RACE TO THE POLE Ben teamed up with James Cracknell and Dr Ed Coats to race across Antarctica in the inaugural South Pole Race, the first of its kind since Captain Scott and Amundsen raced one another 100 years ago. The man hauled their 100kg sledges across 1000km of snow and ice in temperatures of minus 50. They suffered frostbite, hypothermia and delirium as they raced international teams across the Frozen wasteland.

EXTREME DREAMS Ben led more than a dozen expeditions including the Black Cat trail across Papua New Guinea, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Mountains of the Moon in Uganda, Kaiteur Falls in Guyana, crossing Spitzbergen, and crossing the Peruvian Amazon.

Scientists Agree A 30 minute Power Plate class, which involves movements performed on a vibrating surface, is the most effective workout. This is becasue you perform exercises on the vibrating plate, which means you ‘fire up’ your muscles, so your entire body is working. People who reguarly undertake Power Plate excercise are more successful in achieving increased strength, body tone and long-term weight loss compared to those who combine dieting with a more conventional finess routine.

4. CHELSEA BOOTS These are a staple piece of footwear for men during the winter months. They look amazing to dress up a pair of jeans. Again think about the quality and smart vibe they will give to a casual weekend outfit. To ensure you get maximum use out of your new purchase, I suggest investing good money in a leather version. Durable and refined, leather only gets better with age as it develops its own unique character, and if you stick to brown colour ways, your boots will seamlessly integrate within a variety of outfits. Make sure you take care of them with the correct shoes trees, leather care and storage.

And while previous seasons have seen breathable, fitted, light gauge versions take centre stage, this time around things are a little thicker and a whole lot larger. Perfect for keeping you warm and cosy, the oversized chunky knit , whether in cardigan, roll neck or jumper form, ties in

personal care products are subsequently progressing at a dramatic pace and there are a growing number of beauty brands producing products especially designed for men. Men’s and women’s skin differs generally in a couple of key ways. Men’s skin is typically thicker than women’s. The other key area is in the sebaceous glands. Men tend to be more oily and have more natural moisture. This can equate to men looking younger for longer than women; because their skin is thicker, it is more firm and can better withstand all the stress thrown at it from the environment. As men’s skin has more natural moisture, men can avoid the dull, dry look that can be a problem for woman as they mature. These factors all help men to avoid the early signs of ageing such as fine lines and sagging skin.

DOGS TRUST IS THE UK’S LARGEST DOG WELFARE CHARITY AND WITH A NETWORK OF 20 REHOMING CENTRES ACROSS THE UK AND IRELAND, CARING FOR NEARLY 17,000 DOGS EVERY YEAR, THEY TIRELESSLY WORK TOWARDS A DAY WHEN ALL DOGS CAN ENJOY A HAPPY LIFE

ith over 100 dogs looking for homes at any one time Dogs Trust

Loughborough is always looking for ‘pawfect’ matches for all the different shapes and sizes of dogs in its care. Hoping this will be read by their new families are Latte, Caprio and Gordan…

Latte is a six year old Pomeranian who needs an adult only home with no other pets. Latte is a handsome and charming boy with a sunny disposition once he gets to know people. He can be a bit of a nervous character who needs time to warm

Latte

up to new people and places, but with some time he will shine. Latte would like a new family who could spend time with him at the centre getting to know him and building up a bond before he goes home. Due to his nervous nature Latte will need some further training and careful socialisation with new people and other dogs. Caprio is a two year old Lurcher is on the lookout for his first home as he came into Dogs Trust as a stray at five months old. As you imagine, going home for the first time will be a big adventure for Caprio and he is therefore looking for a family who are ready to help introduce him to the world and channel all his enthusiasm in a positive manner. He's a super bright spark so regular training and plenty of exercise will be a must! As a Loughborough Learner, Caprio will like you to visit him several times at the centre before you embark on your journey together. We can guarantee he'll be well worth it! Caprio would like an adult only home where he is the only pet. Gordan is an 18 month old Lurcher who can live with young adults and another dog. Gordon has an immense zest for life and is looking for a family with the same qualities. Training, agility, search games... you name it, Gordon wants to be

Caprio

part of it! He is very motivated by food, toys and attention, which makes him easy to train, as long as you keep one step ahead of him at all times. Gordon benefits from going out with doggie friends regularly, as long as his interactions are kept under control. If you are looking for a dog to keep you on your toes, then Gordon may be the one for you! If you think you can offer any of these delightful trio their forever home please contact Dogs Trust Loughborough on 0300 303 0292 or visit the team at Dogs Trust Loughborough, Hill Farm, Wide Lane, Wymeswold, Loughborough, LE12 6SE. www.dogstrust.org.uk

ach mouthful of Symply contains more goodness than most Supermarket brands, so you need to

feed less therefore pay less. Using better quality, more digestible ingredients, Symply daily feeding

amounts are lower than other, less digestible brands. Your daily feeding costs will be lower than lesser quality ingredient brands, as they require increased daily feeding amounts to maintain your dog’s health. This also results in less to clear up (a lot less poop) which is good news for dog owners! High in omega 6 & 3, Symply helps maintain a healthy skin and a shiny coat. Also contains optimal levels of zinc, which helps with the repair of skin. The Symply pet food range is both delicious and nutritious to satisfy even the fussiest eater. Using a combination of high meat content and wholesome natural ingredients, Symply has the taste your dog will absolutely love, without the use of artificial flavourings. The dry crunchy kibble can also be helpful in keeping teeth cleaner by scraping against the teeth (although we still recommend regular dental care!). The high meat content also provides the protein your dog needs for a healthy body and strong muscles. When feeding Symply you can be assured of the highest quality ingredients which are gentle on the stomach and easily digested. This lowers the chances of digestive upsets. Highly digestible ingredients increases your dog’s ability to absorb goodness from the food. All Symply products are free of artificial colourings,

flavourings and preservatives. Symply products are preserved with mixed tocopherols, a blend of vitamin E which gives our food its long shelf life. All round a fantastic diet 100% guaranteed to improve your dog’s skin & coat. Available from Natural World 1181, Melton Road, Syston, Leicester, LE7 2JT. BAVETTE PASTA WITH SEAFOOD: SERVES 2 • 50ml olive oil • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped • 2 anchovy fillets • 700g pink tomatoes, peeled and chopped

• 100g prawns, peeled, deveined and halved • The zest and ¼ juice of 1 medium sized lemon • Torn flat-leaf parsley leaves, to serve

and then turn the heat to low and cook for about 20 minutes until slightly reduced.

3 Add the peas and season with freshly ground sea salt and black pepper. Allow the sauce bubble away for a further 15 minutes until the sauce is a deep, red colour.

4 Meanwhile cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water and drain once cooked.

5

With the remaining olive oil, add the

juice and zest of the lemon and give it a quick whisk and set aside to allow the lemon oil to infuse.

6 Once the sauce is a luscious, crimson red, add the seafood, cover and cook for 3 minutes and drizzle with the lemon oil.

7 Toss the pasta with the seafood sauce add the parsley, divide among bowls and serve immediately and watch your loved one enjoy this deliciously Credit: Anisha Mistry

It was reinterpreted by Fiat in 2007, with a model which has similarly been much loved. Modern, yet capturing the iconography of that earlier car, it is still one of the cheeriest vehicles on the road.

Much of the development has taken place beneath the curvaceous skin with (we are told) over 1,800 improvements. The latest 500 range also comes with additional colours and new graphics options. The main change you’ll notice is the addition of a smart touch screen for phone connectivity, DAB radio and sat-nav.
