DAFFODILS
I would like to wish all our hard working mums a very happy Mother’s day. Soon all the daffodils will be out and spring is well and truly on its way. So I thought I would share what March is to me:
Contents... 4 Is your wardrobe fit for spring? 6 8
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the Milky Way, They stretch'd in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
14 Lakes Singles Club
The waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company: I gazed and gazed but little thought What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.

Is your wardrobe FIT for spring? Ever since Stella McCartney was asked to design the London 2012 Team GB Olympic kit, sport inspired style has leapt from the catwalks, stretched itself around the fashion forward and lunged its way into everyday attire. Long gone are the days of working out in baggy sweats! Sports gear is now fully functional and ready for action yet easy on the eye too, so much so that you might not want to take it off after you’ve left the track. Fitness now comes arm in arm with fashion and sportswear is made for both sweating and socialising.
You might not have thought of popping into Two by Two, Ulverston for your running pants or yoga tops yet this season we are excited to present a functional and fashionable sporty line by Danish label Y.A.S. The range is made from a polyester, elastane blend that is both stretchy and breathable and has a quick dry effect that keeps you
dry while working out. It looks as though the Ice Age of sportswear style has finally melted and with it the colours in this flow print. These icebreaking colours are eye catching and fun and will appeal even if you don’t have a membership to the gym.
I asked Lake District girl mountain bike blogger Jozza Guns to put Y.A.S sportswear to a performance test and I tried to keep up.

Lakes Legal Limited What Happens if I don’t have a Lasting Power of Attorney?
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows you to appoint a person or persons of your Hannah Elizabeth Bell LLB Director choosing to make Photo: Lorraine Oates Photography decisions for you once you lose mental capacity. The appointed person or persons are called your attorney(s). There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney; one allows you to appoint your attorney(s) to make decisions about your property & finances and the other allows you to appoint your attorney(s) to make decisions about your health & welfare. Put simply, if you are unable to make decisions for yourself at the time they need to be made you are said to have lost mental capacity. The cause of a lack of mental capacity will be dependant on your specific circumstances but common examples include a serious brain injury or illness such as dementia. If you don’t have a Lasting Power of Attorney and you lose mental capacity there will be nobody legally appointed to make decisions for you. If you don’t have anyone legally appointed to make decisions for you when you lose mental capacity it is likely that someone will need to apply to Court for a Deputyship Order so that they can make decisions for you. The person who applies for the Deputyship Order will depend on your circumstances at the time. Usually it will be a close family member or friend but it could also be a professional person, such as an accountant, lawyer or representative of the Local Authority. The Deputyship process is complex and costly meaning it is always best to ensure you have a Lasting Power of Attorney in place. Making a Lasting Power of Attorney also allows you to choose who is appointed to make decisions
for you when you are no longer able to at a time that suits you. Commonly when a Deputyship Order is needed your family and friends are already experiencing a difficult situation, dealing with your illness. Having a Lasting Power of Attorney in place can ease this pressure, allowing your family and friends to focus on you and your needs without having to worry about paperwork. Lakes Legal Limited are specialists in the provision of Lasting Powers of Attorney are happy to answer any queries you may have. If you have any questions about Lasting Powers of Attorney please feel free to contact Hannah Bell using the below telephone number or by e-mail: Hannah@lakeslegallimited.co.uk. Lakes Legal Limited offers a comprehensive Lasting Power of Attorney service so you know exactly how much it is going to cost you from the very beginning. No hidden costs and No VAT! The Ulverston Canal Regeneration Group has been working over the last year to raise the profile of the Canal and its environs. We have succeeded in developing a series of Festivals to enhance the events that occur in town. These are designed to increase awareness, encourage visitors to explore the area and enjoy the beautiful views and wildlife that exist along the towpath and at Canal Foot. Last year we held a Gala in July, the Anchor Festival in October and the Brolly Parade in December; three very successful occasions. We also ran a music night and produced a calendar for fund raising. We are currently working with the charity “Groundwork” to obtain funds for making improvements to the access paths, signage and seating. Designs and plans will be ready for a public meeting to be arranged in May for a full consultation. Our next venture is another new festival , “The Easter Egg Trail”. This is going to run from 27th March – 7th April. A free event, spanning Easter, when visitors can stroll along the towpath admiring all the decorated Easter Eggs displayed. Schools, community groups, organisations and businesses are invited to request a large plywood

