We’re back in print! let’s catch up by: TCB Staff

Hey, y’all! We took some time away from printing (since November), we felt it was best for everyone’s safety to not send delivery guys everywhere and risk their health. Now, we are ready to rock the new year. Let’s get to it. Here’s what you may have missed: 1. SO MANY states have gone legal: Arizona, Montana, and New Jersey all went fully legal on November 3, 2020 and South Dakota, Mississippi, legalized medical cannabis.

and we have a local Naturopath here to help you medicate. We have ideas and tips in this issue and we’ll keep the info flowing in future issues. We will also post some helpful links on our website. We are keeping our eyes on the new strains worth a try, stuff that creative folks have come up with to help you take charge and stay in control of your medication, and ideas on how to extend your money at the dispensary along with deals and steals we find in our travels.

Of course, we will keep you past four presidents said that part to give this year’s 420 the informed of what you need to too. We’ll keep an eye on love it so desperately needs and know to stay legal, what’s up in 2. THREE vaccines were that. • If you or someone you love has Parkinson’s, then we have info that will offer hope. The research into cures turned up some data that shows MMJ is

a viable option to treat not only the symptoms of Parkinson’s but could potentially cure it as well. While this research is new, it may turn over a new leaf for the millions who suffer from changes to motor skills. You want to have an open and honest discussion with your doctor if you are using, or planning to use, cannabis to self-medicate. Check out www. ncbi.nim.nih.gov, www.cureus. com and www.parkinsons.org to learn more. • Lastly, March is Women’s Month, so we give a nod to MMJ/MJ’s effects on women’s health. Unfortunately, the U.S. has fallen way behind other countries in our studies on this topic (which tells us all that we need to get legal on a federal level, even if it only leads to research grants at universities). One huge study done in Europe found that cannabis can relieve menopause symptoms. Everything from pelvic pain to hot flashes to mood swings can be addressed with even miniscule amounts of cannabis. politics and cannabis by TCB Staff LSD on street corners, BUT the cops are more likely to ticket your first offense, then ramp-up from there. This is a new take on an old idea. Lawmakers see the immense amounts of money spent on criminalizing drugs and using incarceration as the only viable option. Prisons are expensive; education, treatment and helping addicts has been proven to be a better plan (we covered how Portugal did this You may have heard we had an with big success many moons election this past November. Oregon decriminalized be defunct, undoing years of all drugs, but don’t confuse adjusting and tweaking to make that with legalization. Oregon a legalization plan that fits each politicians are not handing out state’s unique issues. California

has a long history of cannabis problems and more creep up each year. We are super-curious to know what the fed tax will be. 5. Oklahoma has some problems in need of fixing: don’t misunderstand, Oklahoma House voted to change numbers of dispensaries, growers and processors (HB2677), but if you are buying Black Market, there are many herbicides, pesticides, and additives that you could be smoking as well. The price of cannabistic refreshment at a dispensary is a strong financial competitor for that BM stuff and it won’t kill you. Let’s all go legal and stay alive. 6. Arkansas is having some issues, and the market is a tough one. If you want to open a dispensary in AR, you’ll need $100K to get a license, then you have numerous zoning issues on where you can open your shop. But WAIT, there’s MORE: Arkansas is low on product too. Which means their prices are pretty high. They may have been a little financially harsh

on entrepreneurs who want to medicate their clientele by being overly cautious, and now they’ve hung out a welcome sign for the BM. OK is headed that way too. By Sept.1, we have to be down to 2,000 dispensaries, Sooner State. 7. International Update: Mexico approved home grows and the Czech Republic denied same for their citizens. Australia has been approached by France to grow marijuana for France’s growing population of users (we think France should have called Gov. Stitt, cuz we got some serious growers who could easily flower France). 8. We have a theory: it may be possible that the feds are holding back MJ law until the fed money dries up entirely, then they plan to use legalization/ decriminalization as a Hail Mary pass to right the economic woes we face. It’ll be a big win for the one who brings it forward...until we find all the records for all those who died waiting for weed to heal their issues.

