April – time to shuck off the winter blues and welcome back warm breezes and sunshine. The weather has really started to show signs of spring, which gives all motorcycle riders encouragement for sunny days and long roads ahead. Check out Springers Bar on the cover, it’s a great place to hang out in Greensboro, NC. Read all about it on page 5, then ride out there for the real thing! The Cruisin’ Calendar is loaded with poker runs, bike blessings, benefit rides and even Easter egg hunts. Take your pick just get out there and support your favorite one or two. It’s up to you, whatever you can do, do it. An influx of events is not unusual for this time of the year, but this year it seems like everyone is more than ready to hit the road and get out and ride. Hallelujah is all I can say. The first event in April is the re-opening of Dale’s Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley on April 1st. If you haven’t been to this first class museum you owe to yourself to go there this year. Smokin’ Harley-Davidson is also having Bike Show Night, the first of several scheduled, on April 1st sponsored by Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group with cash prizes and a free keg of beer, and The Carolinas Full Throttle Magazine will be on hand to help liven up the festivities. The Outer Banks Bike Week begins on April 17th and runs through the 25th. Check out the schedule on page one listing the planned activities and merriment. The Outer Banks is a wonderful area to soak up some beautiful scenery, ride the coast roads, and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded motorcycle enthusiasts. If you haven’t already, make your reservations now and plan on having a big time in the Outer Banks. The important part is that you get out there and ride and enjoy your motorcycle and your friends. Be careful out there and always ride sober because we want to see you out there all year long. Check out all the advertisers in this month’s magazine and when you patronize them, be sure and tell them you saw their ad in the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. And hey, if you’re ambitious and want to earn a little extra $, be a Full Throttle rep in your hometown. Just give us a call, it’s not hard and we have a lot of fun. One down four or five up! Let’s Ride

April 16th, 2020 a new bar opened at 405 Rocky Knoll Road in Greensboro, NC. Jeff Schmid, the owner, went through a lot of paper and red tape to open during a pandemic, but he succeeded. Springers purple theme color and the logo spring is for Jeff’s brother Christopher Schmid who has passed. All the charity work they do for veterans is in honor of Jeff’s other brother, 36 year Retired Lt. Col. James Schmid. Jeff’s parents, James and Marlene Schmid, get credit for influencing his drive for fundraising and giving back to community. Jeff vowed to use his venue to help out the community and has worked with Triad Honor Flight, American Legion Post 853, The Elks Lodge 602 in Greensboro, a family that lost everything in a fire, and Double D Burnout Saloon in Kernersville to help out The Toys for Tots, Jeff attributes his success to his staff. He says, “You are only as good as the people that represent you. Thanks to Crystal Purcell, Maggie Honeycutt, Courtney Johnson, Heather Moran, Joe Davis, Josh Stone, Ralph Childress and George Fenn.” This spacious biker paradise has a beautiful U shaped bar to belly up to with seating for 18 people. There are 7 pool tables with plenty of room in between tables to make your shot. There are also a few tables away from the bar with additional seating for 50 people with a great view of the live music stage. If the live music gets you tappin’ your toes you might want to cut a rug on the 18 x 24 dance floor! There is even a side room to throw cornhole in side! Springers Bar has tables outside as well, with seating for around 24 folks. With the summer warmth coming up you can always chill on the front porch and watch the bikes roll in. They have tested the limit of the semi-private parking lot and know they can park at least 150 motorcycles out front! Springers Bar is open 7 days a week! Monday through Thursday from 2pm-Midnight (minimum) with Bike Night on Tuesday, Karaoke on Wednesday, and Cornhole on Thursday. Friday and Saturday Noon-2am with live music. Sunday is for riding! The bar is open noon-midnightw (minimum), with a ride in the afternoon that returns to Springers

for food and live music! Jeff Schmid has put a lot of effort in making Springers a place to just pop in and have a drink or come by and hang out. There is never a lack of interesting people and conversation. So, pop in anytime, and enjoy what Jeff likes to call “Recess With Alcohol”! With Myrtle Beach Bike Rally coming May 7th-16th, Jeff said anyone wearing a Springers shirt at Pilot House in Little River on Friday, May 14th from 4-6pm is on his tab! Keep your eyes on the Springers’ ad in Full Throttle Magazine, the Cruisin’ Calendar and Springers FB page for upcoming events.

10th Annual Bikers In Boxers

By: Pam Irvin Photos: Louetta Constante Saturday, March 6th, was the 10th Annual Bikers in Boxers Winter Charity Ride hosted by the Waynesville VFW Post 5202 Riders. The temperature was about 40 degrees when registration started but had reached almost 50 by the KSU time at noon. It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine. The slogan for the ride is “We freeze so they don’t have to”. Fortunately, this year, there was plenty of sunshine, so we didn’t freeze, either. The group raises funds every year to donate to the Haywood County Mountain Projects “Share the Warmth Program”. The program assists elderly in Haywood County with heating needs that they can’t afford without assistance. Rules for the event consisted of all riders were to wear nothing but boxers, boots, vest, and gloves. Ladies were allowed to wear tank tops. Any extra clothing, the rider had to pay $1.00 per item. When addressing the crowd, the interim Financial Officer for the group, Rhonda Coleen Kitchens, AKA Morning Star, said that the whole thing started on a dare ten years ago. The former Iron Cavalry Motorcycle Club dared each other to strip down to their underwear and ride around town to see if the police would get them. They called this the “Blue Balls Run”. This developed into a great fundraiser that is now “Bikers in Boxers”. In previous years, the ride was hosted by the ICMC for three years, The Avengers for one year, the American Legion Post for four years and now the VFW Post 5202 the past two years. “The ride belongs to the ride, not any group” Kitchens said. There was a crockpot cook off hosted by the group. Riders were able to fill their plates and bowls with the best of the best after the ride. The VFW was open as well with a full bar for those who wished to get warm from the inside. The winner of the cook off was Ms. Lois Lane with her Chicken and Dressing. Some of the groups represented were Blazing Skeleton Riding Club, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, VFW Riders, Horny Old Goats MC and several others. There was a total of 46 riders that participated in the event, 31 bikes,

Grand Marshall, The Hula Guy, Mike Mcgrath

14 passengers and the Grand Marshall, the Hula Guy, Mike McGrath, led the group with his four wheeler. The event has raised over $5400 so far this year. This is my second year attending the event and it will definitely be one that I put on my calendar every year that they have it. If you are remotely close to Waynesville, NC, I suggest you do the same in the future. Great fun is to be had for an amazing cause.

