EDITOR’S NOTE I’ve always wondered what percentage of Brevard County residents were tourist first. Born-and-raised compared to came-tostay. The Space Coast is home to many but birthplace to few. Sunny mornings on the beach, breezy afternoons at the port and small-town charm are what makes Brevard home to many. In this issue, we’ll cover what brings the tourists and keeps the locals beachside residents. Bartender of the Month, JP Sakson shares how ambiance, fresh cocktails, and fun-loving staff makes Twin Finnegan’s a favorite bar in town. Kelsie Sandage interviews Kole Trent from the BackSideArt Gallery. Resident of the Month, Lynda Weatherman, wants more Millennials to live and work in Brevard County. I hope to someday travel to my grandmother’s birthplace in County Cork, Ireland. Maybe when I’m there, I’ll see some mythological selkies, which are something like a seal mermaid. 4-6 tablespoons coconut oil 1 purple onion, chopped 5 large potatoes, cubed into small pieces 1 cup grated carrot 2 lbs. cooked corned beef, cubed into small pieces A handful of fresh parsley, chopped A pinch of thyme A pinch of rosemary A pinch of nutmeg Salt and pepper to taste
In a large skillet, fry the onions, potatoes, and carrots in the coconut oil until tender. Then add the corned beef, parsley, and spices and cook until crispy, stirring occasionally. Salt and pepper to taste, top each serving with a fried egg.

1 cup unbleached white flour 2 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder A pinch sea salt 1 1/2 tablespoon butter 2 cups whole wheat flour 1/4 cup instant oatmeal 1 1/2 cups nonfat plain yogurt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix the white flour, sea salt, honey, and baking soda, and baking powder together. Cut in the butter to form crumbs mixture, then stir in the whole wheat flour and instant oatmeal. Add the yogurt and mix well, if the dough is too dry add a little milk. Knead a few times then shape into a round loaf and cut some slits on top. Bake for about 45 minutes.

Awestruck March is here! I can finally celebrate my most cherished day of the year, the first day of spring. This day announces life, new beginnings, beauty, and awe. All year I look forward to the morning when the first gardenia on the tree opens. It’s the greatest gift ever. It’s comforting to know that warmer and longer days are coming. I embrace this feeling of awe; it’s exhilarating. Last month, I was driving around Colorado, and everything was so stunning. Around every corner displayed the artistry of nature. I also visited the Grand Canyon. My worries and anxieties became insignificant as I stared out at the vastness and gained clarity. Scientists have studied the feeling of awe and found it has the power to inspire, heal, change our thinking, and bring people together. Albert Einstein described awe as “the source of all true art and science.” I was awestruck in Sedona looking up at the red rock formations that were ocean beds over 300 million years ago. This feeling of awe is what gets me so excited about spring. In a way, it like a long-awaited friend arriving so we can begin our adventure together. Psychologist Dacher Keltner describes awe as “the feeling of being in the presence of something vast or beyond human scale, which transcends our current understanding of things.” Keltner heads the University of California Berkeley’s Social Interaction Lab and says that awe “can also be much more accessible-- a friend is so generous you’re astounded, or you see a cool pattern of shadows and trees.” Yesterday, I was elated when I noticed the peppermint plant is now lush and green after looking lifeless all winter. And so far the highlight of today was the sighting of the first Monarch butterfly of the year. Awe’s power to heal is quite impressive. It is the emotion that strongly predicts reduced levels of cytokines, which is great because elevated cytokines cause inflammation. The functional medicine community has been warning about inflammation now that it has been discovered as the root cause of illness and disease. Research has linked exposure to
nature with lower blood pressure and stronger immune systems, and terms like ‘forest bathing’ and ‘green therapy’ are reported to relieve symptoms of depression, ADHD, and OCD. ‘Nature Deficit Disorder’ is a term used by author Richard Louv in his book “Last Child in the Woods” to describe what is happening to children who spend less time outdoors, resulting in a wide range of behavioral problems. Not only does nature help us psychologically, but also physically. It provides us with clean, unprocessed, and nutrient-dense foods that are the very foundation of who we are and what we can achieve. Awe helps us act more generously, ethically, and fairly. In one study, subjects spent one minute looking at either a magnificent North American eucalyptus tree or a plain building. When a tester “accidently” dropped pens the awestruck ones helped pick up more than the others. Awe binds us together as we realize we are a small part of something much larger, our thinking shifts from me to we. When we are feeling awe, we experience decreased ego because our presence is in demand to be herenow. Awe dissolves the self. We perceive a sensation of admiration and elevation next to the grandeur of the universe. We are dependent on something bigger than ourselves, a part of something colossal. If this sense of awe can bring us together, think about the possibilities. We could focus on saving our lagoon, starting a community garden, and reducing the use of single-use plastics and Styrofoam. The accomplishments we can achieve are infinite.

