Barracuda Café will have a limited menu through March and April, with the full poolside menu available at the start of the summer pool season on May 24.

TEEN SWIM TEAM COACH MEETINGS Teen Alumni of Barracuda Swim Team

Calling all past Barracuda swimmers! We’re looking for coaches to help us lead the Barracudas to victory for another year. Attend one of our informational meetings to learn more about becoming a swim team coach.

AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CLASS Ages 15 & Up | $325 per person

Learn life-saving skills and CPR/AED/First Aid in this blended-learning lifeguarding course by the American Red Cross. Students must be available for all hours of the in-class session to complete the course. Lunch and snacks are provided. Non-members may attend for $375 per person. Space is limited.

RED CROSS BABYSITTING CLASS Ages 10-14 | $90 per person

SUMMER HOLIDAY FUN!

This American Red Cross course gives future babysitters the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. The course teaches teens how to be good leaders and role models, make good decisions and solve problems, and handle emergencies, injuries & accidents. Non-members may attend for $100 per person.

Join us all summer long for three big holiday bashes: Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend. We’ll have buffet cookouts, special attractions, all day swimming and more.

Keep the kids active this spring by enrolling them in our Junior Developmental Tennis Program! Children are paired in small groups with one of our USPTA-certified Tennis Pros for 45-, 60-, or 90-minute skill-building lessons. Our group sizes are designed to allow each child to receive meaningful coaching from a Tennis Pro, while having fun along the way! PRICING Classes are offered in blocks of four weeks. JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM POLICIES TUITION Upon sign-up, your child will be considered a regular participant and will be billed accordingly at the 4-week block rate. Billing occurs on the day the class meets. You are committed to a minimum of 4 classes. Charges will be automatically billed to the member’s account. Members are financially responsible for each class that the child is signed up for, even if they are unable to attend. In case of a rain out, you will not be charged. Tuition may only be pro-rated upon entrance of the junior program, not upon withdrawal. MAKE-UP LESSONS Because of the nature of the class, we are unable to provide refunds for missed classes. However, if your child must miss a class for any reason, we are happy to provide a make-up opportunity. A child can attend any class in their age group MondayThursday as a make-up class; however, to ensure that class sizes are manageable, please contact headtennispro@thebriarclub.com to schedule a make-up class in advance. D R O P- O F F S A N D P I C K- U P S Parents/Guardians must remain on campus for the duration of the lesson. Tennis Pros and Briar Club Staff do not provide aftercare. Parents/Guardians are responsible for the transfer of their children between lessons and other Briar Club programs.

Improve your game and have some serious fun this summer! Our summer programming, Courts, Sports & Splash, is designed to foster a love for tennis and physical activity. Participants will be guided towards actively learning the sport through friendly competition and games.

Soccer, basketball, and other sports activities will be included daily under the covered Sports Court to give the kiddos a break from the summer sun and to further develop other areas of athletic coordination and skill. Each day will conclude with a quick cooldown in the Briar Club pool!

PRICING Ages 5 & Up: $85/day or $160/week 90-minute classes are offered for ages 3-4 and ages 12 & up at rates of $42.50 per day or $120 per week. Register per day on the Junior Tennis Calendar. Credits are only given for weather related or instructor cancellations.

CLASS DESCRIPTION This group class for beginning swimmers emphasizes the skills taught in the Guppies class and includes an introduction to freestyle, rolling over onto the back for a breath, and backstroke.

CLASS DESCRIPTION This is an introductory water orientation class with Mom or Dad! You will learn the necessary skills to safely work with your child throughout their early developmental stages of swimming.

AQUA TOTS 1 9 -30 M O N T H S CLASS SCHEDULE Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays | 10:30 am - 11:00 am Saturdays | 10:00 am - 10:30 am Starting in May 2022 CLASS DESCRIPTION This class is designed to help your toddler polish the basic skills learned in Water Babies. In addition, you will be introduced to more advanced skills to help prepare your toddler for independent instruction.