11th Annual CBA/ABATE Chili Cook-Off By: Wally Wersching he Concerned Bikers Association/ABATE of Cleveland County held their 11th Annual Chili Cook-Off at the on March 13th, 2021 at Western Dynasty on Main Street in Boiling Springs, NC. The Cleveland County CBA/ABATE is keeping the biker community informed. Haley (the president) is working very hard, and it shows in the organization and enthusiasm. The cook-off started at about noon. I arrived at the Western Dynasty parking lot at about 3:30PM. While parking “Miss Vickie”, a little boy walked up holding a small dog. He said that “Miss Vickie” was the “most beautiful motorcycle he ever saw”. I told him it was a Victory – not a Harley. The parking lot was large, and the contestants were spread out around the edge. I couldn’t smell the chili cooking, but I could see the steam rising from their pots when they lifted the lids to stir their special concoction. This year’s competition was again in memory of Amy “Shortie” Norris who was the chili champ in 2012 and 2013. Everybody had a pot of chili cooking near their table. They had Winners Marcia Queen & Anna Hunt been cooking their chili since noon. The judging would take chair relaxing after working hard to set up the tent earlier in place at 5:00PM; afterwards the chili would be available for sale. the day. I placed copies of the Carolinas Full Throttle Magazine on the I walked over to the Royal Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry main CBA table. Then I talked with Haley. She was sitting in a tent to talk with “Superman”. We used to work together a lifetime ago. The plant is now scheduled to shut down in July. I wanted to see how he was holding up. It happened to me once, and it wasn’t a very good feeling knowing that your job was going to end soon. He plans on staying to the end to get the bonus. Then he’ll look for a new job. The three judges had a very hard time determining a winner. The judges determined that there was a tie for 1st place between Royal Priesthood Biker Church Marcia Queen and Anna Hunt. They will get their name engraved on the plaque with all the past winners. The cook-off was another success, and I’ll definitely go back again next year. I will also keep an eye out for future CBA/ABATE events so I can continue to enjoy the company of my friends. Check their Facebook page for more info. 20 Years In Business By Appointment Only

Brad’s Run 2021

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine

By: Len “3 wheel” Montgomery ere you to ask around your community about

any local club to see what kind of people make up their membership, you would certainly get varying opinions. Some good, some bad. Many ill-informed. But if you REALLY want to know about a club, watch how they remember their fallen brothers and how they help those who aren’t in a position to help themselves. This is one of those stories. Brad’s Run began as a memorial ride to honor and remember Brad Pelletier who was a member of Evilution MC, Raleigh. Brad lost his life in 2013 when his bike was struck by a car driven by an intoxicated woman who was on her phone (please put those phones away and watch where you’re driving). Honoring their fallen brother, Evilution has remained

dedicated to Brad’s Run and fostered its evolution over the years. A few years after the first memorial run, Evilution member Jersey Bill Chappelle lost his brother Tom Chappelle to brain cancer. As Tom had undergone treatment at Duke, it was decided that Brad’s Run would become a fund raiser to help fight brain cancer. The run takes place each year on the first Saturday of March. As in years past, the run begins at Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson of Raleigh, NC. Registration began at 11 am, but there were many folks out and about much earlier in preparation. It was a very nice day for a ride. It was $10 per person to register. You could get in on the 50/50 raffle. $20 would get you a string of tickets that wrapped completely around the 2002 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 that was on display at the registration booth. The Sportster will be given away October 2, 2021 at Evilution’s 10th Anniversary Party. Tickets on the Sportster are $20 each. Just see a member any time between now and October. By the time the pre-ride meeting was called there were roughly fifty bikes gathered. Shortly thereafter riders mounted up for a relaxing ride which made its way from Raleigh to Angier and then back to Evilution’s clubhouse. Riders pulled in and were greeted by the smell of BBQ pork chops. Russell Byrd was the cook for the day, and I can tell you, his sauce is pretty tasty. As were the pork chops, fixin’s and desserts. The club’s new mascot, Charlie, had everyone stopping by the t-shirt table (Charlie is a miniature black goat). Plenty of refreshments were available. And people were registering for Chicken Shit Bingo. If you haven’t heard of Chicken Shit Bingo, it’s pretty much what it sounds like. You buy a square on the card which is lining the bottom of the cage. Add the

chicken, some feed, and eventually that chicken is going to shit in a square. If you own the square, you win! At the end of the day, the event raised $1,732 which went to Angels Among Us. Angels Among Us, a celebration of life, strength, courage and commitment. Donations are used for brain tumor research and education and may be endowed to provide ongoing support of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, per their website. Thank you to Evilution for allowing me to participate in the day. And for indulging my many questions so that I could accurately relay the history of the event to the readers. This is a great group of bikers doing biker shit. You know, like showing love to those who need it most.

Fundraiser To Benefit Officer Sean Houle

Motorvader Rocking The Outside Stage

The Double D Crew (L-R) Kandi, David, Missi and Nikki

Doubble D’s Backyard

By: Lloyd & Rose n February 21st, Officer Sean Houle was shot while on duty for Kernersville Police Department. He has been in the hospital for several weeks. The community has reached out to help the family. On March 14th, David and Missi Thompson of Double D Burnout Saloon used their Sunday Funday to have a benefit for Officer Houle, with lots of help from Nikki and Kandi, and a lot of people in the background. We raised $3200 for officer Houle. In this day and time, when our country is in turmoil, It was amazing to see the out pouring of open hearts willing to help this family. The support from community and the biker family packed Double D. The yard was full with people coming out to support this family. Houle’s family released a statement Tuesday morning: “The family would like to personally thank

Kernersville PD, NC Highway Patrol, Stokes County Sheriff’s Department and the brothers in blue here and abroad for all of the infinite support shown to the entire family. To the first responders who so swiftly cared for Sean and the wake forest Baptist trauma team, we couldn’t be more grateful. Also, thanks to the local churches, friends and the entire community. Prayers have been answered and God is certainly in this and we have faith knowing He is the ultimate healer.” It takes a lot of work and a small army to put on these events, but you can always count on the Biker Family to help. WXII 12 news reported that Houle was released from the hospital on March 16th. It was also reported that there was a huge support parade down Highway 66. Kernersville officers said Houle is walking, waving and progressing well. He is at home resting. Ours hearts go out to the Houle family, in this time of great stress and need.