healthy, easy and cheap recipes for the munchies by TCB Staff Each month, we offer our readers recipes that incorporate MMJ to make edibles, but in this craziness time of COVID, we thought you might want recipes that save your dispensary dollars, are easy to make and can be served to the whole family. We tried these in our home kitchen, and they worked. Go get ‘em, Emeril! Easy peasy, no kneading or yeasty Pizza Crust This thin crust works best with lots of toppings. If you have meats to cook, onion or other veggies that need to bake, they go right on top of this crust and bake for a while before you sauce and cheese this crust. Any toppings that only need a little oven time can be added for the second bake. Editor’s NOTE: last month, we posted a story for cannaflour on www.thecurrentbuzz.net. Since we are focusing on easy recipes, let’s keep going and make some treats for dessert. You got this. Banana Oatmeal Cookies (makes 8) INGREDIENTS • 1 cup quick oats (old fashioned and steel-cut oats need more time to cook) • 1 large overripe banana - mashed to a liquid-like consistency • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or other add-ins of your choice like walnuts, pecans, Reese’s Pieces or other candy bar, chopped (optional) INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or doubled-up parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, add oats and mashed bananas. Mix with a fork until it becomes an evenly mixed, thick batter. If you plan on using add-ins like chocolate chips, mix them into the batter last. 3. Make 8 round balls out of the cookie batter. Place onto baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Gently press down on each ball so that it flattens into a 3-3.5-inch diameter round disc. Cookies will not spread much during baking. 4. Bake for about 15 minutes or until cookies are lightly brown and set. Cookie bottoms should be brown and come off baking sheet easily. Let cookies cool before eating. Store uneaten cookies in the fridge.

INSTRUCTIONS

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies (makes 24) INGREDIENTS • 24 peanut butter cups • 1 large egg • 1/2 tsp baking soda

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mash peanut butter cups with a food processor until a smooth paste is formed. Add in egg and baking soda and mix until batter is smooth. 2. Roll 2 tbsp dough between palms until smooth balled is formed (a little flour on your palms keeps the dough from sticking). Place onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat with remaining dough, spacing 2 inches apart. 3. Bake for 10 minutes. Cookies will initially be puffy but will flatten when cooled. Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheet before removing. 4. Grab a big glass of milk. 5. Eat all of them and tell

everyone they didn’t turn out right.

Carbon Dioxide ENRICHMENT • The air today has a natural CO2 concentration level of 350~400ppm. Plants have ability to consume up to 1500 ppm of CO2. • Supplementing CO2 can increase yield and growth by 20% or more. • When using high powered lights, CO2 supplementation increases plants ability to photosynthesize. • Adding CO2 can make plants more resistant to heat and light stress. • CO2 burners emit other gases during combustion that can be detrimental to plant health. A steady supply of CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation.

THE SHAKEDOWN - march What’s fun for 2021? Even though we are three months in, it’s not too late to see what’s new for 2021. The marijuana industry has gone crazy with new stuff. Dig in! Strains Did you know there are over 9,000 strains of MJ/MMJ out there? Yikes! Remember when there were about five strains in the 1980’s? Now that we have choice, it’s a smorgasbord at Golden Corral. We try to stay on top of what’s out there, but all these strains just keep multiplying. Customers have developed a discerning palette; flavor, smoothness, and terpene content are now a big deal. Many new flavors for 2021 are incorporating Gelato and Cake, with some fruit flavors thrown in for good measure, but knowing what terpenes are in them will help you decide what’s worth your money. A good budtender is critical to making an informed decision. Even if you only keep a scrap of paper in your wallet, pay attention to strains you’ve enjoyed, then bring it with you when you shop. Looking up the dominant terpenes will help you to spend your money wisely. Some dispensaries are carrying HarvestFest and Cowboy Cup winners. If you feel like you need something special and

watching your money, check out Great American Strains in Skiatook. They carry many of the strains that won awards at both events and they have plenty of choices at $5/gram. Their budtenders can help you find what you need and they are super nice. Worth the visit. New 2021 Strains we love: • Mimosa: a SATIVA-leaning hybrid from parents Clementine and Purple Punch, this fruity flower has plenty of limonene and beta-caryophyllene, and about 20% THC. Tastes great and works for any time of day. We hear over and over that Mimosa is a keeper; no horrible couch lock, great pain fighter and yummy taste.

