danksgiving, green wednesday, Thanksgrooving, or weed wednesday? it’s all good by: TCB Staff

Before Black Friday. Before Turkey Day. There’s a special holiday to prep us all for the family-centric holiday when we realize our family trees are missing a few branches… Green Wednesday. Held the day before Thanksgiving, Danksgiving (or Green Wednesday, Thanksgrooving, Weed Wednesday) is a time to partake and celebrate good times with friends, and for some people, it’s the day to stock-up on TCB-infused drinks, gummies, and tinctures so folks can get into the right headspace before going into the lion’s den, also known as “Thanksgiving Dinner”. Many dispensaries are celebrating by offering special deals, so get out and get yourself sorted and settled so you can handle the long day of kisses, hugs, and life questions you’d rather not answer. A new tradition of serving MCBinfused foods as a celebration has become quite popular for

• Go easy on the infusion of your foods (lacing every dish with Cannabis - NOT a good idea). Consider putting Cannabis in only one or two dishes and label them properly. • Consider serving cannabutter on its own. This allows others to use it as they want. • Have ‘virgin’ dishes for those who do not partake. • Do as much prep work as you can before the big day so you can visit instead of spending the day in the kitchen. • Keep MCB and cannabutter away from kids and pets at all times. • Do NOT slip mickeys to anyone. EVER. You can go to prison for that. Just don’t. people who are short on family and long on friends, but it has also become a day to celebrate how far we have come. We

While you are out shopping for MCB (Medical Cannabis) specials, Green Wednesday is a great time to grab gift certificates, stock up for the next family holiday, and see what new edibles, tinctures, dabs, waxes, and shatters are out there. Dispensaries in legal states claim their sales are up

60 to over 120 percent over an average day. We were quite surprised to find that some dispensaries are open Thanksgiving night and early Black Friday for the shopper who needs to re-up for the long weekend. Many big box retailers are stopping the tradition of luring sale searchers out to shop instead of spending Thanksgiving at home with loved ones. Small businesses are capitalizing on this, and some dispensaries are fine with opening their doors for a flash sale. Black Friday deals may spill over from Green Wednesday, where more sales may be happening.

joe KNows: A conversation with an omma

(Oklahoma’s misguided marijuana authority) inspector by: Joe Smith

Hello, boys and girls, it’s Uncle Joe again. This month, I am going to share my OMMA inspection experience, so grab some popcorn and load a bowl. This is going to be fun. Experienced my first OMMA inspection. The inspector was polite (which is a plus), and pointed out some things I was doing incorrectly. The majority of my mistakes involved paperwork; to be exact, forms that OMMA wants growers to use. “So where do you get the forms?” you ask. You make them yourself. Dead serious. The rules say it’s your responsibility to create them. You try to understand the everchanging emergency rules and guidelines OMMA wants. Well, guess what? It’s very easy to miss something or misinterpret what OMMA requires. Let’s see; there are 8,000plus growers, that means we

all create the forms OMMA wants. This results in 8,000plus different forms. Anyone else see a problem? When I asked the inspector why OMMA does not create standardized forms like other states do (where Medical Marijuana is allowed), the response was, “I do not know.” Next question from me: “That makes sense if you want businesses to be compliant, doesn’t it?” Inspector’s response: “Well, I just do inspections, so it’s not up to me.” I am thinking to myself, “this is exactly the same response Nazi War Criminals used when questioned about war crimes; ‘Just following orders.’” When I asked her about getting support from OMMA with questions pertaining to rules, forms, and anything else regarding the law, instead of the response, “Read the rules, don’t understand them, get an attorney”, the response was, “We are trying to hire more people.”. So, me being me, I said, “When they hire those people, will they answer questions? After all, what do I get for my $2,500?” Response: “I do not know.” I then said, “When 788 passed, OMMA said they wanted small growers like me, and now it appears they do not want small growers, just the big ones that can afford to pay people to do

what OMMA wants.” Response: “All the small growers I have inspected say the same thing.” I think to myself, “Hello? You think this is a problem if we all say it?” The best part of the inspection: Medical Marijuana Waste. She asked, “Where do you store it?” Me: “I don’t store it. I burn it, which is an approved method.” Her: “Well, yes, but where do you store it?” I pointed to my 55 gallon burn barrel. Her: “You have to store it in a locking container that is labeled ‘Medical Marijuana Waste’ before you burn it.” At this point, my mind is too numb to even question the lack of common sense.

If you picked number 1, you’re close. It’s number 2. The OMMA inspector was pretty agitated that I did not pay (yes, I said PAY) to have it picked up and disposed of by a medical marijuana waste processor. This blew my mind. It’s a dead plant. Her: “Anytime a seed sprouts, OMMA considers it to be medical marijuana and it has to be disposed legally. You just can’t burn it.” Me: “Do you have any idea how much it would cost to have them come pick up that dead plant and burn it?” Her: “No, it just has to be done by the rules.”

