HOGS & RAGS 8th Annual Charity Rally

By: Wendy Rogers On April 27th, the HOGS & RAGS Charity Rally will be having their 8th Annual Ride. This event is part of the Fayetteville, NC Dogwood Festival. It has been going on for 8 years and seems to get bigger and better every year! This is a charity ride, which supports and donates proceeds to The American Cancer Society, The Shriners Hospital for Children and the Kidsville News Magazine. Don’t let the name fool you; this ride is for any type of motorcycle or car. It doesn’t have to be a Harley or a convertible; you just have to have a compassionate heart and want to help a needing person and get together and socialize with other heartfelt giving people who all have some of the same interests. Because of the success of this event, it has coordinated with the sheriff’s departments all the way to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It starts at the Fayetteville Airborne & Special Ops Museum 7:30am - 8:45am and goes to Rocking A Ranch for a country buffet style breakfast. After breakfast we will stop in Tabor City State Line for a water break and then proceed on to Landry’s at Broadway At The Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This is where we will have lunch and the reverse raffle will be drawn. The reverse raffle will draw 5 names and the winner will come from those. With all this being said, participants need to know and feel good about what they are supporting. Shriners Hospitals

for Children provide the highest quality of care to children with neuromusculoskeletal disease, burns, and other special needs. They provide education and research to improve their facilities for the future. They provide without regard to race, color, creed, sex, disability, or ability to pay. For more information go to www.ShrinersHospitalForChildren. org. The American Cancer Society saves lives and helps aid those in need. It is a nationwide and is made up of all volunteer based organizations that help people get well and stay well, finds some cures, and fights back. To find out th more about American Cancer Society go to www.Cancer.org. Kidsville News, Inc. is an educational resource for children grades K-6th grade. With a nationwide circulation of over 1 million copies, it is for sure a growing resource. The magazine is free of charge and is funded by family-friendly advertisements from local businesses. It was awarded Parent’s Choice Award in 2008 and in 2012. To see more about Hogs & Rags go to the website www.HogsAndRags.com. Hogs & Rags is always held in April on the Saturday of the Dogwood Festival. So mark your calendars for this month, Saturday, April 27th and come join us on this spectacular event. I

do not know about you, but I have had enough of March and am looking forward to April. We anticipated an early spring, but good riding days were few and far between. I am sure that is about to change. The Carolinas’ Full throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar is bustin’ out! NOBODY on the east coast has a more complete list of events than The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar. NOBODY even comes close on distribution, either! I want to take this opportunity to invite you to post your event at www.FullThrottleMagazine.com for FREE. Call me about special rates for charity event advertising. You CAN afford it! I find lots of flyers on obscure websites and Facebook pages and wonder why people would take the time to post them there and not post them on FullThrottleMagazine.com where MOTORCYCLE RIDERS can see them. You can post them 24/7 and your event is seen by all of our readers AND thousands of people who look at the Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar online for their weekend destinations. It’s way cheaper than flyers and it reaches more people. Do it now! I want to thank the advertisers that hang with us year round. Please note the difference between “biker friendly” businesses and “money friendly” businesses. A “biker friendly” business doesn’t put their bike night on the night that they have the least business just to fill their cash drawer. They make sure that they are contributing to the biker community rather than just siphoning money out of our pockets for their own benefit. Support those businesses that are biker owned and operated and tell them that you appreciate them and that you are patronizing their business because you saw them in The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. Choose wisely. Everyone has come to look at the motorcycle community as generous and giving. I am proud that they recognize that in us, but that doesn’t mean that we do not need to make sure that the money is going where it is supposed to go. Times are tough and the worthwhile charities are feeling the pinch, too. Let’s continue our proud tradition of charitable works, but at the same time let everyone beware that we do not take kindly to being used. Now shine up your ride and get ready to enjoy another summer of great rides, events, and camaraderie and watch out for the “crazies” in cages texting and putting on make up.

Tilley H-D Of Salisbury St. Patty’s Day Side Walk Sale By: Grant Eagle Were you out riding on March 16th? Chances are I saw you at Tilley H-D of Salisbury for the St. Patty’s Day Side Walk Sale and Open house. A heck of a crowd poured over all the sale items and inside there were great deals as well. Any time you walk into the store the smell of fresh popcorn takes over and leads you to it. As you browse the latest and greatest merchandise from Harley-Davidson, you will always see someone you know. I was dropping off my scoot for the special spring service (check with the service department for details) and talked to what seemed like 100 friends. I just missed getting my true dual exhaust that some lucky sucker got before I got there. It was marked way, way down for the sale. I enjoyed watching new and old riders picking out their favorite bikes and even some taking them home with them. I am always there pushing our HOG Chapter and it is great seeing all folks that come in the door begin picking out their favorite as they walk in. The parking lot was full. Riders were standing in line to get the service special and some new bolt on’s added, and MotorClothes was very busy. My favorite spot of the day has to be the rocking chairs on the front porch, hands down. You can visit with everyone walking up and meet the new riders as well. I don’t think any-

7 Years Of Rolling Thunder SC3

By: Everette “EZ” Short April 20th of this year, Rolling Thunder Grand Strand Chapter, SC3, will celebrate the 7th year of their local charter, growing from the original 20 members to a family of over 120 dedicated individuals, all working to support Veterans groups and causes on a local and nation-wide basis. I recently attended their monthly meeting at VFW Post 10804 in Little River, SC, where I had a chance to speak with both their current President, Bruce Hutchenson, as well the SC3’s very first elected leader, Emmitt Jones, about this and other upcoming events. I have to say that I was impressed by every one of these great people who have come together to create this outstanding tribe of dedicated warriors. First, you have to know that this is not a “motorcycle club” and you don’t have to be a veteran or even own a motorcycle to join this organization. The SC3 chapter was born in 2005, when after several years of visiting the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall, several friends banded together and decided that a local chapter of Rolling Thunder was needed. The mission of RTSC3 is to educate as many people as possible that many American prisoners of war have been left behind and have be-

come a forgotten legacy by a vast majority of us. RTSC3 goes to schools, educating our children and young people about MIAs. They speak at functions, organize charity events, and ride as a group to promote their noble cause. Rolling Thunder, as a national organization, strives to bring our missing soldiers home and keep their memory alive, so it will, hopefully, never happen again. The amazing part of all this is that these people have come together to work as volunteers, without pay, and they work hard at it. RTSC3 is a non-profit organization that makes a difference by supporting our veterans, both past and present. Monthly meetings are held on the third Sunday of every month, alternating between Little River and Murrells Inlet. They encourage you to come out and attend a meeting, to see what Rolling Thunder is all about and to have a fun time with a reason worth coming out for. Join them on April 21st at VFW Post #10804 and celebrate seven years of goodness with people you will absolutely enjoy. Weather permitting, there is usually a fun ride right after the meeting. Visit their website at www.RollingThunderGrandStrand.com for more information on how you can join them and make a difference.

