snacks, glow sticks, an independent living event, sand art, Subway sandwiches, and a summer fashion show quarantine style. Thanks to our amazing supporters making days like this possible to keep our girls excited, energized, and engaged. 4

Fun Fridays Each Friday evening we called “Fun Friday” for something to look forward to for the girls. Staff picked up a meal from a favorite restaurant then the group had an activity. Many involved crafts that were donated through our Amazon wish list and others were from the minds of a creative staff member!

Time Capsule - April 2020 Each of the girls completed a time capsule and was invited to come back in 20 years to dig it up.

Sharing God's Word Through the Pandemic

We have been blessed with virtual church from LifePoint Church, Crowder Music, Good Friday Concert, Passion City, and staff lead devotion.

Goodbye to Our Ms. Kaye! After ten years of dedicated service at Angel’s House, we were sad to say goodbye to Ms. Kaye Todd this month. Thankfully, she’s not gone too far away! Ms. Kaye received a much-deserved promotion and will be working in the Human Resource department at Georgia Baptist Children’s Home corporate offices in Palmetto. Congratulations Ms. Kaye! Our house won’t be the same without you but we wish you the very best of luck in your new job. We know you will be a blessing to them as you have been to us! 5