So, all in all, my humble opinion is the state is still pissed that Actually, I just lied to you; 788 passed, wants to run the these are so much better than small grower out of business, the best. I asked her about and only allow for the large the law (SQ788), stating that growers who can afford pay for only female marijuana plants the insanity to stay in business. are considered marijuana. If they are allowed to manage a Her response: “Male plants multi-million-dollar business like contain no THC so you can’t get this, you, the consumer, are not high.” Me: “Really? So, I could going to get the landrace or hard grow 50,000 male plants and I to find strains, because they do need no license, because they not produce enough for large contain no THC?” Her: “Yes.” growers to bother with. Now for the best of the best (see What needs to happen is an the picture). This is a test. What inspection process to make do you see? sure marijuana is safe to use, reasonable testing fees 1. Charlie Brown Christmas Tree (not $350 for a full panel), 2. Dead Marijuana Plant reasonable sample amounts 3. A healthy Marijuana plant with (not 10 grams), and embrace 75 pounds of flower testing at the business instead of treating 45% THC. it like a red headed stepchild.

joe KNows: a tale of two thanksgivings by: Joe Smith Joe knows. Been there done that more than I care to remember. I rarely discuss my time in the Army and in detail with maybe three people I have known. Today I am going to share a tale of two Thanksgivings while I was in the Army. I spent a little over two years in school learning my profession before I did any field work.

Well good ol’ Uncle Sugar kept his word. How it happened I don’t know, but the food was cold everything. I don’t mean warm, or cool but cold like it had just been grabbed out of a refrigerator. Someone had screwed up royally. If I could have found them, I probably would have been in the stockade. Well, we got our food and bitched. Trying to find someplace semi dry to sit and My first Thanksgiving overseas eat was impossible. I remember was spent at Graf in Germany. sitting on a mortar round crate Graf, or Grafenwoehr as it is and the cold rain dripping off my known by most people, is a steel pot into my already cold huge training area that is always food, thinking ‘this sucks’, and cold, wet, and muddy. I have I would love to place my size been told they have a summer 13 up someone’s four point of over there, but I have never contact. seen it (LOL). The next Thanksgiving had to Thanksgiving that year was be my best one ever. We got spent at Graf - not like I had back to post (Fort Campbell, a choice. I was very excited where I was “permanently when I heard we were going to assigned”), however I was never Germany for Thanksgiving. No on post for more than a month one knows how to have a good straight. We always had some time like mien kameraden, but, place to go and new people to as usual, that good time was not meet. meant to be. We got to post the day before So it was cold (just above Thanksgiving, so we got all the freezing, pretty hard drizzle, reports done, debriefed, tools with intermittent showers with turned in. So, me, Seth, Larry a 10 to 15 mph wind), so just and Ricky went to the chow hall embrace the suck. Since it was that night, got stuffed, went back Thanksgiving, we were going to our barracks, four to a room, to get B rations. B rations are took some well-deserved long, food that is cooked in a kitchen hot showers and hit the rack. and transported to the field in containers, then served out. Next morning, we got up We were told we were going to late, around 10 a.m. Ricky get a traditional Thanksgiving remembers it’s Thanksgiving, so dinner with all the trimmings. we all shower, shave, put on out

class A’s with all the goodies on them, blouse our spit-shinned boots, and proceed to the chow hall. Man, that was an eye opener. Chow hall was full on decorated, they had turkey, ham, roast beef, and even a roast goose, with all the trimmings, and talk about desserts! Man, we ate so much we had to let our belts out.

My body is worn out, but you know I am still not taking a dirt nap. Maybe someday I will write about a POS Captain I worked for; when he came out to the field to see what was going on, he had his driver put down boards so not to get his boots muddy. Yeap, he was a ring knocker.

SSGT. Anaduchi (Mess Sargent) knocked it out of the park. We all kicked in $50 a month for the unofficial mess fund, and always wondered where it went (we always did the typical piss and moan routine), but when we saw the spread we knew where it went. We headed back to the barracks, picked up two six packs of Olympia Beer, some cigars, drank the beer, smoked the cigars, played poker, and spades. We talked, laughed, and had a great time. I will never forget those good friends as men, even though we were all less than 25. I look forward to drinking a beer with Seth and Larry again on the other side. Ricky is still here in body. Found him a few years back, and I wished I had not. He does not know up from down, but his wife takes good care of him. So, when I tell people that I am grateful, for a roof over my head, full belly, running water etc., I am.