Ray Price Brunswick Stew Cook-Off

By: Kris Weiss This year’s Brunswick Stew Cook-Off was sponsored by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit of Durham, Cary, and Downtown Raleigh. This year there were 12 entries cooking up their own variations of this unique southern dish, and the names of the teams were just as interesting; Elbow Room, Grey Swamp Stew Masters, and Brothers From Other Mothers, just to name a few. Some cookers arrived as early as 6am to begin stirring up their creations. There were five celebrity judges to help decide the top three places. Russ Stephenson, Raleigh City Councilman, Nathan Rouse, Pastor of Radiant Church, Jim Williams, Director of the Raleigh H.O.G. Chapter, and Greg Woloszczuk, Owner of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. The many customers who turned out to sample the stew decided the People’s Choice trophy. A $5 donation to the Ride For Kids and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation was all you needed to sample all the stew you could eat. The Rex Blood Mobile was on hand to receive blood donations and they added over 40 units to their bank that day. Anyone that wore green to the event got to spin the Ray Price Nitro Prize Wheel for prizes and discounts. Many compliments were received for the band, Eric Strickland and the B Sides, who played their own version of honky tonk country. The crowd swelled to several hundred when it was time to announce the winners of the stew cook-off. Third Place

and $100 went to Jerry Stephenson with Redneck Scientific. Second Place and $250 went to the BBQ Brothers. First Place and $500 went to Freedom Biker Church who said that it will really help with their building fund. The always-coveted People’s Choice Trophy went to Gary Evans with The Smoking Pot. The next big Cook-Off is the Wild Buffalo Wing Cook-Off on July 13th. Get those grills ready and try to win the big prize! Check out all the Ray Price Harley-Davidson events at www. RayPrice.com.

BIKE NIGHT

By: Mark Infield I happened in to Chunk’s Hawg Haven located on the Motorcycle Park next door to Harley-Davidson of Greensboro, North Carolina on a Wednesday night recently. The weather wasn’t very nice, but there were a few bikes parked outside. When I pushed the door open I was pleasantly surprised. The place was rockin’! Everyone was in a real good mood and the juke box was playing old southern rock-n-roll. We hung around for a little bit and when I got ready to leave, I asked for my tab and the bar maid told me the total and I said, “That can’t be right!” She smiled and replied, “Yes it is. It’s $1 off night.” It made me feel so good I ordered another! Chunk’s Hawg Haven, a true biker bar where the beverages are cold and the people are friendly, is operated by Greensboro locals, avid Harley riders, and long time members of the Greensboro HOG® Chapter, Robin and Renee Saul. They are open Wednesday & Thursday 2pm – Until, Friday & Saturday 11am – Until and Sunday 12pm - 8pm. Did I mention that you can smoke inside when the doors are up? Bike night is Friday night at Chunk’s with DJ Jerry Carr. You can check them out on Facebook or better yet, plan to stop by 536 Farragut Street in Greensboro and have a beer.

2013 Burlington L.O.H. Chili Cook Off

By: Scott Wicker As expected, an enormous crowd anticipating great chili at Down Home Harley-Davidson came out on Saturday, March 2nd to show support for the Burlington Ladies Of Harley Annual Chili Cook Off. As in previous years, each of the 5 members participating served an ample portion of chili to those in attendance that made a donation to benefit the Burlington Ladies Of Harley. Baked goods were also sold making this very popular event successful as usual. Many varieties of chili were served giving a variety of different flavors to this year’s event. When all was said and done and all the votes were counted, Myra Crawford was named the 2013 Burlington L.O.H. Chili Bean “Queen”. Myra also received a beautiful trophy and a $50 cash prize for her winning recipe. Myra will also represent the Burlington H.O.G. Chapter at the 27th Annual Bike Show and Chili Cook-Off to be held at Shelton’s Harley-Davidson in Durham, NC on Saturday, March 9th where several of the State’s H.O.G. Chapters will bring their best entries to compete for H.O.G. chapter bragging rights! Congratulations to Myra and thanks also to participants Betty Tucker, Linda Fowler, Deborah Garner, and Dennis Woody for helping make this a fun and successful event! Thanks to Down Home Harley-Davidson for hosting the event and for their warm hospitality and making everyone feel welcome.

Progressive International Motorcycle Show Charlotte Story and photo by Alan Dockery I didn’t see Flo at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show the last weekend of February, but I think she would be proud of the show they put on. This was the second year for the show at the Charlotte Convention Center and a whole lot of motorcyclists enjoyed it. I saw folks I know from all aspects of motorcycling. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff was walking the crowd. The Progressive International Motorcycle Show ain’t like most shows you attend. This show features new motorcycles, with the major brands showing off their newest machines. It included everything from little 50cc bikes for the kids, up to sexy, exotic Italian bikes. Folks looking for a new bike could easily compare one brand to the others in the same room. The large Harley-Davidson display included a Jump Start Bike where people who have always wanted to ride a Harley could run through the gears with the rear tire safely on a roller. When you walk in the first thing you encountered was the Progressive Open Road Experience. The Progressive Girls greeted riders with a variety of freebies and a nice bag to carry the things you gather at the show. There was a booth where you could pose on a bike and through digital magic if would appear that you are riding with Flo. Custom bikes were displayed throughout the show as entries in the JP Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show. With

a large prize purse, the bike show featured some beautiful customs built from all brands of motorcycles. This event had real celebrity appearances, at special activities and on The Podium stage. The celebrities at the PIMS weren’t TV actors playing riders. They were real motorcycling celebrities with riding experiences to talk about. Some we have seen on TV because they are world champion racers. For y’all with international road racing dreams there was the MotoGp Experience. This display allowed you to get up close to MotoGp bikes like they were sitting on the race starting grid. One end of the convention center floor was blocked off for the XDL Street Jam, a competition style stunt show. Several times over the weekend, Aaron Twite and Josh Borne thrilled the crowd with the things they can do on two wheels. It wasn’t all new motorcycles at PIMS. The Antique Motorcycle Club of America was there with some old American bikes promoting the Southern National Meet May 17 & 18 at Denton Farm Park in North Carolina. The Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club showed off bikes that some of us rode back in the 1970’s and Ton Up NC, which sponsors the Bull City Rumble on Main Street in Durham on Labor Day weekend, had a nice collection of British bikes on display. There were interactive parts of the show, too. The Pit Stop Challenge presented by GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing gave people a chance to try their hand at doing a fast rear tire change on a race bike. The Strider Adventure Zone was for kids to enjoy two-wheelers. While The Rider Protection Project Presented By Allstate tested your knowledge of safety gear. A variety of vendors filled the rest of the PIMS offering all kinds of gear for you or your bike. The Progressive International Motorcycle Show offered so much to see and do I was there all day and had to make one more walk around to see what I might have missed. I certainly hope this show returns to Charlotte next year and even more of y’all come out to fight the winter blues by shopping for a new motorcycle or accessories.

