News from the Block 8-13-20 No sale here at Belle Fourche Livestock on August the 13th on account of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, we hope you all were able to enjoy time with family before things pick up this fall. Our sales will start up again on August 20th, with a big feeder cattle special. We also have several lots of cattle selling this week on August 19th at the Superior Big Horn Classic. Today Aug 14th, estimated packer live equivalent, including hide off-fall is $140 per hundred. Reported bids of $105-106 per hundred, well over $500 per hd gross profit on 1500# str or hfr. Result of no competition in packing industry, probably due to collusion – price fixing as a result of monopolization of the packing industry. Sounds like criminal activity to me. We will be holding a special all classes cattle sale with 700-800 cattle in the offering. The run will consist of 500 yearling steers and heifers and a large run of weigh up cattle. The yearling offering will include 180 black heifers in one consignment weighing 800-850 along with several other part loads several coming off of grass. The weigh up cattle will begin at 9:30 AM and the Feeder Cattle will begin selling at 12:30. Better kill cows $69 to $76- hfrtts & cowtts no test - low yielding & big bellied cows $60 to $70– shells below $60- bulls low end $80 to $85– better end $85 to $92.50-no test on top. Today Aug 14th, estimated packer live equivalent, including hide off-fall is $140 per hundred. Reported bids of $105-106 per hundred, well over $500 per hd gross profit on 1500# str or hfr. Result of no competition in packing industry, probably due to collusion – price fixing as a result of monopolization of the packing industry. Sounds like criminal activity to me.
