News From The Block
We had a big feeder cattle special here at Belle Fourche Livestock on August 20th, there was a big run of stock and the quality was outstanding in all classes. There is still a very good demand for cattle coming off grass, and it looks to hold steady throughout the fall. We will have a regular cattle sale next week, August 27th, and begin gearing up for our Anniversary BBQ sale on September 3rd, which will feature loads and loads of quality cattle coming straight off grass. As always, please don’t hesitate to give any one of our fieldmen a call, they are in the country each and every day looking at cattle and would be glad to help you with your marketing needs. We sold 825 cattle on a hot, humid day including 310 weigh up cattle and 515 feeder cattle. A negative on feed report on Friday made buying attitude not so positive. Feeder cattle sold very well to a nice crowd of buyers. Cow market steady-strong bulls $2-4 lower. A word of thought for slaughter cow sellers might be time to sort some of your old cows off and wean their calves with cheap feed and a higher cow trade. Lots of cows $62.00-67.00. Wet lower yielding cows $55.00-62.00. Lower yielding bulls $80.00-89.00.