Smokin’ Harley-Davidson 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off By: Caroline February 23rd turned out to be a good day despite the threat of cold showers. That made it all the more enticing to come to Smokin’ Harley-Davidson in Winston-Salem, NC to get a bowl of chili - and that is what a lot of folks came out for! Perfect chili weather for a great cause made a lot of people show their support for children’s cancer. Each year in the United States over 12,000 children are diagnosed with cancer making it the number one disease killer of children. This event was held in memory of Vinny DiGerolamo who sadly passed away at age 9 just a few days previously. His parents founded the Kids Of Childhood Cancer Foundation to help raise money for families of kids battling this disease, which is devastating financially, spiritually and physically. If you would like to find out more about this great cause you can go to www.kidsofchildhoodcancer.org. With nearly 20 entries competing for the title of the best chili, there was a lot of different, yet, good varieties to sample. The great thing is that there were almost twice as many as last year and almost $2,000 was raised this year. I had too many favorites, so it was hard for me to vote, as I am sure it was for everyone else that was there. Finally, when all the votes had been cast, it was determined that Vinny’s Dad, Charles, was this year’s first place winner.

Congratulations to Mr. DiGerolamo and to his family who was there helping with the cooking and serving. Also, congratulations to Gary Bristow who placed second. If you all were there last year, you will remember Gary came in first. We all look forward to Smokin’ Harley-Davidson 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff next year and hope all the contestants will return with their great recipes. There doesn’t have to be an event to stop by 3441 Myer Lee Drive (I-40 Bus, Exit 10) in Winston-Salem, NC for a visit at Smokin’ Harley-Davidson. Just do it!

Bikes On The Border

Licensed & Insured

By: Jeff Hennie, MRF Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs The weekend of March 15-16 saw the inaugural “Bikes On The Border”, a motorcycle rights event held on the border of South and North Carolina. The single day event was the brainchild of the McGrath & Danielson Law Group (MotorcycleLawGroup.com) and supported by the local SMRO’s. The MRF would like to thank our friends at McGrath & Danielson Law Group and ABATE of South Carolina who hosted the hospitality suite and did a lot of the promotional/boots on the ground preparation for this event! Described as a “mini Meeting of the Minds”, the event was designed to educate the attendees about motorcycle laws and legislation. It also served as a networking session for the who’s who of the motorcycle rights world in the southeast corner of this country. The Midwest has STEAM (Seminar To Educate And Motivate) and Mid-South MILE (Motorcyclist Improving Legislative Effectiveness). “Not every one can attend an MRF regional event or the annual Meeting of the Minds, so these smaller, more local events are a great supplement and provide an opportunity to discuss state and local laws in great depth”, said Jeff Hennie, Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs for the MRF (MRF.org). Hennie attended and presented at Bikes On The Border. The event was held at the world famous roadside attraction known as “South of the Border” (www.TheSouthOfTheBorder.com). If you have ever traveled on I-95 between North and South Carolina, you know where it is. Overall it was a great event with a promising future. Editor’s Note: The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine was at Bikes On The Border and appreciates the efforts Ralph & Sherry Bell of SC ABATE for the hospitality room, Tom McGrath, Matt Danielson, & Jim Cannon of McGrath & Danielson Law Group, & Jeff Hennie from MRF for their presentations. The sessions were informative and the location was great. We have been stopping at South Of The Border for gas for over 50 years, but this was the first time I stayed there and took in the whole deal. It was great to visit with everyone who attended. As always, McGrath & Danielson Law Group leads the way in motorcycle rights advocacy.

The Ray Price Akea Express Drag Racing Team will begin its 2013 season in the newly formed National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series, at the Royal Purple Raceway in Houston, Texas on Friday, March 1. The team of Ray Price, Jeremy Hoy, Justin Heinle, Mark Morgan and rider Tommy Grimes are excited about the start of another race-packed season. In 2012, they won four races, were runner-up four times and made it to the finals eight times in the 15-race schedule. Overall, the team finished number two in points in the AHDRA series. The team consistently finishes in one of the top spots every year. The team will compete at 10 NHRA races from March through November in addition to the American Motorcycle Racing Association (AMRA) race in Rockingham, NC with the possibility of additional races throughout the year. “Since the new bike won’t be ready for the beginning of the season, we will start out with last year’s bike,” Price said. “However, we have built new clutch parts and various assemblies to replace the race-worn units used for the last number of years. Specialty parts are designed and built in-house from scratch then added to the bike.” The Ray Price Akea Express Drag Racing Team lost in the first round of eliminations after qualifying in the number three spot at their first National

Hot Rod Association (NHRA) HarleyDavidson Drag Racing Series race of the season at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston, Texas during the weekend of March 1-3. Rider Tommy Grimes hit 231.56 mph with a time of 6.675 seconds in the first run on Friday. This was the first run of the bike since its recent additions of revamped clutch parts and other assemblies. Grimes improved in Saturday’s first round, 6.541 seconds at 247.29 mph. The second round, scheduled to take place on Saturday, was canceled due to weather. The team placed as the number three qualifier for the day. “The weather was very cold,” Ray Price, team owner, said. “We had potential for making a good pass, but the timers weren’t operating properly. Cold weather generates a lot of power, and we were looking forward to turning some good numbers under those conditions.” The next race scheduled for the team is April 12-13 at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Virginia. Ray Price, nicknamed “Father of the Funnybike,” began his drag racing career in 1967 and became one of the drag racers sponsored by Harley-Davidson for a number of years. Since the accident that ended his riding career in 2003, he has continued to maintain a successful team with the same crew for more than a decade with various riders, having Tommy Grimes as the sole rider in recent years.