GUPPIES BE G I N N E R S - 2½-3 YE AR S O LD CLASS SCHEDULE Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm | Starting in May 2022 REQUIREMENTS Swimmers must have participated in Aqua Tots and/or an evaluation by the Aquatics Department to participate. CLASS DESCRIPTION This group class is for beginning swimmers who have participated in an Aqua Tot class. Swimmers will be introduced to submersion, kicking, floating, gliding and personal safety. Children must be able to sit independently on the pool step to participate.

CLASS DESCRIPTION Once your child has mastered all the skills in the Seahorse class, they will be introduced to side-breathing, breaststroke and diving.

LIL’ BARRAC U DAS A DVANC ED - 4- 6 YEARS OLD CLASS SCHEDULE Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm | Starting in March 2022 REQUIREMENTS Swimmers must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke independently halfway across the pool to participate. CLASS DESCRIPTION This is a 45-minute swim team preparation class. During this class, swimmers will practice freestyle, breathing to the side, backstroke, diving, endurance and speed in a fun and positive environment! Plus... Lil’ Barracudas are invited to participate in all fun Barracuda Swim Team activities in May & June, including home swim meets! Lil’ Barracudas Home Exhibition Swim Dates: June 14, 16, 21 & 23 at 4:00 pm Children will meet near the diving boards of the Family Resort Pool.

BARRACUDAS SUMMER SWIM TEAM Ages 5-14 | Competitive Swim Team

Your swimmer is invited to join the Barracuda Summer Swim Team! This special Briar Club tradition provides an excellent learning environment for competitive intermediate and advanced swimmers. Our team competes against various private clubs in and around Houston.

PRE-SEASON SWIM TEAM WORKOUTS Ages 5-14 | Barracuda Swim Team Participants

These workouts are designed to provide swimmers with a kick start for the 2022 Barracuda Summer Swim Team. This workout is strongly recommended for all new Members and new Barracuda participants. Workouts will emphasize stroke development, endurance, and speed in preparation for competitions in a positive team setting.

G E N E R A L I N F O R M AT I O N

Swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool independently in Freestyle and Backstroke. Swimmers between the ages of 5-10 will swim 25 meters and swimmers between the ages of 11-14 will swim 50 meters. All swimmers will compete in freestyle and backstroke in swim meets. Breaststroke, butterfly and relays are limited events. For practice schedules, please refer to the 2022 Swim Team Calendar on page 11.

PRICING

SWIM TEAM COST: $330 per child Full amount of Swim Team is billed in May 2022 to the Members’ account and is not pro-rated due to swimmer’s absence. Pricing includes all practices, t-shirt, swim cap, snacks, swim team parties and banquet. Swimsuits are a separate purchase and will be available in the Briar Shop.

GENERAL Information M AY I B R I N G G U E S T S T O T H E C L U B ? Absolutely! We are always happy to welcome your friends and family to our Club. However, we kindly ask that in accordance with the House Rules, all guests are accompanied by a Member or are participating in a Member-sponsored activity in the fitness, swim, tennis or youth areas of the Club. Guest fees shall be charged to the Member’s account for the use of the Club’s aquatics, tennis and fitness facilities. Guest fees do not apply for dining-only guest visits. All Members and guests are required to sign-in at the Security Desk. Extended & pre-arranged guest visits can be organized by contacting our Membership Department at membership@thebriarclub.com or (713) 622-3667 ext. 2159. HOW DO MY GUESTS GAIN ACCESS TO THE PARKING GARAGE? Guests are free to park in our parking garage. Guests are asked to drive through the guest entry lane and tell the guard on duty what brings them to the Club. Guests will still be required to check in at the pool security desk. M AY I D R O P-O F F MY C H I L D R E N ? Per Briar Club House Rules, no children or guest of Members under the age of 12 years shall access or remain at the Club if unaccompanied by a parent or other adult, unless registered in a specific camp or Briar Fun Day. HOUSEHOLD EMPLOYEES/NANNIES Household employees are permitted access to the Club for the sole purpose of accompanying minor children of a member. Guest fees shall be charged, as appropriate, in the event any such household employee uses Club swim, tennis or fitness facilities. Household employees must be added to your membership account and must have a photo on file before they can enter the Club. Hanging, sitting, or jumping off pool ropes is not permitted. Kickboards are reserved for Lap Pool use only. Pool toys such as inner tubes, “noodles”, large floats, water guns and tennis balls are not permitted in the pools and may be removed by the lifeguards at their discretion. Infants and toddlers must wear waterproof and/ or swim diapers in all Club pools. Diapers must be changed every hour. Parents and guardians must accompany and supervise all children 10 and under anytime they are in a pool area. All children under the age of 5 must be accompanied and supervised at arm’s length by a responsible adult in the Family Pool. Only children 4 & up may use the pool slide. Children must be 7 years old or 48 inches tall to use the High Dive. No flips or somersaults are allowed from the 3-meter diving board. Children must be 5 years old to use the low dive. Lifeguards do not monitor the Baby Pool. Only children 5 years and under may use the Baby Pool and only when accompanied by a parent/ guardian.