Happy Birthday to a LEGEND
February 11 was Greg Noll’s 80th birthday. A big wave pioneer in Hawaii during the sixties, Noll charged the biggest waves at Pipeline, Makaha, and Waimea Bay. Noll was instantly recognizable in his “jailhouse” black and white striped trunks. Photos of his exploits were in every surfing magazine and in newspapers around the world. Many are not aware of Greg’s strong connections to Florida and the East Coast. Cocoa Beach surfing legend Pat O’Hare originally learned to shape surfboards from Greg. He went to Greg’s California factory regularly during the sixtys to help shape during the summer rush. There was even an O’Hare by Greg Noll label for a while. He also supported many East Coast surf shops, notably including Skip Savage when he was in Delaware and later on with Skip and Yancey Spencer in Pensacola. Greg also helped found the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame and attended many of the induction ceremonies at Surf Expo. The Florida Surf Museum continues its commitment to preserving our surfing history. Our website continues to add written and video content from surfing communities from across the state-- many contributed by local surfing historians. Our Facebook page features daily content on contemporary and historical interests. Make that a source for your daily surf stoke. We are also active with our community programs. We have partnered with the Cocoa Beach and Melbourne surf teams to provide them with donations to compete in the National Scholastic Surfing contest in Huntington Beach. Additionally, we support
the Viera High School Ocean Bowl team for their scholastic competition in Miami. In return, these students earn community service credits by providing volunteers for our events such as the Waterman’s Challenge contest and Surfing Santas. Our surfing swap meets have become very popular, and we will be organizing them periodically throughout the year. SIGN OF THE TIMES You can’t miss the shark sign on the corner of SR 520 where it crosses A1A. People get whiplash trying to check out the Beachwave Beachware store with its giant white shark poking through the pole. Actual sightings of great whites in the area are rare, but it does happen every so often. Recently, the crew of the deep sea charter fishing boat called Miss Canaveral reported seeing a 14-ft great white about 18 miles off of Canaveral. Over the Beachwave parking lot, the gray shark looms from under the store sign on the corner as a landmark of sorts. I imagine that people who live here consider it to be “their shark.” Time and regulations currently threaten its existence. We struggle when something we’ve grown used to seeing every day disappears. The gray shark’s toothy snarl greets you every time you come home like a neighborhood dog. Two hurricanes hastened the disintegration of the shark. Slowly the surfboard crumbled and then disappeared from the sign. Rough patches of rust enlarged. The missing fin is obvious, and the entire body of the shark is riddled with serious cracks. His mouth bears wounds running around the snout, capturing a savage look. Hurricanes destroy many landmarks. We feel sad but move on. It’s what small communities do well. The choices are never easy. It’s hard for communities to decide whether to remove, fix, or celebrate quirky, disintegrating landmarks. When you drive by, does the shark mean more to you than just iron mesh coated with plaster? I think it cries out for a caring, compassionate, creative individual to
restitch those weather wounds. Otherwise, this once important plaster fish will become extinct. One night I came by to peek at the great white. The shark bathed under a pair of star LED floodlights that reminded me of searchlights on a disaster site. It provoked powerful images of fear. I set out to photograph the shark to study and capture a memory before I lost my chance. I spent a great deal of time observing that dark figure just under the Beachwave sign. In May 2016, the owner of the seven Beachwave stores passed away. His son Oshri “Mosh” Gal now runs the businesses. He said, “I remember when I was 10, I used to follow my father around everywhere. The day the great white was built into the sign, I remember how excited he was about it, even though it cost a lot of money back then.” Other questions emerged. Is the shark is still worth saving? Should we preserve him? Or is money better spent somewhere else? I asked Mosh if he thought he could repair it and he said, “Oh yes. We can fix it.” Mosh explained earlier, “The City of Cocoa Beach doesn’t want the shark to be replaced. They feel it’s offensive. I wanted to repair the shark, but the city says no to that too.” January 5th, Attorney Mitchell Goldman represented Oshri “Mosh” Gal, the owner of the sign. Talent Search for Skilled Workers As the President and CEO of the Economic Development Commission, Lynda Weatherman is in charge of promoting Brevard’s economic destiny. But she’s also on a talent search. She works with manufacturers and companies in the area, and they all want one thing: more skilled workers. 18