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Carolina Pregnancy Center Diaper Run

By: Wally Wersching he Carolina Pregnancy Center (CPC) is located in Spartanburg, SC. The CPC is a non-profit organization, funded by donations from the local community, that provides compassion, information, and support to anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy. At CPC, they care about the future moms and dads, and do not want them to make this very important decision alone. They will answer all questions and be there for support no matter what the parents choose to do. They have an ultrasound on site. A personal client advocate will discuss the results of the ultrasound and pregnancy with the parents and review the options. They also provide Earn While You Learn (EWYL) classes. EWYL is an educational program that teaches the basic fundamentals of parenting. By attending classes, future moms can earn “Mommy Money” to buy supplies from the CPC store. Future dads are not forgotten, they have a program specifically designed for prospective fathers. If they have chosen to father their child or are unsure, one of the fatherhood coaches will help. There are a lot of questions, and since babies don’t come with instructions, the CPC program will help him be the best father he can be. For more info, go to https://carolinapregnancy.org. The Diaper Run was sponsored by the Christian Motorcyclists Association – Spartanburg Chapter – the “Jabez Riders”. They saw how beneficial the Gaffney CMA Chapter – “Warriors for Christ” diaper runs were for the Gaffney Pregnancy Center that they decided to start doing it in Spartanburg. On March 6th, the group was to meet at the Peach Blossom Diner in Spartanburg. I had been there many times for other biker meetings, and classic car cruise-ins. I left home about 9:00am heading south to I-85. At the split, I veered right to I-85 Business. After a few miles, I exited to Rte. 9. After passing under Rte. 9, the Peach Blossom Diner was on the right. As I parked, I saw that there were already a few bikes parked along the edge of the lot, but no bikers were around. I thought that they must be inside eating breakfast. They do serve a great breakfast at the Diner. Soon, more bikers rode in - and then even more. By the time everybody was done greeting each other, there were about thirty people going on the run. It was a very pleasant gather-

ing. Everybody knew each other. Many members of the Gaffney CMA chapter were there supporting their sister chapter. While we were waiting for everybody to get there, a group of CMA members were blessing some of the bikes. It’s always good to have God watching over you while you are riding. At about 10:15, they gathered in a circle to pray, and provide directions to the CPC which was only about five minutes away. At 10:30 we all pulled out of the lot onto Rte. 9 heading south. After about a mile, we turned right onto California Avenue. After crossing I-585, we turned left at the first road (Metro Road). The CPC was on the corner on the left. After we all parked, the director of the CPC came out to greet us. He thanked us many times for donating to his center. Then he led us into the building to place the diapers and such in a hallway. After we placed all the baby stuff in the building, we all posed for a group picture. After the picture, the group broke up into smaller groups to head out for a ride – some to get lunch, and others just out for the ride. It had warmed up. With sunny skies and temps in the mid 50’s, it was a great afternoon for a ride. I headed home and was home about noon. Cindy and I went out for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant – MiPueblito’s in Shelby. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning, meeting friends and giving to people in need – especially babies!

The South Carolina Biker Hall Of Fame Induction Party 2021 By: Lincoln Infield here are exemplary people in all arenas of life and

sacred halls in which these people are enshrined. Cleveland has the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, Canton has Pro Football Hall Of Fame, Cooperstown hosts the Baseball Hall Of Fame, but Murrells Inlet is the home of the SC Bikers Hall Of Fame. Designated for bikers who have made an impact on the people and communities of the great state of South Carolina, the SC Bikers Hall Of Fame is housed in none other than Suck Bang Blow, the most famous biker bar in the world. It was probably a week before the induction when Wahl E. Walker called us up at Carolinas’ Full Throttle HQ to make sure we were coming down to take in the festivities. Well let’s see: a Saturday Night at SBB, SC Biker Hall Of Fame and a personal invitation from the oldest living Wall of Death rider. How do you turn that down? Did I mention, SBB was serving steak dinner? Yeah…the deal is sealed. It was a beautiful day to ride to Myrtle Beach, but since I was bringing down 30+ more bundles of magazines to restock, I was on four wheels, cussin’ all the lucky assholes that got to ride that day. but like I said, it was a beautiful day. Dinner was at 6, or so I thought, I showed up and looking for a table when I got stopped by the Legendary Brother Speed, who was not only part of the HOF class of 2014 but has been riding hard

The Winchesters

since time began and has all the stories that go along with that achievement. Next thing ya know, I was shaking hands with Wahl E. Walker and talking about his time riding the Wall. Wahl E. has been thrilling crowds and keeping this historical piece of motorcycle folk lore alive since 1985. Hell of a good guy, Wahl E. even invited me to party and camp in the Wall Of Death if I ever needed a place to crash at a rally. Cuss yeah! They say things happen in threes, so when I turned around, I ran into Judy Ellis of In The Wind Bar (Huntersville, NC) who was down there with a friend and her other half Bert Patterson of In the Wind Too ( Garden City, SC ). It’s always good to catch up with friends and see some familiar faces! It wasn’t long before SC Biker HOF founder and SBB events coordinator, Bill Barber took the stage to introduce the event, get the band and the night started. By now, the bar area was full of folks, the waitresses were taking dinner orders and the ever-present clanking of empty beer bottles was only topped by the band cranking up. Joe Santana’s Kingfish usually play the induction ceremony party, but due to some scheduling difficulties they were unavailable, and the Winchesters took up the cause and put on a hell of a quality show. The bar area was dressed up for the occasion and tables were reserved for the 2021 inductees and other biker community dignitaries. As before mentioned, SBB had steak dinner on the menu that night with local shrimp, salads and other tasty options. The Winchesters serenaded the diners with some good old outlaw country. When the first set was over, Bill took the stage again to induct the first two members of the 2021 HOF Class. First up was Bill Fuller, a legislative warrior who has fought for the rights of South Carolina bikers in the Continued On Page 28

Father and Son, Bill & Chad Fuller ranks of ABATE of SC. Bill’s introduction speech was given by his son, Chad Fuller a class of 2019 HOF Inductee, making this pair the only Father and Son inducted into the SC Biker HOF, as of yet. Next to receive the honor was the Rev. Cotton Pate for his extensive work in the community. The Reverend made a short acceptance speech, and the stage was handed back over to the Winchesters for a quick set between inductees. I took this chance to stroll around outside SBB and check out the line of rad choppers that had pulled up. There were a couple real sweet old school Shovel choppers hang out but what do you expect at SBB? The Winchesters laid down the last few notes of a Merle Haggard song and then conceded the stage to Bill who continued the HOF inductions. Next on the list was Maiko Saravia who started his career by opening his own motorcycle performance and repair shop on the left coast before set-

tling in Surfside Beach, SC and later opening Myrtle Beach Performance. The list of accolades and achievements for Maiko in motorcycle service, drag racing and performance upgrades was quite Impressive. The final inductee of the night was Wahl E. Walker who as I mentioned earlier is a Wall of Death performer keeping that motorcycle tradition alive and amazing spectators since 1985. Wahl E. finished his acceptance speech by saying “Never give up and never give in. To conquer without struggle is to Triumph without glory. If you have a passion in life, and I’m talking to all those who ride a motorcycle, don’t give it up. There is always something next to happen.” It was a great cap to the ceremony. The Winchesters came back for their final set and the celebratory drinks were downed. It was a great night at Suck Bang Blow. Congrats to the class of 2021 and I am looking forward to next year’s event!