The Shannon Murphy Helpers Tour

By: Everette “EZ” Short’ Early on Saturday morning, two sunrises after St. Valentine’s day, there were dew drops still clinging to the roses on the table in front of Patty’s Dew Drop Inn when we got there. By 11am on February 16th, more than thirty bikes were lined up, revving their engines all around this little bar in Surfside, SC to salute Shannon Murphy. With a battle cry of “Saddle up!”, we came out of the lot and turned down King’s Highway to kick off The Shannon Murphy Helpers Tour. Dave and Patty, from Patty’s Dew Drop Inn have hosted countless charity runs over the years for fine causes, but this time the run was to benefit their own beautiful daughter Shannon, who has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Even if her surgery is 100% successful, she will need extensive treatment that is very expensive. On a short jaunt south, The Sundowner was our next stop, where poker cards were drawn, cold beers were clinked, and tales that brought wild laughter were told for a hot minute out on the back deck. The sun was shining brightly above us, quickly warming up the beach, even while the TV weatherman was spitting out warnings of an imminent ice and snow storm set to arrive by 3pm. We paid it no mind. Soon enough, we left to cruise up Highway 17 to The Bowery, on the boardwalk, smack dab in the middle of Myrtle Beach proper. By this

time, we had gathered momentum as more riders fell in line along the way. We managed to cover almost an entire block on Ocean Boulevard. It has been awhile since The Bowery has seen that many bikes parked along its row. Even as we were putting the kickstands down, giant thunderheads began crowding the skies to the West. In the time it took to down a beer, the temperature dropped 20º and everyone ran for their sleds to jump on and scoot up to Donny’s Saloon on 3rd Ave. South. I gotta tell you, once we were at Donny’s, there was a lot of good old fashioned ass shaken and butt grabbing going on, until we looked out into the parking lot to see snowflakes sticking on the bikes and the road. Most of us didn’t even bother finishing our beers, before we were back on the road and hot to reach The Hollywood Saloon in a mix of slush and rain. It didn’t take long to be back at Patty’s where we settled in for a fish fry, foody fixings, great fun and prizes. Imagine our surprise when we came rushing around the corner to get out of the rain and snow, only to find almost 700 people waiting there to help. What a great surprise to also see Shannon Murphy had felt well enough to come to the party. In the end, the event raised over $15,500 and the smiles were tearful as everyone gathered together to lift up this beautiful woman who deserved our help. Good job everyone and God Bless you Shannon.

www.Harley-DavidsonNewbern.com By: Mike Spencer For those who braved the cold temperatures Saturday, March 2nd for the 8th Annual New Bern HOG Chili Contest and Ride For The Warriors, the chili tasted that much better. A total of 24 bikes went on a nice morning ride while even more people showed up to get in on the chili. The weather may have been on the frigid side, but the forecasted rain did not make an appearance. Special thanks to Sgt. Craft of the Craven County Sheriff’s Department for helping us with traffic and getting us on the road. The route took us through Craven and Jones County. Nice rolling curves and very little traffic made it a very enjoyable cruise. A total of 11 people entered the chili contest. All entries were delicious, especially for those of us coming back from the ride! For a small donation, people got to choose from several crock pots of chili complete with all the fixins. The judging was close but in the end the trophy and $50 Harley gift certificate went to Stephanie Wetherington. Congrats to her and thanks to Randy Davis for coordinating the contest! Those who didn’t ride with us still gave generously. By the end of the event we raised more than $500 for Wounded Warriors Battalion of Camp Lejuene! It was a great day made even better by being able to raise money for our Warriors. A special thanks to Jimmie and Sheila of New Bern HarleyDavidson for hosting the event and to all those who came out early to help set up!

David Uhl Releases 2013 Daytona Commemorative Painting On March 7th, renowned HarleyDavidson artist, David Uhl released his new Daytona Commemorative image for 2013, The subject of this year’s painting was inspired by an old black & white photo taken during the beginnings of both motorcycling and aviation. “Wing and a Prayer” is David’s take on the amazing barnstormers who wowed the crowds on Florida’s beaches in the ’20’s. You might recognize a familiar face in the painting, which is set on Ormond Beach, The Birthplace of Speed, sometime in the mid-1930s. The image features Dale Walksler of Wheels Through Time Museum located in beautiful Maggie Valley, NC hanging from the ladder! The bike is a 1935 Harley-Davidson VL with left hand sidecar. Once again, David has brought archival black and white imagery to life in color! For more information and offerings of David Uhl’s other work visit www. UhlStudios.com. In March, Dale Walksler was featured on RFD-TVs newest hit show “Small Town Big Deal” which brought its viewers to visit the Wheels Through Time Museum, highlighting one of America’s most famous motorcycling destinations and how it came to be in the small town Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Host Rodney Miller was more than impressed with the museum, and called it the “most amazing collection of rare motorcycles [he’d] ever seen, and the

best venue to learn the history of these rare motorbikes.” If you have not visited Wheels Through Time (The Museum That Runs) check them out at www.WheelsThroughTime.com and then get on your bike and ride to Maggie Valley and visit the best motorcycle museum on the east coast. According to Buzz Kanter (I read it in American Iron Magazine), “The Discovery Channel will soon be airing a series called “What’s In The Barn?” It follows Dale Walksler around the country as he locates and drags old motorcycles out of hibernation. He’ll look a bike over and try to figure out its history, then he’ll bring it to Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC, and get it running.” Watch for this interesting motorcycle “picker type” show. Knowing Dale, I am sure it will be very interesting.

