tired? feeling blah? couch locked? There’s a strain for that by: TCB Staff

We know that there are many who shop strains for THC levels or Sativa versus Indica and ignore so many other factors that control your cannabis’ effect. But what many forget is that there are strains that enhance your mood, energy levels, and creativity without strapping you to the couch all day, watching re-runs on Discovery Channel. Sure, you can ask for Sativas and Sativa-leaning hybrids, but you might want to also ask about the terpene profile if you are hankering for motivation to clean the house, get your creativity back, or find the drive to take on a procrastinated project. 4. We’ve said it before but keeping a record of strains you like will go further to help you find the best ‘energy strain’ than a shotgun approach. Finding that special group of terpenes that speak to your needs is mental gold.

It never hurts to try a sample edible in the strain you think you may like. Start small, give it time to work, and document your success (or failure). Another way to experiment is to buy what you already know you like, then get your bonus pre-roll in a new strain or use frequent buyer discounts on the new stuff. And, as always, ask your budtender what the most popular strains are for creativity, energy, pain relief and mood enhancement. You’ll be off that couch in no time.

3. For real relief using the Entourage Effect, smoking flower over vaping will provide better effects. Many vape products strip out the terpenes, causing us to use more to get minimal effects. Try to find whole plant extracts (a concentrate made from bud, stems and leaves), especially if you have physical ailments that limit your mobility or cause you pain. This is often called FullSpectrum on the package and if you want energy, you want this.

5. There are strain families that are inherently better for finding your energy: Hazes, Purples, OG Kush, Tangies, Cookies, and Cakes can all help with getting you moving. Of course, we hear from many people that Sativas are better for motivation than Indicas, but we suggest you don’t limit yourself by choosing one over the other. Maybe start with a Hybrid that leans toward Sativa to start.

CBD has so many physical relief properties, we’d need to double our mag to discuss them all, but CBD can also take away some of the negative anxiety and paranoia if you’ve consumed too much THC. Some strains include: Charlotte’s Web, Harlequin, ACDC, Cannatonic, Catatonic, and CBC Critical Cure. CBD has so many positives we’ve ignored in our search for the magical THC number, the biggest being that CBD works to boost THC and enhance your experience.

joe KNows: don’t grow breaking my heart by: Joe Smith People said I should have sold it for processing, but hell no, I personally think that if your plant is contaminated any product from it is as well. After that $10,000 dollar mistake, I decided my knowledge was lacking to say the least. I consider PM to be the STD of the Marijuana world and left untreated, it will spread to everyone.

I started the trim process and saw what I thought was bird poop that almost washed off, get to trimming more, saw the white, gray and brown signs of bud rot, and powdery mildew. It was so bad when I started touching the True horror story: one year, I had some high-power strains flower, they would fall off. All six of Durban Poison. I had topped plants were like that. I burned all six plants that day along with them well and everything was perfect. Or so I thought. When I the 30 pounds of wet trim from went to harvest them, the colas them. I said they were perfect, were as long as my forearm and and they sure looked it. And thicker than a soda can. I mean Durban Poison is supposed to HUGE! I was looking forward to be one of the most resistant a solid harvest. strains for powdery mildew. This is what happens when you spend months growing out your girls and looking at the big dense buds. Then you find out they have powdery mildew.

Once your plants have it, it stays, there is no getting rid of it, and all you can do is loss mitigation. Most of the time it is best to burn the infected plant.

I started doing my research: read more; Cervantes, Rosenthal, doing hours of research online and talking to people, and remembering how my Grandmother treated what she called the “crud” in her vegetable garden. My Grandmother, her name was Ida, treated her garden with spoiled milk. Turns out Ida knew exactly what she was doing; the Lactobacilli kills and keeps PM from reproducing. So, after all the research I came up with a formula for treatment of PM.

It’s simple, organic, cost effective, and most important, it works. Here it is: 20% milk to water ratio, it does not make You know all I grow is outdoor, any difference what kind of milk, and when done correctly, you I buy what is on sale. The BLUNT Truth

growing Pains: intention and commitment

by Luke Spaulding, CEO / Founder of Expansion Pack (Shambhala Wellness LLC)

What is your secret to success? It may not be worded so bluntly, though often this is the question that many people are asking when navigating their newly founded cannabis business. In such a unique and young industry surrounding this ageold, controversial commodity, we finally have so much cuttingedge research, technology, and

market data being revealed that it excites people. We want to know, “What are you using?! What are you yielding? What about this?” Ideas start flowing and heads get going. I am as guilty as any seed-hoarding, forum-surfing weed-nerd out there when it comes to geekingout and experimenting with new equipment and techniques. Still, for me, these are not the most important questions when it comes being successful. As I support other farmers and operators in optimizing their businesses, the first questions I ask are, “Who are you?” and “What do you want?”