“Egg” for them to decorate as they wish. Please contact chairman@ulverstoncrg.co.uk for further information. These need to be completed by Wednesday 25th March. UCRG will display them on posts along the path. We are hoping that individuals will enter into the spirit of the festival by decorating a small egg of their own and placing it along the route. We suggest that you use a wooden spoon as a base. The bowl is egg shaped and the handle can then be stuck into the ground. We just ask that eggs are placed well back from the path to allow for farm vehicles. If anyone wants the group to place them, get in touch on the contact address above. There will also be a competition for visitors to find twenty hidden “Eggs” with numbers on them. People wanting to take part will be able to download a sheet from the website or pick one up from local shops or UCRG group members. The sheets can be filled in and, for an entry fee of £1.00, handed in to be marked. One sheet will be pulled out of a lucky draw to win a beautiful chocolate Easter Egg!

The ideal way for singles to have a pleasant evening out in the company of others without necessarily going on a date! Ever met someone for the first time via an internet dating site and found it something of a trial?
Do you recognise the symptoms? * The overwhelming urge to sound confident, interesting and amusing * Trying desperately to fill any awkward silences * Maybe even trying to reconcile the photo on the site with what’s in front of you! * And all the time having no real idea what the other is thinking? Of course online dating can be effective and there are lots of success stories, but many have likened their experience to a gruelling job interview – and it’s supposed to be a night out! At LSN we hope those attending the ‘Meet Up’ events won’t face this kind of pressure.
We offer all types of events for singles to meet up in a group – anything from a private happy hour in a Lake District pub to cocktail nights and dance classes; even Lake cruises. Sometimes there’ll be entertainment from local artists. At every event the emphasis will be on creating a relaxed and casual
14
sarah@thepinfold.com
atmosphere. There’ll be no obligation to talk to just one person – the choice is yours. Everyone there will be single and looking to meet someone like you.
We want people to meet others in the old fashioned way..what’s wrong with that hey. Long ago, in time before the internet.....People actually talked!
We’re based in Bowness on Windermere beside the stunning lake and are introducing this singles Meet Up concept not only to our local community but to those from elsewhere who wish to enjoy our events in the beautiful Lake District. Our philosophy is simple – we want singles to find companionship. If it’s meeting ‘the one’ or simply finding lasting friendship it’s helpful to know that others are in the same boat - perhaps literally on one of our lake outings! What we offer is possibly a more old-fashioned way of meeting people that might actually be fun!
At Lakes Singles Nights you can register www.lakes-singles-nights.com Events are once-monthly and our March event starts at 6.30pm on Thursday 12th March at Riva Italian Restaurant, Bowness on Windermere. Why not give it a try?
For further information and Meet Up events please see www.lakes-singles-nights.com and Twitter:@LakesSingles or Facebook: facebook.com/LakesSinglesNight or email us on lakes-singles-nights@outlook.com

