happy april - let’s save some money! by: Amy Addams

“Once you are high on marijuana, stop smoking it. You won’t get any higher. And you are wasting pot.” ~Gallagher It’s been a rocky 12 months, but there are some things that will never change, say it with me: death and taxes. We can’t extend your life, but we can extend your dollars. And one huge money saver comes in the form of less being more – Microdosing. What is it? The new and improved dosing method

What is microdosing exactly and who can benefit?

We covered this before, but there is so much more data to support microdosing as the best way to handle your medical care. Recent data shows that you do not need nearly as much THC as you might think, and if you are looking to save your money while keeping yourself from the overdo effects of ‘Green-Outs’ (paranoia, shaking, sweating, freaking out), you should give microdosing a try. It is an easy and effective method to address your medical care without losing yourself to couch lock.

Using a microdose (MD) of MMJ is easy to do. Any dose under 10mg of THC is considered a MD. If you are new to this strange new world with all the technology and terms, grabbing a package of low dose edibles are the way to go. A dose as low as 1-5mg THC is a true MD and can be a huge help for any user; especially for headaches, depression, and pain. Microdosing has been a proven game changer for PTSD and anxiety too. Because Oklahoma has legalized MMJ, Oklahoman Veterans can legally use it to manage all sorts of issues,

despite Federal legalization taking forever (a VA doc cannot authorize your MMJ card, FYI). What are the benefits? There are multiple benefits to MD: less risk of couch lock, saves money, saves MMJ, allows you to go on with your day… the benefit list is endless. New users are less likely to suffer from paranoia and lack of energy. It also can curb munchies. How do we microdose safely (and easily)? First, find a dispensary where you feel like the budtenders are

interested in helping you. Be sure to tell the budtender that you are interested in MD and give them a list of reasons you are doing this as well as the issues you want to address. The best starter? Edibles. Smoking flower and vaping are harder to dose. THC-infused honey, gummies, chocolates are all easier to control. Many edibles come in 10mg and 25mg individual doses. You can break them into smaller doses to lower the amount of THC you take in. Do NOT eat the entire package or even an entire dose. THEN, you need to give it time to work; effects can take up to two hours to kick in. Your goal is to stick to a max dose of 5mg. A 1mg2.5mg dose is best. Who benefits from microdosing? Anyone who suffers from cancer, ALS, muscle spasms, epilepsy, Opioid Use Disorder, chronic pain, glaucoma, PTSD, HIV/AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, epilepsy, or depression can reap huge benefits from MD. You will need to find the right product for you. continued on page 8

If one thing goes wrong in your data, you are out of compliance, which means you are breaking the law and could lose your license at the least. One of the more concerning issues with Metric is you have to project what the weight of your product when cured. There is no way to be accurate with this. So guess what? You are out of compliance. Anyone else see a problem with this?

The state of Oklahoma needs to realize that legal marijuana in Oklahoma can develop into a multi-billion business if allowed to do so. I could go on and on about this, but I do not want to write a book. I just want to provide quality medical marijuana to Oklahomans. Metric is just another nail in the coffin to the medical marijuana industry. The next question is how did a minimum 10 million dollar bid never go public? Carbon Dioxide ENRICHMENT • The air today has a natural CO2 concentration level of 350~400ppm. Plants have ability to consume up to 1500 ppm of CO2. • Supplementing CO2 can increase yield and growth by 20% or more. • When using high powered lights, CO2 supplementation increases plants ability to photosynthesize. • Adding CO2 can make plants more resistant to heat and light stress. • CO2 burners emit other gases during combustion that can be detrimental to plant health. A steady supply of CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation.

Carbon Dioxide EXTRACTION • CO2 is known as a “tunable solvent” making it extremely versatile for creating a multitude of end products by controlling temperature and pressure. • Carbon Dioxide is cleaner, more efficient and less expensive than other chemical solvents. • Minimal extraction times and higher yields. • Non-beverage grade CO2 can contain high levels of sulfur, benzene, acetaldehyde, ammonia and other impurities that effect product quality. • A steady supply of beverage grade CO2 gas is the most effective method for carbon dioxide supplementation. • ZERO residual solvent content as CO2 evaporates away.