Triad Honor Flight Charity Ride By: Rose and Lloyd he National World War II Memorial opened in 2004. Retired Air Force Captain, Earl Moore , a Physician Assistant at that time, noticed that a lot of WWII Veterans were talking about the wall. He realized with their age, health and financial situations may never see it. In 2005 Captain Moore flew veterans in his own plane to see the Memorial in Washington, DC. This is when The Triad Honor Flight began taking Veterans to Washington, DC to see the Memorial. Over the years, donations have made this popular. Saturday March 13th Springers and Double D Burnout Saloon formed a charity ride to support the Triad Honor Flight. Registration was at Double D at 11:30. There were so many military vets from all branches, and several organizations there to honor our vets. Ralph Childress and his group, American Military Families, was there to help coordinate the ride. The bikers were ready to hit the road, but first there was a prayer, and Lynne Bolt sang a beautiful rendition of our National Anthem. The ride was on and we stopped at The Elks Lodge #602 in Greensboro. Then back to Springers for food, entertainment was provided by “DAM-FI-NO Band”. There was a raffle, and auction. As always it takes an army to put all this together. Many thanks to David and Missi Thompson, Nickki and Kadi of DD Burnout Saloon, Jeff Schmid and all the bartenders at Springers, Eddie Bullins for cooking, Greensboro Elks Lodge, and all others behind the scenes. This flight means so much to our Veterans, so again a huge thank you to all the bikers that participated to make this another successful event.

The Meaning Of Easter Easter is all about getting a new outfit and going to church for first time this year. Some believe going on Easter egg hunts, to see if their kids get the most eggs or candy. Store shelves are crammed with rows of Easter baskets, egg coloring kits, jelly beans and chocolate bunnies. But the real meaning of Easter goes way beyond such colorful, tasty fun. People often get confused over the real meaning of Easter. It’s about someone who died, and then found new life. Jesus Christ is the most central figure in all of human history, and Easter is all about His death and resurrection. Here is what the Bible says about who He is, what He went through on our behalf, and why. The Pain: The soldiers took charge of Jesus, carrying his own cross, he went out to The Place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). Here they crucified him, and with two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. The Payment: The people stood watching, and the ruler even sneered at him. They said, He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chose One.” One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at Him: “Aren’t ome people think

you the Christ? Save yourself and us.“ But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he asked, “since you are under the sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani” which means, My God, My God why have you forsaken me? And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice. he gave up his spirit. At that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” The Proof: Now there a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, who had not consented to their decision and action. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. Continued On Page 42

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Continued From Page 40 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb. And found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him. ”At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!”(which means “Teacher”). Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her. On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. “And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” The Promise: One of those who saw the resurrected Christ, the Apostle Peter, says concerning him, “We are witnesses of everything he did— He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is One whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.” And Jesus Christ who died and rose again for us promised, “My Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day”. Just remember rabbits die, eggs rot, but Jesus Christ lives forever.

In His Wind, Ms. Pat

Bikes And BBQ At Riding High Harley-Davidson

By: Lincoln Infield

High Harley-Davidson has launched a series of Saturday rides that leave out of the dealership at 3036 NC-68 in High Point, NC. The rides are led by off duty LEO’s to a different destination every week and couple that with warm spring weekends, have attracted a crowd. I was able to catch up with the March 6th BBQ & Bikes event, be-cause, well, I like BBQ and riding motorcycles. The ride registration was 11:30am and kickstands went up at noon. That was another great feature of the ride, nobody wants to get up early on Saturday to make a 9am reg-istration. That made for a relaxing one hour ride up through Guilford Co. There were no stops along the way, just cruising through the county knowing that there was gonna be a plate of BBQ waiting for you back at Riding High Harley-Davidson. Just like that when we got back to Riding High, there was a table set up in the lounge with trays of hot chopped BBQ, slaw, chips and drinks. The BBQ was fantastic and really hit the spot. Riding High Harley-Davidson was offering Free Bike Safety Checks and pulling raffle tickets for gift cards to use in store. It was a beautiful day and Riding High was packed all afternoon. Now, as I mentioned before, Riding High is having weekly rides that leave out of the dealership. They are free rides with different destinations every week. If you are look-ing for a great afternoon ride and some camaraderie, check ‘em out! Make sure to tell em The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine sent ya. iding

Dice Run For Jason Houser By: Wally Wersching

was looking for some-

thing to do on February 20th. There are not many motorcycle events going on during the cold winter months, especially during this pandemic. I had to check through many Facebook pages to find this one. I have over 30 Facebook pages of all the local clubs as Favorites on my computer. I check them every week to see what’s going on. I also check the local magazines, and websites that have upcoming events. I found this one on the Ironhorse Rebels Facebook page. I had been to two other Ironhorse Rebels events in the past. The first was to help BJ Truesdale fight stomach cancer, and the other was to help Connie Carter fight ovarian cancer. The first one was in January last year. It was cold and sleeting while they were on the run. Connie’s was in the heat of summer with showers on the way home. Both showed me that they were a dedicated group – dedicated to helping others in need. On February 20th, the Ironhorse Rebels were hosting a dice run for Jason Houser. Jason was severely injured at work when he was working on a large CNC machine when someone turned it on. His leg was sucked into the machine. He received broken ribs, a broken pelvis, and his leg was broken in many places. He is still in the hospital and will be out of work for a long time before he is rehabilitated again. He probably will never be the same again. The Dice Run will help with all the expenses related to his recovery. The registration started at 10:30am at Leo’s Food and Fun in Lincolnton with Kickstands up at 11:45am. Registration fee was only $15.00 for single riders, and $25.00 with a passenger. The additional stops were Johnny’s Mexican American Bar and Grill in Lincolnton, Smokin’ Aces Bar and Grill in Cherryville, with the final stop being the Ironhorse Rebels’ clubhouse in Vale where there would be a party announcing the winners, including the 50/50 drawing. There will be BBQ and Jerk Chicken available while listening to music from the band “Rooster”. I arrived at Leo’s Food and Fun at about 10:20am. I walked into the building to see that there were many pool tables with a bar in the back. The registration table was set up on the back wall under the Leo’s sign. I placed a stack of the Carolinas’ Full Throttle magazines on the table and gave the ladies a donation for Jason. That’s when they told me the details of his accident, and condition. I walked outside to watch as more bikers rolled in. At first, there were only Ironhorse Rebels club members, but later,