Information Middleman
The EDC isn’t usually focused on workforce issues. It primarily acts as a informational middleman between companies and the cities where they are located. It focuses on enticing new employees, expanding jobs, and relocating businesses to Brevard County “In many ways, the EDC is a broker,” Weatherman explained “When we talk about a company relocating, we don’t vote on incentives. We don’t own property, and we aren’t realtors. We just package information.” The EDC maintains detailed databases on demographics, tax and area statistics. Weatherman gives the example of how the EDC helps with the give-and-take required to get an airport to extend its lease and stay in town. The EDC may suggest the city offer the airport lease and tax incentives that meet the city statutes.
Expanding Talent
Expanding existing business within a small area and population is difficult. The EDC began a two-part talent recruitment program to help attract and maintain talented workers. One is on the production side and it’s about growing your workforce from within. The other program is to promote the Space Coast to young professionals. As
the times have changed, the need to maintain and grow a skilled workforce is more important than ever.
Talent Recruitment
Businesses can’t grow if they don’t have a large pool of potential workers to employ. With the recent job growth at places like Northrop Grumman and Embraer there’s even less skilled labor available. Since these new jobs didn’t exist in the area before, now there’s additional companies needed to support them. Businesses such as OneWeb, a satellite startup company with an office in Cocoa seeks highly skilled workers as well. “I met with [the founder] at the groundbreaking, and he [Greg Wyler] said, “Lynda, I do not want people to just build the satellites. I want artisans to build the satellites.’”
Manufacturing TalentJobs of the Future
Weatherman believes in the growth of manufacturing. She’s working with manufacturers and other companies to mine talent locally. She’s partnered with several groups and manufacturers to promote a 10-week course MSSC/CPT Certification Course. This class focuses on the national core

EDC’s current projects is the Live Big campaign. She’s collaborating with the TDC (Tourism Development Council) to gather resources to spotlight the perks of Brevard. Brevard is known for the natural wonders of the beaches, the Indian River lagoon, turtle nesting season and the excitement of rocket launches. But it’s thriving culture activities, walkable downtowns and cool restaurant and bar scene needs more of a spotlight. They’ve also been working with 321 Millennials to find out what they love about Brevard so they can market to young people. “We don’t lack ideas, just money. We want to encourage people to live in Brevard County and the children who grow up here to stay.”
Talent Retention

If they apply themselves and master their trade they can potentially make $80,000 to $85,000 a year. The demand for trades is booming as older workers aren’t being replaced, and there are fewer people going into those fields.
Wooing Recent Grads
Weatherman has embarked on another talent search: recent college graduates. “Double EEs [Electrical Engineers], Software Engineers, and Mechanical-- everyone wants these professionals. They’re young and in demand and they can shop for jobs.” Weatherman has been studying the Millennial migration of students after college. “A study of the Millennials shows where they want to go. Austin, New York City, Silicon Valley, and Nashville.” One of the
Weatherman is also on a civic leaders board that advises the chief of staff to the Air Force. “I think airmen are a wonderful resource and when they retire, we need to encourage them to stay here. It’s an untapped talent reservoir.” Many airmen can retire after three or four years and can be valuable members of our workforce. She also seeks to recruit FIT and Eastern Florida State college students by setting up internships with local companies so the students have a reason to remain in the area following graduation.

Weatherman’s mission is to turn tourists into skilled workers, get more young people into manufacturing and keep Brevard’s graduates in town. Partnered with the infrastructure of the TDC, the advice of the 321 Millennials, and the boundless energy, Lynda Weatherman is selling young workers on the perks of the Space Coast. She noted, “We have the intellectual infrastructure of a major urban area and and the sweetness of a small town. You’re not going to find that combination anywhere else.”

