C O M M U N I T Y S P OT L I G H T According to the American Heart Association, high blood pressure can be known as a silent killer due to not always having symptoms. This is why it is important to get your blood pressure checked regularly. If you shop at Publix or pop in to any drugstores (CVS or Walgreens) then you will most likely see a blood pressure station near the pharmacy. 120/80 is a great baseline number. 180/120 is considered hypertensive crisis and it is a medical emergency. If you see that your blood pressure is often on the higher side, make an appointment with your doctor and start thinking about some lifestyle changes to lower your blood pressure. There are a few things you can do to manage your blood pressure: reducing salt from your diet, eating well balanced healthy meals, limit alcohol intake, maintain a healthy weight, get more active and better sleep.
This month’s cover art is done by Christine Della Cioppa, local artist and curator of Summerland Shop and Gallery located within Open Mikes coffee lounge. The piece of art is is a reclaimed wooden cutout of a human heart, hand painted and ready to hang. Her botanical human heartwork was a perfect fit for our February issue. Summerland Gallery offers retail space, art viewings, classes and a sense of community. The gallery launched this month. Check it out! You can see more of Christine’s art. She is also available for commissions. @cdellacioppa.art @_summerland_om cdellacioppa@gmail.com

HOROSCOPES Capricorn Dec 22- Jan 19 Cancer Jun 21 - Jul 20 You’re a lucky one, as things usually work out for you. Don’t forget that. Follow your gut and intuition when it comes to an upcoming tention. Short and sweet for you this month, Cap.
Surprise! This month is turning out to be quite fruitful. Don’t forget to keep communication going with your partner, though. You are going 100mph so don’t leave your wingman in the dust.
Aquarius Jan 20 - Feb 18
Leo Jul 23 - Aug 22
Draw in some inspiration this month. Everything may feel like a whirlwind but the chaos is more organized than you think. Your harmonious tornado of ideas will land beautifully. There is always a rainbow after a storm.
Everything is going to work out. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice, though that is not always in your nature. This month may be a little off but you just need to breathe and silently hustle and bust your way out. You got this!
Pisces Feb 19 - Mar 20
Virgo Aug 23 - Sep 22
Go on a walk and find some solitude. Sort your thoughts and take the time alone to find inner peace. There has been too much on your mind lately and it’s time to take charge. Learn how to meditate or find a way to refresh your spirit.
Work is the big focus this month. Don’t let your thoughts weigh you down and learn how to speak up in the workplace. The home life is extra sweet this month. Use it as fuel to spark your day at work. You need a little pep in your step.
Aries Mar 21 - Apr 19
Libra Sep 23 - Oct 22
How has your year started out? You cut the toxins out of your diet but what about the toxic people in your life? It’s time to open your eyes and check yourself before you wreck yourself. Is there a family member or a friend that is dragging you down? It’s okay to say no!
Watch that bank account this month and maybe make your coffee at home. Also, consider having an open mind when listening to others. You may be quick to judge someone this month but maybe you shouldn’t.
Taurus Apr 20 - May 20 You are working hard on changing the direction of your life but feeling a little tied down. Take a deep breath and refocus. Sort out your schedule and slowly start crossing things off your list. You are not stuck in quick sand, though it feels that way. Just come up with a plan.
Gemini May 21 - Jun 20
What is going on in the workplace, Gemini? I don’t know and I don’t think you do either. What are your values? What do you want? You are letting someone walk all over you and that’s not cool. You aren’t a jerk for standing up for yourself. It may also be time to decide if this is really even what you want to do.
Scorpio
Oct 23 - Nov 21
Wow! This month is big on change and in a good way! Love in your relationship blossoms and balance is on the horizon. However, issues at work may be bottling up so make sure to find your balance there as well. Don’t let work stress spill into your happy home.
Sagittarius Nov 22 - Dec 21 This month is all about family connection. Put that planned vacation off another month or two and focus on the people in your life. When is the last time you had quality time with family? It’s time.
