free clothes, yet still stylish so you will look and feel good. I absolutely love Whistles Jersey blazers for my clients who are mums; stylish, smart, and really practical for bending down with the kids. They look fab with jeans and simple jersey tops, they can also be shoved into a washing machine. • Jeans: Having children could mean a long journey to fit back into your old jeans, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t still look fab in a pair! You may just need to alter the brand to suit your new shape. Look for a slightly higher waisted pair with a little stretch for comfort so it’ll hold everything in that needs to be! • Hair: Why not consider getting a low-maintenance hair cut or newstyle. For mums who prefer to have long hair, simply tie it back in a pretty bobble or clip. • Nails: Have a gel manicure and pedicure. The gel polish lasts for weeks and is hardwearing, nice bright neat nails and toes will make you feel better and look lovely even in your trackie bottoms! • ‘Me time’ is also important to your health and wellbeing. WHAT DOES OLED MEAN The latest innovation in TV screens is Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology, which promises better picture quality than LED displays. Unlike any other LCD TV; which requires a back light; OLED works in a different way, by switching on and off each and every micro pixel on its screen. Each OLED pixel contains red, green, blue and white elements, giving it a far better colour range to create a picture that provides natural, life-like colour and the deepest black levels. The fast refresh rate of OLED gives a super-fast picture that moves 1,000-times faster than

Daniel Craig is married to actress Rachel Weisz, renowned for her role in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. They both have a child from a previous relationship and tied the knot in June 2011 at a private New York ceremony. The couple prefer to keep a low profile and are rumoured to reside in a penthouse in Manhattan, NYC. A few years ago, The Independent reported that Daniel Craig is the highest paid Bond with a multi-million pound Contract. He spends time preparing for the role by employing the services of a personal trainer (or ‘bond’ builder). The trainer is a former Royal Marine and it would appear that the secret behind the six-pack is to train like an athlete. Two years in planning, the latest Spectre movie involves extra incredible actors which Craig adds “Somehow we continue to attract more amazing people (I don’t know how we do it) but they seem to want to get involved with the madness”. SPECTRE is released on 6th November 2015.

SKYFALL (song) written & performed by Adele won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Apparently bookmakers, William Hill have slashed the price of Sam Smith singing the next Bond theme following a significant move and he is now odds on at 2/5 (from 2/1) to sing the title song for Spectre.

006 – Daniel Craig is the sixth actor to play 'Bond'. His piercing blue eyes and blonde hair completely contradict the guise of previous Bonds, who were over 6ft tall, with dark hair. However, a lot of ladies believe he has more than earned his Licence to kill!

By booking ahead we were fortunate enough to be able to experience the Film & Dine deal which offers exceptional value at just £14.75 per person. We allowed ourselves just over an hour before the film to enjoy our food in the modern spacious surroundings of the cafe bar. The deal enabled us to combine the film of our choice (Spooks: The Greater Good) with a meal from the regular menu or the daily special board, from which I selected Blackened Pan Fried Salmon on Sweet Potato Wedges, whilst my fiancé opted for a Thai Prawn Curry, and neither of us were left disappointed.
It was of a high standard, taste & flavour, this alongside a well stocked and varied bar which housed a selection of local ales aided the relaxed ambiance in which we enjoyed our dinner. After we had finished our meal we were asked if we would like to take our drinks into the cinema with us, which we dually obliged and we were then guided towards Screen 1 which was clean, neat & modern, albeit slightly more intimate than your run of the mill commercial cinema. Being at an arts based loctaion you have the feeling of appreciation of all things creative which adds to the sophistication about the place. When the film had finished we left the phoenix to smiles & thank you's after having the most perfect of evenings, with wonderful food, fantastic value, in great surroundings with the bonus of added arts & culture. It was on the short walk to the car it was agreed that there will be a sequel or part two, and we will return! To find out more visit phoenix.org.uk