there were other bikers including a group from the “Knights” in Kings Mountain. Some of the Ironhorse Rebels remembered me from the two events last year. We all laughed about the two extreme temperatures of them. One was bitterly cold, and the other so stifling hot. We were all glad that the temperature was going to warm up into the 50’s later in the day. I started talking with “Mstrsgt Dick”; one of the club members. I learned that he was an Air Force veteran, and originally from Rockford Illinois. That was a coincidence because I originally came from Chicago only an hour’s drive from Rockford. We had a very pleasant conversation about life growing up in the Midwest. Later another Air Force veteran rode in. We talked for a while. He was a little unsure of the ride. It was his first experience with the Ironhorse Rebels. We talked about his Harley Softail, and all the modifications he wanted to do to it. There were a lot of friendly greetings as more and more riders came. Everybody went inside to register, and then waited for the group to leave at 11:45. At 11:45, “Mstrsgt Dick” lined them up, and they started to ride out of the parking lot toward Johnny’s. I took a few pictures as they roared past. I was glad that I had come. I really enjoy seeing bikers doing things to help people. Most don’t even know Jason. They just heard that he was in need and came to help; and have fun along the way.

Gaston County Toy Run For Kids Breakfast Fundraiser

By: Wally Wersching n Saturday March 13th, the Gaston County CBA held a breakfast fundraiser to support the Toy Run for Kids. The toy run is one of the biggest in the area every December. This year will be on December 4th. They have an all-you-can-eat breakfast of eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, grits, fried bologna, liver mush, and toast, along with tea or juice to wash it down. Again, this year the Gastonia Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram dealership at 2339 Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia opened its doors for the fundraiser. I awoke, and when I walked the dog, I noticed that it was overcast and cool with temps in the lower 50’s. I checked the weather, and there was no heavy rain in the forecast, just occasional scattered light showers. I left home about 8am heading east on Rte. 74. Traffic was light when I merged onto I-85. I exited onto New Hope Road, turned right, and then left onto Franklin Boulevard. The dealership was on the right just a short distance down the road. I parked near the main building. I walked toward the smell of cooking bacon, eggs, hash browns, liver much, and sausage. The aroma was intoxicating. I placed a stack of the Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazines on the table near the door. I walked inside the showroom to pay the $6 for breakfast. They were also selling raffle tickets on a 1994 Harley Springer Softail. There were many young ladies loading plates full of the eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast, and grits. I only took eggs, a few slices of bacon, and a piece of toast. I didn’t want to eat

too much. I don’t eat as much as I used to when I was younger. I stopped for a glass of orange juice at the end of the line. The next thing I had to do was find a place to sit. The tables were almost completely full. I found a place across from a very friendly Air Force vet named “Freon”. We had a very pleasant conversation while we ate. He was really hungry, and asked the young lady who came around collecting empty plates for seconds. She came back with another full plate for him. I walked around outside to watch the cooks. I saw “Dodge” helping the cook get the bacon out of the box, and place it on the griddle. We had a pleasant talk about bikes in general. His is in pieces waiting for parts so he can get it on the road again. As we watched, the cooks were all doing their best to prepare the food, and keep the line inside fully stocked. More bikers were rolling in. I saw “Cuzz” and his wife. We talked for a while before he went into eat breakfast. It’s always a pleasure to visit with him. Everyone was there for one reason besides getting a delicious breakfast – to raise money for the Toy Run so that the children of Gaston County will have a toy for Christmas. The food is good, and so are all the people – it is a win-win situation.

Harley-Davidson Revolution Max 1250 Engine Is Tuned For Adventure

The Harley-Davidson® Pan America™ 1250 and Pan America™ 1250 Special models are powered by the all-new Revolution® Max 1250 engine, a liquid-cooled V-Twin designed to offer flexible, engaging performance with a broad powerband that builds to a rush of high-RPM power surging through the redline. The Revolution Max 1250 engine has been tuned specifically to deliver desirable power characteristics for the Pan America 1250 and Pan America 1250 Special models, with an emphasis on smooth low-end torque delivery and low-speed throttle control applicable to off-road riding. “Through its history Harley-Davidson has embraced technological evolution while respecting the heritage of our brand, with engines that produce real-world performance for real-life riders,” said Harley-Davidson Chief Engineer Alex Bozmoski. “The Revolution Max 1250 is a cleansheet, advanced-design effort that will carry Pan America riders over new horizons with reliability, efficiency, and exciting performance.” A focus on performance and weight reduction drove both vehicle and engine architecture, material choices, and aggressive component design optimization. To minimize overall motorcycle weight the engine is integrated into the vehicle as the central member of the chassis. The use of lightweight materials helps achieve a desirable power-to-weight ratio. The Revolution Max 1250 engine is assembled at the HarleyDavidson Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Optimized Design for Light Weight Reducing the weight of the powertrain contributes to lower motorcycle weight – reducing weight can enhance every aspect of motorcycle performance: efficiency, acceleration, handling and braking. o The use of finite element analysis (FEA) and advanced design optimization techniques in the engine design stage minimized material mass in cast and molded components. For example, as the design progressed, material was removed from the starter gear and camshaft drive gears in an effort to lighten these components. o Single-piece aluminum cylinders with nickel silicon carbide-surface galvanic coating are a lightweight design feature. o Rocker covers, camshaft covers and primary cover are lightweight magnesium.

Stressed Member Powertrain The Revolution Max 1250 powertrain is a structural component of the motorcycle chassis. o The engine serves two functions – providing power and acting as a structural element of the chassis. o Eliminating a traditional frame significantly reduces motorcycle weight and results in a very stiff chassis. o A front frame element, mid frame element and the tail section bolt directly to the powertrain. o The powertrain is designed to be both strong and very rigid so that it can effectively function as a chassis component.

Revolution® Max 1250 Engine Displacement: 1250cc Bore x Stroke: 4.13 in. (105 mm) x 2.83 in (72 mm) Horsepower: 150hp Peak Torque: 94 ft. lbs. Peak RPM: 9500 Compression Ratio: 13:1 Revolution® Max 1250 Engine Technical Features •

V-Twin Architecture o A V-Twin design provides a narrow powertrain profile that centralizes mass to enhance balance and handling, and also provides ample foot/leg room for the rider. o A 60-degree V angle of the cylinders keeps the engine compact while providing space between the cylinders for dual down-draft throttle bodies that maximize air flow and increase performance.

o The rider realizes optimized performance due to a significant weight savings, a rigid chassis and mass centralization. •

Liquid Cooling Heat is an enemy of both durability and rider comfort. Liquid cooling the engine maintains a stable and controllable engine and oil temperature for consistent performance in changing environmental and riding situations. o Powertrain performance is enhanced by tight component tolerances that can be achieved when engine temperature is controlled (there is less expansion and contraction of metal parts). o Desirable engine sounds – a stirring exhaust tone – can predominate because noise from internal engine sources is reduced by liquid cooling. o The engine oil is also liquid cooled, which ensures that engine oil performance and durability will be maintained in challenging conditions. o The cooling system is designed to be esthetically pleasing, easy to service and rugged. o The coolant pump is internal and features high-performance bearings and seals for extended service life. o Coolant passages are integrated into a complex stator cover casting to save weight and reduce powertrain width. o A coolant drain plug is recessed and guarded by a foot peg to limit vulnerability to damage in off-road riding situations.

