Lastly, it must be said: wear a dang mask, wash your dang hands, and get the dang vaccine (when it becomes available). That is not politics, only common sense. We’ve lost staff, family and friends to Covid this year. It ain’t no joke. It is not playing around, and you will not win. Even if you do not get sick, you could give it to someone you love. Burying two of my brothers this year was some of the hardest and worst times of my life.

Due to the uptick in Coronavirus cases these past months, we have decided to go online only for a few months to protect the health of our staff and contractors. We have every intention to return to print in the spring. We are doing all we can to keep you informed by posting new information on our website and social media, but no man is an island. PLEASE help us - Like and share our Facebook page, visit us often on our website and be sure to tell your local dispensary that we are running a special on internet ads through the winter - $100 per ad per month, with a link to their website or Facebook page from TCB’s page. Things are literally changing daily on the marijuana landscape and we will all be impacted as these things happen. Let’s make Oklahoma smarter than ever about marijuana! UNTIL THEN, if you are looking for work, WE ARE HIRING.

Please, consider your loved ones and think about what you would do to keep them safe.

That’s no typo. There’s money to be made if you are willing to put out the effort. We are hiring writers, sales staff, and web developers. Positions are parttime and you will need your own transportation, but the sales income potential is limitless. Folks local to Owasso

are preferred for the web development positions, pay will accommodate education and experience, yet we are always willing to hire those looking to make a career change. Call Darrell Briggs at (918) 260-7195 if you are interested.

Wishing you and yours a safe, happy, and healthy Holiday Season and a much improved 2021. Love, Safety, Health, and a Great Buzz to you, Darrell Briggs Publisher, The Current Buzz Magazine

lessons learned from a postal fiasco by: TCB Staff

With the holidays here and the pandemic in full swing, you might be using the post office a lot more. It’s a very useful and safe service, but there are inherent dangers to what is considered by the government to be “misuse” of our national parcel system. Mailing marijuana is nothing new, people have been doing it for longer than most of us have been alive and that probably isn’t going to change any time soon. There are certain facts that everyone should be aware of before they ever consider sending (or receiving) any buds

If you’re mailing to another state, further complications may arise. Currently there are 35 states which have legalized for medical purposes, including 4 of 5 US territories and Washington DC. Fifteen of these have obtained full legalization (recreational), and there are 13 other states which have “semilegalized”, with laws that limit the THC content. Considering these wildly different policies, the things that are okay in OK may not be so elsewhere and the laws of these states can get involved. This is another thing to their buds, even if you have that we do not want, so let’s your medical card. continue to see what else might The most critical thing to know is be a problem here. that the US government hasn’t Some of you may remember legalized pot on a federal level (YET). This is important to note, the Silk Road, The online black because the US Postal Service market site that specialized in is an agency of, you guessed it, the sale of illegal drugs. After the US government. Therefore, the site was seized by the FBI using their service to transport a in 2013, the government went substance that they still consider on high alert when they found out how their own services to be illegal is unfortunately were being used to transport punishable by federal law. This substances they found to be is something that we obviously do not want, but let’s continue to illegal. Not only the US Postal Service, but also private look at another aspect of this. carriers, were offered a reward

of up to $50,000 for information leading to the conviction of any and all drug traffickers. Pretty serious stuff, right? Through the use of drug-sniffing dogs, postal inspectors seized over 34,000 pounds of marijuana in 2015 alone. So, what are the consequences to getting caught? Well, not only the sender but the receiving party are held responsible when this happens. Federal law decrees that even the most minimal offenders can get up to five years of jail time with a fine of $250,000. Things get substantially worse when you send in bulk, and there are also state laws to account for, so be very careful with this. All of this points to the notion that it isn’t in your best interests to do this (for now). Until we have legalization on a federal level, they will continue to bring down the hammer on us. Keep your MMJ card handy, but know that it isn’t always bulletproof. Maybe bringing grandma those CBD brownies in person is the safer thing to do here.