19th Annual Burlington H.O.G. Hospice Bike Show

By: Scott Wicker The threat of severe winter weather had no effect on this year’s 19th Annual Burlington H.O.G. Hospice Bike Show. In fact, it will go down as one of the group’s most successful bike shows ever. The event was held at the Holly Hill Mall on February 16th and 17th. Over 90 motorcycles represented 39 categories to raise over $20,521 for Hospice of Alamance and Caswell Counties. Contributions were also raised through sales of 50/50 tickets and a bake sale held at the event. The Softail Class, with 16 entries, raised over $4,000, the most raised as a class. Each bike had milk jugs tied to the front wheel so spectators could make contributions by putting money in the jug of their favorite bike. As in years past, everyone was allowed to raise contributions prior to the event. Trophies were awarded to those who raised the most in each class and also to those who raised the 2nd and 3rd highest amounts. All the bikes were also judged separately by a panel of judges making it two shows in one. As in years past, the support was overwhelming. The winners and top finishers in each class are as follows. By: Jennifer LeVine The new Easy Eddie’s LLC located at 225 South Broad Street in Mooresville, NC had an open house on Saturday, March 16th. Eddie plans on having his Grand Opening June 1st. Now that date is not set in stone and will be announced to you all as soon as we know for sure. They had a great turnout. Inside the garage area they were doing bike inspections, oil changes, etc. Also adding any accessories the bikers wanted to customize their ride. They were keeping Doc and the rest of the gang very busy. They did take a break though to play some guitar. Up front they were giving away prizes from the raffle every half hour and assisting a slew of customers at the counters. The JWL Girls (www.jwlgirls.com) were also there set up on the side of the building. They were giving away green frosted cupcakes in honor of St. Paddy’s Day! I interview Howard Overcash, a firefighter, about safe riding. Howard also loves to ride. His advice to all of us is to stay cautious, keep the safety inspections up, tires inflated, and by far the most important: BE DEFENSIVE! Howard said most of all our defensive driving is especially important when on a bike. So if you are in the area, cruise on over to Easy Eddie’s LLC for all your motorcycle needs or visit them on the web at EasyEddiesMotorcycles.com Be safe all.

By: Judy Bortz Fundz For Friends was a gathering of love and respect for a man who spent the last 37 years building his business on motorcycles. Scott Britt opened Britt’s Motorsports in Wilmington 37 years ago, and 5 other stores followed. Now those last 2 stores have fallen under this harsh economy. Both Scott and his sister Debbie who managed the Fayetteville shop wanted to express their gratitude for the loyalty and support of their friends and neighbors while trying to save the family business. Not only did Scott help many riders find the perfect bike, he was an icon of the Wilmington bike scene. He sponsored, coordinated, and rode in just about every charity ride in Wilmington. He stepped up for people who needed a helping hand, organizations that were looking for support, children, the military, all while trying to save his own business, his own life. He fought the hard fight throughout for himself and his Britt Motorsports family. It was heartwarming to see so many people out to stand up for him. If you couldn’t make the ride to show your support, it is not too late. There is a Facebook page you can find by searching Fundz For Friends and donate from there. Any help you can give is very much appreciated, and a step in his financial recovery. I am not sure what this new riding season will bring to the greater Wilmington area, but I do know that there will be a big hole where Britt’s used to be! The great rides from Britt Motorsports will be sorely missed by the entire community, not the man himself though; he will be out riding, and working to bring Britt’s back in some new incarnation! The business may be gone, but the heart of it is beating strong in the founder, and I believe the old saying…”you can’t keep a good man down”! Thank you, Scott Britt, for all your years of friendship, brotherhood, charity, loyalty, and professionalism. None of these things can ever be lost, because all of them are what make you…you!

Defense Attorney: “Will you please state your age?” Little Old Lady: “I am 86 years old.” DA: “Will you tell us, in your own words, what happened the night of April 1st?” LOL: “There I was, sitting there in my swing on my front porch on a warm spring evening, when a young man comes creeping up on the porch and sat down beside me.” DA: “Did you know him?” LOL: “No, but he sure was friendly.” DA: “What happened after he sat down?” LOL: “He started to rub my thigh.” DA: “Did you stop him?” LOL: “No, I didn’t stop him.” DA: “Why not?” LOL: “It felt good. Local residents were stunned, and a community spokesman said: “We’re all shocked; we never knew we had a library.”

to talk to you. We have some bikers up here who are causing problems. They’re swinging on the pearly gates, my horn is missing, and they are wearing T-shirts instead of robes; there’s barbecue sauce and picante sauce everywhere, especially all over their T-shirts; their dogs are riding in the chariots, and chasing the sheep; they’re wearing doo rags and baseball caps instead of their halos. They refuse to keep the stairway to heaven clean, and their boots are marking and scratching up the halls of wisdom. There are sunflower seeds and hot wing bones all over the place. Some of them are walking around with just one wing; they refuse to walk and insist on bringing their “Hogs” with them.” The Lord said, “bikers are bikers, Gabriel. Heaven is home to all my children. If you want to know about real problems, call the Devil.” The Devil answered the phone, “Hello. Hold on a minute.” The Devil returned to the phone, “O.K., I’m back. What can I do for you?” Gabriel replied, “I just want to know what kind of problems you’re having down there.” The Devil said, “Hold on again. I need to check on something.” After about 5 minutes the Devil returned to the phone and said, “I’m back. Now what was the question?” Gabriel said, “What kind of problems are you having down there?” The Devil said, “Man, I don’t believe this, hold on.” This time the Devil was gone 15 minutes. The Devil returned and said, “I’m sorry Gabriel, I can’t talk right now. Those damn bikers have put out the fire and are trying to install air conditioning.”

What’s the difference between an illegal Mexican and ET? ET looked better, learned English, didn’t claim benefits, had his own bike, and wanted to go home! Suddenly, over the public address system, the Captain announces, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m afraid I have some very bad news. Our engines have ceased functioning and we will attempt an emergency landing. Luckily, I see an uncharted island below us and we should be able to land on the beach. However, the odds are that we may never be rescued and will have to live on the island for the rest of our lives!” Thanks to the skill of the flight crew, the plane lands safely on the island. An hour later Abe turns to his wife and asks, “Esther, did we pay our VISA and MasterCard bills yet?” “No, sweetheart,” she responds. Abe, still shaken from the crash landing, then asks, “Esther, did we pay our American Express card yet?” “Oh, no! I’m sorry. I forgot to send the check,” she says. “One last thing Esther. Did you remember to send the estimate check to the IRS this quarter?” he asks. “Oh, forgive me, Abe,” begged Esther. “I didn’t send that one, either.” Abe grabs her and gives her the big-

According to the left wing zealots we have in politics.......We’re not supposed to judge all Muslims by the acts of a few “crazies”. But the acts of a few American “crazies” is enough to judge all Americans who own guns!