www.vermillionkush.biz

This industry is wild, as is the plant that gives it life. We have foregone nearly all ancient tradition and methods of cultivating cannabis with the help of prohibition, and still, with all its vigor and cunning, cannabis has found its way back into the hands of the masses. Nothing but Mother Nature herself could nurture such a symbiotic relationship with unlimited utility in exchange for proliferating seed. All the while, the harsh realities of many farmers experience daily would seem to say otherwise. What once was a cherished hobby for someone who would grow a couple pounds for their friends every now and then can quickly

turn into a seemingly grueling obligation when scaled up to a commercial level. Taxes, tags, and testing: the three terrible T’s of legal THC. Growing weedjust isn’t as sexy as it used to be, and people get to ask themselves: “What am I really doing this for?”

cannabis commerce When people get honest with themselves, it usually comes down to one thing: fast, easy money; the ol’ turn and burn technique. I get it, I am not opposed to money. I just think this industry is a little too finicky for someone to simply pop their head in and out of. Staying compliant with constantly changing regulations, planning for seasonally fluctuating market conditions that are also determined by weather and other unpredictable environmental factors...these are just two of the big hangups for many contenders. Not to mention keeping up with the evolution of consumer demand, innovations in breeding and genetics and figuring out how to navigate taboo and social acceptance in conservative

There is, absolutely, incredible amounts of money to be generated by small businesses; with it, miraculous things they can use it for. This is one of few industries where the little guy can become the big guy. Where people can bring light, their family legacy, and share in prosperity. And! (this is a big “and”)...and, this is also one of few industries where someone can slap together a fly-by-night operation impressive enough for Instagram models to come

I write this not with the intention of judgement, nor to dissuade someone to pursue whatever ambitions they have with cannabis, but merely to bring to light the power of intention. The truth of the matter is, there are much easier ways to impress people, make fast money, and raise prestige, and we are smart creatures. We will find the path of least resistance to our greatest commitments in life. Running a successful cannabis business is very much

Carbon Dioxide ENRICHMENT • The air today has a natural CO2 concentration level of 350~400ppm. Plants have ability to consume up to 1500 ppm of CO2. • Supplementing CO2 can increase yield and growth by 20% or more. • When using high powered lights, CO2 supplementation increases plants ability to photosynthesize. • Adding CO2 can make plants more resistant to heat and light stress. • CO2 burners emit other gases during combustion that can be detrimental to plant health. A steady supply of CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation.

Carbon Dioxide EXTRACTION • CO2 is known as a “tunable solvent” making it extremely versatile for creating a multitude of end products by controlling temperature and pressure. • Carbon Dioxide is cleaner, more efficient and less expensive than other chemical solvents. • Minimal extraction times and higher yields. • Non-beverage grade CO2 can contain high levels of sulfur, benzene, acetaldehyde, ammonia and other impurities that effect product quality. • A steady supply of beverage grade CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation. • ZERO residual solvent content as CO2 evaporates away.

How did i get here? by Tiffany Cavari I got here by never giving up on my dream. I got here by living through trauma and self-healing. I got here by putting all my free time and energy into my music. Even when I was treated as less than because I was a woman or when I was taken advantage of because I was a woman. I got here because I would not suck my way to the top. I got here from by letting go of what everyone else wanted for me and doing what I love. I got here by being true to myself. Being a solo female artist in this industry is challenging; many men feel entitled to sexually abuse women trying to make a name for themselves, but I won’t do anything to get to the top. After high school, I was lost. I was selling drugs and partying too much. I made music,

but it was more for myself. I needed to make a big change, so I joined the Army National Guard. After completing four years of service, I worked in the fast-food industry, and I also got signed to Prostreamz, an underground recording label that came to an end, but my love for music kept going. I did ghost writing for a production company, hoping to get myself closer to fame, but I found that it was only holding me back. So, I took charge of my music career and started booking my own shows; I opened for artists such as Twista, Travie McCoy, and BigBoy. As I chased my dream, I grew, learned, and molded myself into someone new. Everyone around me told me I should be doing music that I truly felt. As time passed and brought me to today, I now make my music organically: straight from my heart and soul. I learned big lessons about my innate skills for people and customer service working as a waitress at a Holiday Inn for five years. I loved that job. I love catering to people, assisting them, and knowing I had a role in their having a good time. I achieved the top service recommendation on Trip Advisor and I was the only server scheduled to work alone because almost every guest requested me as their waitress. It was eye-opening to know I had people skills that are appreciated and in-demand.