KOLE TRENT of BackSideArt Gallery
On 4th Street North, between the split roads is the BackSideArt Gallery. Owner Kole Trent is a local artist influenced by his love of family, nature, and space. Kole infuses his heavy acrylic paintings with galaxies, sea creatures, sunsets, waves, and creative passion. The first BackSideArt Gallery sign was a surfboard with a turtle and his logo. His work spotlights vibrant subjects against dark backgrounds to create dramatic contrasts. The sea creatures in space are at a juxtaposition to each other as much as the bright
colors against a black canvas. As a teenager, Kole drew on the backside of surfboards with Sharpies. The name of BackSideArt Gallery came from the commissions his friends paid for his art on their boards. This work led to a sponsorship from BoardStix, a company who makes premium paint markers for surfboards. Business took off, and BacksideArt has grown in the past two years. The Cape Canaveral Friday Fest was Kole’s first big show and funded his next show at Rockledge Gardens. Recently, he was in
Daytona at the Halifax show and met some influential people who invited him to a private show. He had a booth to himself in the center of the exhibit surrounded by roughly twenty different galleries. Kole explained how honored he felt that the event organizers displayed his work as a central attraction. His space sea turtle painting was the first thing people saw when they walked into the room. Kole’s family have supported his work through the years. His mother fostered his art career when she bought him his first paintbrushes, paint, and stretched canvases years ago. His brother, Kyle, is his operational manager. He manages the gallery, works conventions, and all the odd work involved with traveling and working with artists. His father retired to help promote Kole’s work. “I have so much support from my family,” said Kole. “If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here right now.” In December, Kole painted a galaxy-inspired surfboard for the Play For Rafe Foundation. The board was raffled off, and the proceeds went to the American Heart Association. Kole’s goal for 2017 is to expand, and bring happiness and joy through his art. Kole’s humble, positive attitude shines through in the beauty of his paintings.

SpaceX’s CRS-10 Launch CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Fla. --The 45th Space Wing supported SpaceX’s successful launch of a Falcon 9 Dragon spacecraft headed to the International Space Station from Space Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center February 19 at 9:39 a.m. ET. The U.S. Air Force has been breaking barriers since 1947 and with the successful demonstration of a new Autonomous Flight Safety System on this launch, yet another barrier has been broken. This mission marked the historic first-ever launch utilizing AFSS on either of Air Force Space Command’s Eastern or Western Ranges. AFSS takes ground-based mission flight control--personnel and equipment-out of the control center and replaces it with on-board Positioning, Navigation and Timing sources and decision logic. The benefits of AFSS include increased public safety, reduced reliance on range infrastructure, reduced range spacelift cost, increased schedule predictability and availability, operational flexibility,

and launch site flexibility. An AFSS on-board flight computer uses pre-established, programmed mission rules to determine if the launch vehicle poses an unacceptable hazard to people or property and initiates required actions to mitigate risk and terminate flight, if necessary. “AFSS is an essential part of the Air Force Space Command’s vision for the future of Assured Access to Space as the system increases range safety with its over-the-horizon capability and its ability to support multiple objects in simultaneous flight, such as a first-stage booster return,” said Brig. Gen. Wayne Monteith, 45th Space Wing commander. “I am proud of the integrated team who worked
tirelessly to make this historic mission a success. This operation once again clearly demonstrates the successful collaboration we have with our mission partners at the FAA, NASA and SpaceX as innovation continues to shape the future of America’s space operations and showcases why the 45th Space Wing is the ‘World’s Premier Gateway to Space.’” Following the launch, SpaceX successfully landed the Falcon 9 first-stage booster on the company’s Landing Zone 1 at CCAFS. The fly back mission was the third successful one for SpaceX following previous first-stage booster landings on LZ-1 back in July 2016 and December 2015. Since the late 1960s, KSC’s Launch
Complex 39A has served as the starting point for America’s most significant human spaceflight endeavors such as the Apollo 11 launch for the first manned moon landing in 1969 and the first Space Transportation System mission in 1981 with the launch of the Space Shuttle Columbia, also named STS-1. Thirty years later, NASA’s 135th and final mission of the Space Shuttle program, STS135, successfully launched the orbiter Atlantis from LC-39A. The Falcon 9 CRS-10 launch was the second major launch operation for the Eastern Range this year and marks the tenth contracted mission by SpaceX under NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services contract.

