If you are like me, you have been welcoming spring weather and sunshine. I like it to be cold in the winter, but when it’s gone I am not sorry. Springtime at The Briar Club means pools, tennis, lawn games and dining al fresco. To enhance your dining experience this spring, you will soon see new menu offerings, new employees working poolside, and fresh ideas for events. It all kicks off with spring break and continues through summer. FITNESS CLASS UPDATES A good fitness routine challenges different muscles by rotating workouts and activities. AQUATICS
JON DILLER
Aquatics Director poolmanager@thebriarclub.com The Aquatics Department is here to make sure you and your families have a safe and fun summer in and around the pool area. There are a few changes this year that I would like to highlight.
First is our brand new plaster and LED lights in the Competition Pool. We completed this work in February to give our lap pool an update to match the beautiful white plaster of our other two pools. The Club also made the addition of a starting block in the deep end of the Family Pool for our swim teams to practice their racing starts. We also installed a

The Lil’ Barracudas get to show off their skills during our home swim meets in an exhibition swim before the meet starts! TENNIS
JAN VICK
Tennis Director tennis@thebriarclub.com We had a great start to the year with Pickleball, our 2nd Annual Table Tennis Tournament, and the Club Championships. We had a great turnout for each event, and fun was had by all.
Many congratulations to all of the winners! As you may know, I retired as of March 31. It is a very bittersweet situation for me after 14 years here - I am going to really miss the members and I take with me some wonderful memories. I will miss you all more than you will miss me!
Thank you to my Tennis team, the Club management, and all the Committee members I have been involved with. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and allow me to build up Tennis at the Club to where it is today. G’day and Cheers! - Jan
DEAR DR. TENNIS Q: Should a player call his own shot if he knows it was out? A: Yes, absolutely - see USTA Rules & Regulations, Part 3, #13. Player calls own shots out. With the exception of
the first serve, a player should call out his or her own shots if they clearly see the ball out regardless of whether requested to do so by an opponent. The prime objective in making calls is accuracy. All players should cooperate to attain this objective.
PICKLEBALL We had a great time introducing Pickleball to the Club with our social on January 12. 40-50 members got to try their hand at this fun sport! We are now offering open play at the Sports Court. Clinics and leagues will be introduced soon! OPEN PLAY Saturdays and Sundays 2:00 - 5:00 pm