Offset Connecting Rod Journals The two crankshaft connecting rod journals are offset by 30 degrees. Harley-Davidson leveraged its extensive experience in flat track racing to help inform the cadence of Revolution® Max 1250 engine power pulses. o The 30-degree offset creates a 90-degree firing order that produces a smooth power delivery, especially at higher RPM. o The cylinders are offset slightly to accommodate the crankshaft design, with the rear cylinder positioned to the rider’s left on the crankcase, a choice made to enhance ergonomics. o The rider may gain control and confidence because the power pulses of a 90-degree firing order may improve traction in some off-road riding situations. o The 90-degree firing order produces a stirring exhaust beat.

Forged Aluminum Pistons o Piston crowns are machined for precise control of compression ratio. The 13:1 compression ratio improves engine torque at all speeds. This high compression ratio is made possible by advanced knock detection sensors. The engine will require premium-grade (91 octane) fuel to make max-

imum power but will run on lower-octane fuel and is protected from detonation by the knock sensor technology. The base of the piston is chamfered so no piston ring compression tool is required for installation. The piston skirt has a low-friction coating. Low-tension piston rings reduce friction, which improves performance. The top ring land is anodized to enhance durability. Oil cooling jets are aimed at the bottom of the pistons to help dissipate combustion heat.

Four-Valve Cylinder Heads o Four-valve cylinder heads (two intake and two exhaust) permit the largest-possible valve area. o The rider realizes an optimal performance profile for adventure touring – strong bottom-end torque with a smooth transition to peak power – because the flow of gasses through the combustion chamber is optimized to match the desired performance requirement and engine displacement. o The exhaust valves are sodium-filled to better dissipate heat. o Suspended oil passages within the heads are made possible by a complex casting technique and reduce weight because the head wall thickness is minimized. o The cylinder heads are cast from high-strength 354 aluminum alloy. Because the heads act as a chassis mounting point, they are designed to be flexible at that mounting point but rigid over the combustion chamber. This is accomplished in part through targeted heat treating.

Double Overhead Camshafts (DOHC) The Revolution Max 1250 engine is equipped with separate intake and exhaust camshafts for each cylinder. o The DOHC design facilitates higher-RPM operation by reducing valve train inertia, which produces Continued On Page 54

higher peak horsepower. o The DOHC design permits independent Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on the intake and exhaust cam, optimized for the front and rear cylinder, to broaden the powerband. o Specific cam profiles are selected to produce the most-desirable performance characteristics. o The drive-side camshaft bearing journal is part of the drive sprocket, a design that makes it possible to remove the camshaft for service or a future performance upgrade without disassembling the camshaft drive. o The camshaft drive chain guides and sprockets have been optimized to reduce as much mass as possible. The chain tensioner is internally mounted and incorporates design features to minimize start-up clatter. •

Hydraulic Lash Adjusters o The Revolution® Max 1250 engine features rollerfinger valve actuation with hydraulic lash adjusters. o This design ensures that the valves and valve actuators (“fingers”) are in constant contact as engine heat changes. o The hydraulic lash adjusters make the valve train maintenance-free, saving the owner time and cost – there is no mechanical adjuster. o This design realizes a reduction in undesirable valve train noise, especially on cold starts. o This design maintains consistent pressure on the valve stem, which facilitates more-aggressive camshaft profiles which can boost performance. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) The Revolution Max 1250 engine is equipped with computer-controlled Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. o Through computer control, VVT advances or retards exhaust and intake camshaft timing independently through a potential range of 40 degrees of crankshaft rotation. o VVT broadens the overall powerband and improves torque management and efficiency compared to the same engine with fixed valve timing. This allows the same engine to provide both low-end grunt for acceleration off the line as well as the thrill of high-RPM horsepower. o VVT may improve fuel efficiency and increase range from each tank of fuel. o The timing phaser is located between the cam drive sprocket and the camshaft and uses a solenoid plunger to control ported hydraulics that change the cam timing. o When the engine is shut down, VVT sets intake cams to full retard and exhaust cams to full advance to reduce compression for easier starting. o Camshaft position pick-ups are located in the valve covers.

Dual Spark Plugs The Revolution Max 1250 engine is equipped with two spark plugs per cylinder. o Dual spark plugs improves ignition of the fuel charge across this wide-bore cylinder. o The Revolution® Max 1250 engine is equipped with “dual side strap” spark plugs that are designed to better manage high temperatures in the combustion chambers than a standard spark plug.

Dual Down-Draft Throttle Bodies Separate throttle bodies are located between the cylinders, positioned to create minimal turbulence and impedance to air flow. o High-velocity air flow into the combustion chamber is optimized for improved performance. o Fuel delivery can be optimized individually for each cylinder, which can improve economy and range. o The central location of the throttle bodies permits the ideal position of an 11-liter airbox over the engine. Airbox capacity is optimized for engine performance. o The airbox is shaped to permit use of tuned velocity stacks over each throttle body that utilize inertia to pack more air mass into the combustion chamber, which can increase power output. o The airbox is formed of glass-filled nylon with integrated internal ribs that help quell resonance and muffle intake noise. A forward-facing intake snorkel directs intake noise away from the rider. Silencing intake noise permits desirable exhaust tone to predominate. o The circular base of the washable conical air filter provides an optimal seal to the airbox.

Robust Oiling System The engine oiling system is scaled to perform well in challenging conditions. o The engine features a dry sump oiling system, with Continued On Page 56

the oil reservoir (or sump) incorporated into the crankcase casting below all rotating parts. This increases performance by reducing the parasitic power loss that can occur when a rotating part must pass through an oil bath. Triple oil scavenge pumps evacuate excess oil from three engine cavities – crankcase, stator cavity and clutch cavity. The rider gains optimal performance as parasitic power loss is reduced because internal engine components do not have to rotate through excess oil. A windage tray prevents the clutch from aerating engine oil, which could degrade oil delivery. The oil feed pump is fitted with a large-capacity screen able to filter debris for the lifespan of the motorcycle. The oil pump is designed to pull vacuum in the crankcase, which can further reduce internal engine friction because lighter piston ring pressure is required to minimize combustion blow-by. Oil delivery to main bearings and connecting rod bearings is delivered through the center of the crankshaft, a design that enables low oil pressure (60-70 psi) that reduces parasitic power loss at high RPM.