The only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon “quickie” with their 8-year-old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony with a popsicle and tell him to report on all the neighborhood activities. “There’s a car being towed from the parking lot,” he shouted. He began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation: “An ambulance just drove by!” “Looks like the Andersons have company,” he called out. “Matt’s riding a new bike!” “Looks like the Sanders are moving!” “Jason is on his skate board!” After a few moments he announced, “The Coopers are having sex!!” Startled, his mother and dad shot up in bed. Dad cautiously called out, “How do you know they’re having sex?” “Jimmy Cooper is standing on his balcony with a popsicle.” “Have you ever seen a twenty dollar bill all crumpled up?” asked the wife. “No,” I said. She gave me a sexy little smile, slowly reached into her cleavage and pulled out a crumpled twenty-dollar bill. “Have you ever seen a fifty dollar bill all crumpled up?” she asked. “No,” I said. She gave me another sexy little smile, seductively reached into her panties and pulled out a crumpled fiftydollar bill. “Now,” she said, “Have you ever seen 30,000 dollars all crumpled up?” “No,” I said, intrigued. “Well, go and take a quick look in the garage.” Gabriel came to the Lord and said, “I have

I’m reaching out on behalf of a friend of mine who needs some help! His wife told him to go out and get some of those pills that would help him get an erection. When he came back, he handed her some diet pills. Anyway, he’s looking for a place to live. Can you help him? I was at the bar the other night and overheard three very hefty women talking at the bar. Their accent appeared to be Scottish, so I approached and asked, “Hello, are you three lassies from Scotland?” One of them angrily screeched, “It’s Wales, Wales you bloody idiot!” So I apologized and replied, “I am so sorry. Are you three whales from Scotland?”
And that’s the last thing I remember.

Must Be Atleast 18 Years Old To Attend

By: Ron Vaughn On February 23rd American Cycle Works in Gastonia, NC celebrated two years of business serving the big V-Twin motorcycle industry. American Cycle Works provides bike repairs, upgrades, custom work, dyno tuning, and accessories. Richie is the main man for the shop work and has many years of experience in V-Twin bikes. American Cycle Works is located on Olive Branch Road, Gastonia, NC, a couple of miles off of I-85 toward Bessemer City. Riders stopped by from 11:00 “until” for great BBQ and beverages provided by American Cycle owner Danny Plemmons. The BBQ was cooked by Danny, his brother in law David helped, and the food/beverages were served by some of the ladies. The BBQ was really tasty and good. Danny did a great job. There were about 100 riders there through out the day. Some people were gathered in the shop area discussing bikes with Richie, and the eating area was packed with friends doing their thing. Danny was all over the building with the cooking, talking, and everything else to take care of at the event. It is always good to see riders of all ages, male and female, having fun with their friends and discussing their bikes with them. I talked with everyone that I could and had a really great time. American Cycle Works would like to thank everyone for attending the two-year anniversary in spite of the cold wet weather.

Ray Price Triumph Vintage Day

By: Sarah Hager Ray Price Triumph in Raleigh, NC took its customers back in time to celebrate its inaugural Vintage Day classic car and bike show on Saturday, March 2nd. The street outside of Ray Price was lined with vintage models of cars and bikes, some dating back more than 60 years. Motorcycles included classic Triumph Bonnevilles, H-D Sportsters, a Royal Enfield, a BSA, and more. The NC MG Car Club also showcased a selection of their favorite cars. To add to the atmosphere, Beatles tribute band Rubber Soul (www.reverbnation.com/rubbersoulnc) performed throughout the day. The crowd sang along to classic Beatles tunes and danced, enjoying the sunny weather. Food trucks were set up at the top of the hill. While attendees waited for made-to-order food from Philly’s Cheesesteaks or Klaussie’s Pizza, they had a great view of Raleigh’s downtown skyline. Brian Shaffer and Chad Bebout of Ton-Up North Carolina (www.tonup-nc.com) judged the show. Vintage Day plaques were awarded mid-afternoon to Dave Mims as the 1st place winner and Chuck Reuben for second place in the bike show. “We had a good turnout,” said Kristie Holsclaw of Ray Price Triumph. “We’re looking forward to making this an annual event.” Ray Price Triumph is an independently owned dealership

in Raleigh, NC. It was the recipient of the “Best New Dealer” award for 2010 and was named “#1 Dealer in the Region” for 2012*. American Motorcyclist Association grassroots@ama-cycle.org Washington, DC: In response to concerns expressed by the AMA and power equipment makers, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued new guidelines to help ensure that motorcyclists and others don’t inadvertently use E15 fuel. On Feb. 7, the EPA posted a new option for retailers on its website’s “E15: Misfueling Mitigation Plans” page to try to avoid misfueling by consumers. Under the new option, retailers who use a blender pump to sell E15 and E10 fuel through the same hose must also have a separate E10/E0 fuel pump. Those retailers would be required to have a label on the blender pump that reads: “Passenger Vehicles Only. Use in Other Vehicles, Engines and Equipment May Violate Federal Law.” Retailers would also be required to have signs indicating the location of the dedicated E10-orlower fuel pump. There would be no minimum-fuel-purchase requirement at that pump. Retailers who want to sell E15 also have the option of having a dedicated E15 pump or hose, or a pump that dispenses E15 and higher ethanol blends through a single hose. If a blender pump dispenses multiple fuels that include E15 and higher ethanol blends, the EPA may require a minimum purchase requirement.

HB109 - Mandatory Helmet Use Repeal Bill

By: Charles Boone Vice President CBA/ABATE of NC The NC House of Representatives Transportation Committee held a hearing on Tuesday, March 12th and among its considerations was HB 109 Require Safety Helmets/18 and Under (the mandatory helmet law repeal bill). Representatives John Torbett (R) Gaston Co. and Michael Speciale (R) Beaufort, Craven, Pamlico sponsored the bill. At the beginning of the hearing, Representative Torbett spoke on the bill, outlining the reasons for supporting the bill and what the committee could expect to hear from people that oppose the bill. He pointed out that if the legislature was truly concerned about safety maybe they should require helmets for pedestrians, auto drivers and their passengers, as there are more people killed in these categories than in motorcycle accidents. He also spoke about the freedom aspect and letting people make their own choice regarding helmet usage. The next person to speak on the bill was NC Concerned Bikers Association Legislative Director, Thomas “Doc Ski” Waseleski. He noted that government agencies often make their studies reflect the point of view that they have already decided upon. He stressed that the objection from the organization was not about the helmet itself, but of the law requiring its use. He pointed out that the law should allow adult riders to make the choice for themselves. The next speaker was a surgeon from WakeMed who said that as medical providers, they felt that helmets saved lives, and that if even one life was saved that helmets were beneficial. His comments were received with due respect, but he really didn’t hurt our efforts, and he didn’t come forth with any horror stories about us registering as “organ donors” like has occurred in the past. The next speaker represented an organization called “Action for Children NC”. He cited some “facts” that were in actuality half-truths. That is, he didn’t really tell any lies, he just didn’t tell the whole story. He also cited a recent poll that said that a large percentage of North Carolinian’s favored the mandatory helmet law. I’m pretty sure they didn’t ask anyone I know what they thought of the current helmet law. Committee members asked several questions about the bill, most of the questions seemed to be formed to support the bill. There was an amendment entered that raised the age requirement from over 18 years of age to 21 and over. The amendment was accepted by the sponsor and cleared by a voice vote of the committee. Later discussion indicated that they may want to raise the insurance requirement from the proposed $10,000 to a higher amount, but the committee chair requested further information on this. The allotted time for the committee meeting ran out before the bill could come to a vote. It was placed on the agenda for the next meeting. The next Transportation Committee meeting was scheduled to start at noon on March 19th. With a floor session in the House of Representatives scheduled for 1pm, it was announced that the Transportation Committee meeting would