LOCKER RENTALS The Briar Club offers long-term locker rentals in both the Family and Fitness Locker Rooms. Please contact Jon Diller at poolmanager@thebriarclub. com or (713) 622-3667 ext. 2126 for information. Day lockers are available for Members and guests for $2 per day. Please see the security desk for day locker rentals. LAP POOL SWIMMING Adults over the age of 18 are permitted to swim in the Competition Lap Pool & Adult Lap Pool during any normal Club operating hours. Children of members who (a) are at least 10 years of age, (b) are actively swimming laps in the Competition Lap Pool, and (c) are supervised by an adult either from the pool deck or next to the child in the water may also use the Competition Lap Pool during normal Club operating hours. We kindly ask that recreational swimming is reserved for the Family Resort Pool, unless otherwise directed by Club management.

Acknowledge and agree that there are dangers and risks inherent in the use of equipment and other amenities at the The Briar Club and in participations in activities at The Briar Club and, therefore, agree to use the Club strictly in accordance with the safety instructions as instructed by the instructors/ supervisors employed by the Club to monitor the use of The Briar Club. The Users further acknowledge and agree that the Club makes no warranties or representations concerning the design, manufacture or instructions for use of the Wellness and Recreation equipment and the Club hereby expressly disclaims any and all such warranties or representations, expressed or implied. The Club warrants only that the Wellness and Recreation equipment will be maintained by the Club in the manner prescribed by the manufacturer thereof. The Users further agree that their participation in any and all activities at The Briar Club is conditioned upon the Users’ strict compliance with the rules and instructions established by the Club for such activities. B. ASSUME THE RISK OF AND THE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR, AND RELEASE, WAIVE AND DISCHARGE, AND AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS, the Club and all of its directors, officers, employees and agents, acting in their respective capacities on behalf of the Club (collectively, the “Releases”) from any and all liability, loss or damage arising out of or from any personal injury to or death of Users and/or any third-party, and/or damage to the property of the Club, the Users, and/ or any third-party, arising out of or relating in any manner to the Users’ use of The Briar Club and/or the Wellness and Recreation equipment, WHETHER CAUSED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, BY THE SOLE OR CONCURRENT NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR FAULT OF ANY ONE OR MORE OF THE RELEASEES AND REGARDLESS OF WHETHER ALLEGED TO BE OR ACTUALLY CAUSED IN COMBINATION WITH THE SAME OR SIMILAR CONDUCT BY ANY THIRD-PARTY. Nothing herein shall constitute a waiver or release by the Users of (a) any claims or causes of action that Users may have against any third-party or parties, other than the Releases, arising out of or from injuries or damages to persons or property incurred by the Users in connection with their use of the Wellness and Recreation Equipment and/or participation in any activity in The Briar Club where such injuries or damages are caused, directly or indirectly, by such third-parties; or (b) the Club‘s breach of its Warranty under paragraph A. PROVIDED, HOWEVER, IN NO EVENT WILL THE CLUB BE LIABLE TO ANY USER FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. ADDITIONALLY, PROVIDED THE CLUB MAINTAINS LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE OF NOT LESS THAT $1,000,000, IN NO EVENT WILL THE CLUB’S LIABILITY TO A USER EXCEED THE LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE MAINTAINED BY THE CLUB. I/We certify that I/we have carefully read this Release, understand all of its terms, am/are signing it voluntarily and that I/we have the capacity and authority to sign on behalf of both myself/ourselves and each minor child or ward, if applicable.