The “Lure” of March Madness Let the March madness begin! This month, we can target a variety of species. This is a great time to fish black drum, redfish, seatrout, cobia, tripletail, kingfish, red snapper, sharks, and of course snook. Tripletail is a blast to target fish, like cobia, and it’s a lot of fun because it’s all sight fishing. You can target and catch tripletail multiple ways. The most common is throwing a live shrimp, but you can also hook them on jigs and other soft plastic lures. My favorite method is on the fly rod. I don’t get many opportunities with them on the fly because I’m always guiding others. But I’ll tell you what-watching the fish inhale one of your homemade shrimp pattern flies is a sight you would never forget. The redfish bite has also been good. Multiple schools of slot are just outstanding to fight. Cut ladyfish, jigs, and jerkbaits have been the ticket for me. The ⅛ oz twist lock jerkbait hook made by Owner Hooks definitely gets the job done. You can purchase these hooks at Handler Fishing Supply located in Merritt Island. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Offshore, we’ve been targeting kingfish on the reefs along with plenty of red snapper on live and dead bait. Along the beaches are some monster black drum up to 80 pounds that are a blast to catch.
The trout is the last on my agenda. The trout my clients have been catching are from 18-29 inches. Any trout over 24 inches is a lot of fun, and that’s when you start calling them “gator” trout. Jerkbaits and ⅛ oz jigs with a grub tail will do the trick, so will topwater lures as long as there’s not any sea grass on the surface. I hope all this information helps you become better anglers. Twin Finnegan’s is a bar where residents and wish-they-could-be residents hang out for good times, tasty brews, and local art. Their large selection of craft beer, wine, bar games, and almost-daily live music offers plenty of novelty and surprises. Twin Finn’s even has you covered on the weekends, with mimosa and michelada bars for a little variety. How long have you been a bartender? Since I was yay high. (Picture his hand on the top of his head.) What’s your favorite thing about tending bar? I love getting to know the customers that come in, whether it is following the lives of our regulars or sharing stories of Cocoa Beach with tourists. But my favorite of all is the free sunglasses, credit cards, and underwear people leave behind after hours. Strangest thing you’ve witnessed from behind the bar? People paying their tabs, drinking up their last sips and promptly removing themselves from the bar at last call without argument. What’s your beer of choice?

Although I don’t drink personally, I have sampled many of our beers and have two favorites: Kentucky Bourbon Ale and the other is Bottomless Blonde, a local favorite, from Playalinda Brewery. What’s the strangest/funniest question you’ve been asked about craft beer? Which craft beer is good? At Twin Finnegan’s we pride ourselves on carrying great quality
craft beer and wine. If you are trying one of our crafts, let me assure you, it’s a great one. If you could serve anyone, who would it be and what would you serve them? Why? Although I have served several celebrities at Twin Finnegan’s, it wouldn’t be a celebrity that I would wish to serve. If I could serve anyone, I would serve my friend Jon Davis that passed away. I would want him to come for one of our Thursday night game nights and try our Ballast Point Victory at Sea. He always enjoyed drinking and games. He would like the Victory at Sea being that it has an alcohol content of 10%. What do you love about St. Patrick’s Day? I like how this little city goes out and celebrates together. Any advice for visitors? If you haven’t been to Twin Finnegan’s yet, you definitely should stop in and have a drink with us.

about THE
FUNK An art teacher, an IT professional, a music teacher, a tugboat worker, an aeronautical engineer, and a professor all walk on stage. Have you heard this one before? Because if you haven’t, then it’s time you discovered some new favorite jams. Meet Funkle Fester, a seven, eight, and sometimes nine-piece New Orleans-style Funk-Jazz fusion collective making a big noise. Back in 2012, John Alison (guitar) and Mike McCutchan (bass) both discovered a mutual obsession and started jamming at John’s house -- “just for fun.” They both credit Red Hot Chili Peppers and a Florida-based funk band named Big Shirley as major influences. After a year of garage-style jams, more local funk enthusiasts fell into the mix. Keith Capizzi (drums), Reid Siljestrum (percussion), Patrick Riordan (saxophone), Bill Hanney (keys), and Mark Sunderland (trumpet) all joined soon after. Some of the guys were found though musician want-ads while others just walked on stage. That’s how Bobby Lucas (saxophone) joined. As John Alison tells it, Bobby heard the band playing downtown and decided to play along. Those situations rarely work out, but in this case, it certainly did. “Johnny-Trombone,” as Mike calls Johnny McGuire (guess what he plays?), is a recent addition to the band, and everyone agrees he’s added a distinctiveness to the mix that nobody realized had been missing. Funkle’s first official gig happened thanks to John Alison. He says he knew the guys

