Logan & Sara A VERSAILLES INSPIRED WEDDING
W
hen we think of romance and love, France often enters the mind... this is how it was for Sara, a student of art history who fell in love
with Versailles and Marie Antoinette while on a trip during high school. She creatively incorporated a French theme for her wedding day - one in which both of her sisters, Anna and Alexa, were instrumental in helping plan. Sara and her sisters have a history steeped in wedding wear as they grew up surrounded by the work of the YWCA and Church Street Bridal.Â

FRENCH INSPIRED ELEMENTS Sara speaks French and has been to France several times, including studying abroad. She was determined to incorporate a French influence into her day.
•
The color palette of pink, gold and blue was inspired by the regal-ness of Versailles.
•
Marie Antoinette’s signature monogram contained an “M”, which was perfect for this wedding since the groom’s last name is Morris.
•
Pastries, macaroons and champagne are all French delights that were incorporated as favors and food elements.
•
The first Christmas that Sara and Logan were dating, Sara’s mother gave her a pink pair of shoes. They reminded Sara so much of Marie Antoinette that she saved them to wear on her wedding day... almost 5 years later!

Sara’s Advice to
UPCOMING BRIDES Do not let the stress of planning make you lose sight of why you are getting married! My husband and I would take one day a week during our engagement to go out on a date and not talk about the wedding. It was my favorite night of the week because it put back into focus that the wedding is one day but our marriage would be forever.

Danny & Lauren A UNIQUE STEAMPUNK WEDDING
M
any times a couple longs for an unforgettable wedding, and such was the case with Danny and Lauren’s day. “My husband {Danny}
actually was the one who threw the {steampunk} idea out there for fun, but I took it and ran,” offered Lauren. She perused Pinterest and Etsy for unique steampunk related ideas to incorporate into their day, including adorable (and yummy) chocolates shaped like gears. Elements and details were found, collected and also provided by their decorators to create a cohesive look for a more than memorable wedding. 13
Lauren considers photography her hobby, which is an interest that is duplicated from her grandfather, PawPaw. She sports a 1940s Graflex camera tattoo, which is the camera that her grandad once owned, and her vast camera collection was included in the wedding day.
14
Lauren’s Advice to
UPCOMING BRIDES Start planning as soon as you can because that can take a lot of the frustration off of you. That way if something falls through, then you still have time to come up with something else...just take it a step at a time, and everything will come together in the end.
We asked both the bride and groom what their favorite moment was from the wedding, and both of their responses are super sweet! Danny - When Lauren was getting out of the car to walk down the aisle, it was like a dream-like state, and I asked my best man to pinch me. Lauren - Our first dance was to Ellie Goulding’s cover “Your Song”. We had never danced in front of anyone, so I was kind of nervous. But when the time came to dance, the only person in that room was Danny.

ON TRACK 11 TIPS FOR PERSONALIZING YOUR BUDGET When envisioning your wedding day, perhaps the least romantic thing to think about is the budget. However, having a budget is an integral part of wedding planning. With much excitement, emotional spending can easily occur. So adhering to a set allocation will help to alleviate wedding overspending and can be a positive step in starting off your marriage without financial stress.
1.
Prior to considering your finances, it is important to get a realistic idea of what things cost in your area (enter your zip code into www.costofwedding.com to do a quick check). Do research by asking former brides and local wedding vendors. Make sure that you understand all the costs - including any add-ons, fees, and taxes.
2.
Consider the type of wedding you want - for example, outdoor rustic versus formal ballroom. This could impact your budget significantly.
3.
4.
What you see on the Internet does not always equal reality. As much as it is hard to accept, many of the beautiful images on the web are the best of the best - meaning that a bride needs to see if the Pinterest cake she has been eyeing is within her budget.

Dramatic Monochromatic AN AUTUMN INSPIRED EDITORIAL
Fall is a popular time to get married in Virginia - and for good reason! With lovely foliage and the crisp air, the season lends itself towards events. We drew inspiration from an invitation suite and created a scene that is perfect for fall. With a monochromatic color palette of gold, cream and black with varying hues of brown, we let textures take center stage of the set for our styled shoot. We also were determined to make the most of our editorial shoot, so we invited other photographers to utilize our set. Our main photographer - Liz Cook, of Sincerely, Liz: Photography - was available to instruct and answer questions for our guest photographers. After a fun day of shooting, we concluded with a lovely meal by candlelight in the woods. 22