I’ve moved back and forth from Skiatook, OK to West Palm Beach, Florida since I was seven. My parents tried to stay married, but it didn’t work out. That’s how I always had a connection to Oklahoma. I was my grandmother’s caretaker, and after she passed in 2018, I moved back to Skiatook to live with my mother. Then Covid hit, life stopped for all of us, but we are now seeing light at the end of the tunnel. When I think about the people that helped me, I think about my mother. She has always believed in me and accepted me despite the crazy things I did. I watched that woman come from po dunk poor to become a soon to be retired millionaire. She taught me more things in life than anyone on this earth. I would not be here today if it weren’t for her. I want to be the person who revamps the current adoption/ orphan system and create a better non-system, so every child receives a loving, influential, lifelong family to raise them and love them, no matter their age, race, or background. I want to be the person that makes a difference past the now or self and I want that difference to last forever. Now, I am working toward one day owning The Current Buzz so I can fund my music. In the meantime, I am a UPS truck loader by early morning, a sales

rep for TCB during the day, and a musician by night. I am a business savvy, idealistic, music making news network establisher. I am a living prototype on future success while sticking to my principles of giving love to everyone, which coincidentally, fits into the cannabis industry’s way of doing business. And I plan to stick to my principles. World Culture Music Festival – how I got there I got involved in the WCMF after meeting Darrel Davis in one of those “right place right time” situations. He was one of the first Hip Hop influencers in Oklahoma, and, with that, I also met Steph Simon, a major music influencer in Tulsa. Steph Simon offered me the opportunity to be a part of the World Culture Music Festival, a cultural music and arts festival since 2017. With all that has happened in the past year converging with the 100-year anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, this year’s festival will be monumental. I will be performing a tribute to 1921, created from the inspiration from the Fire in Little Africa (Tulsa Race Massacre). steph simon - getting to woodstock via tulsa by Tiffany Cavari Strolling down memory lane does Greenwood no justice, but we can prevent more of these atrocities by sharing the truths behind this blood stain on Oklahoma’s history and its streets. One man I had the pleasure to have a one-on-one with is Black Wall Street’s face of the future, Steph Simon. Despite how the history bled into the soil for almost 100 years, Greenwood is rebuilding its way back to greatness from where it burned a century ago with the help of this remarkable man. In 2008, Steph’s mother passed, and Steph fell into a dark depression. He became distant and broken, battling with loss, trying to figure life out, sleeping from couch to couch, and he found himself wasting away with no sense of direction. Through work, he generated a lifeline to save himself. Working kept him alive. Steph found his purpose by working. Retelling the story of the fire in Little Africa in facts rather than platitudes spoke to his need to feed his soul

and give to his community, but he also knew it would make his mother proud. That was sufficient motivation to make his passion his work. Coming from the Northside of Tulsa, Simon strived to be more than just a basic black man statistic. He was in his early 20’s with an apartment, PS3, and a music studio. He had everything he needed to feel like he made it. Then one day, Steph was watching YouTube videos and came across his favorite American rapper, The Game. The Game was leaving his band, G-Unit to start his own label called Black Wall Street. Instantly, Simon took The Game’s side and followed the Black Wall Street label. He did his research and was surprised to find that Oklahoma had a place where black owned businesses thrived. He also gathered all the facts on what happened on Greenwood in 1921, and his life changed. From music, business, and everyday living, he decided to be a voice for what was buried in time and the World Culture Mon-Fri 10a-6p Sat 12p-6p

Music Collective was born. Today, Steph is a father, a creator, an artist under the World Culture Music Collective, and the executive producer of the album, Fire In Little Africa, but most of all, Steph Simon is making changes for the greater good of the world. Simon founded the World Culture Music Festival in 2015, and finally, in 2021, he will soon see his dream come true. Steph’s vision is to create a festival as epic as Woodstock. This year, he is not throwing a concert, he begins his path to Woodstock by hosting a festival. But he can’t do it alone. We stand on the precipice of becoming the people we always thought we would be before adulthood and day-to-day existence jaded us. After the insanity of 2020, we can find that special person within and become who we were meant to be, just like the attendees of Woodstock did 52 years ago. Steph Simon is a kind man, filled with love and passion, a giver, and a man with a plan.

there’s a new delta in town, and it’s a 10 by Amiea Eleban The DEA has said “All synthetically derived tetrahydrocannabinols remain scheduled I controlled substances.” The DEA’s definition of synthetically derived tetrahydrocannabinols is:

Have you noticed all the different THC variations there are nowadays? I remember way back when, all you had was “weed”. Now you have so many different options, but I see that as kind of a good thing. More options mean you’re more likely to find something to fit your needs. This time we’re gonna talk about Delta10. What is Delta10 THC? Delta10 THC is another cannabinoid found in Marijuana and Hemp plants. Although it is found in even smaller amounts then Delta8 THC and Delta9 THC, it is in such small amounts that some labs even mistake it for CBD and CBL. Does Delta10 get you high? Short answer is yes, it can. Delta10 is not like Delta8 or Delta9 (Delta9 is the most intense high of the three). According to David Reckles from Private Label CBD Lab, the high from Delta10 is even less intense than Delta8 - which is

good news for those who don’t have a high tolerance to THC: “I would compare Delta10 to a Sativa in terms of its effects, while Delta8 is more of an Indica.” How does Delta10 make me feel?