We are a family run Motorhome Hire company based in Barrow In Furness. The business was established in 2012 and is run by Adam & Samantha Taylor. We have two young children and a loopy dog who all enjoy their “vanning holidays.
Motorhome hire has proved to be an incredibly popular holiday choice and in 2015 we are expanding our fleet to include two brand new 6 berth Motorhomes. They can be driven by anyone aged 25-75 with a full driving licence regardless of when you passed your test. (Important for those who passed after 1997). Our Motorhomes are all 6 berth with 6 full seatbelts and are a great layout for families or couples alike. Both feature a full size double bed above the cab, a
dinette area that converts into a second double bed and a set of bunk-beds to the rear. The rear bunk can be lifted to allow storage of kids toys, bikes or even a set of Golf Clubs, and this area can be accessed from the outside through a handy garage door.
The dining area comfortably seats all 6 occupants at mealtimes and the galley kitchen features hob, grill, oven and microwave along with a great fridge/freezer. Onboard you’ll find every convenience including a shower room and toilet. Hot water and heating can be run from both mains electric or gas, meaning the vehicles can be used at conventional sites or “off grid” where there might not be any facilities, such as Music Festivals and Sporting Events. Our motorhomes are regular visitors to Glastonbury and the Grand Prix!
We also welcome family pets in our motorhomes (for those who don’t love pets so much you can be assured our motorhomes are all deep cleaned between hires!)
Our prices start at £345 for a UK short break or £550 for a full week’s hire and includes insurance, breakdown cover and membership of the Camping & Caravanning Club during your hire. European Mainland hire is also available – and is cheaper than you might think!
10% off for Pinfold readers during 2015. Quote “PINFOLD” before booking. Cannot be used in conjunction with other offers.

WINK is a new networking group made up of local business women from a wide range of specialities and age groups who are passionate about their own business success and who meet up monthly to share their experience, knowledge and expertise with other like minded women. It is open to any business woman across Furness, South Lakes and North Lancashire. Over the last few years our founder members have all been introduced to networking through various local groups and it did not take long to realise how valuable it is when you are starting out in business or working hard to make your business grow. Being part of a networking group means that you have a trusted team of like minded people who are all striving for success but provide support, encouragement and information for the benefit of their members. We also act as each others marketing team, offering recommendations and testimonials for our fellow members across each of our separate and diverse contact networks outside the group. By being part of the group we can vouch for each others services and make recommendations by word of mouth, which is the most reliable and trusted way to promote colleagues. WINK members are also passionate about passing on what they have learned to the next generation of local business women, so
20
we are forging links with local schools and colleges to involve girls in what we do, and for them to attend our meetings and speak to members whose business may be in a field in which the girls are interested. We hope that eventually there may be some work experience opportunities available for girls to explore a working environment in which they are interested. The women who are and who will become our members may already be in business and others may be eager to start their own business, sharing the same vision, aims and ambitions as our more experienced members. We aim to use our knowledge and experience to help other women achieve their ambitions and to educate and support the next generation of female entrepreneurs in our local area. Whilst we are all very serious about our success and support for each other, our meetings are definitely about having fun and making new friends in the business community. We include legal and financial services, healthcare, wellbeing and fitness, new media, sales and marketing, photography, event management, craft based businesses, catering, hospitality, tourism, animal welfare, and leisure services. We’ve managed to achieve our ambition of working for ourselves in an area which we love, and now, working with local groups and educational organisations, we want to pass on that knowledge and expertise to help

Join us in the pub. All human life is here tonight, meeting friends; celebrating achievements; boozing. Our hosts bustle between pumps and optics, serving bitter to the regulars, tequila to the stag party and cocktails to the ladies.
Pull up a chair and drink in the jokes. Here's Mrs Iger singing the praises of tall men (shame her husband's only 5'5") and there's Maudie trying to handle Moth, who's three sheets to the wind and eyeing up anything with a pulse.
The landlord and landlady know everything; they're friend, psychiatrist and referee, party to every secret and struggle. But they have their own tragedy and the singing of the till can't conceal that relations behind the bar have become as bitter as the beer.
From the writer of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice comes a vibrant celebration of the British pub and its drinkers. Two actors play all 14 colourful characters who share their tales, both hilarious and hopeless, from opening time to last orders. Occasional very mild swearing All profits to charities and other worthy causes supported by The Rotary Club of Ulverston Trust Fund (Registered Charity 501080)
