If you have so much MMJ that you feel the need to share with your hamster, you really need to rethink some of your life choices while finding a new home for your pet. 4. Symptoms of weed ingestion: lethargy, confusion, paranoia, stumbling, dilated pupils or a wild look, peeing on the floor, seizures, slow heart rate, hyperactivity, depression, and excessive barking or whining. If you have a larger dog, their tolerance is obviously higher than for a small dog. Cats may act as if they’ve overindulged in too much catnip, but if you are missing some stash, your cat has been bogarting (see? Jerks).
We started out looking for data on how pets can be helped by CBD/MJ/MMJ only to find multiple places where the info was contradictory, to the point we walked away for a while. Like eight days. The web is chock full of contradictions on what marijuana (and specifically MEDICAL marijuana) does to our fluffy family members. We’re still unsure on what the ultimate answer is. What everyone does agree on is that your pet can green out just like you, with less. If Fido or Fluffy consumes marijuana, every danger is dependent on the amount consumed, your
pet’s weight and age and how it was ingested (was it an edible, smoke exposure, a bud, drinking bong water, etc.). What you need to know: 1. Dogs are more prone to getting stoned on MMJ than cats. Their cannabinoid receptors respond well to marijuana and unless you have a cool veterinarian, you’ll want to keep your MMJ away from the dog. 2. Cats are less susceptible to the effects of MMJ, but they can still get sick. Most cats are
more tolerant than dogs, but that doesn’t mean it should be a treat. Cats have fewer cannabinoid receptors than dogs but are more inclined to raid your stash. We’ve heard a bunch of theories as to why, but marijuana is not far from catnip chemically. Depending on the strain you have, your weed may be too irresistible for a cat (proving the theory that cats are jerks).
5. There are veterinarians who will recommend MMJ for your dog (or they are not opposed). Whatever the amount the vet recommends, stick to it. Do not get your dog or cat higher. Edibles are NOT recommended for pets, ESPECIALLY chocolate. Some toxicity reports state that it was the food not the MMJ that made many pets ill.
CBD? Experts say yes, if it has 0.3% THC maximum. Make sure the CBD company has lab tests to show it’s really CBD and pet approved. CBD is good for pets who have seizures and for 3. If you aren’t sure what or how much your pet consumed, a vet visit is a good idea. • For toxins like chocolate, your dog may die from the toxin not the MMJ. A charcoal treatment or

stomach pump may be necessary. Both are quite unpleasant for you and your dog. • If your pet has excessive vomiting or diarrhea, they most likely are sick from the food, not the MMJ, or they got into more than stash. A vet visit is necessary. We found no data that confirms or denies that marijuana is fatal for dogs. Lots of folks throwing the potential for death, but no one answered the question on how many dogs have died. The old-timey marijuana seemed to pose no threat, but docs claim the medical grade stuff is ‘likely dangerous’. Interpret that however you like, but we’ll bet that if there was a solid number of pets who died from MJ/MMJ, we would have stumbled on it by now. For smaller pets and cats, keep all MMJ/edibles/ drinks away from them until the science supports using it. We’ll suggest you keep all your MMJ in a locked place where kids and pets can’t get into it until science catches up.

I had the occasion recently to try two stains I had never heard of before. One was called “Thanksgiving” and the other was called “Okie G”. They are both hybrids according to the grower, “Oklahoma Grow Specialists.” Now these young men should know a little somethin’ about growin’ weed; after all, their last name IS Worley of Worley’s Greenhouse and Nursery located in Owasso and Skiatook. Now here’s my dilemma, folks. I hunted everywhere for what these unique strains are used for therapeutically. Nothing showed up for these strain names on any of the national cannabis websites. Scrutinizing the lab results for Thanksgiving

There have been no deaths reported, but we bet that the local poison control centers are looking for volunteers. If you know your MMJ, you might want to apply. They need folks who can talk people down from a greenout. CB-Do. Or Don’t?
What’s new Where have all the studies gone? With all the state legalization going on, we had to wonder what’s up with the lack of studies out there? Apparently, it’s the fed’s fault. Without federal legalization, it’s superhard to get research grants. It’s so ridiculously stupid that a bigwig at National Institutes of Health says we are going backwards. In the ridiculous effort to protect us from the ‘evils of MJ/MMJ’, our fed protectors are now making a mess of things.
A farm in Mississippi may be the only one in the U.S. that has made it through all the fed hurdles to do studies on the benefits and pitfalls of MJ. The farm has been criticized for not producing MJ for researchers fast enough. The research grade MJ is not like commercially available MJ, leaving us to wonder how accurate the tests will be. We also saw how ‘meh’ Oklahoma’s 2019 crop was, so we don’t know what will come of this crop but we’ll stay on top of this. If you want to try it, check out www.biorxiv.org to see if they’ll ship you a batch to ‘test’. Be
sure to document everything you do with it if they say yes. More new numbers on time and toxicity If you ever chowed down on an edible, only to find that you feel nothing two hours later, new science has shown that edibles can take more like FOUR hours to kick in. Yeah, that second gummy could take you over the top. That has led many to think they are dying. There has been a 300% increase in poison control calls where edibles are easily obtained.
We covered this a few months ago: CBD and all its new forms are making a grand debut, but recent testing has shown that many products out there are almost CBD-less. In the past few years, CBD tinctures, edibles, vape cartridges and even plain ol’ flower are on the market and CBD pain patches will likely take the world by a storm. BUT, if you are buying CBD, you’ll want to see a copy of the test results showing that CBD is there. Some of the folks in the CBD community are not very ethical it seems. If any seller of CBD refuses to (or can’t) show solid test results, keep your money until you find one who can. It’s become rather problematic over recent months and it ain’t cheap. If you want to know if your CBD product is worth your dollars, we found some useful tips from an experienced buyer:
cannabis culture 1. Look at the Nutrition Facts. CBD should not be labelled as a food, it is considered a supplement, not a food like Hemp Oil. Part of that excludes wording like “gluten free” or anything with “food” as a description. 2. No claims should be made as to what it does like reducing inflammation or providing pain relief. CBD cannot make claims to cure anything as per the FDA. Only the FDA can grant such bragging rights. Until CBD is legal federally, no one can cure. That’s what we can do on their behalf; we’ll see who rises to the top. 3. Look for dosages. CBD should have information on the MG of CBD per dose or per bottle. Like THC products, there will be an amount listed. If not, put it back. Hemp Oil will not list CBD or THC amounts because it’s a food (if you find hemp oil with THC/CBD listed, buy it). Jiffy lubes We’ve been curious enough to look at the new batch of MMJ lubricants for women (for a friend of course) and we’ve been a bit concerned on the health benefits of them. What we learned was: • MMJ lube is not for occasional vaginal dryness, UNLESS your gynecologist says it’s okay. • MMJ lube should not be used daily unless the doc says so.

• MMJ lube is not dangerous, but if you are using MMJ another way (smoking, edibles, vaping), the lubricant can make you too high or take you beyond your comfort zone. Pay attention to your dosing. We’ve had mixed reviews on MMJ lube, most women like it occasionally, but so far, we’ve learned that more research could really help with comfort. We did not find any accounts of infection, adverse skin reactions (yet). Our advice: use sparingly with caution.