be shortened to 45 minutes. We were also informed that no further public comment or handouts to members would be allowed at this meeting. HB109 was the first item on the agenda. Representative Torbett was counting heads, and with several of the expected “Yes” members absent at the onset, he pulled the bill from consideration for this meeting. On March 26th the House Transportation Committee met at noon. HB109 was the 2nd item on the agenda. Representative Torbett reviewed actions taken at the previous hearings. There were several questions posed by committee members about public costs and the insurance provision, and also questions about not charging court costs for this infraction. When asked whether he would consider changing the amount of insurance required, Representative Torbett replied that he would be happy to lower it. This brought a laugh, and the matter was dropped. After about 20 minutes of discussion, the vote was called for. The bill passed by voice vote at that time. The bill will now go to the House Judiciary B committee. When it passes there, it should go to the House floor for a vote. From there it will go to the Senate where we go through the same process again. To keep up with the bill, go to ncleg. net, enter the bill number (H109) and it will show you the bill and what action is scheduled for it. You can also find who your representatives are and contact info for them on the website. There is also a list of Transportation Committee members available and it could not hurt for us to thank the supporters. Make those phone calls and send those e-mails to Judiciary Committee B. Form letters don’t mean much to them, but personal e-mails do. Take action to restore a little bit of liberty to our state. This could be our best opportunity to get this legislation passed. Please help by getting involved and contacting Judiciary B Committee members and your representatives. How easy can it get? Helmet/no helmet – you can make a difference. DO IT NOW! If you need help, contact Charlie Boone at 919-269-4193 fbird54@bellsouth.net or call 336-885-5400 or Mark@FTCarolinas.com.

Cox And Horne Team Up For 2013 Harley-Davidson Championship

Bojangles Returns As Mark Cox Racing Sponsor Mark Cox has joined the Horne Racing Team for the 2013 NHRA Harley-Davidson Racing Series. He and Douglas Horne will be competing on Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the Top Fuel class in a two-bike effort. Mike Romine of Romine Racing, who builds and prepares the bikes for Horne Racing, is building a new bike for Mark Cox. Cox is anticipating racing in seven of the NHRA’s ten (10) Harley-Davidson events this season. Cox will also compete in selected AMRA events as well. “We’re excited to be working with Mark,” said Steve Horne of Horne Racing. “We got into racing as a family with my son, daughter, wife and I. Mark is involved in racing with his family, Mom, Dad and brother. That’s a positive and makes sense for all of us. He runs and conducts himself in a professional manner, which meshes well between us. We are going to be able to gather much more information by running a two-bike team. We can gather information twice as fast to move the entire team further quicker with the data we aquire.” “I’m truly excited to be working with the Horne family and Mike & Patty Romine on an exciting championship run this season,” said Mark Cox, a former AHDRA Pro Dragster National champion. “We’ve got Bojangles back as our primary sponsor and it’s going to be great to introduce them to some new fans in NHRA. The innovative NHRA Series provides a higher profile series and we’re excited to see Harley-Davidson signed up with NHRA for four years with this thrilling Series. “Although we had hoped to start the season at Houston on March 1-3, the new bike is not completed yet. We want to be ready and do some testing before we unload at the track for one of these races.” Mark Cox Racing teamed with Romine Racing last year for a couple Pro Fuel races with the All Harley Drag Racing

Association (AHDRA). Cox was runner-up to Douglas Horne on Jack Romine’s Pro Fuel bike at Rockingham last fall and captured a win at the Spring Rockingham event on a Johnny Vickers Hawaya Racing prepared Pro Dragster. “I know Mike prepares a meticulous bike and he knows how to fine tune his way to Victory Lane,” said Cox, of Fleetwood, North Carolina. “It’s going to be great to ride one of his tuned bikes with Horne Racing. In past years Cox and Romine competed against each other in the Top Fuel class with AHDRA and IHRA competition. With the youth and successful Douglas Horne and my experience and feedback of riding and racing, we expect to be a very formidable team out to attack the NHRA championship with our two-bike effort.” Cox will start the season at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Virginia on April 12-13, although Douglas Horne will compete at the inaugural NHRA race in Houston on an existing bike. “Although we will miss race one out of the ten races NHRA offers in the new series, only seven of ten counts for points. Starting at Virginia will still keep us on track for the championship hunt.” Follow us on Facebook at “Mark Cox” of Fleetwood, NC.

By: Wendy Rogers Della Madonna Bordeaux Knowles with the Steele Angels had an accident March 10 and passed away March 12, 2013. This woman has been riding motorcycles since she was 6 years old. Her dad still has her first bike from when she was a child. She had a passion for motorcycles. She had a passion for life. She was a loving and caring and giving person. Anyone who knew her would say the same thing. She has three beautiful children and was one of the best moms I have ever known. Her family and friends are going to miss her dearly, I know, but we have to know that she is still with us in our memories and our hearts. The Steele Angels is going to start a trust fund for the children. Thanks to a special friend in Daytona, Florida, Legend’s Pub, The Borinqueneers MC, and many, many others that are contributing. I want to thank all of you for your help in doing this. The Steele Angels lead her on her final ride to her resting place. That is what she always said she wanted, so that is what she got. She is, for sure, now a true guardian angel above. Della, we miss you and we will always have you in our hearts forever and ever.

