When a resident of Oklahoma files a new or renewal application, OMMA has ninety (90) days to respond. If something is deemed incorrect on an application it is returned to the applicant. OMMA gives the applicant 30 days to remedy the error. The application is returned to OMMA and they have another 90 days to approve or deny application. It also feeds the microbes in the soil, so your girls get every last little bit of nutrition from the soil. This is unlike harsh chemical fertilizers that kill off those beneficial microbes.

If you’ve never heard of it, Turgor is defined as: “pressure exerted by fluid in a cell that presses the cell membrane against the cell wall. Turgor is what makes living plant tissue rigid. Loss of turgor, resulting from the loss of water from plant cells, causes flowers and leaves to wilt.

Turgor pressure is the force within the cell that pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall. It is also called hydrostatic

What it means in everyday English: is your plant full or empty? You want your plant full all the time. A full plant is a happy plant, they will give you the best yield. left and right. You only have to move the plant a couple of inches each way, if you feel resistance and it is stiff, you have a happy plant! A full and happy plant requires water. Proper watering is required to get nutrients to all areas of your plants. The goal is to get all the nutrients to your buds as possible.

water and you stress your plant(s) and your yield and quality suffer. Save yourself the headache (and avoid a dirty index finger) and buy a moisture meter like the one pictured. You can pick one up online for less than $10, including shipping. Take my word for it; they are well worth it.

So how do you tell if your plant has enough water? Well, the first is to look at it. If it droops, guess what it needs? Water. That’s pretty self-explanatory. One popular method is to stick your index finger up to the knuckle and see if it’s damp. Not to be rude, but if you are doing it that way, you are wrong.

Every plant is going to be different when it comes to water and nutrients; I think we all would agree on that. With that said, two gallons per plant is not a one-size-fits-all solution, you have to use the stiff plant method and moisture meter to see how much water the plant needs. Once you get to know your plants, you can get close enough to how much water they need by touching them. Next month we will discuss water deprivation for increased potency. Until then, happy growing. “Joe Knows”

With Cannabis you want deep roots, and three inches deep is not a good indication of what the moisture level is where the majority of your roots are, or should be. Too much water, you get root rot, too little

gmo’s vs organics: what’s the diff and who cares?

by: TCB Staff (with help from the USDA)

OMMA defines contaminants as “Microbial”, “Metals”, “Pesticides”, “Mycotoxins” and “Foreign Material/Filth” with no exact amounts listed. What is acceptable for organic is not covered, and if you are concerned about GMOs, then MCB was never for you. With all the excitement about the “naturalness” of cannabis, we thought it was time to enlighten us all on some overused terms that don’t always line-up with our perceptions. Two of the biggest ones, GMOs and Organics, are often described incorrectly.

We are inundated with info on food and consumables that sounds scary, important, promising, and odd, but we’re left wondering what’s truly important and what’s nonsense? In the MCB (Medical Cannabis) world, there’s no federal oversight, except the USDA overseeing the hemp market, and the OMMA’s website information is vague. We wanted to know why it matters. Here’s what we learned:

2. Production Batch A (MCB is made into a concentrate or extract), and 3. Production Batch B (MCB is made into “edibles and other products”).

Labs will test for lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic, “pesticides” (OMMA does not explain which pesticides or active ingredients they look for), water activity (def: “a measurement of bioavailable water… available outside OMMA has three points requiring testing if you are in the of the cells of the sample”), microorganisms, yeast, mold, MCB biz: THC levels, terpenes, “and 1. Harvest Batch (requires more”. The OMMA-approved labs do not list specific data and flower testing),

GMOs: GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism; we’ve been genetically modifying plants and animals long before we understood genetics. You’ve been consuming them and they ain’t all bad, just misunderstood. Modifying (changing) genetics has been key to helping plants and animals resist disease, pests, fungus, mold, and other problems instead of using chemical intervention. Of course, there have been some ‘oops’ moments and a few ‘oh crap’ ones too, but GMOs are a large part of our food supply. GMOs got a bad rap a few years ago when it was revealed that GMO corn used to make animal feed was also an ingredient in taco shells and many consumers freaked out. We

share our foods with animals all the time, but the term started a firestorm of fear. In the cannabis world, dang near every strain is a GMO these days. Strains are cross bred to increase THC and terpenes, make plants resistant to pests, fungus, or disease, and to enhance desirable traits. SCIENCE STUFF: Non-GMO seeds and plants are called Heirloom in the fruit and vegetable world, and in the cannabis community, non-GMO cannabis strains are called Land Race Strains. Organics: We’ll save you from most of the tech-speak, but in general, organic farming avoids many of the chemicals that became agricultural game-changers after World War II. It did not work as well as expected, as invaders and diseases have become resistant to the chemicals, forcing agricultural producers to continually increase toxicity and some have become broadspectrum (meaning the chemical kills everything, even the good bugs and bacteria). Damage to soil, water, people, and loss of profits for farmers have led to many farmers looking at organics as an easier way to go. To be recognized as an organic farmer, you must meet USDA’s stringent requirements (USDA

conversing cannabis has a list at: www.ams.usda. gov/rules-regulations/organic). You can request permission from the USDA to be an organic farming operation, but there are many hurdles farms must clear to get that certification. Once a farm is approved to be organic, every step of operation must be recorded: seeds, water, fertilizers, feed, inputs, and processes are logged by the farmer and checked by the USDA. In the MCB world, many growers have gone indoors where every component of growth is controlled, from lights to humidity to air flow to soil contaminants to water supply. If other products, such as carrots were grown in this kind of environment, we would not be able to afford carrots at $25/ pound.