MOMENTS Kareem - The one moment that was the most sentimental to me was being able to walk back down the aisle with Carren after we exchanged vows. I set my goal and I was able to achieve it.
Carren - There were two moments that meant the most to me, and those were walking back down the aisle with Kareem and our first dance. Both of these moments are sentimental to me because I think back to where Kareem started when he first got injured and the prognosis we were given. Then I look at the progress he made despite all odds; that makes those moments the most sentimental to me.

our wedding day is all your own, and it is the perfect time to celebrate family while creating personalized elements to incorporate throughout your day. A personal touch was so important to
Brittany and Tanner, and their wedding was truly full of personality!Â
44
UNIQUE ELEMENTS of Brittany’s Day •
Brittany chose the color of the dresses, but the bridesmaids were able to pick their own dresses online, which made for an eclectic, yet cohesive, array of gowns.
•
Her grandmother’s suitcase, mason jars (which were then decorated with burlap and lace!) and candlesticks were incorporated into the wedding day decor.
•
Brittany personalized thrifted frames, chalkboards and chicken wire to add personality into her day.
•
A coffee and cookie bar was set up during the cocktail hour for guests to enjoy... complete with cookies baked by the bride’s family and personalized B&T coffee sleeves! Guests were able to pack some cookies to go in cute little “Mr. & Mrs.” bags.

GRAND EXIT The day is over, and you are off on your journey in a new life together. Before you are whisked away, take time to carefully think about your exit strategy. • Consider what time of day your exit is. If it is mid-day, sparklers won’t show up very well in pictures. Consider flower petals or something quirky like LOTS of colored sprinkles. • The more guests the better! If it looks like your guests are leaving early, consider doing your exit sooner than planned. The more sparklers (36 inch are best), petals, or bubbles, the better! • Try not to run through as fast as you can. If you slow down just a bit it allows for more awesome pictures. Don’t forget to stop for a kiss!
Adam and Sarah, the duo behind Adam Mullins Photography, have three children and love being able to work full time together.

Taylor & Greta AN AUTUMN LAKESIDE WEDDING
A
utumn in Virginia offers so much beauty as the landscape changes color, and Greta took her color palette cues from the season. “We
incorporated a lot of things from the beauty and bounty of Virginia’s changing season. Our color scheme - Bordeaux, blush and gold - and many of our menu items were chosen based on their uniqueness to autumn in the Old Dominion,” she explained.

GRETA’S FAVORITE
MOMENTS Wedding - I remember it all with such good feelings, especially the toasts from my grandfather and Ben (Taylor’s best man). They were such heartfelt words of encouragement and love and a testimony to our faith in Christ.
Rehearsal Dinner - We arrived by boat, under a full moon. It was held outside under a big tent, right by the lake. Our dinner was attended by family and close friends, which made it really special. Taylor’s mother had him and his groomsmen carve “bride and groom” pumpkins to greet guests as they arrived.

HEIRLOOM TOUCHES IN THEIR DAY •
Greta’s engagement ring is vintage Art Deco. This era influenced many elements of their day including the dress, invitation suite and cake. She also wore a bracelet that her father gave her mother as a souvenir from Hong Kong.
•
They held a prayer at the end of their ceremony, which was dedicated to their grandmothers - who both passed away shortly before the wedding day.
•
Taylor and Greta obtained their marriage license at the same courthouse as Greta’s parents did 30 years prior.

Shawn & Lindsey A ROMANTIC CABIN WEDDING
S
mall, intimate weddings are meaningful for a couple as they are surrounded by family and friends. Both Shawn and Lindsey shy away from
being the center of attention, so a cabin-in-the-woods style wedding was perfect for them! “We rented a house outside of Lynchburg in Goode, where along with our parents and closest friends, we shared a relaxing, memorable weekend together, Lindsey offered, and her sentiments are echoed in her lovely wedding images.
60
Lindsey’s Advice to
UPCOMING BRIDES “Make it exactly how you envision it to be and not what anyone else expects. Stay true to yourself, and stress-free is so important.”

FAVORITE
MOMENTS Shawn - “The whole weekend is a good memory, especially Saturday... dancing to Blue Sky, enjoying everyone’s company, and the fact that we were happy and not stressed the whole time.” Lindsey - “Our friend Sarah, who wed us, made us a homemade book with homemade paper, exteriorly wrapped in flannel, and had each person present write a love letter to us on each page. “
62
PERSONAL ELEMENTS FROM THEIR DAY •
Instead of cake they had fruit pie a la mode, which was made by Shawn's dad.
•
Their post wedding meal was one of their favorites - shrimp and grits.
•
The family made all of the decorations, flowers and food.
•
"Moscow mule" was their signature drink, and it was served in copper mugs.
•
The quilt contained squares that her great-grandmother made over 70 years ago.