• Blueberry Muffin: 18% THC shouldn’t deter you from this tasty little bud. The offspring of Blueberry and Purple Panty Dropper, Blueberry Muffin offers a sweet and creamy taste for the connoisseur. It gives a relaxed buzz with a little happiness and euphoria sprinkled on top, just like a dusting of sugar. It gets high marks for smell as well as effects.

long-lived buzz. Best of all, you get to your happy place without being handcuffed to the couch. It’s got a sweet and tart smell and taste too.

• White Rhino: This INDICA offers plenty of THC (17%) along with a big bag of chill. Preferably used in the evenings,

• Cherry Pie: The description of this HYBRID is akin to sweettasting truth serum; giggly, happy euphoria smooths out to a chill buzz with little to no chance of weirdness. CP’s parents, Granddaddy Purple and Durban Poison provide strong genetics as well as a

WR can help you relax and sleep as well as curb any bad dreams. If you are stressed, this is the bud to end your day with. It’s a cross of White Widow and North American Indica, so be sure to have no plans when you settle in with this strain. Trends:

Jay-Z and Gwyneth Paltrow are now sticking their noses into MJ’s business. We expect more famous names to get involved in 2021. Willie Nelson’s involvement and support is honest and true. To us, the rest are just background noise. • The tobacco industry dodged a Congressional inquiry in 2020, but where there’s opportunity to take down the cig industry, the weed vaping industry could get caught in the crossfire. We strongly suggest you go to e-liquid vaping instead of the nicotine oils to quit cigarettes, but MMJ oil is a whole different animal that won’t bite. If you want to quit cigs, Vaping Kicks Ash in Owasso and Skiatook can help you on your way.

• Delivery service is growing in popularity, but many states are not exploring this option. We think that’s just stupid. Think of all the paranoid folks, driving 20 MPH UNDER the speed limit we would get off the roads. We’ll focus on technological advancements in the coming • The feds are cracking down months: what we found in new on CBD charlatans. Since processes, products, and more CBD is now accepted as a strains to take away your pain. good medical alternative to opioids, the feds are looking at companies that are selling fake CBD oils as placebos. HINT: if you find a CBD oil selling for $5 or less, pass. • Oddly, grow ops launched by big ag are having a tough time of it (HURRAY for the little guys!) and they’ve had to back off on their insane promises of making this cash crop part of Corporate America. • The Hollywood and music industry elites are jumping into the weed game. With both feet.

Are there side-effects with cannabis use? What is a side-effect? In medicine, a side-effect is an effect… whether that is what was intended, or not. All plants and drugs have effects. Cannabis is a medicinal plant, in other words, it is a drug because it has a “pharmacological” effect on a person or animal. That means it is like a pharmacy. It does things to our body or mind like other drugs do things. Lavender is a plant, an herb, and a drug. It calms people by going into the nose and working on the receptors (antennas) for relaxation. That is the sideeffect: it relaxes you. It is a drug. Usually when you talk about side-effects, you mean bad things that happen, like a rash or a seizure, a fever, or redness where you get a shot. But the “high” from ingesting THC is also a side-effect. You may think it’s a good one or a bad one, but that’s why it is a pharmaceutical product – it does things medicinally, like medicine. Some say much better than medicine! Some of the side-effects are laziness, happiness, nausea stopping, sleepiness, energy, creative impulses, increased perceptions, finding

Fresh receptors will gladly receive the medicine and you’ll be able to notice some effects pretty much right away. However, finding the exact dose for your daily needs will probably take longer. Conversely, if you’re a person who has used cannabis for a long time you probably have a tolerance for it. In your case, stopping use for a couple of weeks will allow the receptors to refresh, clean out, wake up again, so you can use a lot less to help with a medical situation. The issues of dosing and sideeffects are better broken down into small, understandable parts, so we will continue this in a future article.