wanted more, so he lined up an opportunity to play at Delandapalooza 2015 under the name The Funk Yard. The band was hesitant at first, and why not? They didn’t even have a song. They all agreed it was worth the trip and the $35 pay-to-play. The guys reminisced that as soon as the group started playing, people from around the festival were drawn in and just started dancing. Their sound is “Funk for all ages”. People from all walks can’t help but move and groove. Now it’s 2017, Funkle Fester is cruising, and the guys have a lot to be proud of these days. They played their biggest show to date in February at the Seafood and Music Fest at Cocoa Beach, took the main stage with national acts Ballyhoo! and Dirty Heads. In March, they have two big gigs lined up: the Brewmaster’s Invitational Beer Festival in Port Canaveral and a St. Patrick’s Day show at Murdock’s in Cocoa Village. An even bigger ego boost for the band, though, is that they just finished recording their debut album with Zone Productions in Melbourne. Fifteen tracks were recorded in just three days. Mike and John promise a release party is in the works, maybe even a show in downtown Cocoa Beach. Keep your fingers crossed, because that’s a party you won’t want to miss. When you talk with the band, you quickly discover their number one motivation is to have fun. From surfing, working their day jobs, or coming together as Funkle Fester, the energy is always present. Swift Knuckle Solution Violent Breed Records, 2016
From Orlando comes Swift Knuckle Solution, a no frills, kick-in-the-pants band. Theirs is a simple formula; a thunderous bass, serrated guitar tones and incessant rhythm, dressed with vitriolic vocal delivery. With a deep understanding of melody and the entire Motörhead catalog, SKS come out of the gate cracking heads, and with none of the songs topping 2:29. ready to be played again. There are six songs here. “Loss of Control,” “Honestly,” and “Spinning Sides” are stand out tracks on a disc full of hard-bitten, brawny numbers. Like the whack in the head, you took from a combination lock in a tube sock during your first and only three-day stint in juvenile detention, you’ll remember this for some time to come.

Heather Gillis Band
Independent Release, 2016 I’m gonna come out and say it. A lot of blues artists are flippin’ lazy. Relying too much on cliché moves as well as tried-and-true form. They become a watered-down version of whoever it was who initially inspired them to commit to the medium. Heather Gillis and the band she helms manage to sidestep this problem entirely. Currently residing in Tallahassee, she is attending FSU and had been part of Butch Trucks and The Freight Train Band. Just about everything on here is a surprise. It’s amazing how strong the musicianship is, the great arrangements, and the decidedly wonderful and unexpected turns the music takes. Just when does she find the time to be this great? “Soul” opens with a compelling groove with a loose feel, and showcases her smoky, yearning vocals. “100 MPH” pushes with a
by M.A. Rivera relentless drive and a gritty, dark guitar tone. The song has a great cinema noir quality, complete with incendiary guitar lead. “I Found a Love” is the other side of that coin. Bright and cheery with a sparkling saxophone coloring throughout. Remember what I said about form? “Gonna Be A Storm” offers a new version of an old riff that’s been unearthed from searching deep in a muckfilled swamp. Its groove is slippery and stubborn. This disc is filled with charm and personality to spare. Gillis writes and performs with deft skill that belies her youth.

The Own You EP The Ood
Independent Release, 2017 From Tampa come The Ood, a five-piece band who specialize in coarse, unburnished 70s throwback rock. With jagged, broken glass vocals and tastefully sweeping leads, The Ood is a dogged bunch of ornery malcontents who happen to have instruments, and decided to sing about their anger. “Dead Meat” churns at a quick clip. Fueled by guitars tuned like a thousand angry hornets and driven by a solid rhythm section, the song never holds back. “WW” is a tribute to Breaking Bad and Walter White. There’s some unguarded moments herein where the band plays loosely with the rhythm, and the slack moments offset the punchiness of the chorus. “LOFNO” (Lookin’ Out for Number One) is a classic dirty, rocking stomp of a number. This would work as an acoustic blues or a rockabilly tune, and is just fine as it stands. This is what the inside of your head sounds like after you are forced to go to work on Sunday with no sleep and a hangover. The audio quality here is a few steps up from a demo, but it only adds to the rough and tumble, seat of the pants feel. This feels like the band wrote this album while UFO, Nazareth, and Waylon Jennings played on a constant shuffle.
