Had a nice run of weighups, 8 weighup buyers, cows considerably lower, not much test on bulls. Good run of bred cattle, along with some pairs, good crowd of buyers, and a fairly active market. Better kill cows $55 to $63.50 – young feeding cows & cowtts to $72 - hfrtts to $87 low yielding & big bellied cows $44 to $55 – shells below $44 – bulls-no test. If you rob a bank and get caught, you go to prison. If you steal cattle and get caught, you go to prison – unless, of course, you are a packer. In my opinion, these packers are looting the cattle industry and stealing the fat cattle through highly illegal – criminal business practices, and the cops are looking the other way. Meat at the meat counters is higher the cow market in the 40s and 50s and fat cattle 90-105 and choice meat selling at 233 dressed.