Fully Balanced Powertrain Internal balancers cancel most engine vibration to enhance rider comfort and improve vehicle durability. o Primary balancer: This spiral-shaped, chain-driven balancer located in the crankcase manages the primary vibration created by the crank pins, pistons and connecting rods, and also a “rolling couple,” or sideto-side imbalance, caused by the off-set cylinders. o Secondary balancer: A small balancer located in the front cylinder head between the camshafts complements the primary balancer to further reduce vibration. o The balancers are tuned to retain just enough vibration to make the motorcycle feel “alive.” o Engine balancing contributes to weight reduction and motorcycle performance because engine components do not have to be designed to withstand stress inputs from vibration.

Clutch and Transmission The Revolution® Max is a unitized powertrain, meaning that the engine and six-speed transmission are housed in a common case. o The clutch is mechanically actuated with a large-diameter cable for smooth, consistent disengagement and minimal drag. o The clutch assist function offers a lighter feel at the clutch lever while maintaining the ability to transmit full torque and power to the transmission. o The clutch features eight friction plates designed to provide consistent engagement at maximum torque throughout the life of the clutch. • •

o A clutch slipper function enables the rider to downshift without over-speeding the engine or slipping or hopping the rear wheel. o To minimize NVH (noise vibration harshness) the primary gear assembly was designed to achieve the optimal balance of sound quality and performance. A customdesigned scissor gear reduces both backlash and gear meshing noise. o Compensation springs in the primary gear smooth out torque pulses from the crankshaft before they reach the transmission, providing consistent torque delivery. o The six-speed transmission shift system features roller bearings to support the shift drum and Teflon-coated shift shaft support bushings to minimize frictional losses and optimize shift quality. o Internal shift components are durable but also as light as possible to improve shift quality and acceleration by minimizing power losses during shift events. o The semi-dry transmission cavity reduces parasitic power loss and increases fuel economy for the customer because gears are not churning through oil. FOCUS Focus intends to ensure IFRD goals are maintained and do not become diluted or camouflaged. That IFRD need not be combined with other purposes – it deserves its own rightful standalone cause. The action of promoting women riders is and remains the key focus of IFRD and a most needed one. There is only one IFRD globally synchronized women’s ride day and the day merits a full spotlight to ensure the growth and development for women in motorsports and powersports. Numerous events and happenings occur around IFRD which is fantastic, but often IFRD becomes the “side-lined” feature of a multi-focused event. “Focus” is used in the 2021 theme as a bold reminder that IFRD needs to maintain its vital spotlight for women’s progress. FEMALE Female further underlines the focus in IFRD and that women are up front. This is also to inspire manufacturers, retailers, and media outlets to ensure a female presence. This can be established in their displays, brochures, product avail, and online platforms. That female, though still a minority in a male dominated activity, is not omitted but equally represented. FORWARD By: Motoress

Female Ride Day© (IFRD) is celebrated annually worldwide on the first Saturday of May. The day celebrates women motorcycle riders and is not country, group or organizationally specific. It is a globally synchronized “JUST RIDE!”© day, for women. Vicki Gray created IFRD for all women individually, in groups and collectively everywhere. Women make International Female Ride Day© their day to “JUST RIDE!”© doing what they can to promote and highlight women riders while making a positive difference for women in motorcycling and powersports everywhere. Every woman riding on IFRD is a role model for the diverse, unique and common passion women share for motorcycling and powersports. To celebrate the 15-year milestone of International female Ride Day ®(IFRD) – the worldwide women’s motorcycle ride day campaign introduces the 2021 theme #focusfemaleforward to further underline the day’s actions. The IFRD call to action of “JUST RIDE!” highlights and celebrates the many numbers of women who enjoy motorcycling, motorsports and powersports. The 2021 theme will add emphasis to the women’s ride day goals, which among many, aim to dispel preconceived stereotypes in motorcycling while encouraging others to take up the activity. nternational

#FOCUSFEMALEFORWARD #IFRD2021 Every year on the first Saturday in May International female Ride Day® is celebrated by women motorcycle riders in over 120 countries and on six continents. The theme for 2021 has been chosen based on the following:

Forward propels “focus and female” to call out the equality that IFRD strives for – forward. That the default stereotype when topics of motorcycling, motorsport or powersports arise, will not be to that of male, but of female and male. Forward also chosen as women still only represent approximately 20% of all motorcycle riders. The work of IFRD and its forward momentum must continue for the expansion of women in motorsport. Celebrate International Female Ride Day® safely and raise awareness for women motorcycle riders, women in motorsport and powersports! Share your images on your social platforms using the hashtag #focusfemaleforward and #IFRD2021 Enter your IFRD ride day capture in the IFRD photo contest *details announced shortly! Created in 2007 by Vicki Gray, a lifetime motorcycling advocate, road, and race instructor – with the purpose to profile and highlight the many diverse women enjoying the activity of motorcycling. CMA Annual Day Of Prayer By: Wally Wersching he Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) is an international Christian, interdenominational, non-profit organization established in 1975 dedicated to reaching people for Christ on the highways. It is headquartered in Hatfield, Arkansas. Every year on the first Sunday in March, they hold a “Day of Prayer” where members all over the world take time out to gather together and pray. Groups of Christian bikers get together to pray for everything they deem needing help. Locally, the “Warriors for Christ” chapter of the CMA held their annual “Day of Prayer” on Sunday, March 7th, and met at the Cherokee County Veterans Appreciation Park in Gaffney, SC at 2:00pm. Sunday’s weather was windy with temps in the upper 50’s, and a cloudless, bright Carolina Blue sky. I dressed for the chilly temps, and rode ”Miss Vickie”. When I left home at about 1:00, I headed south on Rte.18. I followed Rte.18into Gaffney, and then went straight when Rte.18turned to the left. A couple blocks down the park was on the right. I arrived at the park about 1:30 and parked directly in front of the park so I could get a couple pictures of “Miss Vickie” with the flags blowing in the wind as the background. The pictures turned out beautiful! I was alone for a while until the rest arrived. I walked around to enjoy the moment; it is such a beautiful place. The Veteran’s Park is a sacred place where veterans are honored for their service. The park was dedicated in 2010 and has monoliths with names of veterans. There is a very moving bronze statue called the “Fallen Soldier Battle Cross”. Too many people had to die for us to enjoy our freedom, and this park remembers some of them. Carolyn and Roger drove up. I’ve known her since she was one of my students when I was a Rider Coach. She hadn’t been feeling well, so it was good to see her out and about. After a few more came, Carolyn organized a Bike Blessing for “Miss Vickie” and me. It’s always good to have God on my side. Everybody was getting acquainted. I shared some the Carolinas’ Full Throttle magazines with them. Then at about 2:00pm, “Crawdad” (the president of the chapter) invited us to