Hells Angel - A Brother And A Peacemaker Craig Morris

By: Wendy Rogers It was a sad day for Hells Angels and friends and family of Craig Morris. Craig died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning 19 February 2013 around 2:50am. He was shot by another man while riding his motorcycle down Bragg Boulevard. Craig Morris, 50, was a retired 1st Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Born 29 October 1962, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in homeland security counter terrorism from the American Military University. He was an outstanding Marine for nearly 30 years. He went to the Gulf Wars and did two tours of duty in Iraq. He received several commendations throughout his career, and just retired in 2010. Until his death he was working at Fort Bragg, NC as an independent contractor training special operations for the military. That in itself should demonstrate how much he gave to the military. It was his life. He trained in karate in the USA and Okinawa, Japan. He was a third degree black belt. He also trained in Samurai sword fighting. To think of doing all this for our country and then to be taken away by such a terrible and tragic way is a hard pill to swallow. We never know why things happen the way they do. We all wonder why things happen the way they do, never take life for granted. Craig was a good man and he will always be remembered by all his friends and family. He has four children of Virginia, Jacqueline, Chloe, Tiffany, and Quentin. All his family said

83

he loved life and lived it to its fullest. He loved motorcycles, planes, parachuting, and he really loved his kids. They say he was very humble and loyal. All his family and friends and brothers and sisters and his children will miss him. A memorial was held for Craig on March 9th at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville and a closing ceremony held at Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville. Craig will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. If you would like to donate toward the Morris Children’s College fund, all donations can be sent to P.O. Box 7032, Williamsburg, VA 23188.

The smell of salt air, leather, dust, and exhaust mixed with the sound of thunder and good times hasn’t changed. It’s Bike Week 2013 in Daytona Beach, USA. However, the stretch of US 1 between I-95 exit 89 and Main Street isn’t quite the same as when The Jungle Cruiser rolled hard off the interstate in 1988 carrying a biker band from Georgia! 2013 will be a Silver Anniversary for JB Walker and The Cheap Whiskey Band at The “World Famous” Iron Horse Saloon and twentyfive years serving up their brand of American Motor Music at Daytona Bike Week. Over the last quarter century JB Walker and The Cheap Whiskey Band have performed at The Harley-Davidson Bike Week Show six years, Big Daddy Rat’s Chopper Show for ten years, The Camel Roadhouse at The Full Moon Saloon five years, The Daytona Motor Speedway, Swapatona, New Smyrna Speedway, shows at The World Famous Band Shell on the beach, Hawaiian Tropics MTV shows, five years at The Adams Mark-Hilton, three campgrounds, The Peabody Auditorium, and so many other shows the band’s memory is taxed trying to recall. However there is one place where you have always been able to get a shot of The Cheap Whiskey Band of which they are most proud, twenty-five years at The “World Famous” Iron Horse Saloon, 1068 North US 1 Ormond Beach, Florida. Hell Yea! The band has performed exclusively at The Iron Horse Saloon Since 2003 and is back for the 2013 rally. Congratulations to our friends JB Walker and the Cheap Whiskey Band Celebrating 25 Years at the “World Famous” Iron Horse Saloon.

Bros & Bro-ettes

I want to say thank you to “Cowboy” for coming by my office the other day. We had a great visit spending a few hours talking about old times, good times, and times we are not going to tell anyone else about! We realized how old we are and that we didn’t get this old being stupid, like we see some of the younger ones doing today. It is amazing how smart we have become! You say there are a lot of Bros nicknamed Cowboy, so which one? Well, some of you are old enough to know, and he and I know, but what’s important is that we are able to laugh and enjoy seeing each other. Why is that so important? Well, you see, we were on different “teams” once upon a time and were supposed to be enemies, but we always respected each other, had mutual friends, and maintained our friendship. Sometimes we are divided by who we ride with, by what we ride, by what town we live in, by what side of the state we live on, by what our favorite color(s) happens to be. Sometimes we are divided by skin color, nationality, religion, politics; and the list goes on and on. I can’t help but wonder if it is really necessary? Does it prove a point? Is anything actually gained or accomplished? Look how divided our Nation is; and what good is coming from it? Yes, my life has changed since way back then and so has his. We both love Jesus, Family, Life, and our Brothers! So what happened to the enemy part? We just never gave it an important place between us, and now it’s something to just talk and

laugh about because, now we are on the same team! Many say there is just as much division in Christianity as anywhere else. Yes, there can be, or you can give it no important place between you, laugh about it, and know that because of Jesus you are on the same team. Jesus is not looking at our colors, what we ride, who we ride with, where we live, or what our denomination or religion and politics are. He’s looking at our hearts! Are you on His Team! A simple visit from a friend reminded me where I was and where I am now and that I owe it all to Jesus! A lot of problems could be solved, a lot of wars prevented, a lot of divisions removed with a little respect for others, maintaining friendships, and accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Pray the Biker’s Prayer on this page, mean it in your Heart as you pray it out loud, and let’s all realize we are now on the same “team” and come on, let’s ride together. Thanks again, Cowboy, see you in Church!

2013 CHDDA Ride For Life Tour Stirring Up Excitement Looking for Motorcycle Enthusiasts to join the ride!

The 2013 CHDDA Ride For Life Tour is a 4-month promotion conducted by the Carolina Harley-Davidson® Dealers Association and participating H-D® dealers. It is intended to promote visits to Harley-Davidson dealerships and to inspire riders to get on their bikes and explore their own state. Participating riders will receive a “tour passport” which is then presented to dealership staff at each location visited. Each visit entitles rider to receive a specific store’s stamp and entry tickets into a prize drawing that is conducted at the conclusion of the promotion. This year, MDA has partnered up with the participating dealers and riders to help raise funds to aid MDA’s research and services program for children and young adults with muscular dystrophy. At the conclusion of the event, one grand prize winner will be randomly drawn at the event finale at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC between 1 & 5 pm, Saturday, July 27. The grand prize winner will receive the Ultimate V.I.P. Experience at the Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary Celebration in Milwaukee. That grand prize includes a hotel stay, H-D Museum access, V.I.P. parking, a seat at each of the 3 headline concerts and much more. Other prizes throughout the Passport Tour include 110th

merchandise, dealer hats and T-shirts, a $200 H-D gift card to one person registered from each of the 33 dealerships, prizes from MDA for fundraising and commemorative Road Warrior Tour pins to riders who complete the tour and complete the pin request form at their participating home dealer. Riders may register for the tour at their local, participating Harley-Davidson dealer or online at CarolinasHDTour.com and can earn entries into the drawing from Saturday, March 30 – Saturday, July 20. For more information about the tour, prizes, registration, rules and participating dealers, go to CarolinasHDTour.com.