If you’ve ever accidentally gotten a big gulp of ‘water pipe’ water while taking a hit, you know how awful it can be. And if you aren’t much of a fan of the taste of the edibles out there (gotta say, some just taste like candy that’s been dropped in the dirt), then this story may not be for you.

also things like beers, wines and mixed drinks too. Adding CBD and THC to non-alcoholic beer could have value but adding them to alcoholic beers is considered by some to be a recipe for disaster. Hops and cannabis are closely related agricultural products; both have terpenes and terpenoids (THC is a terpenoid), but hops lack The next new thing the cannabis an enzyme (protein) that could industry is infusing with weed is change one of its chemicals to beverages. And not just things THC or CBD. Pretty cool, huh? like iced teas and coffees, but

This hasn’t stopped the beer barons from putting weed in beer (or putting beer in weed), because, well, think of the dollars! The game plan arose from the consumer who wants to get wasted but hates hangovers as well as the market where we need to put weed in everything to see what works. Makers of Busch, Corona and Modelo have partnered with cannabis companies to develop a perfect partnership

of marijuana-infused beer, but there have been many stumbles along the way. A bad grow year, management turnovers, flavor issues, market fickleness, Coronavirus (and the economy) all have made cannabeer a bit slower to catch on than expected. One noticeable change to the alcohol market has been that the introduction of marijuana has dropped alcohol use considerable. In Canada, the

conversing cannabis legalization of cannabis has led to a decrease in alcohol sales by over 30 percent. This has been a crushing blow to an industry that needs Canada to drink. Infusing beer with weed is the perfect answer. Further, the U.S. has yet to legalize marijuana, so the biggest beer drinking market is holding up Busch and Budweiser from making more money (we wonder if they

got money from the Cares Act, hmm?), post Covid19. Canada and countries that have fully legalized cannabis are embracing cannabeer, so don’t cry for them just yet. As a matter of fact, Constellation Beverage Company doubled its investment in Canopy Growth to ramp up their production for 2021. We bet they’ll be just fine, even if they did lose $300 million in 2018-19.

Heck, even Pabst Blue Ribbon is in on the green beer, having just created a PBR Cannabis Infused Seltzer in California. The big Canna Company extracting the right stuff from cannabis and replacing the alcohol with the THC and CBD we all crave is BevZero. You may want to start your stock portfolio with this

Page 9 company. Their sister company Conetech is another to watch. The big issues the U.S. still face are that we are still far behind where we should be in legalizing MJ/MMJ, and marijuana and alcohol are NOT allowed to comingle, so you will be waiting a while to go to your neighborhood pub and have a real “Bud” beer. Then there’s the taste thing…

In a recent study by the University of California San Diego, it was determined that roughly 15% of senior citizens have used cannabis for medical purposes. Pain management, insomnia and anxiety were at the top of the list for why our esteemed elders have decided to go green. It is interesting to note that approximately three out of five of first-time MMJ users are older adults. Most of these people are using out of medical necessity rather than recreation and with proper guidance from a doctor, they have discovered that marijuana does not hold the same stigma that was depicted in “Reefer Madness”. There are a lot of people turning to MMJ for the medical benefits as societal acceptance of nature’s favorite medicine increases. People are realizing that the effects are not as

What is meant by a “Full Spectrum” product, and is there research that proves it’s better somehow? Great question! There are a few parts to the product you buy in the dispensary. One part is CBD, which is famous in the news for helping lots of conditions, and not giving people a “high”. Another part is THC, which has side-effect, like the traditional “high”. A third part is the Terpenes with are responsible for the aroma and have different properties that make them helpful for different diseases. Most of the Terpenes are found in tiny amounts when compared to the CBD and THC, bu this doesn’t mean they aren’t important. Some people come into the dispensary thinking that the higher THC they can get

the better. But several studies have shown that use of a product containing CBD/THC/Terpenes is actually stronger and more beneficial for getting rid of disease than just CBD or just THC. This is one of the reasons its always better to use real cannabis flowers, and other whole plant products because you get all three - known as the “full-spectrum” product. It’s sort of like the full-spectrum of light. When you go out into the sunshine, without clouds interfering, you are getting the full-

spectrum of light. If you want to separate the light into parts, you can get purple or blue light, reds, etc. Blue light is cheap and easy for computer companies to make, so that’w what they use. But your eyes can be hurt, including the risk for macular degeneration - which we are seeing in young people now. But going into the fullspectrum sunshine is not harmful to your eyes, as long as it’s not too bright for too long. It is “full-spectrum”, it contains all the colors. A patient will still want to experiment to find the best possible strain for their condition - which is a very complex topic - because everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different. But combining the CBD and THC gives what is called the “entourage effect”. Entourage is a French word that means all-together, surrounded, escorted. So the entourage effect means the THC.CBD/ and Terpenes are escorting each other, surrounding each other, playing off each other which maximizes their impact.

This can become more severe if your particular allergies are worse, resulting in nasal congestion, eye inflammation, coughing, wheezing and/or sneezing. When MMJ is involved, there is the potential for a little of both of these factors. For those who have been prescribed MMJ to medicate a condition, this can be detrimental. Let’s diagnose the symptoms of an allergy and discuss what we can do to control a reaction.