get in a circle on the Veterans Monument to pray. Everybody held hands, and each person in turn said a prayer for something special to them. Their goal is to spread the word and increase the group size every year. Next year, mark your calendars for the first Sunday in March. We’ll meet again at the memorial park about 2:00pm. I hope to see you there! As I was riding home, I had two close encounters with people pulling out in front of me. I had to brake both times. If “Miss Vickie” and I hadn’t been blessed, it might have been much closer. Go to: http://www.CMAUSA.org/ for more info about the CMA. Go to: cmaser6.org/SC/WarriorsForChrist for info about the chapter.

MRF Alerts 03/16/2021 This week the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) joined other national groups in pushing back on proposed rule changes to current ethanol labeling requirements. Representatives of manufacturers, suppliers, and consumers of boats, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, and outdoor power equipment made clear that elimination or changes to current E-15 labels at fuel pumps would cause irreparable harm to millions of consumers. In a letter to the new head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Administrator Michael Regan, the group stated that, “The misfuelling of marine engines and vessels, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, and outdoor power equipment places significant burdens on both the American consumer and product manufacturers. The risk to consumers is that they will experience product damage, compromised performance and emissions requirements, economic loss, and fuel leaks resulting in unsafe products.” As a reminder, in January the EPA proposed elimination of the current E15 label altogether or the significant changes listed below: Removing the “Attention” stripe along the upper right corner of the label. Removing the phrase “E15” from the label, while including the language “contains up to 15% percent

ethanol”. Revising the language “Use only in” to “Safe for use in”. Revising the language “Don’t use in” to “Avoid use in”. Revising the format of the word “prohibited” such that it is not in bold and italicized type. The MRF has long advocated consumer education to combat the increased prevalence of E15 nationwide. The letter to EPA points out that a recent survey shows, “Three in five consumers mistakenly assume E15 is safe for all their products.” Additionally, consumers should be aware that many manufacturer warranties are voided if improper fuel is used. The MRF thanks the diverse set of partners that have worked together on this issue. Other signatories of the letter include the American Motorcyclist Association, American Sportfishing Association, Boat Owners Association of the United States, Briggs & Stratton, Marine Retailers Association of the Americas, Motorcycle Industry Council, National Marine Manufacturers Association, Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association, Special Vehicle Institute of America and the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association. MRF President, Kirk “Hardtail” Willard said, “Whether it be the boat guys, the chainsaw guys or the flying cars guys, the MRF will work with almost anyone when our interests are aligned.” To read the full letter to EPA: mrf.org and click on Alerts

to just go ahead and pay the bill and leave, so she wrote out a check and handed it to the manager. The manager looked at the check and exclaimed, “This check is only for $50!” The woman said, “that’s correct, I charged you $200 for sleeping with me”. The manager said, “but I didn’t sleep with you”. She replied, “But I was here, and you could have.”

I lost the Bar Trivia contest by one point last night. The last question was: “Where do women have the curliest hair?” Apparently, the correct answer is ‘Fiji’! A cowboy named Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in California when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust. The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, RayBan sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, “If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?” Bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, “Sure, Why not?” The yuppie parks his car, whips out his iphone which he feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives the data through the phone. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report and turns to the cowboy and says, “You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves,” “That’s right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves,” says Bud. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on with amusement as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car. Then the Bud says to the young man, “Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?” The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, “Okay, why not?” “You’re a Congressman for the U.S. Government”, says Bud. “Wow! That’s correct,” says the yuppie, “but how did you guess that?” “No guessing required.” answered the cowboy. “You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You used millions of dollars’ worth of equipment trying to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don’t know a thing about how working people make a living - or about cows, for that matter. This is a herd of sheep. Now give me back my dog!”

A visitor from Holland was chatting with his American friend and was jokingly explaining the red, white and blue in the Netherlands flag. “Our flag symbolizes our taxes,” he said. “We get red when we talk about them, white when we get our tax bill, and blue after we pay them.” “Oh, that’s the same with us,” nodded the American, “Only we see stars, too!”

When you drink gin over ice, it can give you brain problems. Apparently, ice is really bad for you. Warn all your friends!

An elderly woman decides to treat herself to a night out at a fancy hotel for her 70th birthday. She checks in and goes up to her room, watches TV, enjoys the view from the balcony, takes a long hot bath and goes to bed. In the morning, she goes downstairs to check out the clerk gives her a bill for $250. She demands to know why the bill is so high, but the clerk cannot give her a definite answer, so she asks for the manager .The manager informs her that they have an Olympic size swimming pool. She replies to the manager that she didn’t use the pool. The manager said, “but it was here, and you could have.” He went on to explain they had a state of the art fitness center on site. She replied that she did not use the fitness center either. Trying to explain the value of the property to the woman he went on to say that they also had a theater with nationally acclaimed acts every night. She told the manager she did not use the theater, either. He replied, “It was it was here, and you could have.” At this point, the woman was totally frustrated and decided

A little boy was sitting on the sidewalk with a bottle of Turpentine. He was shaking it up and watching all the bubbles. A priest came along and asked the little boy what he had. The little boy said, “This is the most powerful liquid in the world; it’s called Turpentine.” The priest said, “No, the most powerful liquid in the world is Holy Water. If you rub it on a pregnant woman’s belly, she’ll pass a healthy baby.” The little boy replied, “If you rub turpentine on a cat’s ass, he’ll pass a Harley Davidson.”

(This is a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and Australian General Cosgrove, who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters.) FEMALE INTERVIEWER: “So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?” GENERAL COSGROVE: “We’re going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.” FEMALE INTERVIEWER: “Shooting!! That’s a bit irresponsible, isn’t it?” GENERAL COSGROVE: “I don’t see why; they’ll be properly supervised on the rifle range.” FEMALE INTERVIEWER: “Don’t you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?” GENERAL COSGROVE: “I don’t see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.” FEMALE INTERVIEWER: “But you’re equipping them to become violent killers.” GENERAL COSGROVE: “Well, Ma’am, you’re equipped to be a prostitute, but you’re not one, are you?” The broadcast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, the interview was over!
