EDITOR’S LETTER Welcome to the second issue of The Cash Collective. After a successful launch issue (and many thanks to all of our avid readers), we bring you a collective of Christmas cheer, menswear and city guides in our first ever double issue. From the hottest spots to shop as well as the top cafes, bars and places to nosh on food in Paris, to exploring Bali with Deus’ Dustin Humprey and sight seeing in London with VisitBritain’s CEO Sandie Dawe, there is a world just waiting to be explored. Whilst putting together this issue I was also lucky enough to sit down with Jeremy Hackett, founder and creator of Hackett London, during his visit to Abu Dhabi to find out how to tailor the perfect suit (p24). Also in Abu Dhabi was the opening of the new Montblanc store (p4) and to celebrate VIP guests were treated to a soirée at the Rosewood Hotel where the lovely and extremely talented Hatty Pedder sketched portraits (pictured). As well turn to page 26 to see the latest ‘it’ bags by Longchamp and Amanda Navai that The Cash Collective is coveting. So until 2014, with New Year’s resolutions in tow, have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and we’ll see you back here for our February edition.

TALKING POINT : TAILORING
Q&A
JEREMY HACKETT After a whirlwind trip including an intinary of Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Paris, the master of menswear was in the UAE to launch his new store...
What do you think of your new Abu Dhabi store? It actually feels like I’m in London at the moment. The layout and fitting is very similar to our London stores. We create a house feeling where it’s very intimate and cozy. I think it will do very well. What has been your most memorable store opening? I’m going back quite a long time but probably our shop in Sloane Street, which we opened in 1992. It really set the parametres for the brand. It was a big step for us, an expensive step, but it’s proved to be a fantastic shop. Before that we had five tiny shops in Fulham and they all sold different things but we felt we needed to get it all under one roof, so we moved to Sloane Street. Which is really where the heart of Hackett is anyway. Also just last week we opened a massive shop on Regent Street and it’s just incredible. It’s our biggest shop in the world and it’s just stunning, if I’m being modest (laughs). How do you tailor a men’s suit? Tailoring is a big part of our business. There’s nothing worse than a guy who’s got a reasonable suit on but his sleeve is down to his knuckles. It just looks awful.
You need to be showing maybe threequarters of an inch of cuff. Yet probably the most important part of the suit is the shoulder. Everything stems from the shoulder, so it needs to fit and not stand off the back, which you see so often. A jacket should fit closely to the neck and be fairly natural and fairly soft and you shouldn’t be bulging out of it. You see a lot of guys bulging out of their jackets. Which three items do you travel with? A navy blue blazer, a pair of jeans and a pair of comfortable shoes. Trying to get a pair of lace-up brogues on after travelling on a plane for 10 hours or 20 hours? For more information on Hackett visit hackett.com

LONGCHAMP
Following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Daria Werbowy and Coco Rocha comes the new face of the luxury French brand, Alexa Chung...
Longchamp handbags are hard to miss. With their distinctive colours – just as an FYI it’s all about lemon, orange, vermilion and platinum this season – to the latest styles, think the Le Pliage Cuir (pictured) and finally to the classics including the iconic foldable bag – which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2014 – Longchamp has a history of being the go-to bag for women, and some men. From 1948 Paris where the Longchamp label was founded by Jean Cassegrain (it’s still owned and run by the Cassegrain family today) to the latest collection which launches worldwide in January 2014, Longchamp will continue to be a fashion staple and a regular name in The Cash Collective wardrobe. Speaking about the Spring 2014 collction, Marie-Sabine Leclercq, Head of Global Communications at Longchamp, says, “We intend luxury to be part of the everyday life of an active, dynamic, cosmopolitan woman – a woman who loves fashion, but is not a fashion victim. Alexa Chung totally represents that vision. She is smart, sparkling, stylish – the ultimate embodiment of the movement and energy that are at the heart of Longchamp.” From St. Tropez (where the campaign with Alexa was photographed) to Dubai,

THE spa AT THE ADDRESS REVIEW
Treatment: Haven of Tranquility Cost: $163 Time: 80 mins Available at: The Address, Dubai Marina +971 4 436 7777, theaddress.com
REVIEW BY SHANNON WYLIE IMAGES SUPPLIED
When it comes to treatments they don’t come much better smelling then the Haven of Tranquility at The Spa. Using a heady (yet very welcomed) mix of the scents apricot, Shea butter and four types of tea (white, black, green and red), this scrub and massage reviltalises the body and the soul. Starting with the Gommage Thé au Népal scrub (pictured), the active anti-aging ingredients work to improve circulation, soften and hydrate skin. Then, after a quick shower to remove the scrub, comes the Singapore massage, which is a combination of Asian massage techniques. Through precise movements and power through the pressure points this massage is designed
to relieve stress and tension by relieving fatigue in the body. So it’s a great treatment to indulge in during the festive period. Aside from the flawless pamper session, The Spa at The Address also has an aftersession relaxation room where you can enjoy ginger or green tea whilst munching on dried fruit and a mashmellow. There is also a sauna and steam room which you are free to use before or after your treatment. So if you live in Dubai or are just passing through on holiday make a point to visit the 5-star spa that was awarded the ‘Best
Luxury Hotel Spa’ at the World Luxury Spa Awards in 2012.