is still hurting our

veterans unnecessarily by: Amy Addams

We hear a lot about the issues our Vets are dealing with. Our Veterans are oftentimes stuck with a deteriorating medical system, lack of followthrough from the VA, lack of employment, and difficulty adjusting to civilian life. Many Vets are left to sort through these issues on their own. We are not okay with this, so read on and pass your knowledge along to a Vet in your life along with a message that we care and will not stop discussing this. To our Veterans: Thank you for sacrificing everything to keep our freedoms free. If you are suffering from PTSD, depression, or financial problems, PLEASE reach out for help. more brave soldier to suicide. Please know you are special and deserve the best this country has to offer. Veteran’s Administration: (800) 698-2411, Emergency help: (800) 2738255 or www.va.gov. A few weeks ago, I met a Veteran who told me that, at one point, he was taking about 30 meds and still had PTSD symptoms. Medical Cannabis helped him to reduce his meds to four per day, but it really helped him get through his days. PTSD has become a catchall term for people who experienced trauma in their past, not just soldiers who survived war. A big problem we

face in America is the stigma that comes from having mental health issues and addressing them with therapy, medication, and care. What if MCB is the ticket to a better life? Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder affects at least 3.5 percent of Americans, 20 percent of Veterans, and no cure exists. There is hope and people will help you find relief. What we know about PTSD: • Most people who have PTSD have an endocannabinoid deficiency, so there is proof that there are physical ties to this health problem. • Medical Cannabis was proven to help people with PTSD by

changing how the amygdala works. The amygdala controls our ‘Fight or Flight” instinct and people with PTSD are unable to control their amygdala’s response to stresses. For some, it includes a tendency to be stuck reliving or thinking about the traumatic event that triggered the PTSD. • Many PTSD sufferers have anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, appetite problems, weight changes, paranoia, and debilitating depression. • While many people have problems finding the right pharmaceutical cocktail to control the anxiety and depression of PTSD, MCB has been able to quickly address

cannabis and your blood pressure by: Amy Addams

We found so many health fixes for Medical Cannabis (MCB), it’s almost mental overload to deal with all these topics, but when we saw that MCB can reduce your BLOOD PRESSURE (AKA hypertension), we were floored. With Veteran’s Day approaching, it’s a good time to discuss the stress and emotional trauma Vets face. We learned that many Vets suffering from PTSD have been prescribed as many as 34 to 38 medications at once; with cannabis, many Vets have dropped their medication load down to as little as three. It’s also the scariest holiday of the year for some: Thanksgiving. A day full of family, travel, and

medications unless you discuss this with your doctor. Cutting them out without notifying your doctor is not the best idea. You need a game plan.

• Sleep Promoting Cannabinoids - THC, CBN, CBG

Elevated blood pressure can be caused and affected by mental, emotional, and physical issues. Many people with hypertension have stress, anxiety, sleep problems, and depression. If you want to find a strain that lowers your BP, finding the right family of strains is the first step.

• Pain Relieving and Anti-Inflammatory Terpenes pinene, limonene, myrcene, linalool, bisabol, caryophyllene, terpinolene

And that’s where we begin our chat on how marijuana can control blood pressure. It’s not anecdotal, MCB has been shown to lower systolic and diastolic pressure and it lowers intraocular pressure (eye pressure related to glaucoma). With recent news stories telling people to stop using low dose aspirin for heart attack risks, the timing of these findings couldn’t be better.

What do I look for?

• Myrcene sedates, relaxes, and increases the effects of THC.

stress. Hypertension is often tied to stress.

Let’s start by NOT cutting out your current blood pressure

A 50/50 of THC to CBD has proven to be good for hypertension but finding other MCB properties that help with your specific issues is key. If you’ve been keeping a list of helpful strains, grab the car keys and pay a visit to your budtender. If you are overwhelmed, we have suggestions to help you.

• Anti-inflammatory Cannabinoids - THC, CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN, THCA, CBDA, THCV

Terpenes for Hypertension:

• Sleep Promoting Terpenes myrcene, linalool, caryophyllene

Strains to consider: Using a Sativa-dominant strain during the day, and an Indicadominant strain in the evenings can keep your daytime energy levels up and allow you to get better sleep at night, but that’s not all. A strain that has 30 percent THC is not nearly as important as having higher CBD percentages and ratios. A one-to-one of THC to CBD can reduce pain. The best strains for your blood pressure are lower in THC and won’t have huge psychoactive effects and is perfect for the patient who is new to MCB.

• Pain Relieving Cannabinoids - THC, CBD, CBG, CBC, THCV, CBN.THCA Some recommended strains for and CBDA (unheated forms of hypertension are: THC and CBD) • Cannatonic • CBD Kush • Energizing Cannabinoids CBD, THC, THCV, CBG, CBC • One to One