EDIT: Buy or borrow a computer, learn the software and edit your scenes together, shot by shot. Keep it tight and simple until your film is fun, snappy, or dramatic. THEN, refocus the story and tell it the best way you can using the footage you captured, which may mean changing the original intention of the script.
REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT... You will learn an enormous amount during your first movie. So don't hang around, start on the next and you’ll soon feel more confident and ready to take chances. Your work will become more original and you'll begin to find your voice as a filmmaker.
OTHER THINGS TO DO: Find other filmmakers and ask to help them out. In turn, they'll help you and you'll form friendships and partnerships. Study media at college or university, but it's what you do that really counts in progressing your career. Writing is the most crucial skill if you want to be a filmmaker. So go write your movie! FOR SOME OF US THE LUXURY OF A BIG GARDEN ISN’T ALWAYS POSSIBLE, BUT WHY SHOULD BIGGER BE BETTER? ONE OF THE GREATEST ADVANTAGES OF A SMALLER GARDEN, IS IN A SMALL AREA YOU CAN HAVE EVERYTHING YOU WANT, YOUR OWN LITTLE OASIS, AND IT COSTS LESS AND IS EASIER TO MAINTAIN - EXPLAINS GARDENING EXPERT, MICHAEL WHEAT
SIZE ISN'T
everything IN THE GARD E N
5 TOP TIPS TO GETTING THE MOST FROM A SMALL GARDEN: 1.
Don’t try and cram too much in. Perhaps don’t have a lawn, you may need to sacrifice something to give your space the right balance.
2.
Make sure you put something in it! Small gardens tend to be boxes surrounded by fences, if you don’t plant in front of them your eye will be drawn unto the fence.
3.
Seating areas are key, make sure your seating area is near the house, easy access to the kitchen and you are looking out at the garden rather than looking at the back of your house. Decking is very versatile and adds a different texture to small gardens.
4.
Shady areas can be planted, but are good places for a water feature. In difficult areas, consider an artificial lawn which can look great in a small garden.
5.
Raised beds can add structure to small gardens. Sleepers do a great job of making raised borders, plant with colourful shrubs for all year round colour.
So the next time you get a bit envious of the large gardens, remember that small spaces can be just as inviting! Michael Wheat Pond & Garden Design, 4 Gladstone Street, Fleckney, Leicester, LE8 8AG T: 0116 240 3735 I www.michaelwheat.co.uk

DISEASES BLACK SPOT This is a common bug-bear to gardeners, especially those who like roses. In order to reduce infection, make sure that you remove all leaves from the ground in the autumn and mulch with well-rotted manure in February to reduce rain splash. A systemic fungicide will also stop the problem, but apply it as soon as leaves start to emerge, and every 14 days for as long as you can bear. It is worth mentioning that every year we have some customers arrive with Photinia ‘Red Robin’ leaves which they think has black spot. It is in actual fact a common problem with Photinia that appears if the plant is under stress. MILDEW There are a couple of different types of mildew, powdery and downy. They both look like white-mould growth on leaves, and are unfortunately unsightly. Again, these can be treated with a systemic fungicide. RUST This is one of the most common ailments that customers ask us about here at the nursery, and can be broadly

classified as reddish-brown spotting on the leaves of plants. Rusts thrive in damp environments, so keep watering to a minimum if you see it appearing. Feel free to bring a piece of your troubled plant into the

incidental to the real killer that happens beneath the surface of the soil. The young grubs of vine weevil munch through the roots of our favourite plant, which then die, with no explanation until we try to dig them up and find that there is little or no root structure left. Treat with specialist Vine weevil killers which are used as drenches over the plant and soil, or have a look online for nematode specialists. There are hundreds more pests in the garden, lots of which are plant specific, e.g. carrot whitefly and cabbage white butterflies. Have a look on the BBC Gardening website for a comprehensive list of all pests. The Dreaded 'Black Spot'

ith England hosting this year’s Rugby World Cup, Leicestershire’s famous Wistow Maze is joining in the fun. Created in the shape of a Rugby Player (scoring a try), the maze has been designed to build on our appetite for major sporting events, and to test visitors’ knowledge on a variety of sports that originated in the UK. “Three matches are being played in Leicester and we want visitors to join in the excitement and patriotic fervor of this tournament, whilst exercising both mind and body along the way”, says Diana Brooks, owner of Wistow Maze. Wistow Maze is an excellent family day out. As well as the challenge of this giant maze, visitors can test their skills on a variety of mini mazes and games in the Activity Funyard, which includes a space hopper track, hoopla and a football shooting game. At the end of each season, the maze is harvested for cattle fodder and then redesigned the following Spring using GPS satellite technology.

NEW WALK MUSEUM
eicestershire lifestyle blogger, Laura Hadland tells us what to expect at Leicester’s New Walk Museum. Art lovers do not have to leave the region to get their fix of world class art. Leicester's New Walk Museum
is home to the finest collection of German Expressionist art in the UK. It has been beautifully presented in a gallery entitled 'Expressionism: The Total Artwork'.
This gallery explores the Expressionist concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, the idea of striving for a total work of art
composed of all artistic forms. Audio visual 'skins' overlay the simple presentation of 2-dimensional and sculptural pieces to interpret themes like the Blue Rider school and the Nazi conceptualisation of Degenerate Art. A regular programme of activities, including audio-acoustic presentations, lectures, contemporary dance and theatrical performance within the space keeps the gallery vibrant and fresh. Key works on display include Franz Marc's 'Red Woman'. Marc's oil paintings are an incredibly rare sight in the UK. Also available to enjoy is one of the museum's most recent acquisitions, a deeply moving etching by Otto Dix entitled 'The Match Seller'. In total, around 100 works are displayed, grouped by movement. The stunning breadth of the collection, which represents the vast diversity of 20th century German Expressionism means that the exhibition really lives up to its burgeoning reputation. Art aficionados can also explore the full collection of some 500 works, via the online catalogue at www.germanexpressionismleicester.org. Younger visitors are encouraged to look at the art in more detail through a range of activity cards available both on gallery and online. New Walk Museum and Gallery is free to visit and open daily throughout the year. For more information visit www.leicester.gov.uk/museums.