“For tetrahydrocannabinols that are naturally occurring constituents of the plant material, Cannabis sativa L., any material that contains 0.3% or less of D9 -THC by dry weight is not controlled, unless specifically controlled elsewhere under the CSA.” What forms does Delta10 come in? You can find Delta10 in:

Normally, people prefer Delta8 to aid in sleep and relaxation. Delta10 is more uplifting and energizing, better for daytime use. Can you fail a drug test from using Delta10? Yes. A urinalysis cannot determine the difference between Delta9 and Delta10. So, if you are submitted to drug tests, Delta10 will not fly you under the radar. Is Delta10 illegal? Well, it depends: if it is derived from hemp, it is legal, but if it comes from the Marijuana plant it is illegal.

• Disposable pens • Vape cartridges • Gummies • Tincture/oil • Dabbing syringes • Chocolate bars • Shatter • Flower and pre rolls (Delta10 is sprayed on) Expect to see more variations of different THC compounds in the world of cannabis. As technology advances, there will be more we can learn about cannabis and its array of uses. The number of applications for the Deltas is only now being explored, but we have high hopes for what they can do in the future. We’ll keep you in the know.

medical findings: ocd symptoms can be controlled with cannabis by Amy Addams requiring a lot of legal help (which = $$$), AND the only source of MCB the uni can access comes from Mississippi, which currently has a big backlog (any and all other studies will cause federal funds to the school to be completely cut, including federal student aid, loans and grants). We can all agree this past year was wet dog crap stuck in the cleats of our boots. Even if you were not directly impacted by Covid, there was some aspect of our life that was messed with. Shortages of food, household goods, DORITOS… supply lines reopened with prices marked up significantly, and people who needed help found that it was not forthcoming, or it was like running a gauntlet. Now, imagine dealing with all that while managing a mental health problem. If you are unfamiliar, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a mental health issue that manifests in the need to do a task multiple times (turning off lights, hand washing, checking locks), the need to have things arranged in a particular way, and/or irrational thoughts that intrude on life. During Covid, there were many OCD patients who found themselves unable to handle the new normal and some lost their jobs and access to medications. What’s more, OCD patients often feel the need to lash out

when their symptoms become overwhelming. Because there are too few mental health resources in the U.S., many patients are incarcerated rather than given the resources to control OCD symptoms. It’s worth noting that many of the pharmaceutical meds prescribed for OCD do not give the kind of relief patients need, but instead, only do a partial job on the best days. When symptoms manifest and the OCD has gotten out of control, many people have no recourse but to find their own solutions through street drugs or alcohol. But there is hope. Washington State University did a study on how Medical Cannabis (MCB) can help to reduce the manifestations of OCD and the results were promising (with a few caveats, of course). First, the study had to be done in Canada; if a U.S. university wants to study cannabis, there are multiple hurdles to jump,

Second, much of the methodology and results were a bit ad hoc and anecdotal, however, it couldn’t be denied that there is proof that MCB can help control the anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and compulsions that OCD creates. It’s worth noting that there was no placebo group and some of the patients were self-diagnosed but knowing that the agony of OCD can be controlled with MCB, even to a lesser degree, is a game changer. Third, scientists analyzed the THC and CBD levels of the MCB used and they found that high amounts of CBD were key to alleviating the worst symptoms such as intrusive thoughts (89% reduction), anxiety reduction (94%), and compulsion reduction (over 95%). Overall, only a few patients said their symptoms were made worse (2.4%), but no description as to what the cause may be was found. Follow-up questionnaires were sent to see if MCB could be a

long-term solution for OCD, and patients estimated that they had an overall success: over 60% reduction of compulsions, 50% reduction of intrusive thoughts and anxiety, which compared to a composite success rate of 41% for pharmaceuticals, it appears that MCB could do a lot more for OCD patients if the federal government would drop its Schedule 1 status and/or change the laws to allow more medical studies of this kind to happen. The good news is that President Biden is starting the process to make this happen (although not in the time we hoped): MCB is expected to be dropped from Schedule 1 (akin to heroin) to Schedule 2 (akin to cocaine and crack) soon. This rescheduling will open-up opportunities for universities to conduct further research into how MCB can help those suffering with mental health issues. If you want to be a part of the change, start by reaching out to your Congressman and Senator and tell them they need to vote to drop the Schedule 1 status of MCB.
