THE WYCKOFF EVENT DEFINITELY GAVE ME A NEWFOUND APPRECIATION FOR ALL THE WORK DONE AT OUR LOCAL FARMS. AT THIS EVENT, WE HELPED PLANT GARLIC, SHALLOTS, AND DAFFODIL BULBS, TURNED THE COMPOST, PREPPED 2 BEDS FOR PLANTING, AND MUCH MORE. ALTHOUGH NONE OF THE VOLUNTEERS HAD MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH FARMING OR GARDENING, WE WERE GREETED WITH WARM WELCOMES BY THE WYCKOFF HOUSE STAFF AND THEY TAUGHT SO MUCH VALUABLE INFORMATION ABOUT WHERE THE FOOD WE EAT COMES FROM. DESPITE IT BEING A REALLY COLD DAY, IT WAS REALLY AMAZING SEEING HOW MUCH EFFORT EVERYONE PUT INTO HELPING THE FARM OUT. I THINK I CAN SPEAK FOR EVERYONE WHEN I SAY THAT THE END RESULTS MADE OUR HOURS OF WORK TOTALLY WORTH IT. VIVIAN CHONG

SANTA IN THE PARK DECEMBER 7,2019

13

The Santa in the Park event was a gratifying experience for a couple of reasons. First, the event allowed students to engage with a community center and help make the days of little children. We got to do arts and crafts with the kids and give them treats. Second, the event was full of parents and children which would have been hectic without the volunteers. It is always pleasant to help distract them through the long wait of seeing Santa with cheerful stations of prizes and coloring. CHRISTINA TRAN

THE OPERATION CHRISTMAS SMILES EVENT WAS A REALLY GOOD EVENT. IT WAS REALLY NICE BRINGING KIDS AROUND AND LETTING THEM CHOOSE THEIR GIFT. EVERYONE WAS REALLY SWEET AND NICE ESPECIALLY THE KIDS. AT FIRST I WAS A BIT NERVOUS BUT AS IT WENT ON IT WAS MORE FUN. CATHY CHAN