Beyond Brownies: easy recipes for a 420 celebration worth remembering by TCB Staff We preface our recipes with this: it’s better to NOT serve cannabis to your guests at a 420 gathering, however, if you choose to do so, be sure to offer non-medicated options and label the cannabis-infused dishes clearly. bored? Darryl Starbird’s is the only way to go by TCB Staff (and beverages to rehydrate your drool supply), and even famous folks like Joe and Amanda Martin from “Motor Resurrection” and Von Hot Rod, the L.A. pinstriping guide and guru to the cars. Of course, there will be tattoo artists, rock music, pin-up girls, a beard and mustache contest, and Starbird’s “Forcasta” being brought out after 60 years under the tarp. But WAIT, there’s more!

If you want to pay homage to Spring, 420 and you don’t mind celebrating a tad late, check out Darryl Starbird’s 57th National Rod & Custom Show happening April 30 through May 2 at River Spirit Expo Square. It’s the perfect place to go to get away from the boring lives we’ve all been forced to endure, and they’ve got plenty of entertainment for everyone, even the non-gearheads. And kids are welcome too. Lots of music, noise, shiny metal bits, burning rubber, yummy foods, great people, and good times to fill a day on the cheap. You get a t-shirt to commemorate the day you weren’t stuck on the couch with the TV clicker. Your family will be interesting again, you’ll be more of a human, and you may be willing to get back to life without throwing a tantrum.

What do you get for your money? The list of events is so long, we’d fill our mag with how much there is to do and have no room for anything else. It’s a carnival for car people: flaming tailpipes, smoking tires (yeah, they got a burnout thing), a demolition derby, and live acts like the Flaunt Girls High Flying Aerial Show are just the beginning. We can’t tell you about Rockin’ Billy Bash – it’s too much cool for print, but you’ll want to see it. Starbird’s takes up so much space, they are renting motorized scooters and wheelchairs to bring Grannie along, or sooth your tired tootsies while your senses take in all the mechanical yummy stuff that makes life worth living. They have food to keep your blood sugar normal, new shiny things to make you drool

You could become the proud owner of a bad-a$$ Starbird’s 2021 commemorative tee-shirt. Always cool, one-of-a-kind and perfect for the person who hates collars and cuffs, you’ll expand your wardrobe simply by attending. They planned for everything, including your need to grace your walls with new art, win some money, or just plan on how you’ll tell your family that you are souping up the minivan to shoot flames, go Von Dutch, and do the quarter mile in 5.2 seconds. Much of the show will be outdoors, in fresh air, where your whole family will enjoy a day of forgetting life and living in the moment. If you grab your tickets online, you get $5 off AND a FREE tee too. Adults (16 and up) can get tickets for $20 ($25 at the door), Juniors (13-15) can get in for $10 ($15 at the door), and kids under 13 get in for FREE no matter how you get your tickets. Every adult

How do I decide what medical condition responds to which strain of medicine? How do I find out what might help me best? Have you ever heard of an anecdote? It’s another word for story. Or for a testimony someone gives: “when I wear my hair up, men whistle at me, which proves men like short hair.” Of course that’s your conclusion. There are other things that are involved – these are called variables. Perhaps you feel prettier when your hair is up, so you walk around with more confidence? Perhaps your face and neck look much better without hair lower than your chin? Perhaps your hair being up makes you look sophisticated, or older, or taller? All variables. So what? So you are needing information about what strain or version of cannabis will help any condition you may have. Do you want anecdotes? Stories from other people about what helped them? Or do you want pure scientific research about what the plant parts do under certain conditions, and in mice or in petri dishes? Because, anecdotal (story) information is not impressive to your Doctor or to the scientific community.

You can tell them all day long about someone who got rid of their skin cancer by putting CBD on it, or RSO (Risk Simpson’s Oil), and they will politely nod, hiding a yawn. To scientists, stories don’t count, they just form the basis for more questions. And questions ARE getting answered. There are tons of medical studies done on particular parts of cannabis especially as targeting a certain condition. Take weightlifting!

They’re stressed, have shift work, eat wrong, haven’t got a My Pillow, use their computers and cell phones too much… Does cannabis offer any help for that? Scientifically?

The studies aren’t all saying the same things… Some studies have found that sleep can actually be impaired (or screwed up) by regular marijuana use. What we can all agree on, is cannabis changes sleep cycles.

cannabis commerce Creating an annual marketing plan simply doesn’t work for the cannabis industry. Things change too frequently for an annual plan to be effective. In my opinion, setting quarterly goals works best for cannabis. Most marketing projects will prove themselves within 90 days. Anything less than 90 days does not allot suitable time for success or failure. Also, working in 90-day increments does not allow you to become locked in to long term agreements that fail to meet expectations.