There are so many genetically modified and non-organic foods grown and processed to feed our growing global population, chemicals have become a necessity. State oversight of MCB oftentimes has no federal experts to consult for contamination limitations and parameters like they do with organic foods. What’s worse, the federal gubmint still sees cannabis and medical cannabis as a Schedule 1 illegal substance. Until cannabis is decriminalized at a minimum, the contaminant parameters will be sketchy. BUT, things are improving.

The 2018 Farm Bill took a giant step towards legalizing marijuana nationwide, and there is a bill awaiting the Senate’s The difficult part is what defines return from another vacation. ‘Organic’: There are many Growing support for cannabis chemicals considered “organic” legalization from voters of all but dangerous to our health, ages, races, and ethnicities and there are chemicals that are shows that Americans are ready perfectly safe, but do not get a for proper oversight. USDA organic sticker. Baking soda is safe and non-organic, and arsenic is not safe, yet it is organic. Organic bakers use baking soda all the time, and list it as a non-organic ingredient. If they used arsenic, they would be organic, yes, but they would kill customers, so the organics industry allows for a little bit of non-organic ingredients in organic foods. Yes, we are leaving out a lot of data, but these two overused terms mean extraordinarily little.

Let’s talk about hemp, baby by Amy Addams this, they started levying new taxes on Americans, thereby setting the stage for the Boston Stamp Act in 1765 where all things British were boycotted. Just shows how great hemp is, yeah?

We can’t help our need to fill your head with all kinds of cannabis knowledge, and since finding out that we missed July’s month of hemp happyness, we need to make up for it. Did you know July is (was) Hemp Month? Particularly the week of July 17-23 has been labeled Hemp History Week, initiated by cbdMD company since way back in 2019 to enlighten and inspire us all to know more about how this plant can do so much more than we think. Cannabis dates back to 8000 BC with origins in China, where it is called ‘ma’, female plants (flowering cannabis) is called

‘cha’ and male plants (hemp) are called ‘his’. Easy enough, right? What all those years of growing hemp taught them was that the male plants made better clothing and the female plants made better seeds. Move up about 10,000 years and we find that early American settlers grew weed too. As a matter of fact, Americans grew LOTS of hemp before the Revolutionary War. It may be what made the Brits mad as Americans exported very little of this magical crop back to England and chose instead to keep all they produced (some say it was because the settlers did not have cell phones. What else was there to do but lightup?).

Oddly, Great Britain was also a big producer of hemp and their rulers wanted what America grew to be returned to them as well, but American settlers sent for Irish weavers who taught them all kinds of ways to make fabric, rope, and paper. The Brits got so cranky over

Hemp got so popular in the U.S., farmers were forced to grow it or be taxed by the U.S. gubmint (there’s logic in here somewhere), and hemp kept its popularity until the 1930’s when “Reefer Madness” was accepted as some new logic and America broke up with weed, but many believe it was the oil, cotton and timber industries that had bigger roles in the destruction of hemp farming. We told you before that America went chemical in its agriculture post-WWII. Hemp could have helped to leach some of the trace chemicals and heavy metals from soils, but instead other chemicals were manufactured and sold to farmers to help enhance production and feed the growing global population.

research the benefits and risks. Of course, the feds are never in a rush to do anything.

Until 2020. That’s when the pandemic hit and weed kept the rollercoaster on the tracks for many of us. Then, we had an election and Biden said he would legalize marijuana at the federal level in his first 100 days. Then he changed his answer 99 days in and wanted to make cannabis a Schedule 2 drug so universities could

But all is not lost. Many Senators and Congresspeeps are doing all they can to get us over that fed hurdle. A bill is in the pipeline to make changes to the laws - so let’s see where the future takes us.

Jump ahead to 2018 when the Farm Bill passed (and hemp was removed from the Controlled Substances Act) and America cut back a bit on the crazy. Lots of states have legalized medical (and recreational) hemp and cannabis, science labs published findings on how safe and useful hemp is, and almost everyone was getting happy.

Carbon Dioxide ENRICHMENT • The air today has a natural CO2 concentration level of 350~400ppm. Plants have ability to consume up to 1500 ppm of CO2. • Supplementing CO2 can increase yield and growth by 20% or more. • When using high powered lights, CO2 supplementation increases plants ability to photosynthesize. • Adding CO2 can make plants more resistant to heat and light stress. • CO2 burners emit other gases during combustion that can be detrimental to plant health. A steady supply of CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation.

Carbon Dioxide EXTRACTION

call us today or visit our website!

• CO2 is known as a “tunable solvent” making it extremely versatile for creating a multitude of end products by controlling temperature and pressure. • Carbon Dioxide is cleaner, more efficient and less expensive than other chemical solvents. • Minimal extraction times and higher yields. • Non-beverage grade CO2 can contain high levels of sulfur, benzene, acetaldehyde, ammonia and other impurities that effect product quality. • A steady supply of beverage grade CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation. • ZERO residual solvent content as CO2 evaporates away.
